"I think..I'm gonna do it." Izuku said as he sat down on the couch, his hair sticking in every direction.
Inko's eyes started swelling with tears, "My baby boy." She wailed and hugged the kid, "I have to tell everyone about this!" Inko said and hurried off to the landline, most likely to call Mitsuki and Rei.
Tsukauchi walked in right after his mom ran away, holding a tray with a lot of snack vegetables. "What's that about?" He asked, very much confused.
"I told her that i think i'm going to accept the scholarship." Izuku explained, he sighed and leaned back into the cushions. "I just don't know how Kachhan will react. He's been peachy lately, and i don't think this is going to help."
"I think," His dad said and sat down next to him, "Is that you just got to rip the bandage off, it's not easy, I know, but better rip it off instead of keeping it on."
Izuku nodded," But how will he react?"
"That's the unknown part, you'll never know until you try it for yourself. I suggest you call him before his mom calls Mitsuki-san."
Izuku smiled and hugged the man before running back into his room, unlocking his cellphone he clicked on the contact.
"Doku, what are you doing, it's 8 in the morning." He heard the blonde complain.
"Well…" Izuku started as he began to fumble with his t-shirt, "I recently got an opportunity, and I think i'm going to take it." He held his head high. "I'll tell you about it in person."
"Ok." His voice was off, Izuku began to panic.
"You know the summerhouse, by the beach? Be there in 20minutes." He said curtly and hung up.
He buried his head in his hands and groaned, "I'm going to die." He said and stretched before walking into the kitchen.
He suddenly got embraced by his mother, "This is the first time someone in the family got such an opportunity!" She squealed. "Nao said you are going to meet up with Katuski, do you want to bring some cookies with you?"
"As peace offering yes." Izuku deadpanned, "I got to change." He excused himself and ran to his room. throwing on his black dress shirt, his corduroy pants and red basket profi shoes. Looking into the mirror, he nodded to himself. 'Good enough' He thought and checked his watch. 'Death is waiting upon us.'.
He sucked a breath in and walked back into the kitchen, "Thank you mom!" He said cheerfully and kissed his mothers cheek, "If I don't report back in 10 minutes, Kacchan killed me!" He said faking an awfully cheerful tone.
He could hear his mother laugh, kind of worried. But he dismissed that and walked out of the door.
He gazed at the alleyway he crossed a while ago, 'I wonder how she's doing?', he shook the thought out of his head, she didn't look like she'd want someone to remember her. He gulped nervously when he saw a blonde at the pier.
Taking his time he walked to the gazebo, clenching the box of cookies tightly. His sweat dropped when he heard the explosive preteen shout, "Oi Doku, hurry up!"
Izuku clenched his jaw and started moving a bit faster, The blonde looked at him, "So, opportunity eh? What is it?"
"A scholarship." Izuku said and sat down against the railing of the gazebo, "For two years."
"Eh? Two? That's when we would go to U.A.." The abrasive kid's voice raised slightly. "I would be in your first year when you were finally in your second." His voice, barely a whisper said.
"Kacchan, I know I said I would be there with you. But I got to think about my future too, my quirk still hasn't appeared yet. What if I don't get into U.A at all? I would have wasted a scholarship that not many people get. Do you understand?" He asked.
"No," The blonde growled, "This is just adding an excuse to why you're leaving!" He clenched his hands trying to let no explosives escape.
"I have to be selfish once in my life." Izuku said softly, "These kinds of opportunities are like the last train. When you miss it, there is no way but to wait until the next day. When is the next train going to be, maybe the U.A. bus won't even let me in. "
"You said you were going to train with me." Katsuki looked down at his feet.
Izuku frowned for a second, and placed his hand on his little brother's shoulder, "I did promise that," He straightened his back, "I, Izuku Midoriya, will find a way to help you."
"No," Bakugo whispered, "You shouldn't make promises you can't keep." The betrayal in his voice shook the green haired teenager.
Izuku's jaw dropped, "W-What, what do you mean?"
The blonde gritted his teeth, "Don't, make anymore promises. How do you know you'll keep them?" His voice got a bit louder each time. "You're leaving me! We could've been heroes together Izuku." He turned around and stalked away.
The young Midoriya was dumbfounded, "C-Cookies?" He shouted after him, desperately.
The kid kept walking away, Izuku's shoulders dropped and he groaned, "That could've gone so much better." He muttered and waited until the blonde was out of his sight before he started to walk back home.
"Damage is done," Izuku told his dad, "He didn't even take the cookies." He buried his head in his hands, he had been doing that a lot lately.
He felt the detective pat his back, "I don't think i can help you, Bakugo-san must accept it eventually. The relationship might be a bit strained right now, but you'll both push through. He might just be going through puberty." His dad suggested at the end.
Rolling his eyes, Izuku responded, "He didn't call me Doku," He whispered, "But by my real name."
Due to Tsukauchi's shock, he quickly recomposed himself, "He's in denial." He cleared his throat and stood up. "You should probably e-mail them back." His dad left the room.
Ping, 'Come over in two days? -ST'
'What's the occasion? -IM'
'Your scholarship, everyone is really proud of you, especially dad, he complained about never having trained with you. Then he started talking about how Tsukauchi did a good job building your muscles.-ST'
'So, what you're saying is that its anarchy at home right now? And you need me to calm it down? -IM'
'Yes. -ST'
'I'll talk with mom about it -IZ' The green haired boy rolled his eyes, 'I'll tell you how it went with Kacchan at yours.'
'You not being dead is a good sign. -ST' Izuku was a bit confused at his statement, his normally stoic voice made jokes a bit hard for the green haired boy to understand.
"Thank you for having me." Izuku said and smiled at Fuyumi, who opened the door for him.
"You know we love to have you here Zuku." She said with a small smile. "WHen did you even get that tall?" She grumbled.
"Well, sister dear, I've always been taller." He teased as he slipped on his own slippers. "I was once your height, at 11 years old." He nudged her side.
She rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah. Dinner is in an hour and a half. Shoto is in his room." She said and walked away.
Izuku smiled happily, at least they didn't react like Kacchan. Izuku walked down the hallways, the todoroki actually lived surprisingly close. It would just be a 15 minute walk.
"Hey Shoto." He said as he walked inside of his room, it had a low desk and it was overall just japanese traditionally styled.
"You're alive!" The dual haired teenager said, "Surprisingly," He teased, "Strawberry milk?" He offered.
"Please." Izuku grinned sheepishly, "Kacchan didn't murder me, but he did call me Izuku. That's a different kind of murder." Shoto flinched, "And he looked so betrayed." He started and looked at Shoto, "What happened to your face?"
"Mom and dad were having tea, I kind of tripped face first in it." He said pointing to the bandage.
Izuku winced, "Are you okay?"
Shoto shrugged and nodded, "It'll just leave a scar, anyways what did Katsuki-san say?"
Izuku smiled, "That i am leaving him," he sighed and sipped his drink, "Honestly, I can't miss this opportunity. Maybe the doctor even read wrong on my chart, maybe i'm just hopeless and quirkless." He felt Shoto awkwardly pat the top of his head, giving him a questioning gaze.
"Dad did this once." The Todoroki shrugged.
"Explains." Izuku said and pressed his lips together, "The scholarship is on the I-Island." He said softly. "I'll be there for two years."
Shoto shook his head, "I-Island is very important. You'll get great recognition, and don't think like that. I have a gut feeling that your quirk will show up eventually." He leaned back against his desk chair.
Izuku scratched the back of his neck, "Doctors make mistakes too." He pointed out.
"Yes, but I just know." Shoto deadpanned.
"You have been hanging around with Natsuo-san too much. You're being corrupted." Izuku joked.
"Might as well be." Shoto grinned at him.
Izuku gasped playfully, and suddenly turned serious, "I'm going to do it."
"Proud of you, onii-chan." Shoto said and grinned at him.
"Thank you." Izuku said and gave him a grin.
"I'm so proud of you!" Endeavor said loudly as he sat down at the table. "My nephew is going to be a scientist, or my soon to be favourite support item creator." He nudged Izuku's side.
Izuku smiled shyly and rubbed the back of his neck, "Natsuo-san, have you chosen your major yet?" He asked and bowed his head when Rei placed soba in front of him. "Thank you."
Natsuo looked up and grinned at him, "Medical field." and pointed to him, "Inspired by you, your words when we first met really stuck with me." He smiled thankful at him. "My quirk isn't powerful enough for the hero job, so might as well save lives another way."
Izuku smiled at him, "I'm glad I inspired you."
"We'll make sure to visit you at I-Island!" Rei said, "The yearly support item festival takes place there."
Izuku smiled even brighter than normal.
Fuyumi nudged her little brother's side, "I didn't know he could be any brighter." Natsuo chuckled and covered it up with a cough.
"Have you been yet, Enji-san?"
The fiery man nodded, "It's where most workers at my agency graduated from there. If i wore local fire-proof clothing. There would only be a bit of coal left." He explained.
"There must be a whole process behind your suit then. Do you overheat if you use your quirk too much, just like Shoto-kun?"
The man nodded, "They made my suit to ventilate properly."
"That sounds like a big process."
"Geniuses work on suits like mine, just like you would for a hero later."
Izuku's cheeks start to redden, "Thank you, Enji-san. I really appreciate it." He bowed slightly, "Can I help with putting these away?" He asked Fuyumi.
Fuyumi smiled slightly and nodded, "I would appreciate that, Zuku-kun." He nodded and excused himself from the table. Picking up a few plates whilst the Fuyumi picked up the rest.
Walking into the kitchen he saw her leaning against the counter. Did you know I used to have a crush on you?"
Izuku's eyes widened, "When?"
"Three years into knowing you." She said, 'You really helped all of us get closer with each other."
Izuku smiled brightly at her, "You guys deserve it."
The white haired girl looked up at him, "Then i realised you were more of a little brother figure. Your maturity is better than people at my age." She joked.
He saluted her and walked into the dining room, where they all were seated., "Thank you for dinner Todoroki's! I have to go, or mom might kill me." He chuckled, "She hasn't forgiven me for giving her a heart attack with the sludge monster."
"You gave me one too." Rei butted in.
Izuku smiled apologetically, "Sorry for that too."
"It's okay." She waved it away, Shoto stood up, "I'll walk you out." Izuku nodded and walked next to him.
"When your quirk appears make sure to contact me." the youngest Todoroki said.
I nodded, "I'm leaving when the school year is finished, or whenever they'll have me. I think it's directly after one of the vacations, they sounded a bit eager in the email."
Shoto chuckled, "How can't they? You literally started to design a robot at age four." He said and smiled.
"When my quirk appears, I'll make sure to try out for U.A." Izuku said with a determined look on his face.
Shoto smiled, "I know you will, also you should go now, your mom is spamming my phone right now." He said as he could feel the vibrations in his pocket.
Izuku paled a bit and ran to his bike, leaving the Todoroki estate he started biking home.
A/N; I would like to remind you all that Izuku is a literal genius, just a little below Nezu
