Title: The Thought of Losing You
Episode: 1x15 'Scorched Earth'
OA didn't want Maggie out of his sight for the next foreseeable future, because what had transpired over the past ten minutes absolutely terrified him. When the bomb detonated in the Brentham Club, he had known Maggie was trying to take it somewhere safe, and in that moment, he thought he lost her.
OA had never ran as fast as he did right then, calling his partner's name, and ignoring his boss' voice over the earpiece. Only after his eyes landed on Maggie, and she began to move, he let out the breath he'd been holding. He rushed to her side, and after she reassured him she was okay, he helped her up, and while ripping out their earpieces, they made their way out of the building.
They reached the parking lot, and OA abruptly stopped. The thought of how close Maggie came to not making it out, momentarily paralyzed him.
"You okay?" Maggie placed her hand on his arm, and held a worried look in her chocolate eyes.
"Mags, I…" He trailed off, not sure how to express the overwhelming emotions he was currently feeling.
She must've understood whatever expression was on his face, because without saying a word, she grabbed him by the hand and led him over to the side of the building, where none of the patrons or emergency workers were standing. Once they were out of view, Maggie stood on her toes and placed a soft kiss on OA's lips.
It took him by surprise, but he quickly wrapped his arms around her waist, and returned the gesture. He savored the feeling of her against him, something he had come to rely on as of recently, and allowed himself to relax for a moment.
When they broke apart, Maggie gave him a soft smile. 'I'm okay, I just wanted to reassure you of that."
OA nodded. Some of his fear was subsiding due to her close proximity. "That scared the hell out of me, Maggie. I really thought I lost you."
"I know, and I'm sorry. I just knew that we were cutting it close with the evacuation, so I acted on instinct."
OA tightened his hold on her. "Well, you were right. Not everyone was out of the building, so you saved lives by doing what you did."
The brunette looked away for a minute. "After it happened, when I heard you calling my name… all I could think was that I was so relieved you weren't anywhere near the blast."
When she finally looked at him again, the love in her eyes warmed OA's heart. He couldn't help but pull her into a hug. "I know you can't make any promises, but at least try not to scare me like that again."
She squeezed him back tightly. "I'll do my best."
"Good, because I can't lose my partner."
"I'm not going anywhere, Omar."
