Don't own twilight. This is another with no real ending, the ending it does have changed at least seven times.

Commendable

The bonfire was high, and Bella was lost in the flames. "You're burning up Bella."

When Jake squeezed her hand she turned to look at him as she slowly pulled her hand away. "I.. I'm sorry." She murmured when she saw him get that hurt look in his eyes again.

The rest of the pack and the imprints that were there turned to watch as Jake stood up and started to walk away, shudders rolling through his body. "God damn it Bella." He muttered, sounding almost defeated.

"I.. I.."

He turned and there was fire in his eyes that made her stand up and take a step backwards. His eyes narrowed. "I'm not going to hurt you Bella."

"I know."

"Then why are you always backing away from me? Why do you always act like you're afraid of me? I'm not him. I'm not-."

"I know you're not him." Bella snapped, trembling. "I'm not thinking about him, I'm not worried about him. Edward Cullen can burn in the pits of hell for all that I care about him. He brought me to the attention of Vampires and then he left me to die in the woods Jake, this isn't about him."

"Then what's it about? Because every time I try to tell you how I feel, or try to show you that I care about you, you pull away-." The trembling was getting worse.

"I CAN'T LOSE YOU JAKE! I'M SO IN LOVE WITH YOU THAT EVEN JUST THE THOUGHT OF NEVER SEEING YOU AGAIN MAKES MY HEART STOP." He was frozen, watching her, and the only sound besides her voice was the fire crackling in the background. "SAM MAY HAVE PULLED ME FROM THE WOODS, BUT YOU SAVED ME FROM THE DARKNESS THAT I'D BECOME, AND I AM SO GRATEFUL. BUT I'M SO SCARED THAT IF I GET ANY CLOSER TO YOU THAT I WILL LITERALLY DIE WHEN YOU LEAVE."

"I'M NOT GOING TO LEAVE YOU! I CAN'T LEAVE YOU!"

"OF COURSE YOU CAN. I'M BROKEN, I'M WORTHLESS, I'M NOTH-."

"Shut up Bella." There were some concerned murmurs in the background as the trembling turned to full body shudders.

"YOU ARE EVERYTHING TO ME. YOU'RE MY OWN PERSONAL SUN WITH YOUR HEAT BURNING THROUGH THE ICE THAT HAS SEEPED INTO MY PORES. YOU ARE GRAVITY, YOU ARE THE EARTH SPINNING ON ITS AXIS. I CAN BARELY BREATHE WHEN I'M AWAY FROM YOU." She heard the pack backing away as the shudders reached a precipice and teetered on the edge.

"Bella, you need to calm down."

That broke the last bit of control she had over herself, as she leapt through the air to the sounds of clothes ripping, and ran away from the bonfire. I thought I was on patrol alone tonight? A cheerful voice sang in her head.

I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just going for a run. She replied, moving swiftly through the forest.

Aah, a newbie, and another girl. Who are you? Where are you? I'll call Sam.

Bella! Jakes voice came next. Bella slow down!

I just need to think Jake. She said as she continued running, not realizing how much ground she was covering.

Shit, wait, Bella? Bella Swan? She phased?

Bella suddenly caught the whiff of something that internally made her want to gag. What is that god awful stench?

Bella, the pack is coming towards you.

She skidded to a stop as a familiar vampire stepped out of the forest. The red curly hair had been in her nightmares for months. Victoria. She released a howl as she started running towards her. Victoria started to run away, so Bella phased back instantly. "VICTORIA!" She screamed, making the vampire stop in her tracks.

"Oh, isn't this a surprise. The little bitch that got James killed is a dog now."

She knew the pack wouldn't be far behind her as she spoke. "James got himself killed. He was nothing but a cowa-."

"JAMES WAS NO COWARD! HE WAS MY MATE. YOU CAUSED HIS DEATH."

"No, the Cullen's caused his death."

"No, you did. If they hadn't been keeping you as a pet then you wouldn't have been there. But you were. James had a one-track mind once-."

"Aw Vicky, you don't have to worry. It's okay if he didn't want you anymore, you are kind of old. What was it 600 some odd years? Some men want a younger-." Victoria ran towards Bella, who shifted and ran towards her too. Whoops might have pissed her off. Knowing how Jasper and Emmett used to wrestle, Bella was using her improved eyesight to wait for an opportunity to attack as she dodged the first strike, just to claw her way up Victoria's back. She was thrown off before she could get her teeth around her neck, landing on the ground with a thud. Fuck that hurt. She growled, leaping towards Victoria again. They moved around each other until the pack started to stalk out of the trees behind Bella, causing Victoria to start backing away. Knowing back up was there, Bella shifted back again. "You're leaving so soon?"

"You caused the death of my mate, I will enjoy killing you." She replied, even as she backed away.

"They took his arms off first. Emmett and Jasper. Edward ripped off his head, before coming over and sucking his filthy venom out of my arm. I watched as they tore him to pieces and lit his corpse on fire."

"You… you…"

"He was recording it, camera set up on a tripod because he wanted the Cullens to see my death. I'm sure if you asked the Cullens you might be able to get a copy of the tape. I'm sure his screaming like a little bitch baby will be music to your ears."

Victoria leapt again, and Bella met her, shifting in midair. This time her teeth clamped around the fiery red hair, and Bella used her motion to throw her into the ground. She quickly reached down and ripped an arm off. "IF YOU KNEW HOW IT FELT TO BE WITHOUT YOUR MATE YOU WOULD UNDESRTAND."

Bella ripped the other arm off. If I were without my mate I would die, so take your excuses and shove them up your ass.

When the first leg game off, she could tell that she wouldn't survive. "THE CULLENS PAID ME TO KILL YOU. BECAUSE THEY LEFT WITH NO NOTICE, BUT HAD ALRLEADY LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THE VAMPIRES."

Before she ripped off the head, she could hear someone starting a fire, but she phased back to stare down at Victoria. "Nothing you say can be trusted. If James was truly your mate, then the pain you've felt since his demise will have been great. You should consider this a mercy killing, and not fight so fucking hard. I was hurt for a long time after they Cullens left. Could barely move, barely eat. But I still kept moving. I found my mate then. Letting yourself drown in the pain is never the solution, and killing innocent people is never right or okay."

She had venom tears running down her face. "You don't understand. James was my everything."

"I do understand Victoria. I understand the love you had, and the hurt you've experienced since his demise. I sympathize with that. But what I cannot condone are your actions. You have killed humans. You need to understand why you must die."

"I don't deserve your pity." She muttered, closing her eyes in acceptance.

"No you don't. You tried to kill me, many times. James tried to kill me. It would be easy to hate you, but I know if I lost my mate, I wouldn't be able to go on."

"Just throw me in the fire." She whispered. So I leaned down and picked the torso up with the head attached. As I walked towards it she opened her eyes to look at me. "You… you've never hated us because of what we were."

"No. None of you chose it. But the choices you did make, are unforgiveable."

"There's a vampire named Riley in Seattle. He's making newborns because we were going to bring them down here to kill you. He has a gift where he can hide his scent. Fred can turn invisible."

"Thank you. Do you have any last words?" I asked as I stood in front of the fire.

"No." I dropped her in the flames and stepped back to avoid the debris that flew up when what was left of her body landed.

I stood watching as her corpse slowly turned to ashes. "Bells? Are you okay?"

I turned to see the pack standing around, and Jake a few feet away looking at me concerned. "Yeah. It's been nearly a year." I said quietly.

"What's been nearly a year?"

"Her mate James was killed on spring break last year. She's been stuck in the excruciating pain of being without her mate for nearly a year. A vampire mating bond is much like an imprint, and she made it a year after losing him." Everybody was silent. "She wasn't a friend. James sure as hell wasn't. She didn't go about it the right way, but the fact that she didn't immediately walk into flames when she felt it happen is commendable."
