Title: A Whole New Light
Episode: 2x03 'American Idol'
Making their way to the elevator, Maggie was still laughing at the story OA had just told. Looking over at her, OA smiled, and was struck with the realization of how much he truly loved her laugh.
OA knew Maggie had a rough day, so seeing her carefree right now was the best thing in the world… plus, her laugh always seemed to brighten his day. That was one of the reasons he was always trying to joke with her… well, that and to see her beautiful smile. The smile that was purely addictive.
OA must've been staring at her because Maggie suddenly looked concerned. "You okay, OA?"
"Yeah. I just… I love hearing you laugh."
Maggie blushed, and focused her gaze on the closing elevator doors. A soft smile was gracing her features, and OA couldn't help his next comment.
"You're really beautiful, Maggie."
She looked surprised, her blush deepening, but she was still smiling. "Thank you, Omar."
At this point, they were stepping out into the parking garage, and suddenly, OA wasn't ready to part ways. "Do you want to grab a bite to eat?"
She agreed to it, so he motioned towards his truck. He drove them to Maggie's favorite Mexican restaurant, and was once again rewarded with a smile when he pulled in front of the place.
The pair sat at their usual table, and ordered their usual dishes. Their actions weren't out of the ordinary in any way, but OA could feel the atmosphere changing between them. He couldn't describe it, but when he looked across the table, and Maggie met his gaze with intense eyes, OA knew she felt it too.
They talked about random things, most of their topics pretty light, but it was like they couldn't keep their eyes off of each other. OA couldn't help but admire his partner's beauty. Since leaving work, she had taken her hair out of its customary ponytail, so it was now framing her face in dark waves that OA would give anything to run his fingers though. Her eyes were as dark as her hair, and OA could've sworn he saw a look of hunger as she focused on him… but her lips caught his attention the most. They were upturned in a barely there smirk, and he was desperate to lean over and kiss them. Despite always noticing her beauty, tonight it was like he was seeing Maggie in a whole new light.
OA continued to hold eye contact with her, and it seemed as if they were studying each other, waiting to see who would make the first move. He was getting ready to suggest they get out of there, but was quickly interrupted by the chirping of his and Maggie's phones. It was a text from the JOC, and they were needed back there.
Within a few minutes, OA had paid for the meal, and they were in his truck headed back to work. Not much was said between them, but when Maggie reached over and interlocked her hand with his, OA was sure she was seeing him differently too.
