Chapter 16:
He totally forgot.
Literally how could he forget?
June sent him a questioning look. He just smiled back, with a bit of a shaky smile to be honest. His mind started to race, making sure to bite his tongue so he doesn't start muttering his thoughts.
'How can i forget my own birthday? I literally just took my maths exam and had to take three other exams before their vacation started.' He facepalmed, 'That must've been why his parents said that they'd have a small barbeque when he gets back. To celebrate his 15th vacation, and I guess his return back home?' He started to study everyone in the workshop. 'Melissa must've planned this. I never even told them my birthday,' He winced internally, 'Having a birthday party really brings the spotlight on you.'
He moved himself and sat next to Melissa who was admiring their project robots, since it took their time and was an assignment the teacher had decided that they can use for their end exam.
The clients notes will be used, which they got permission for, and decide on their notes and requirements on how good their project was. Along with a timelapse of their designing.
"Did you plan this?" He asked quietly.
Melissa shook her head, "They just invited me, thank you for aunt Inko's and Uncle Tsukauchi's wedding invitation."
Izuku smiled and nodded at her, "I'm glad they're finally tying the knot."
"Who knows, maybe you'll have another surprise when you get home." She said with a teasing glance in her eyes.
Before Izuku could ask he felt someone clamp around his arms and drag him away, "I-Ito! W-What are you doing?" He stuttered out at the contact, turning a bit red.
"Dragging you away, obviously." June clicked her tongue and walked to the small group on the other side of the room. "Izu-kun, this is one of my senior friends, they've been wanting to talk to you." She introduced and walked away, immediately.
Izuku followed her with his eyes and frowned, remembering that there was another person with him. He bowed swiftly, "Izuku Midoriya, HS2, nice to meet you."
The black haired guy bowed back swiftly, "Tomomi Koki, HS3, doing an extra year here . Congrats with your birthday! You've built yourself quite a reputation," He said and nudged his side playfully. "I just came here to ask you a few questions, I am in charge of a future project as you can see. Both the school and the government here are working on a project together, I-Island, I'd like to ask you to work with me, together."
Izuku thought about it for a second and pushed his glasses further up his nose bridge, "Won't a huge project just hinder my courses here?"
The guy shook his head, "We would need to make minimally two projects. Eye catching ones, to show off the research and development on this island.
We'll be excused from the exams next year. Some classes you're already excused from, I heard, so that wouldn't be a problem." He said with a glint in his eyes that the green bean couldn't recognise.
Izuku nodded, "I'll think about it, when can i give you my answer?"
"Until the end of the summer vacation if you would." He said and smiled.
0030
He scanned himself into June's dorm, not having seen her leave the party, he didn't see her at dinner either. He was a bit worried.
Settimo had sent him to give her favourite pasta, hand delivered of course.
"Oi! June!" He called out before seeing her full of energy once again. "What's that on your arm?"
She held up her arm, proudly, "Caffeine patches!"
Izuku sighed, "You're going to have a heart attack, are you done studying?"
The highly caffeinated girl nodded, "All done for tomorrow's exam, i'm gonna beat them all into a pulp!"
The green haired teenager suddenly got an idea, "You can try and beat me into a pulp." He suggested. "You've been in here for days with, most likely pent up frustration."
Her eyes softened at the boy, "That's true, " she said softly, then her eyes lightened back up. "You sure? Don't want to hurt you too much." She leaned over to him.
Izuku's breath hitched when he saw her dark orange eyes stare back into his, he suddenly felt very attracted to her.
The boy quickly threw himself back, "I-I'm sure, make sure to wear some athletic clothes." His face once again, beet red.
A blush appeared on June's face, she quickly nodded and speed walked into her room.
They stood at the entrance of the central tower, "C'mon you literal ball of energy." He said and dragged her with him. He quickly checked them in
They stood in the elevator next to each other, "Do you need some ice later?"
"You're going to." He retorted.
"Why?"
"Cause I'll be bruising your ego." He grinned
June huffed, "I'll beat your ass."
Izuku smirked, "We'll see~"
The elevator stopped and they walked out, Izuku dropped his backpack by his usual place, "Here." He said and handed her a wooden bo staff.
She raised her eyebrows at him, "That's pretty cocky, you're not going to use a weapon?"
Izuku shook his head, "No, start whenever, unless you want me to blindfold myself."
June raised her eyebrows once again, "Motherfucker." She hissed, "Put on the blindfold if you're so sure of it."
Izuku grinned and took a bandana out of his bag. Once he folded it around his eyes he gave her a 'come at me' gesture.
He could hear her untrained feet move, a bit on the loud side. But still detectable. He leaned back when she tried to poke the staff at him. She then quickly improvised and moved it to him at a rapid speed.
He then ducked and grabbed the staff in one hand, smirking slightly. He then pulled it towards him hard, causing her to bump against him. Expertly placing the long weapon but her throat with her pressed against him.
"Do you give up?" He teased.
She struggled a few more seconds before sighing, "Yes." Once he released her, "How the flying fuck did you do that?"
He pulled the bandana to his neck, "I've been training since a young age, silly." He said and placed the bo staff back, "I have a black belt, and mastered about 4 weapons." He grinned at her awestruck face.
"I see why the academy didn't want to wait." She said under her breath. "Is there anything you can't do?"
"Sing." He said and shrugged, "I did lessons with a little brother figure of mine, found out i really like the electric guitar, and definitely can't sing."
He then sheepishly added, "And i used my quirk a bit, you know about molding. To sum it up, I can break it down to a molecular level. Which is why i can reach out to the air molecules and detect someone."
"That's hot." She deadpanned under her breath.
The boy grew awfully quiet, and turned into an extreme shade of red, "W-What?" He stuttered out.
The girl just took a step closer to him, grabbed him by the collar and smashed her lips against his.
Izuku didn't kiss back, why? He was in shock.
Once she pulled away she grinned at his face. "I don't think that happens a lot to you." She too, was red. But only a bit.
"I-I, W-what?" He stuttered out once again.
"Let's try that again shall we?" June said and smashed her lips against his once again. This time Izuku saw it coming and kissed back, 'her lips feel kind of rough' he thought and just pulled away.
"I-Is this what you were trying to say last time we saw each other?" The green bean asked softly.
June gulped and nodded yes, "We'll be graduating in two years, relationships won't work now. So why not try something casual?" she then frowned, "Unless you don't want to."
Izuku weighed the pro's and con's about it, 'he could do whatever, it wouldn't interfere with his studying, it's not as if they'll be sleeping together, right?'
"Izuku."
his head snapped towards hers.
"Stop muttering, i literally can't understand any of it. But i'd really like an answer now." She mumbled out. Izuku just straightened his back and pressed his lips towards hers.
"We'll need to set some rules." He said softly, "Things like this don't always go well." June nodded at his statement.
Izuku held up his little notepad, appearing it out of thin air. "Rule number one, only platonic feelings. Number two, no sex." He sent her a look when she was about to open her mouth, no doubt to complain. "Number three, it won't interfere with our schedule."
June nodded and listed her rules off, "Number four, keep it a secret, it won't help if the rest know of it." Izuku nodded at that and wrote it down in his book. "Number five, no getting jealous, and, number six, put an end to it when one of us has a relationship. Also, question."
"Shoot." Izuku replied.
"I'm still allowed to touch you right?" She asked, with a look directed at his stomach.
Izuku thought about it, "Just, not too intimate, no going way down there."
June nodded, agreeing with that, "Well with that being said, I already feel less stressed." She winked at him. "Can we go now? I'm not sure if there are cameras here." she quickly took a look around.
"There aren't, but a lot of people have access here." He shrugged. "And we can go now." He picked up his backpack.
"How long have we even been here," June questioned.
"About 20 minutes." Izuku said, checking his watch.
"Damn."
She pulled him into the elevator, just before whispering, "Happy 16th Izu-kun." He just grinned and leaned in.
Three days later.
"Fuck." Bateman cussed.
Not a minute after he felt a wooden spoon hit the back of his head "Ah! What was that for?, Settimo appeared behind him, glaring, "Izuku is there. How dare you cuss with the literal sun around."
Izuku looked up from his materials he was ordering, confused, as his baymax started inflating, he slid his headphones off and followed the white robot with his eyes. "What?" He mumbled under his breath.
Baymax stood by Bateman and asked the usual things, "I'm fine Baymax, thank you for your concern."
The white robot did a quick scan and handed the cyborg a lollipop, then, Baymax made his way back to his usual place and deflated.
Izuku then turned to his friends with a grin on his face, "Look what i just learned." He showed two different coloured pieces of metal stuck against each other.
Settimo took a closer inspection, "This is so cleanly done, how did you weld this together?" She questioned with wide eyes.
Izuku grinned like a mad scientist, "I used my quirk, I just mixed the molecules together, and now it looks like there barely is a scratch. " He said and dusted off the metal.
"Genius." Bateman mumbled from his workbench. "How is your robot even? I'm still putting together the last of the program."
"I'm done," Izuku hummed, "I just double checked the finishing product together, and set a basic program, depending on how the client wants it." He said proudly, "I do have to finish my support course project today though, a few tests will do." He said softly and looked at the box under his desk.
"What are you working on?" Settimo asked from her makeshift stove.
"A shield! It's based on an old comic book, Marvel?"
"How are your lessons even going? A friend of yours told me that you don't have to go to chemistry anymore." Bateman noted.
"I don't have to go to chemistry and support courses. I'm ahead of those." Izuku confirmed. Batemans jaw dropped, "Geez, and your plans after this?"
"Hero course, back in Japan." He said, "But it depends who would take me, I'm glad our client is someone from U.A., connections are good." He quickly added.
"You already have so many connections." Settimo noted as she mixed her pasta and sauce in a bowl.
Izuku turned a bit red and rubbed the back of his neck. "Well…" He turned quiet after thinking for a bit, he sighed, "That's true, I don't want to make you guys feel as if I'm rubbing it in your faces." He said and hung his head.
Settimo slid a bowl of an italian dish in front of him, "You're not rubbing it in our faces, you're just a genius with good parents and friends." She comforted him, "Now eat before I have to take out the spoon. Bring some to June too, you have to teach how you feed her."
Izuku nodded and started eating his food.
The broccoli boy scanned himself in and said loudly,"Dinner is her-". He got interrupted by June, she slid her arms around his neck.
He still hasn't gotten used to it, after a few seconds he started to kiss back and wrap his hands around his waist, hesitantly.
"I still haven't finished my program, I'm stuck somewhere. Double check it for me?" She asked and gave him a sheepish smile.
He detached himself from her and set down at her desk, "You eat in the meanwhile." He said strictly, putting an aura around him, just like his dad taught him.
The girl nodded and started eating.
"That concludes my presentation. All Might could use this shield. His combat is more directed to brutal strength, whilst not being able to defend himself."
He put a compact version of the shield around his arm, and clenched his fist tightly along with shrugging his arm down. Activating the shield into its round shape. "It's able to withhold any great power of a quirk. Will cancel any electric quirk that would hit it."
The boy said proudly, doing the same movement again, causing it to shape back into the long forearm padding. He bowed as the jury clapped.
He was pleased with the grades he received, it wasn't bad or anything. But some did disappoint him, just like Japanese literature, and history. He knows history is important, to recognise mistakes and not repeat the past.
He felt a flick on the back of his head, "You're muttering Izu-kun." June whispered, motioning to Bateman surprisingly asleep on his desk.
"How are your grades?" He whispered back.
June grinned at him, "They're great, I did expect a bit higher." She pouted a bit.
"I'm sure, when are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow, what plane are you going on?"
He showed her his ticket, "You're on the same plane as me! Stewardess at your service." She mocked saluted him.
Izuku laughed and mock saluted her back, "At ease, stewardess."
A/N: Crazybeebee: I might even have two words to sum everything up
