In front of Funland Arcade the Gems, Lapis and Steven were sitting together on a bench. While Steven washes sand off of his feet at a faucet near them when Amethyst, Pink Pearl, and Soren approached with the purple Gem carring a cup of fries that looked extremely off. "Hey, Steven. You wanna try some special new french fries?"

"Do I!" Steven and Lapis took a handful of fries and ate it, causing the three to laugh which the two, ignorantly, join in on before Lapis realized something. "Wait why are the fries so-?" "HOOOOOT!" She looked over to see Steven's face as red as the fries themselves before glaring at the three as Soren revealed to them. "They're special because they're seasoned with Fire Salt!"

Pink Pearl then pulled out a vial of the said salt to show them as Steven quickly attempts to turn the faucet back on only for the valve to break off. Before Lapis could offer to help him he got off the bench and sprints towards the Big Donut as the others looked on.

Inside the Big Donut

Anaya sat a table stirring some sugar and cream into the coffee she had ordered with her donut. Violet and Blue Pearl had to leave for an important mission they were sent on by Pearl, leaving Anaya to have a bit of time by herself until they get back, before she could even take a sip, Steven bursts in, causing her to jump a bit and watch as he rushes to the soda fountain and sprays two types of soda in his mouth, causing soda to spill onto the floor creating a large puddle.

"Steven! What are you-" Before Lars could finish he slipped and fell on the puddle of soda, landing on his side. "Sowwy, Lars." Steven said exhausted, tongue still burnt by the Fire Salt. As Lapis entered the Big Donut looking worried at Steven, she walked over to him and asked. "Are you ok Steven?"

He nodded with his tongue still sticking out as Lars told him. "Ugh, Steven! Who do you think has to clean up this mess?" He then looked over at Sadie. "Sadie, clean up this mess."

"No way, it's your turn. I cleaned the last five Stevens."

Steven and Lapis looked at her after she mentioned the young Gem as Lars told her. "Aww, come on. That fall messed up my back." He began to get up rubbing his side. "It hurts, really bad." Sadie just rolls her eyes and brought out the mop and bucket.

"Fine. Move aside, I'll take care of this. Could you grab the soap?" Lars belts out a faked agonizing groan, exaggerating as he bends his body into a distressed manner. "Oh! It hurts! Sooo much!"

Sadie became concerned. "Maybe you should take the day off..." Lars then snaps upright with a smile. "Okay! Are you gonna be fine on your own?" He asked as Sadie looked at the floor. "Well, I guess so, but-" Before she could finish Lars cut her off, walking out. "You're the best, Player Two!" He then left, causing Sadie to blush.

"Aww..." She then realized, snapping back to reality. "Wait, I can't run this place by myself!" Steven then walks over with some napkins and drops them directly on the puddle. "We can help!" Lapis told Sadie as she used her water abilities to pick up the soda leading it outside as Anaya opened the door as the soda spilt into the grass. "Yeah, four is better than one right?"

With a smile Steven told Sadie. "Anaya's right, plus This place has given me so many delicious donuts. It's time we gave back." Soon Sadie gave the three a Big Donut uniform, basically being a purple shirt with a donut as she announced to them while they put the shirts on.

"I hereby deputize you three as Lars-for-the-day. Now, it's time I showed you the Employee Room."

Once they've entered the backroom, which is populated by several large supply boxes on the right, over a dozen Donut boxes lining the back left, along with an old TV, two folding chairs and a small circular table furnishing the front left as Steven looked amazed. "Woah, this is the most magical place I've ever seen."

"Let me give you guys the tour." Sadie directs them to the boxes. "These are the extra supplies. Cups, plastic silverware...Sometimes I sleep on the napkins when I get tired." Sadie admitted, scratching the back of her head as Steven asked jokingly. "Is that why they're called, nap-kins?"

This caused Lapis and Anaya to give a bit of a laugh. "Not really, no. Good joke, though." Sadie told him as she then directs them to the folding chairs, table and TV itself. "On breaks, we chill out here. We can even watch shows and movies here on the TV." She then whispers.

"Sometimes, Lars will cover for me so I can watch Canine Court." The three made a, "My lips are sealed." movement before Sadie drew them to another pile of boxes. "Now, most important of all, this is where we store, the donuts. They're mailed in from some corporate bake-station."

The three became curious. "You mean you don't make them here?" Steven questioned was answered as Sadie looked over at the corner. "No, not since...The accident." It was revealed that there was a blast mark on the wall outlining a body of one of the previous employee's.

"Now this job is a big responsibility, so you're all gonna have to watch this video tape." Sadie then places the tape into the VHS as Lapis asked. "What is it?" Sadie tells them as she plays the video. "It's like a DVD shaped like a box, and it'll tell you everything you need to know. "

The tape then plays, revealing the young Mr. Smiley who sung the song of the Big Donut as its star. "... Mr. Smiley used to work here?" Anaya asked which the Big Donut employee told them. "No, but he used to be an actor/R&B singer." After telling them they continued to watch the VHS tape.

Later

As the video reached its end Steven who was watching smiled along with Lapis and Anaya, enjoying it and or the song, Do or Do Nut. After it informs them about routine procedures such as the Heimlich maneuver through Mr. Smiley's singing, it ended, the bored Sadie began feeling less bored now.

"Wow, that was great! Are all video tapes that informative?" Steven questioned as Sadie pulls the tape out and place it back in its box. "In my experience, yeah!" They then went back to the front of the store. "It started out as just a summer job, but...That was two summers ago."

Sadie had explained, handing a bag to Mr. Fryman and Peedee who left as Mr. Smiley approaches the counter, humming, figuring out what he should order. "Hmm, I'll have a-" Becoming excited, Steven cuts him off, repeating the song lyrics from the video tape.

"Donuts! At the Big, Donut!" This surprised Mr. Smiley who then joins in. "Hey! They make the world go round." He then chuckles as Steven tells him. "Wow, I can't believe you used to be a real actor/R&B singer!" Mr. Smiley lost his smile. "Used to be?" He questioned before leaving while mumbling. "Kids these days, they don't know anything..."

After he exits Sadie who watched Smiley leave, holds her head surprised. "Wow, I'm impressed, last time someone mentioned that song we couldn't get Mr. Smiley to go home."

"To perk up, you gotta percolate, a hot cup of coffee, makes the perfect day." Steven sung as Anaya, Lapis, and Sadie laughed a bit. "Haha, thanks." Sadie said playfully as she grabbed the coffee. "Maybe I should phone up Lars to tell him he can stay home, 'cause I found his replacements.

She then chuckles as Anaya asked curiously. "Really?" Sadie then told them. "Oh, no. That was a joke." Steven then looked at the two Gems before telling Sadie. "I know we both love Lars...But..." He then speaks fast as Sadie's eyes were wide. "This job is the best thing to ever happen to us and we should fire Lars.'

"We can't "fire Lars"."

Steven bends downs with a groan ad asked while looking up suspiciously. "Why not?" Sadie began to have a blush appear on her face a bit before telling them. "Well, you know, he may do things like come in late, and leave all the really hard work for me but..." She noticed the others staring.

"Look, I like Lars, he-he's a nice guy...Once you get to know him. There was this one time when the new Army of War game was coming out, but Lars was banned from the only place selling it." She gave a laugh. "He wanted it so bad. So who does he beg to stand in line for SEVEN hours?"

Sadie points to herself. "Me. I didn't think much of it, but when I got to his house I saw he cleaned up his room a little, and he got a big box of Oyster crackers. They're my favorite. He let me be his Player Two, and we spent the whole night together." She finished while staring admiringly into her coffee.

"That really is nice..." Steven told Sadie as Lapis added. "Must've been one great video game." This snapped the Big Donut employee back to them and nod. "Yeah, it was..." Anaya hummed and snaps her fingers. "Maybe we could do something nice for Lars in return?" They each looked at each other before giving a smile.

Later

In the neighborhood, the four began to walk to Lars' house with a large box of donuts which Sadie was holding as Steven sings. "Donuts! D-d-donuts! Donuts, donuts, donuts, donuts donuts, donuts!"

"I thought you wanted this to be a surprise? He can hear us a mile away."

Sadie told him as Lapis smiled at Steven who stops singing as they approach the front door of Lars' home. "But the Donut fever's fries my soul. Ah-hahaha." After Sadie rustles his hair Anaya realized something. "Huh?" They then looked and noticed the Fish Stew Pizza Car parked out front. "Aw, he's already ordered pizza," Steven said in despair as they hear Lars laughing from his backyard.

"I thought Lars was inside recovering?" He questioned as they peaked in the backyard and saw him jumping on a trampoline with Sour Cream, Buck Dewey, and Jenny who bumps into Lars. "Oof. Hey, Lars, thanks for inviting us over." He gives a laugh. "No problem, 'cause I got the whole day off, by faking a severe back injury!"

Both Jenny and Sour Cream high-five him, all unaware of the three Gems and Sadie. Steven, Lapis, Anaya looked disgusting. "Ugh, he was faking this whole-" Before Steven finished they looked back and noticed an emotionally distraught Sadie who, in tears, dropped the box of donuts and ran off as the other followed before seeing her facing away, recoiling at seeing the Pizza Car once more.

"Uh, don't worry! We can handle the Big Donut. Who needs crummy old Lars?" Steven tried to cheer up Sadie who turned to them and said emotionally. "Steven! He's made a fool of me!" She began to tear up, telling herself. "IDIOT! He's burned me before..." She then became angry. "Just once, I'd like to burn him back!"

When she mentioned burning Lars back, this gave the two Gems an idea as Steven said happily. "We know how to burn people!" Sadie looked at them almost shocked along Anaya before Lapis told them. "No, not like that, just...Anaya, come with us." She nodded as Steven told Sadie. "Wait right here-" Before they left he then told her, turning back. "Actually...This might take a while, you better go home. See you tomorrow at work!" They then ran off.

Next Day

In the breakroom of the Big Donut, Sadie was watching her favorite show, Canine Court while eating oyster crackers when the three bursts into the room. "Fire Salt!" Steven announced revealing the vial of the said salt. They ran over to the table holding a plate with a glazed donut on it. "It burns a person's tongue like a pepper." Before the young Gem could apply the Fire Salt Sadie stops them.

"You know we can't add anything to the donuts!"

Anaya tells her. "It's just a little Fire Salt. We were going to prank Lars for what he did to you." Sadie became embarrassed. "He did really hurt my feelings...A little. But what kind of person does that make you, if you try to hurt him back?" She questioned them which Steven answered.

"Uh, a hero?" Before Sadie could even tell them anything else a front doorbell goes off along with Lars' fake groan as she enters the store. Unaware that the four were able to see him enter through the racks of donuts. "Huu! Oh, my back! Sadie? I finally got out of bed but I don't think I can work today, either..."

As he noticed nobody was in front, Sadie started to become made hearing and seeing his lie and fake injured look. "Sadie? Don't make me walk all the way to the break room." Having enough, enraged, Sadie began to apply a heavy dose of the Fire Salt to the top of the donut, making it look like a colorful frosting on top.

"Sadie! This is gonna be soo funny!"

In the front, Lars asked. "Yo, Sadie, where you at? Are you slacking off?" When he looked away from the front Sadie and the others came in. "Lars." Sadie greeted coldly as Steven greeted happily. "Hi, Lars!" He looked at him and the two Gems and asked. "Why are Steven and his friends in a Donut suit?"

"Don't worry about that. How's your back?" When his friend asked Lars answered. "Actually, it still hurts like-" She cuts him off. "Really?" He waves a hand to her. "No, no, it's cool. I know I can count on you to help, P2." Sadie kept her cold look and nodded. "Sure. Just relax, in fact, why don't you have a donut?"

When presented the Fire Salt donut he gave a bit of a smile. "Yeah, alright." She then warned him. "Careful, it's a little hot." Steven's excitement began to build, which Lapis noticed and whispered. "Hold it in." He nodded as they watched Lars take a bite before telling them. "Hey, this is pretty good, is this a new flavor or something?

"Hahahaha," Steven laughed, wiping a bit of a tear. "She...She said, "It's hot"!" At that moment, Lars' face swells up and he begins to breathe a tenacious current of fire which lights the store ablaze almost as he yells in a panic and pain.

Sadie gasped and grabbed an extinguisher. "Guys, help Lars!" She shouted as Steven got a cup of cold soda and handed it to Lars. "Quick, drink this!" Lars opened his mouth, burning the cup before he could drink it. In pain, he ran out of the store while holding his breath. "No, Lars! Come back!" Soon sprinklers come on as Sadie then told them.

"I didn't want this."

Lapis then realized something and told her. "Wait, I know how we can fix this! We just need to get Lars to calm down and I can try to use my powers to douse the Fire Salt from his mouth." When finished Sadie then asked worriedly.

"How are we gonna find him?"

Beach City

"I think he went this way!" Seconds after leaving the Big Donut the small group began to follow the path of flames left by Lars through the streets. Far from them and Lars, Mayor Dewey was holding a convention by a giant bowl of ice cream. "And of the many treasures of our wonderful city, this is certainly one of the sweetest,"

Dewey told the people in front of him as he continued. "As Mayor, I'm proud to unveil this, the largest bowl of ice cream in Beach county! Yes, let's all scream..." He checks the slip sheet beneath his sleeve before finishing.

"For ice cream." The crowd applauds before Lars appeared, flinging himself into the bowl of ice cream to cool himself, only causing the ice cream to melt entirely and cover the citizens in melted vanilla, chocolate, strawberry ice cream. Mayor Dewey looking disappointed takes out phone calling someone. "Yeah, it melted, Gary."

Talking is heard from it, which is Gary's response. "Well, you should've said that at the meeting!" As he walked off, Steven, Anaya, Sadie, Lapis passed and made it to the Funland Arcade which in front Lars falls on the beach the four close behind. When Steven arrived he sees Pink, Amethyst, and Soren to still be in their exact same positions as the day before.

"Guys!" After catching his breath Pink Pearl asked. "Why's the donut guy breathing fire?" Soren then asked. "Yeah, did he eat brimstone or something?"

Steven shook his head. "No, I tried to prank Lars but I used too much Fire Salt!" Amethyst laughed. "Steven...That's hilarious." The two laughed a bit as well, enjoying the same fries. Unaware, Lars overheard Steven.

"You...Did...This...TO ME?!"

Lars soon holds his fire breath and chases Steven around as the three looked on amused and laughing. While Lars accidentally lights much of the dock on fire, he soon grabs the tail of the young Gems shirt. As Lapis and Anaya were about to intervene Sadie shouts. "It wasn't Steven!" She began to approach the two.

"It was me." Lars became surprised and lets Steven go, ignoring the fire in his mouth. "Oh, now it's gettin' good!" Amethyst told Pink and Soren as Sadie continued. "After all, I do for you, you LIE to me? So you can sneak off with some other girl?!"

"And other boys!" Steven added in before retreating behind Lapis when Lars, who is still struggling to breathe, glares at him. "That night we played video games, I don't know what it meant to you. But ever since then, I can't get the thought out of my head that you're a good person."

Sadie who is tearing up now grabs Lars' hand. "That night, I really thought...Player Two. Is that just your way of saying I could've been anyone?" Now feeling guilty and regret Lars began trying to speak without breathing fire. "Sa-die-" He then coughs smoke a bit.

Noticing this from behind Lapis, Steven began to sing a part of that song from the VHS Tape. "If a customer chokes on a donut," He then rushes to Lars. "State law requires that you assist them! Take both hands, push below the di-a-phragm!" He does the Heimlich maneuver, making Lars coughs up a large portion of the donut which Sadie puts out, curing Lars.

"Another day saved by Steven Universe! With bonus musical styling of Harold Smiley. You're welcome." Steven finished saying to Lars who ignored Steven and ashamedly approached Sadie who continues to put out fires. Lars turns from facing her, grabbing his damaged throat. "I'm not apologizing."

Lars began to cough up a bit more smoke. "No! I wanna help. But I get it if you wanna be alone." Sadie looked back at him worried. "Oh, no no no, stay. I-I mean, you can help. But, first, let's get you some water, and maybe get you out of those burnt shirts." They both walked off from the pier as the others looked on.

"Hey, we make a pretty great team."

Steven, Lapis, Anaya looked back at them. "You guys were absolutely no help whatsoever." The three shrugged it off and continued to eat some fires. "So...What are you guys going to do now?" Soren asked as Anaya smiled and told them. "I'm going to go and see if Blue and Violet are back from their mission." As she left Lapis then told them.

"I think me and Steven are going to go back home and enjoy some time together. Right, Steven?" She gave a wink, earning a laugh from Steven as they both head back to the Beach House too.

Later

Inside Anaya's home, she and both of the Pearl's were holding a meeting together between them about that event that happened in Steven/Rose's room, about Anaya herself and Blue Diamond being connected which was told by the Rose painting. When reminded of that part she then asked curiously. "Blue Pearl, Violet Pearl. Do you have any idea how the painting knew that?"

"We're not sure how?" Violet Pearl told her as she continued. "Could it be possible Rose knew about this in the future and left that as a message for us when we first enter her room?"

Anaya hummed before telling them. "Maybe...But we don't know...Unless the room knew, but that would be crazy, right?" Blue Pearl then tells her with shrug. "Not really...If Gems and Diamonds can be able to create things beyond human technology and fuse together, Rose can be able to predict the future and leave some sort of prophecy." When she finished Anaya then hummed.

"You're right...But when do you think it's going to happen?" She looked up at the sky from one of her windows as the Pear's did too before they gave a smile as Violet said. "It could be soon." Blue then finished. "We just have to wait, as the Rose painting said." Anaya gave a smile as well, giving a slight nod to them.
