"In the city that's known as Beach City live a team known as the Crystal Gems who are Guardians of Planet Earth, join them all as they will go through adventures, missions, meeting new and old allies, battle against Corruptions and Homeworld Gems, and also most of all romance, dates and love. Rated M.

56. Wrapped Master

"Are you sure the Corruption's here?" Pearl questioned the other Gems. They were on the isolated land known as Mask Island searching for a Gem Monster that has been detected on the island. Sadly they hit a wall, finding no sightings nor leftover activity from the Corruption. "It was." Said Garnet, proving with her Future Vision that this is the Gem Monster's last known location.

"Maybe it swam away?" Peridot theorized looking up at Jewel who hummed looking at the ocean before Pearl tells them. "We'll have to look." Over at the ocean Steven watched as Lapis used her powers to split the ocean open for any underwater footprints, leaving the young Gem to watch in amazement. "Whoa..."

Lapis looks back at the others and shook her head. "Nothing." She returns the water to normal and looks at the sky, which Anaya, Violet, and Blue Pearl noticed and look up as well. "Is it possible that it flew off?" Anaya asked which they all weren't sure of. Not long after failing to find the Corruption they began to leave with Amethyst announcing to those that were behind.

"Come on! it's time to go." While the remaining Crystal Gems walked to the Warp Pad Steven became displeased. "Awww, already? When they stood on top of the Warp Pad, Steven gasped and gave a grin. "Wait, wait, can I warp us back? Please?"

Onyx and Yellow Pearl looked at Pearl who gave a light smile and said. "Alright." Steven gives a fist pump. "Yes! Okay, here I go!" He extends his arms from both sides and starts to focus. Soon the Warp Stream beams the Crystal Gems away and back home to the Beach House.

Seconds Later

Appearing back home on top of the Crystal Temple's Warp Pad, Steven gave a gasp of excitement. "I did it! I'm the warp master!" Lapis tells him happily. "You sure are Steven." Pearl smiles and says. "You did great." Garnet nods. "Good job." Before anyone else could praise him for his first try.

"Steeeeveeen!"

Steven screams in fear at the sight of Amethyst's head being the shape of a mutated fly, causing him to fall off the Warp Pad. Soon after laughter erupted from both Soren and Pink Pearl with Amethyst joining in as her face returned to normal.

"Amethyst! That's not funny!" Pearl told her in anger while the others looked unfazed or surprised by the prank. Garnet shrugs. "Eh. It was a little funny." Yellow Pearl looks at her. "Regardless, we need to warp back out." Steven curiously asks and gets up. "Can I warp us there?" Onyx informs him. "Sorry Steven, this mission is going to be underwater." Right after Pearl adds in with a concerned smile. "And you still might need air to breathe."

Steven looks at Lapis who tells him with a small smile, knowing what he was going to ask. "Even if I was to make an air-bubble there wouldn't be enough air for you to breathe in."

Steven nodded understanding before Lapis hugged him. "But look on the bright side, I'll be here to watch over you." "Us too." They look at Blue, Violet, and Anaya, who tells them. "I'm most likely not going to be able to breathe as well." After finishing, Steven looked at Pearl and asked. "If we're staying, could I tell all my friends I'm the warp master?" Pearl shrugs and says.

"I guess, but-" She didn't get a chance to finish as Steven grabbed Lapis and Anaya's hand and brought them out of the house with Blue and Violet looks at the others before Blue said. "We better go with them." She and Violet Pearl then followed after the three that left.

Later at the Big Donut

"I'm a Warp Master!" Steven shouted after running inside of the Big Donut with Lapis, Blue Pearl, Anaya, and Violet Pearl by his side. "That's nice Steven." Said Sadie in a tired tone, laying her head on the counter with Lars by her side, sleeping with his feet on the top of the counter. "Steven..."

Lars muttered angrily in his sleep. Sadie ignored that and asked the four. "You guys want a donut?" Steven looks at Lapis who nods. Steven then held up two fingers. "Chocolate Jelly and Bavarian Cream Filled, please."

"Just the usual." Asked Anaya to Sadie who gave a nod. She looks at Lars and carefully tries to get over him but falls over, collapsing on top of Lars and waking him up. "Ugh-huh? Sadie! I like, just got to sleep! Now I have to start all over!"

Sadie begins to yell back at Lars. "Then don't sleep at the counter! I'm trying to work!" Lars continues to argue. "Why don't you, not work at the counter when I'm trying to sleep!"

While they argued Steven ponders a bit. Lapis noticed this and asked. "Something wrong Steven?" He nods and tells her and the other three. "Something is having a bad effect on their relationship...And their customer service." Finished they listened to the end of the two Donut worker's argument.

"You could get fired!" Lars crosses his arms and tells Sadie. "Who cares? I'm sick of this place. I wanna go somewhere new." Hearing this, Steven gasps in realization and shouts. "That's it! I'm the warp master!"

Sadie tells him. "Yeah, Steven. I know." Steven shook his head. "No, I mean I can take us on vacation! Somewhere warm, and beautiful, and magical. For just the two of you. And us!" He smiled, gesturing his hands to the four beside him. Lars and Sadie look at each other. "It could be worth a try."

Later at Mask Island

"We're here!" Shouted Steven with his hands gesturing wide to the opening. Behind him were Lapis, Blue Pearl, Violet Pearl, Anaya, Sadie, and Lars who had followed him here. Sadie and Lars were now in their normal outfits while Anaya, Violet, Blue, and Lapis remained in theirs. Well not entirely as Lapis who only wore her dress top, no bottoms to give Steven a bit more enjoyment for their vacation.

"Come on, this way!" The young Gem shouted with excitement while running. With the others following behind Lars looked around at the place, such as the plants, ground, trees, sky, and everything else. Not even 10 seconds he started to give off an unsure expression.

"This place is way too weird. I'm going home." Before he could turn back Steven stops him. "No, no follow me! You gotta see it!" Sadie then convinces her co-worker. "Come on, Lars! Give it a chance!" He gave off a grown. "Fine, but if it blows, I'm out of here." He points a thumb back to where the Warp Pad is before continuing their walk with Sadie looking slightly sad that Lars isn't too happy about this.

The group then walks through the island jungle and arrives at the sunny island beach surrounded in clean colorful sand and clear blue water. "Welcome to paradise!" Shouted Steven with open arms and a large grin.

"Oh, Steven, it's beautiful." Said Sadie with a glisten in her eyes at the sight. Lars had the opposite reaction. "It's a beach. WE LIVE ON A BEACH!" Steven points out to him happily. "It's a magical beach!" Lars asks while trying to get a connection on his phone. "Is that why my phone has no reception? Why were you even here?"

Anaya coughed with a bit of nervousness in her voice. "Uh...We were here to look for a dangerous Gem creature...That we never found." Lars wasn't too happy to hear that. "Yup, I'm gone." He turns around and walks away from the group with Sadie taking notice. "Huh? Lars? Wait, Lars, this could actually be kind of fun!"

"If I'm going to be bored out of my mind, and possibly die, I'm gonna go to work, and get paid for it." Lars continues on with Sadie going back to get him with the others coming as well to see if they can help. But upon making it back into the jungle, the Warp Pad, that was in the center of it all, was missing.

"Okay, where is it?"

Everyone looks at Lars confused. "What?" He faces Steven and points to the ground. "The teleporter thing! Where is it?!" Sadie became curious and asked. "Oh it wouldn't disappear, would it?" She looks at the Gems, Anaya looks at Blue, Violet, Lapis, and Steven too, unsure if the Warp Pad would go anywhere.

"Is it possible for the Warp Pad to do that?" Steven shook his head and answers her and Sadie. "No, no, no...Well, maybe." Lars looked shocked. "What?!" Steven tries to calm him. "It's okay! The Gems will come to save us when they see we're missing! Eventually..." Lapis adds in. "Unless they find the note on the fridge saying we went on a little vacation."

Lars started to freak-out and grabs Steven by the shoulders. "Steven! How could you do this?! We're stranded!" Sadie kindly separates Lars from Steven. "Calm down! Is this really the worst place to be stuck in?" Sadie isn't wrong. Mask Island's at least one of the best places to be stranded on.

"Ugh, you calm down." Lars told Sadie, he then takes out his phone. "I'm gonna find a better reception." He and Sadie follow the 5 Gems before reaching a waterfall with geode formations, which shined in the sunlight. "Well, I think it's amazing, guys." Sadie told Steven, Lapis, Anaya, and the two Pearl with Lars yelling in anger. "Nothing!"

Steven gasps in amazement. "Guys! Check it out! I found these rocks that look like pillows!" He points at the seven perfect white colored rocks nearby. "They look comfortable enough to sleep on." Lapis said to Steven as Sadie tells him. "Good job, Steven."

"My rock is too close to those other rocks." They all looked at Lars who then moves his rock far away from the others and lays down on it like a pillow. Steven sighs. "Sadie, I don't know what we're doing wrong."

Sadie agrees. "Tell me about it." Steven continues. "You were gonna love it here soooo much, you'd never want to leave." Lapis nodded before Sadie assures them.

"Don't worry, Lars is just a tough nut. He can't keep up the shtick forever." "I could do without the audio commentary!" He shouted far from them before laying back down. Steven sighs and lays on his rock-pillow with Lapis saying. "Goodnight Lapis, Anaya, Blue, Violet, Sadie..."

"Night, Steven." Sadie told him before they went to bed. Meanwhile, before the two Pearls went to sleep as well, they noticed Anaya with a notebook and pencil, taping the writing utensil on the side of her head. "What're you doing Anaya?" Violet Pearl curiously asked her. She stops taping the pencil on her head and writes in the notebook. "I'm trying to figure out a name for our new story. It's one of the reasons why I wanted us to come here."

Blue Pearl questions. "You want it to be based on the Island?" Anaya stops writing and nods. "Yeah, and since we're going to be stranded here for a while. I thought that maybe during our time around the Island, we could use parts of it as areas our protagonists could travel to."

"Sounds interesting." Admitted Violet who smiled along with Blue who then asked. "What about an Antagonist?" Anaya hummed before shrugging. "I'm not sure about that yet..." She then smiled. "But if we do run into the Corruption that was here, then maybe." After she finished she places the notebook and pencil back into her backpack.

She lets out a yawn and tells the Pearls. "We should go to bed now. Save our energy for tomorrow morning." The two agreed with her and began laying down as well, cuddling close to her before falling asleep together.

The Next Day

While Anaya sat on a comfortable rock under a shade, writing in her notebook with Violet and Blue by her sides, Sadie, Steven, and Lapis are trying to catch fish on the beach. "See anything?" Just after Lapis asked, a fish with a smiling face or mask jumps out of the water, startling Sadie, who attempts to catch it with a spear, but misses.

"Any late-lunch-early-dinner yet?" Steven asked after Lapis. "No luck," Sadie told them before looking at the two. "What about you two?" Steven looked at his handmade fishing line and looks at Lapis who shooked her head, surprisingly unable to catch anything with her water abilities no matter how much she tries.

Steven hums. "Mmm...No. But I can see why." Steven grabs the line and pulls it up, revealing a worm with a happy face, tied to the end of the fishing line. "My bait is too adorable to eat. Everything on this island has such a bright happy smile."

After telling her, they all hear a groan and look at Lars who's walking on the dry part of the beach. "No signal over here either." He walks away from the group before Sadie shouted. "Hey! Uh, maybe you should help out! If you wanna eat!" Lars covers his ears, trying to ignore her and the others.

"That's kinda rude." Said Lapis with Steven nodding in agreement, they then look at Sadie who began to grunt and stabs her spear into the water in frustration. Her eyes open in surprise and lift the spear, revealing seven smiling fishes. Steven cheers happily. "You did it, Sadie! We're gonna live!" He hugs Lapis with a grin who hugs back.

It stopped right after Sadie walked over to Lars. She grabs his attention by holding the speared fishes out to him. "I catch, you cook!" Lars ignorantly tells her. "You ain't the boss of me." Sadie convinces him to do so by grabbing his shirt and drag him away as he muttered. "Whatever."

Later at Nighttime

Finished cooking the fish that Sadie had caught, Lars pokes one of them with a stick and announces to the group. "I don't know, looks done to me." He places some of the cooked fish on a leaf. "Ooh! Who's first?" Steven raised his hand with a smile along with Lapis. In response, Lars hands two cooked fish to the two. Steven stares at his fish in what's supposed to be its eyes. Lapis notices this.

"What's wrong Steven?" He answers her. "It keeps looking at me!" Lars tells him. "Maybe it knows it's your fault for getting us lost." Blue Pearl whispered to Anaya. "Doesn't he know that it's dead?" She nodded to Blue before Lars gives them a fish each on a leaf before handing one to Sadie. "Thank you."

While she begins eating her fish, Lars continues to cook his fish, wanting it a bit more than well done. Steven sighs and put a leaf over the eyes of his fish in an attempt to try and eat it. Speaking of which, Sadie had just finished a bite of her fish and was amazed. "Mm-mmm! Lars, this is really good!"

"Hm?" Lars hummed. "You can really cook!" Said Sadie, complimenting his cooking. Lars gave a grin. "Heh, fire. Nature's microwave." Sadie giggles at Lars' statement, causing him to chuckle along too.

Steven and Lapis smile at each other and back at the friendly sight between Big Donut co-workers. When Anaya, Blue, Violet started eating, Steven stood up in joy and asked.

"Could this night get any better?!"

During this Steven begins to play his ukulele and along with Lapis, sings a song they called, Be Wherever You Are. As they sang orderly sections of the days they spent on Mask Island began to play, showing how the group is enjoying and or surviving on the island. Starting with Anaya, Blue Pearl, Violet Pearl walking through parts of the Island with the others, writing down the new story they're making based on the time they're spending on the Island.

Skip a few days later, Sadie, Lapis, and Steven are fishing for more food while Lars does the cooking. Not long after they built three huts together, one for Anaya and the two Pearls, one for Steven and Lapis, and one for Sadie and Lars. They also started making crystal necklaces, daisy chains, and grass skirts during their spare time, with Lapis making a coconut brassiere for herself. All of which improved the relationship between Lars and Sadie.

Even at one point, Lars saves Sadie from a giant fish that bit into her arm close to the water, which she attacked with the spear with the help of the others. While cooking the large fish they caught, Lars tended to Sadie's wound, using his pants as a bandage. Even later on hugging her in their sleep, which the Gems witnessed from the doorway of the hut, smiling at one another before heading back to their huts for a night of sleep.

Later in the Morning

Upon waking up, Sadie looks by her side and sees that Lars is no longer there. Curious she leaves the hut in search of him, only to find five of the Crystal Gems nearby. Blue, Violet, and Anaya were checking over the notebook of their story, and Steven was sitting with Lapis, tuning his ukulele to try and sing with her again.

"Guys, did you see where Lars went?"

Steven shrugs in response while Lapis tells her. "I think I saw him head over to the opening early. He had his phone out again." Sadie looks at where she pointed to and went there. It didn't take long for her to find Lars, talking to his cellphone again, trying to get some bars to call for help...Which failed.

"Hello? Come on. Come on!" Sadie, visibly saddened at the sight of Lars still on his phone, walks up to him, who began to sound a bit mad. "Dumb piece of junk! No bars. No bars! NO BARS!" He gives a short yell and tosses his phone out to the sea.

Sadie then worriedly asked him. "Did that... help?" "No!" Lars answered immediately before sitting down angrily. "I-It's just..." He looks up a bit, revealing his now watery eyes. "What if I never get back home?"

"Oh! You're just really homesick." Sadie said in realization. "Duh! What'd you think?" Lars asked before Sadie smiled at him. "No, It's okay." After that Lars broke down and started crying. "I mean we're okay!"

Sadie sits down next to Lars and hugs him in comfort. "Steven and the others said the Gems could be coming for us any day. And, you know...Until then, I got your back." She offers a fist bump to Lars, who instead started stroking her hand. "Sadie..." She looks at him.

"Do you ever get lonely...Even when you're around people...?" Lars asked, earning a sad nod from Sadie. She is suddenly surprised when and Lars kissed her. As a reaction, she started kissing back, both of them embracing each other at this moment...Unfortunately, it was interrupted when Steven started singing nearby, strumming his ukulele.

Looking back they were about to see him, Lapis, Blue, Anaya, and Violet, who looked a bit embarrassed when the two noticed them as Steven sung. "Why don't you let yourself just be-" Sadie and Lars suddenly yelled.

"STEVEN!"

The shout from both Lars and Sadie ceased the singing. Steven looked at them, seeing an embarrassed blush on their faces. "How long have you been watching us?!" Lars questioned them in a bit of annoyance. "Don't you know what privacy is?!" Sadie asked as well.

"People walk in and out of our room all the time." Said Steven, looking at Lapis since it's their room he's talking about. Lars hastily wipes away his tears before getting up. I'm gonna go start a fire." He walks off, with Sadie following him after snapping out of her love-struck grin and back to her senses.

"Hey, you don't have to go! We're kinda on our own schedule here!" She tells Lars while the others catch up to them. Just as they were about to reach their huts, the ground started to rumble. The sound of footsteps and groans are heard before Lars and Sadie's hut collapses, making Steven, Anaya, Sadie, and Lars scream in shock with Lapis, Violet, and Blue left surprised and confused.

Lars shouts. "What the heck?!" He latches on to Sadie protectively and in fear, earning dreamily sigh from her as she hugs one of his arms. During this Steven and Anaya approach the destroyed hut and see a gemstone on the ground. "Is that..." "A Gemstone?" Suddenly the said Gem floated from the ground dives towards them like a hammer.

"Aah!"

In a reaction of the scream, Steven's bubble forms and encases everyone in it. The Gemstone strikes the bubble, knocking them backwards away from it and off a cliff. The bubble pops when they landed on the ledge underneath the cliff they fell from. Right after, thunder is heard and it begins to rain, prompting Anaya to quickly put her notebook away before the rain could even damage it.

"We have to get out of here!" Anaya agrees with Steven. "I second that option!" They then made a runaway through the rain. "What was that thing?!"

Steven answers the scared Lars. "It must be what the Gems were looking for! The Corruption never left the island at all! It's invisible." Violet speaks. "So this entire time it was waiting for the right moment to attack us?!" Hearing this began to make Lars cry uncontrollably.

"I don't want to be here anymore! I-I-I want to go home! I wanna go home!" To everyone's surprise, Sadie grabs Lars and runs off. "This way!" Everyone listened and began to follow her through the jungle.

During this the thunder began to crackle more, causing rain to come down harder. Soon after stopping, Sadie grabs a pile of leaves and throws them aside, revealing the Warp Pad underneath. Leaving the Gems surprised, Lars piecing everything together, and Steven smiling.

"It's the Warp Pad!"

After throwing the leaves away, Sadie ran up to them and tries pulling Lars towards the Warp Pad. "Lars, come on! Let's go home!" He quickly glares at her with a heartbroken and anger mixed look before pulling his arm away from her. "You knew!" Steven looks at them. "Uh, guys?"

"We have a Cor-" Blue Pearl couldn't finish her sentence as Lars told them. "It's her fault we've been trapped here!" He pointed at Sadie, leaving Steven shocked. "What?!" Lapis shrugs. "Well, not really, the Warp Pad's still here."

Before Lars could argue, Sadie admits. "Look, I panicked! I hid the Warp Pad! You were just gonna leave, but I knew how much you really needed this! Why don't you ever let me help you?!" Lars repeats the end of her sentence. "Help me? Are you insane? You trapped me on an island, so you could come on to me!

He crossed his arms across his chest and began to sulk in disappointment. Sadie screams and begins to slap Lars. "You kissed me on...The mouth!" Lars yells back at her. "No, I didn't!" While Sadie slaps him the five began to notice that this might end up like the argument back at the Big Donut.

"Guys, I want to be mad too, but can we do it on the Warp Pad?!" It never happened as Sadie slaps Lars a little too hard knocking him off a cliff, causing him to scream and fall into a pit of mud. Making it to the bottom, the 6 ran towards the cliff with Sadie screaming. "Lars!"

The said co-worker slowly gets up from the muddy ground and groans in pain. He looks up at them and says. "I think I bruised something?" Suddenly the Invisible Gem Monster appears, its feet and hands slamming into the mud, charging towards Lars, leaving hand and footprints as it does so.

"Aah!" Lars screams in horror as the Corruption closes in. Quickly Sadie slides down the mud pit towards Lars before running forward, ramming into the Invisible Gem Monster, covering it's front torso and face in the mud. "Watch out!" Lapis and Blue Pearl ran in front of the Corruption, getting hit by it, knocking them and Sadie away, breaking Blue Pearl's Spear in the process.

The Invisible Gem lifts itself from the mud revealing an anger-ghost-like face. It roars and engages against the Gems. On instinct, Anaya and Violet ran towards the Corruption slashing or keeping it away with their weapons. In retaliation, the Corruption picks them up and throws them both away. Seeing this, Steven looks around for something to help his friends and spots the fishing spear Sadie made.

"Sadie!" He picks up and runs down the mud pit. "Quick, use your fish-murdering skills!" He hurls the spear down, which Sadie catches and screams, running towards the Corruption which knocks her. Refusing to give up, Sadie charges and jumps, stabbing the spear into the Invisible Corruptions back.

Soon the two Pearl's and Anaya join in and stab their weapons into either the back or sides of the monster. Steven cheers with a grin. "Take it down!" Steven, Lapis, and Lars watched as Sadie, the Gems, and the Invisible Gem Monster wrestle around in the mud pit.

"Stay down!" Lapis shouts, using her Water to pin the Corruption to the ground as it wails in pain allowing the four to impale their weapons all the way through it. The monster poofs away into a cloud, leaving only its gem in the mud. "Oh. I got this!" Steven told them as he picks up the Gem and bubbles it while Sadie supports herself with the Spear, giving a sigh in relief, glad it's over. "The Gems are gonna be so impressed. We captured the Gem all by ourselves!" Steven said with a smile.

Lars walks up and offers a high-five to Sadie, but she just walks past him, too worn out and a bit injured to raise her hand. After getting out of the pit they eventually make it back on the Warp Pad. There Steven hugs Lapis, telling her and the others. "That was amazing guys!"

"Yeah...That was really great, how you...Uh, s-saved me..." Lars told Sadie who said in a cold-tone. "Don't read into it." Anaya took her notebook out for a moment, writing down the last bit quickly while telling the two Pearl's. "This will be the best part of our book."

Steven then said to everyone. "We should do this again sometimes." Right after that, they Warped away from Mask Island, making them go back home to Beach City.

Later at Night

Upon making back home, Steven and Lapis bidded Sadie, Lars, Anaya, Blue, and Violet Pearl goodnight, the five left. Lars decided to help bring Sadie to the hospital to treat her injuries, and Violet, Blue Pearl, Anaya went back home to work on the book they were making. When it was just Steven and Lapis, they decided to get ready for bed now that it was reaching night.

After taking a quick showing, brushing his teeth, and changing back into his pajamas, Steven left the bathroom and went to his bedroom where Lapis was waiting for him. He gets in bed and tells her. "It feels good to be back home." Lapis nods in agreement, sitting on his bed, allowing him to notice she was still in the grass skirt and coconut brassire from before.

"You didn't change back yet? Why?" He asked curiously, earning a giggle from Lapis who tells him. "I was thinking if we could, you know...Have a little bit of fun before we end the night."

She placed her hand on Steven's, looking at his eyes, saying seductively. "Please? We haven't done it after spending a couple of days on the Island." Steven chuckled happily. "Sure Lapis. But I'm not sure if I'll last long." Lapis smiled, moving closer before bringing herself on top of her Bf.
