Olivia walked along side John. Elliot was off somewhere with his kids finally, and Fin was home sick with the flu.
Lucky Olivia to be stuck with John.
"Can you believe what they've done?! Created and or faked the creation of a nuclear bomb?! I mean, if they don't become our allies, the next world war is bound to be-" John hadn't been looking where he was going, he ran straight into a woman.
All the papers in her hands went flying around them. Olivia and John helped her pick up the scattered papers. It wasn't until John and Olivia stopped and looked at the woman, when they realized who it was.
Everyone was speechless; frozen.
"Monique… Long time!" Olivia smiled giving her a large hug.
Monique smiled, "how have you been Olivia?'
"Ok. How you doing?" Olivia asked curiously.
"Good."
The atmosphere became awkward. John was still speechless.
"Well, I'll meet you at the car. Nice seeing you Monique!" Olivia hurried off. She walked the few feet, climbed into the passenger seat and watched the two inconspicuously.
"I don't know what to say…" John smiled looking at his feet.
"You? You of all people don't know what to say?" Monique smiled a little, too.
"You know, I tried calling you. You never answered," John frowned at her.
She looked away, "my psychiatrist said it'd be best to break away from all the people I knew from SVU. To get past it. But I'm doing better now."
"Well, you know, I'd love to have coffee with you sometime, catch up a little," Munch gleamed a smile.
"I'm married now, John. I think it'd be better if we just keep living our own lives. Don't want to complicate things," Monique half smiled at him.
Munch raised his head in a slow nod. Monique smiled at him once more. She reached her hand out and squeezed his hand gently, "It was nice seeing you."
Munch watched as she walked away. She was a new woman. She was married, happy it seems, or at least just occupied. Olivia watched as Munch slowly made his way back over to the car.
He sat in the driver's seat staring at the steering wheel in front of him.
Olivia wasn't sure what to do.
She took in a deep breath, "You know if it was meant to be, it would have hap-"
"No," Munch interrupted, "you were going to say if it were meant to be it would have happened. That's not true. Sometimes fate needs a little push, a jump start," he looked up from the wheel, "don't forget that."
Olivia frowned at him as he turned on the ignition and asked, "so where's Elliot?"
