At Funland Steven was on the ground of wooden rubble, waking up in a haze, with a anxious look on his face as he heard nothing but ringing in his ears, looking around seeing Funland in ruins with giant teacups spread across the park and numerous of people looking to be hurt or dazed, Lapis was there along with Blue Pearl, Violet Pearl, Anaya, Pearl, Yellow Pearl, Onyx, Peridot, Jewel, Soren, Pink Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet who looked worried at him as he did as well.
2 Weeks Later
The Gems warpped towards a large field of pink flowers and strawberries for their mission as Steven had his ukulele with him on his back with Lapis near his side as Pearl who smiled told him. "Pay attention Steven, this is going to be your first serious mission. You need to be ready." Steven began to go upside down in the Warp and said excitedly.
"Yes! I'm ready, I'm so ready!" Pearl then turns him upright and tells him thoughtfully. "Careful Steven, you're gonna make yourself sick." He nodded while going back upright, which caused his ukulele to hit Pearl in the eye by mistake as she asked. "Why did you bring that?"
Steven tells her. "I don't know! I was excited, and i-it's mine, and I like it!" He notices the ukulele drifting away and floats after it, which Pearl noticed. "Steven get back here! You could get seriously-" Before she finished they made it to the area.
Gem Battlefield
"...Hurt!" Pearl finished right as they made it to the Battlefield as Steven warped several feet into the air and several yards away and falls, covering him in strawberry juice from the strawberries he landed in and groans. "Steven! Are you-" Before Pearl finished, Steven stood with a smile. "I-I'm fine! I'm good, I'm just...Gooey."
He said as he licks his arm of the strawberry juice and sees a bunch of butterflies swarm up to him, clinging to his face making him shout. "Aah! They're in my eyes!" He frantically runs, yelling before tripping as Lapis flew over and helped him up before telling him with a small smile as she swats the butterflies away.
"They're just butterflies, Steven."
He gets up, laughing. "They looked a lot bigger when they were on my eyeballs." She giggled a bit before they heard laughing from Soren, Amethyst, and Pink Pearl. "Steven, you're a riot!" Amethyst told him as they continued laughing before Onyx stopped them. "Let's go and recover the gemstone before it's too late." They all then walked through the field, littered with swords stuck in the ground and tangled in plants.
"Unbelievable, this was once a Gem battlefield, now it's wild strawberries as far as the eye can see!" Pearl said with a smile as told her family and the others. "Oh, that's what I love about the Earth! Maybe this will be a light mission after all." They soon ceased walking and spotted a Pyramid Temple not so far from them as Pearl recorrected herself. "Maybe not."
As they walk towards it, she soon summons a missing piece of the Pyramid and places it into the slot shown on it, making the door open up as Steven looked at it in amazement before they all entered the temple together.
Inside the Pyramid Temple
"Woah! Steven's the best!" Steven shouted happily inside when he heard an echo as his voice echoes back. "Steven's the best!" Steven said with a smile. "Why thank you, temple." He laughed before running over to a floating Pyramid model in the center as he asked. "Hey, what's this thing? It's like a cool floaty triangle thing."
Pearl tells him. "Whatever it is, you probably shouldn't touch it." Amethyst yawns from Pearl's talking as it was too late, Steven touches the floating triangle and makes it float upside down causing the temple to begin shaking, noticing this the Gems to quickly rush to Steven for protection as the Pyramid Temple begins to disintegrate as something begins to suck them up to the ceiling.
"Steven! What have we told you about touching magical things?" Pearl asked as Steven told her. "Definitely...Always...Never do it!" They then all begin to float up and then fall straight down the hole, leading to an inner chamber as they all land gracefully with different poses, except for Steven, who was caught by Lapis as the hole above them is covered before the torches light up all around them.
As they look around Soren told Amethyst, Pink Pearl, and the others. "Looks like we're gonna have to split up." The two nodded in agreement as Pearl looked at Steven and told everyone. "Steven, Lapis and I will stay right here where it seems to be safe, while you guys go and solve the mystery of this place."
"Wait, I want to help solve the mystery!"
Steven told her as Lapis told Pearl with a smile. "Yeah, come on Pearl we can do it." As she picks Steven up he smiled and shouted. "Yeah, mystery solvers!" Pearl looked at the others and then the two before telling them, giving a small smile.
"Ok, but remember, this is a serious mission." Steven nodded to her. "Understood. Serious Steven!" After telling them, Lapis put him down as he hums and said. "I need to be standing or else it doesn't work."
Pearl then reminds him. "But this could be the teacups all over again." He tells them. "Hey, I've put that behind me!" He then began to walk down the corridor, singing as Lapis and Pearl go with him while the others head down the other doors with Anaya, Blue, and Violet heading down one door together. "Oooh, we're on a magic treasure hunt, for some magic treasure junk! Something, something, magic something!" They soon enter an open room as the door closes behind them.
"Huh?" He said confused as the room begins to randomly light up from some of the glowing panels all around the room as Pearl examined the ground and told the two. "We need to stay on the glowing panels." They gave a nod. "Right! Serious Steven!" Steven begins to dance through the lights, but the temple shakes, making him falls onto a non-glowing panel.
Noticing this the panels change from white to red and begin to fall into a pit of open flames and possibly lava, causing Steven to cling to a panel as the one beneath him falls. "Steven!" The two shout as they hurried and saved Steven from falling, with Lapis carrying Steven as the three of them go through the area to the end together as Steven looked up at the two and said with a smile. "Woohoo! That was fun!" He then changes his tone with a smile.
"And uh, seriously dangerous, thank you Lapis and Pearl." Then they began to walk into another chamber, once there another door closes behind them, startling Steven as Lapis and Pearl looked worried at him. "We can take a break if you're not feeling well, Steven."
Pearl told him with Lapis nodded. "Huh? Oh, no. I'm okay! Let's keep going!" He said happily as they continue walking. "Ok, but be careful, you might trigger a trap." Lapis said as Steven agreed. "Right. Don't worry I'll use my minds." He begins to inspect the wall, humming to himself.
"Maybe there's a clue hidden in these ancient drawings. It looks like, there are lots of triangles hidden somewhere in this room."
While feeling around the walls, pushing in a section, causing them to look a bit surprised and worried before Pearl shouted. "Run!" As they did so a trap is triggered as ceiling spikes begin to descend which tears Steven's shirt a bit, making him drop his ukulele as Pearl and Lapis step in to help him as Lapis uses her water ability to stop the spikes from crushing them.
"Ah, my ukulele!" Steven said as he grabs it in time before the three of them rushed to end of the chamber, once there the three began to pant after surviving the death trap as Lapis told them. "Now that was a pretty close one." Steven laughed nervously and agreed. "Yeah, that was a pretty...Close...One." He stopped noticing the next room they made it to now.
The room they've entered was full of swinging blades, falling lava, and spikes, which made Steven appear both nauseated and frightened by the side of it as Lapis told him. "Get ready, Steven. This is gonna be intense." By saying that it began to bring back memory to Steven of what happened 2 weeks ago.
Flashback
2 weeks earlier Steven and the Gems prepare themselves to ride The Teacups ride in Beach City Funland, operated by the one and only Mr. Smiley. "Get ready Steven. This is gonna be intense." Lapis said smiling as Steven said smiling as well. "I'm ready!" After that they got on the ride, while on it Pearl was holding a teapot sitting with Onyx, Jewel, and Peridot who looked confused as she noticed.
"I misunderstood the point of this ride."
As she told them, Soren, Amethyst, and Pink Pearl are seen in a cup nearby, either sleeping or dozing off as the others enjoyed the ride, while on it Lapis smiled and told Steven. "This is fun, Steven." Before laughing happily before noticing Steven looking a bit off as she asked. "Steven are you ok?"
"I think I need to get off this ride now." He said looking sick as he jumps off ride shocking Lapis as she gasped and said worriedly. "Steven, no!" It was too late as Steven falls on Mr. Smiley by accident, breaking the lever to the ride, which Smiley noticed as he laughed a bit nervously, looking up as all of the cups fly off the ride, causing mass destruction, soon bringing it back to how it all started.
Everyone was bewildered or injured, the Gems looked shocked, even Anaya, Blue Pearl, Violet Pearl were helping the few people that needed help the most, as after seeing this, Steven then was picked up by Mr. Smiley by the shirt as Smiley laughed. "Hahaha...Steven! You are banned from all the rides! ...Forever!"
End of Flashback
After witnessing the flashback Steven notices that he, Lapis and Pearl are at the end of the chamber they made it into. "Whoa. We made it?" Lapis nodded as Pearl told him. "We carried you while you took a nap." They all continued their way to the next room as Steven followed, once through the next door they found themselves back in the main chamber.
"We're...Back where we started?" Pearl said confused as Steven said surprised. "Whaaat?" Soon some of the others appeared as Yellow Pearl said. "Pearl, there you are!" Onyx looked and told her looking as confused as she was. "The doors and rooms here make no sense, they all bring you back here!"
As on cue, Soren, Amethyst, and Pink Pearl came out of a door running, before groaning. "Get us out of here!" Amethyst said in distress as they run into another door. "There are sixteen doors, and we entered from the northeast and went through three consecutive rooms in a straight line," Anaya said before they then saw the three returned with Amethyst having a bear trap on her head, which she removes as they run back to the same door.
"But arrived back here out the southern-most door, which could only mean...Well, we don't know what it means!" After saying that the three came in running again, except Soren who was frozen in a solid block of ice being pushed by the two as Pink shouted. "This is a death trap!"
She then summoned her Spear as Amethyst summoned her Whip, both trying to break Soren free while his body heat slowly minimizes the ice he's temporarily imprisoned in. "W-What do we do?" Steven asked worriedly and curiously as Pearl answered. "Easy, we go back in again. And again...And again...And again till we find the exit out of here."
"I can't!"
Everyone looked at Steven as Pearl told him of her cares. "It's okay Steven." He then told her and the others. "No, no it's not, you were all right about me. I wanted to do this so bad, but now I feel like I'm gonna throw up. This is just like the teacups!" When he finished Pearl then told him.
"Oh, Steven, I-I didn't really mean that." Steven then realized. "Wait! Ah! Wait, you guys, what if this is just like the teacups? That's why we're getting so lost. That's why I'm feeling so sick. All the rooms are spinning us around so we end up here!" Hearing this the Gems looked at one another before Pearl summoned her Spear, jumped and pierced the center of the room.
This caused cracks to form before the floor broke apart, revealing a hidden lower room filled with spinning upside down pyramids, orbiting around a central floating Obelisk embedded with a Gemstone. "Whoa!" Said the amazed Steven as they all witness it. "This is unbelievable!" Pearl told them as she projects a hologram of rooms they're in.
"This is a Gem-powered mechanism! It's manipulating the rooms above. Every room we entered spun us until we came back to the central chamber! It's just like the teacups ride at Funland like Steven said!" When she removed the hologram Steven notices the Gemstone in the Obelisk and gasps. "Lapis, I need to get off the ride now."
He said with a smile as she nods before saying, smiling too. "Serious Steven." She then picks him up and throws him, allowing him to lands on the Obelisk before tugging at the Gemstone in the center causing it to glow and then eject, as after the power source was removed, the Pyramid's energy becomes absorbed back into the gemstone causing the Pyramid Temple to explode, creating a massive crater.
Gem Battlefield
"Steven? Steven?! Where is he?" Lapis asked as they emerged from the crater as while they all looked Pearl soon spotted him and said with a smile. "He's over here." Steven gets up still holding gem, covered in strawberry juice as Pearl said surprised. "The Gem." She and the others head over to Steven with a smile.
After handing Pearl the Gemstone which she bubbled she told him happily. "I'd say you handled that adventure very well." She then bubbles the Gemstone away. "Nice job, Serious Steven," Soren told him as Lapis told him with a smile. "I prefer regular Steven." She then hands over his ukulele as he smiled.
"Hey, my ukulele!" He then tunes the ukulele and then sings. "Oh...That's the end of another day. It was mighty serious, I'd have to say. The Crystal Gems looked really cool when they made the temple exploooodde!" He was interrupted by the butterflies again and shouts as he runs around. "Aah! They're in my eyes again! While running Lapis goes after him to help get rid of the butterflies.
