Rui VS Romance – Chapter 3
As the two arrived at the academy, Rui became the center of attention again. Girls were talking to him from all sides.
"Rui! How are you doing!"
"I heard you were sick, are you better now?"
"I hope you have a nice day, Rui!"
Hearing that, Ane left his side and went to her class, leaving him behind. Looking around himself, Rui looked at the faces of all the girls that were talking to him. All of them were smiling and fighting for his attention. He noticed that he didn't know any of them. Most of them didn't even introduced themselves to him and those few that did, he already forgot their names.
Taking a deep breath, Rui spoke up.
"Girls… Thank you for your kinds words… But I need to go now… Please, don't follow me." he said and went to his class
On his way, almost every girl tried to start a conversation with him or tried to get close to him.
"This must be a curse… All the girls here are interested in me… except the one that I'm interested in…" he thought to himself as he got to his class
Getting to his class, Rui sat down at his desk. People all around him were chatting with each other. Rui wasn't very talkative, so he hardly ever chatted with anyone. Looking around, he noticed someone watching him.
"Hey… Isn't that…?" he thought to himself
As he made eye contact with the person, she immediately looked away, blushing a bit.
Annoyed, Rui got up and walked over to her desk.
"Hello." he said with a plain tone
"AH! H-H-H-Hello… Rui!" Mukago replied
Blushing and playing with her short hair, Mukago panicked a little. This was the first time ever Rui came up to her and started a chat, so she was pretty nervous.
"You brought me my homework yesterday…" said Rui
"Y-yes, I did!" Mukago replied
"…"
"…"
"…"
After a few seconds of silence, Mukago spoke up.
"So… I hope you feel better now, Rui."
"Yes. I do." he replied
"G-good…" Mukago said with a nervous smile
"…"
"…"
"Ah… Do you need anything?" Mukago asked
"No. I just saw you staring at me, so I went over." he replied
"IGH! W-W-Well… I... I… WAS JUST…YOU KNOW…!" Mukago tried to form a sentence
As she struggled to form a sentence, Rui just stared at her with a plain expression, waiting for an answer. After not getting one, he spoke up.
"Honestly, I don't mind if you stare at me. At least you don't bother or annoy me like some other girls here." he said
Hearing that, Mukago calmed down a little. After another few seconds of silence, she took a deep breath and spoke up.
"R-Rui! Can I ask you something?" she said with a serious face
"What is it?" Rui asked
"Do you! Do you… or would you like… to have lunch together and… chat? I would like to become friends with you… and… get to know you better…" Mukago asked
Looking at her with a plain expression, Rui responded.
"I don't care. If you would like to, then sure."
"R-really?! Thank you! Thank you!" Mukago said with a big smile as she heard his answer
Rui raised his eyebrow as he didn't understand why she was so happy.
"Come talk to me when we have lunch…" he said with a plain tone and went back to his desk, leaving a confused Mukago behind
Seeing that, Mukago smiled again.
"Rui… Sometimes you're pretty weird… but I still love you…" she murmured to herself
The day went on without any problems. Both Rui and Mukago finished their classes and went to get lunch. Rui was once again asked by a lot of girls to spent his lunch with them, but he refused. Before he entered the cafeteria, he was stopped by Mukago.
"R-Rui!"
Hearing that, he turned around and faced her.
"Oh, it's you. You wanted to eat lunch with me." he said
"Y-yes!" Mukago replied with a smile while holding her bento
"Ok, wait here. I go get something, and then I join you." he said and turned around, ready to go get his lunch
"Wait, Rui!" Mukago stopped him, to which he faced her again
"I have made… well… I have 2 bentos with me… I can give you one if you want…" Mukago said while blushing
"…" Rui didn't say anything, just stared at her with a plain expression
"…"
"…why do you have two?" he asked
"Oh, I brought one for my friend… but she told me that I should share it with you- I MEAN WITH A FRIEND! SHE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD SHARE IT WITH A FRIEND!" Mukago panicked again as she almost said too much
"Ok…" Rui replied confused
"AH… H-here!" said Mukago as she handed him the bento
"Thanks…" Rui replied as he took the bento
Looking around, Rui noticed that a few people were looking at him and Mukago. Most of them were girls, and he didn't like the faces they were giving them.
"Let's go eat outside… There are a lot of people here…" he said with a plain voice and started walking
"Ah! S-sure!" Mukago replied and followed him
Outside the academy, the two were alone, because almost everyone ate their lunch in the cafeteria. Rui saw a bench and sat down, opening his bento.
"Ah…" he said
"What is it?" Mukago asked, as she sat down next to him
"There is a lot of meat… I really like meat…" he replied
"Ah, that's good! I was told that you- I MEAN BOYS- I MEAN FRIENDS LOVE MEAT! YES, FRIENDS!" Mukago panicked again
Not paying any attention to her, Rui began eating. He really liked the meat, and enjoyed every bite. Calming down again, Mukago noticed how fast he was eating it and how he enjoyed it.
"If you want… I can also give you some of mine… I don't think I will be able to eat it all… haha…" Mukago said with a small smile
"Really? Yes, please do." Rui replied
Mukago gave him some of her meat, which he ate immediately.
"So… uhm… I would like to get to know you better… Rui…" Mukago said with a small blush
Looking at her, Rui replied.
"What do you want to know?"
"How about you tell me a bit about yourself… For example, what do you like? Or what do you do after school?" Mukago asked
"Hmmm…" Rui thought about it
"Well… I watch TV… and I sometimes browse the internet… and I play with a string…" he said with a plain expression
"String…?" Mukago asked confused
"Here, I show you." he replied
As he said that, he put his bento down and took out a string from his pocket. He wrapped it around his fingers and started playing with it.
"See? I use this string and play with it. I don't show this to many people… so you better enjoy it." he said as he continued doing all kinds of tricks with it
Mukago was watching him and was impressed by his skill. The movement of the string made it look as if it was alive or even a part of him.
"Wow! That is really awesome! I never saw anything like this!" Mukago said with a smile, which caught Rui off guard
"A-awesome? Really? Most people say that I have a weird hobby…" he replied
"No, I really mean it! Thank you for showing me!" Mukago said with a big smile
"Ehm… thanks…" he replied as he looked at his string again
After a few more seconds of him playing with the string, he spoke up.
"So, how about you? What do you do in your free time?" he asked her
Hearing that, now Mukago was caught off guard, as she wasn't expecting him to be talkative.
"Well… I don't have much free time… because I also have a part-time job…" Mukago explained
"Really? What do you do in your part-time job?" he asked and looked at her
"Oh, well… I work for a politician! He is… not always in a good mood. B-But it never gets boring with him, and I met a lot of great people there and also made a lot of friends!" she replied
"Hmmm…" Rui murmured as he thought about that
After a few seconds, he looked at her again.
"Did you also meet that guy there?" he asked
"Hm? That guy? Who do you mean?" Mukago asked confused
"The guy that you like now, remember? You told me yesterday…" he replied
Hearing that, Mukago´s face slowly became bright red.
"…"
"…"
"W…W…W…WHAT!? NONONONONONONONONONONONO! W-W-W-WHY DO YOU ASK?" Mukago panicked once again
"You said that you met a lot of great people there, so I thought that might be it…" Rui replied
"NONONO, I DIDN'T MEET HIM THERE! I… WELL…AGH…AH!" Mukago was panicking
"…"
"…"
After not getting a response from her, Rui spoke up again.
"Anyway… I hope it will work out for you two somehow…"
After he said that, he got up and was about to leave.
"Thank you for the food. It was good. If you want to eat and chat with me again, feel free to tell me."
And with those words, he turned around and walked away, leaving a blushing Mukago behind.

"Ugh! I hate this! This was so embarrassing!" she thought to herself
As she was sitting, she could hear footsteps. Looking around, she saw her friend walking towards her.
"Ah… Ane…" she said with a sad tone
Hearing that, Ane raised an eyebrow.
"I did everything you told me. I asked him if he would like to eat lunch with me and I gave him the bento, just as you told me… but still… I managed to screw it up." she explained, as she looked at the ground with a sad expression
Hearing that, Ane took a deep breath and spoke up.
"Well… looks like I need to have a little chat with him."
"NO! Don't tell him, please!" Mukago replied to her
"Don't worry… I won't tell him."
Hearing that, Mukago sighed in relief.
"You will." Ane added with a devilish smile
"Huh…?"
