Rui VS Romance – Chapter 2
"Hmm… Where to start…" said Rui as he leaned back on his bed
As he was thinking, he glanced at Mukago, who was standing in front of the door.
"Why are you standing? Sit down." he said as he pointed at a chair next to her
"Ah! T-thank you!" she replied as she quickly sat down
Taking a deep breath, Rui started to tell his story.
"Well… as you might know, I'm pretty popular. A lot of girls keep bugging me and asking me out… It's getting annoying."
"I honestly don't care about going out with someone or having a girlfriend… or so I thought…" he continued
"Hmm?" Mukago murmured
"Well… you know… last week I met a girl. She was so beautiful… and I felt something I never felt before… Do you know that feeling?" he asked as he glanced at her
"IGHHHHH!" Mukago just squeaked and blushed
Not getting an answer, Rui went back to his story.
"Anyway, I was told that that was love… and for the first time in my life, I wanted to spend more time with a particular girl…" he said in a sad voice
"Ah… R-Rui…" Mukago replied
"Well… when I told her that, she said that she would really like to be my friend, but nothing more… And since that time she said that, I don't feel like doing anything…" he finished
As he stopped talking, he looked at Mukago who had a sad expression on her face.
"I'm sorry Rui…" she said in a sad tone
"What for? It has nothing to do with you. Anyway, if th-" as he was speaking, he was cut off
"If there is anything I can do to help you, please tell me!" Mukago yelled
"Huh?! W-what are you saying?" Rui replied as he was caught off guard by her reaction
"AH! I-I-I'm sorry! I shouldn't have yelled at you! B-but I really want to help you, Rui! I know how you feel now… b-but there is always somebody else with who you can fall in love with!" Mukago explained
Rui was just staring at her, not knowing what to say.
"Has… has this ever happened to you?" Rui asked out of curiosity
"Y-yes… When I was younger… There was this boy I really liked… But when I told him that, he told me that he had no feelings for me…" she explained, while looking at the ground, blushing
As she looked at Rui, he was looking at her, eager to hear more.
"S-so… at that time, I felt the same way as you. But after some time, I started to feel better and… well… I meet somebody else who I… liked…" she explained, trying to keep her secret
After hearing all that, Rui started to think about it.
"So… you would help me?" he asked
"Y-yes! If you need anything, just tell me!" Mukago replied
"Hmmm… I need to think about it. But in any case… thanks." Rui said
Hearing that, Mukago started to smile.
"Thank you for bringing my homework and for talking to me… I feel… better now." he explained, with a plain expression
"Ah! N-no problem! Will you come to school tomorrow?" Mukago asked with a smile
"Yeah…" he replied
"That's great!" said Mukago

"…"
"Ok, you can go now. Close the door behind you." replied Rui as he pointed at the door
"Eh!?" Mukago said confused
"See you tomorrow." Rui replied as he took out his phone and leaned back
"Ah… See you later…" Mukago replied confused as she left his room, closing the door behind her
"Ah… Rui…" she murmured to herself
"So?" said a voice next to her
"AHHH!" Mukago screamed as she got scared by the voice next to her
Ane was standing in the hallway, looking at her and eagerly waiting for some information.
"Ah… Ane. Rui told me what happened to him…" Mukago said in a soft voice
"Let me guess! He got rejected by someone?" Ane asked with a smile
"Ane! That is serious! Even if you two don't like each other…" Mukago replied
"I know. I just find it funny how he reacts to a rejection. Locks himself up in his room and doesn't come out…" said Ane
"He told me that he will come to school tomorrow…" Mukago added
"Tomorrow already? Geez, I was hoping he would stay there locked up for a few more days…" Ane replied
"Ane!" Mukago yelled in a soft annoyed tone at her, to which Ane just smirked at her
The next morning, Rui opened his door and left his room. Feeling a bit better, he walked to the kitchen, where he saw his mother and sister.
"Ah! Good morning Rui! Are you feeling better now?" the mother asked with a big smile
"Yes. Make me some breakfast." he replied as he sat down
"I'm on it!" said the mother as she went back to cooking
As he sat down, he noticed his sister was looking at him… with a smug smile. He didn't like it.
"What." he said
"Nothing…" she replied and kept smiling at him
"Grrr… Sister… let's have a chat on our way to school…" he said angrily
"Sure." she replied as she went back to eating
In the meantime, the mother finished Rui´s food. After eating, the two left the house and went to the academy. After a few minutes, Rui spoke up.
"Alright. What do you know?" he asked
"I have no idea what you're talking about…" Ane replied with a teasing smile
Thinking about it, Rui asked her again.
"Did that girl from yesterday tell you about me?" he asked again
"Hmmm… Who knows…" she replied
"ALRIGHT LISTEN UP." he said with an angry tone
Hearing that, Ane looked at him, still with her teasing smile.
"Yes. I was rejected. But that doesn't mean that I can't find a girlfriend!" he continued
"Most girls on the academy are interested in me. It was just unlucky that the one that I was interested in rejected me!" he added
"Sure…" Ane replied with a smile
"Grrr…" Rui grinded his teeth as he hated her teasing smile
Rui knew that this was bad for him. She could use the fact that he locked himself up in his room because of a rejection against him and ruin his reputation or even blackmail him.
As she was still smiling, Rui was forced to use a new technique.
"So listen here…" he said with a normal tone again, to which Ane looked at him again
"Please don't tell anyone that I locked myself up in my room because I got rejected." he said without looking at her
Hearing that, Ane raised an eyebrow.
"Damn… He asked me not to tell anyone and even said please… He is pretty desperate…" she thought to herself
"Alright… I won't tell anyone." she replied
"Good." said Rui

"BUT I WILL STILL MAKE FUN OUT OF YOU!" she said with a teasing smile again
"Ugh…" murmured Rui as he heard that
"How was your weekend? Oh, wait! You spent it in your room!"
"Ugh…" he replied
"So, how would you handle a rejection? Oh, wait!"
"Ugh…" he replied
"So, what did you say about being able to get any girl to fall for you? Hahaha!" Ane laughed
Rui was annoyed by this, but he knew that this was the price he had to pay for her to keep her mouth shut.
"Well, everybody wants something which they can't get. In your case, it's a girlfriend. Do you know what it is my case, hmm?" she asked with a teasing smile again
"No idea. Boobs?" he said with a serious expression, which left Ane speechless
