Don't own twilight. Description of domestic violence included in chapter. Jasper is my favorite Cullen. BellaXPaul Imprint

Major Whitlock

I raised a shaking hand to knock on the unfamiliar door, even as I stared at the ground. I knocked three times, before I finally heard movement. He was quiet for a minute after he opened the door. "What are you doing here?" He growled out. "We thought you'd be with the Cullens."

I cringed when I accidentally jostled my shoulder. "Do you know how to reset a dislocated arm?" I asked quietly, looking up at him, causing my hair to slide away from my face.

He inhaled sharply when our eyes met, before freezing. I felt an instant connection form, a strong connection. Like millions of cables holding us together. I closed my eyes when he ran past me and phased, leaving clothing shreds across the yard. When he released a howl, I moved inside, figuring if I was going to have to deal with the entire pack, I'd at least be comfortable. I didn't get very far before I heard voices outside. "What happened?" Sam's voice asked.

"I don't know. She showed up, asked if I knew how to reset a dislocated arm. I can smell her blood on her."

There were severe looks on the entire packs faces as they walked in, and I looked down to the floor, hiding my face behind my hair. "Bella-." Paul started, but I interrupted.

"Can someone set my shoulder first please?"

He stepped up and gently clasped my arm at the elbow. "I have no pain medication here. We can get Sue here in 10 minutes. She's the pack doctor."

"It's already swelling, and Sue will tell my dad. My dad finds out he's going to drive over to a house full of fucking leeches with a shotgun, and we all know what would happen after that." The pack was silent.

"This is going to hurt." He told me.

"I kno- unnnngh." The world went black when my arm was back in its socket.

I woke on a couch, and the pack was surrounding me, the severe expression had morphed into anger and outrage. Quil and Embry were standing by the door, trembling lightly. I didn't realize that I was wearing a large t-shirt over my panties, along with a makeshift sling until I tried to sit up. I closed my eyes and lowered my head. "Bells," Jakes voice sounded strangled, like he was the one in pain. "What happened?"

"When I woke up, he was in my room. He was acting like nothing had changed these last few months. That he hadn't left. He asked if I could forgive him-." There were several growls. "He pulled me onto his back and jumped out my window, and ran me to his house, saying my family had missed me. They were all stood in the entryway, saying how happy they were that I got back with Edward." I swallowed heavily. "That happy expression dropped really fast when I told them I wasn't back with Edward, that I could never be with Edward again. They all went to hunt to give us some privacy." I suddenly realized I was crying. I was pulled into a warm lap, arms carefully encircling my bruised waist.

"Until they were out of earshot, he was talking about how much he'd missed me." I reached up to gently touch my face, flinching when I felt how bad it hurt. "Then he turned around and slapped me." Leah, Seth and Jake moved to join Quil and Embry at the doorway. "Started yelling about how I had to forgive him. How he 'loves' me soo much. I told him I wanted to leave, but had only made it a few steps before he grabbed onto my waist. I told him to let me go, and he did, only to grab onto my arm. He yanked me back towards him, when I screamed at the pain he held his hand against my mouth, and shoved me into the wall. He… he was saying that he would show me just how much he loved me, and-" I began to hyperventilate, but felt a nose press against my hair, and my breathing calmed.

"Gods Bella."

"Alice must have had a vision, because I heard the family racing up the stairs. Everybody but Jasper pulled him off of me, even Carlisle, the doctor. Jasper was born in the civil war era, born and raised a southern gentleman. Chivalrous. He told me that no real man would ever hurt a woman, and that he was going to get me out of there. He offered to take me anywhere, he could have me on a plane in 30 minutes and whatnot."

"You came here?"

"Jas ran me to the treaty line. I walked from there."

"Bells, why didn't you come to my place? It's closer?" Jake asked.

I closed my eyes to try and stop the tears from escaping. "Same as Sue. Charlie is going to be so mad at me Jake. He raised me better than this. He's going to be so disappointed in me."

"But why here?" Paul asked.

I looked into his eyes. "Because you hate me. I don't want pity, and I don't want to be treated like a victim."

"Why would you think I hate you?"

"You're always glaring at me, and you call me le-"

"I will never call you that again!" He promised, voice vehemently sincere. His nose nuzzled into my neck. "You're so brave. I'm so proud of you."

My phone rang shrilly, and I turned towards the sound to see it in Sam's hand. "Hello?" He asked, voice firm.

"Is Bella there?" Carlisle asked.

"Now you care?" Jake snapped.

"Of course I care about her. She's like a daughter to me."

"Bull shit." It took me a moment to realize that it had been me who spoke, and that the pack was letting me have my say. "If I was like a daughter to you, then you wouldn't have left me alone with him after I said we weren't getting back together. If I was like a daughter to you, then you wouldn't have let Edward hit me. You wouldn't have gone to him first. You don't get to call me a daughter when you don't even try to offer some sort of paternal concern. What do you want?" I snapped.

"We want you to come bac-."

"Well you should shit in one hand and dream in the other and see which one fills up first. Why would I go back to your family? The only one I'd even be remotely interested in seeing or talking to again is Jasper. He's the only one who comforted me when your son beat me. Even Esme, who I thought would understand, went to Edward."

"You went to Italy to sav-."

"Edward left me to die in the forest Carlisle, after telling me that none of you wanted me. He had to have known I was chasing after him. I didn't go to Italy because I'm still in love with him. I went to Italy because while he seems to be perfectly fine to have my death be on his conscience, I won't let his be on mine."

"Carlisle Cullen, do you remember the treaty that you signed?" Sam asked, stopping us from arguing further.

"Yes, we are not to bite or feed from a human."

"If that's all you remember then you should be ashamed of yourself. If you think about it hard enough, you might remember seeing the word imprint."

"Ah, yes. Any harm brought to an imprint is to be considered an act of war. How is that releva-." He stopped suddenly.

"I see you've made the connection."

"We weren't aware."

"It's a recent development. Only occurring when Ms. Swan arrived seeking asylum. Therefore, it will be entirely up to her what happens to you and your coven now. If she'd already been an imprint, then she would have no say in the matter." Suddenly several things clicked in my head. The pull I felt towards the man whose lap I was still sat in. How being in his presence comforted me. Imprint. As I thought the word, as I accepted the word, I could feel what I'd heard described.

"Well Bella? Is my family to die for their lov-."

"Shut the fuck up." I snapped. "HOW DARE YOU SAY YOU LOVED ME?!" My voice raised in indignation. "YOU ALL LEFT ME. NO WARNING. NO GOODBYE. YOU DON'T DO THAT TO SOMEONE YOU CLAIM TO LOVE. YOU ABANDONED ME AFTER MAKING ME CARE ABOUT YOU! I WANT ALL OF YOU TO LEAVE FORKS, AND TO NEVER COME BACK! WITH THE EXCEPTION OF JASPER."

"Jasper?" Carlisle asked after a moment of stunned silence.

"Yes. Jasper. At my fucking birthday party that Alice forced me to have, do you know what I saw when I got that paper cut? I saw six pairs of Golden eyes turn pitch black. His were not one of them, not until your son threw me into a pile of breakable shit, cutting me worse. Then his eyes only changed because I'm sure the bloodlust he was getting off of you sorry sons of bitches was staggering. He's the only one who showed that he cared about me as a friend. He brought me home after you let your son abuse me. I want all of you to leave, but I want him to know that I would be okay if he visited or called. I want NO other contact from any member of your family. Starting now."

I could hear his mouth open and close a few times, before someone else grabbed the phone. "Bella? Are you okay there? Did you get your shoulder taken care of?"

"Yes, thank you for helping me Jasper."

"Ma'am, that's what I do. It may have been a long time ago, but my momma raised me to never ignore a damsel in distress."

"You'll make sure they do as I asked? I don't want there to be a war."

"Yes ma'am. I'll call in Peter and Charlotte if I need to."

"Peter and Charlotte?" I asked, curious about the new names.

"Peter was basically my second in command when I was changed for war in the south. Charlotte is his mate. He found her and got out, and then came back for my sorry ass. They would also never allow what happened here to happen again."

"Maybe I could meet them if they come to visit. I bring some of my friends if you bring yours, because I'm sure they would be concerned about me meeting three vampires by myself."

"I'd say consider it a date," Paul let out a growl behind me, causing Jasper to chuckle. "But I doubt your mate would be too happy about that."

"No I wouldn't," he snapped.

"Well, before I end the call and knock some sense into this family, I have a warning for your mate Bella."

"It's not mate Jas." I told him, and I felt the man behind me flinch. "It's so much more than that. The tribal legends call it an imprint. When a spirit warrior finds their soulmate. It's almost indescribable, the feeling. He's the one holding me to earth, not gravity. He's the world spinning on its axis, the center of my universe… he's my forever Jas."

I didn't need to see Pauls face to know there was a goofy grin on it. "Be that as it may Bella, despite the fact that I'm sure Charlie will give him the protective father speech when you tell him, there are things that will mean more coming from someone who can actually hurt him."

I raised an eyebrow, even though he couldn't see it. "Okay?"

"Young man, what's your name?" Jasper asked through the phone causing me to chuckle.

"Paul."

"Well Paul, listen here. These ass holes may be idiots when it comes to Bella, but I'm not. She's as close to a sister as I've ever had. If you hurt her, I will end you. Got it?"

I rolled my eyes, cringing slightly when it hurt. I turned to Paul, to see how he was taking it, to find him staring at me. "If I ever hurt her Jasper, I'll let you. Though I should warn you, the way my pack is, you'd have to wait in line."

"Just your luck that I have nothing but time on my hands. It's okay if they rough you up first, because there wont be anything left of you after I've had my turn."

"Okay, enough threatening Jas. Thank you again, for everything."

"I wish I could have done more darlin'. I wish I could have stopped it."

"I'd say me too, but if things hadn't have gone the way they did I don't know if this would have happened." I paused, hesitating. "Jas, can you go somewhere private?"

"Sure. Give me a minute and I'll call you from my phone." The call ended, and I looked at the faces around me, worried.

"It's… it's nothing personal. I just.." I started, but then my phone rang again. "Hello?"

"What do you need Belly bear?"

I chuckled, before remembering why I wanted privacy on his end. "Jas, I know the pack will protect me. They got rid of Laurent when he came to kill me. But… I don't want to have to worry about Edward coming back." Pauls arms wrapped tighter around my waist as he pulled me back into his chest.

"I'm not trying to be mean when I say I need you to tell me what you want."

"Jas… the things he said to me… the things he said he'd do to me… I can't live in that constant fear. What if he waits until Paul and I are married, or have kids? I can't have the threat of him coming to steal me away hanging over my head. I… I guess I'm asking you to kill him."

There was silence over the line, before Jasper asked if he could speak to Sam. I didn't hear Jaspers side since it wasn't on speakerphone, and just Sam's side was getting confusing. Sam eventually nodded his head to Jared, who left quickly out the door. I don't know when I started crying, but I'd turned in Paul's arms and was sobbing into his chest. He just ran a comforting hand up her back and buried his face in her hair.

I heard Jared come back in, and there was some fidgeting from the others, before I was hit with a wave of calm. Gasping, I turned around to see Jasper standing in the doorway. "Jas?"

He walked over and knelt down in front of me, wiping the tears from my eyes, still projecting calm. "Bella. What did he say to you?"

"Jas? How are you here?"

"Bella, tell me what that son of a bitch said to you."

I gasped, and I was hit with a wave of honesty. "Truth serum Jas?" I groaned, but he just made it stronger. "He said that if I escaped his clutches he'd find me and make me watch as he killed Charlie, then Renee. He said he was-." I turned and looked at Brady and Collin, before looking at Sam. "The youngest need to leave for this."

Paul pulled me tighter against his chest as Sam turned to the twins. "Brady, Collin. Go to my place and phase out. I'll let you know the necessary information when I get back."

When Sam gestured me to continue I pointed to my ears, and he nodded. I took a hesitant breath and turned back to Jasper. "He said after he'd killed my parents he was going to drain me while he.. forced himself on me… until I died."

I felt a wave of unbridled fury as he stood up, before he stopped projecting. "Bella. You will never have to worry about him coming after you. I'll call you when I've taken care of him."

"You won't get hurt will you?"

He gave me a sharks grin, and if I didn't know him, I'd have been terrified. "There's a reason vampires fear the name Major Whitlock darlin'. There's a reason even the Volturi are nervous about me. I've cared about very little in my life, and my sister is not someone you fucking mess with without repurcussions."

"Thank you Jas."

His amber eyes suddenly turned to look at Paul. "I meant what I said on the phone Lahote. If you hurt her, I'll kill you." When he looked back to me he was smiling again. "I'll give you the all clear when it's safe to go back home."

"Did Alice tell you all about Victoria?"

He nodded. "After I take care of Edward, I'll call in some friends. You stay here, I can tell that the pack is protective of you."

I smiled at him, before looking down as my smile morphed into a frown. "Because I'm an imprint." I whispered so quietly I didn't expect anybody to hear me. But suddenly an icy finger was lifting my chin and I was looking Jasper in the face again.

"Isabella Marie Swan. What did I say to you when we were in Phoenix?"

I felt a blush fill my cheeks, and knew if he had heard, the wolves had to. "That I was worth it."

"And what did I say when I brought you to the treaty line?"

I wanted to look down at the ground again, but he was holding my chin in place. "That it wasn't my fault."

"Bells. You've never seen yourself clearly. Despite Edward being a fucking idjit, you moving here caused waves. You enchanted a coven of vampires, and you're my sister now. You are an amazing person. You come face to face with supernatural beings that should scare the shit out of you, and you fucking accept us. You treat us like people, instead of monsters. You are the strongest, bravest, stupidest mortal I've ever met."

"Stupidest? Do you not remember Lauren Mallory?"

He chuckled. "You have a point. Or Mike Newton."

I shuddered as Jacob muttered, "the marshmallow."

"Thank you Jas. You will always be my favorite vampire. You were the first person to ever make me feel like I was worth it."

He pressed a kiss to my forehead before he stood up and started walking towards the door. "I'm going to go kick some ass, call ya soon sis."

Jared left with him.
