Chapter 16 – Rescuing Karin

Despite herself, Tenten couldn't help but blush at hearing that. She didn't get a chance to reply though as the meal they had ordered finally arrived. She's probably guessed as much too."

Naruto frowned as he looked at the island on the map. It was small and it was obvious that they'd be detected pretty much as soon as they landed. This meant they'd have to hit hard and fast. However… "Hokage-sama, would it be possible to request the aid of B and Yugito for this mission? We need something big as a distraction so we, the members of Team Dragoon, can sneak into the hideout, neutralize whoever's left inside, and retrieve Karin. What better distraction than two raging jinchuriki tearing apart the island?"

Rose nodded in understanding. "There's a possibility that Orochimaru and/or Kabuto could be there waiting for us. More than likely, Orochimaru is expecting us to make a move to recover Karin Uzumaki. He just doesn't know when we're coming. Which means, the longer we put this off, the more paranoid he becomes. I know we want to rescue her as soon as possible, but if we delay this for a month or two more…"

Samui nodded in understanding. "He'll be so paranoid he'll be jumping at shadows. He might even make a preemptive strike against us, leaving himself and our target open for us. Cool."

Tsunade looked into Naruto's eyes and asked, "Sweetheart, what do you want to do? I know you'd like to rescue her as soon as possible, but you have to admit, Rose has a point."

Naruto frowned as he looked over the map again. He wanted to take in everything he could before he made any kind of decision. After a time, he released a heavy sigh and shook his head. "Rose-chan's right. If we strike now, the risk of running into Orochimaru and Kabuto is far too high. Despite me being his godson, I doubt he'll take it easy on me. Chances are, he's probably pretty furious with me for taking Kin Tsuchi from him. He's rather…'protective' of his 'possessions', after all. No, we need to wait for him to make the first move. Even if that just means he sends Kabuto out to look for intel, we take that son-of-a-bitch down and then we make our move. I honestly don't give a shit if Orochimaru IS my godfather. He's an enemy, and as an enemy, he needs to be struck down before he can cause any more harm."

The Fifth Hokage nodded in understanding, but before she could say anything, she had to grab her wastebasket and vomit for a time. Groaning afterwards, she said, "I could really do without the morning sickness part of being pregnant. Who knew it could be so bad?"

Rose chuckled softly and said, "I know exactly how you feel, Tsunade. Still, the end result is more than worth it."

The busty blonde Hokage nodded in agreement. "Indeed it is." Looking at the others, she rolled up the map after a time and said, "We'll wait approximately three more months. If Orochimaru hasn't made a move by then, we'll strike regardless of the risk. For now, didn't you have something else you wanted to do, Naruto-kun?"

Naruto nodded and looked around at everyone with a serious gaze. "It's time for me to bring Kiyoko-chan out of the seal. This…will have side effects, however."

Tsunade frowned and asked seriously, "What kind of side effects are we talking about exactly?"

The spiky-haired teen scratched the back of his head and said, "Well, for one thing I won't have even an ounce of her chakra left within me. I won't be a jinchuriki in any sense of the word anymore. The second thing to note is that, during the removal process, my chakra coils are going to expand even further and my chakra levels are going to skyrocket. Naturally this means my chakra control's going to be shot to hell, but the end result should be worth it once I get myself trained up again. But…"

Everyone frowned deeply at this, not liking the sound of where this was going. "But…?" Rose pressed.

Naruto sighed and said, "My father took half of Kiyoko-chan with him into the Shinigami's stomach. Kiyoko-chan will be missing half of her power and her self until we get that other half back. I need your permission to access the Uzumaki Mask Temple and retrieve a certain mask there. I plan to use that to communicate with the Shinigami and ask for Kiyoko's other half back. The problem with this is I'll need something to give him in exchange, something he wants but has been cheated out of."

Tayuya was the one to offer up a working solution to this problem. "If Kiyoko can wait a while to get her other half back, why not just offer the Shinigami Orochimaru? He's been cheating death for years now. Wouldn't his soul be a nice little snack?"

The spiky-haired blonde grinned and hugged Tayuya tight, causing her to blush prettily. "That's genius! Thanks Tayuya-chan! That means our rescue mission has become a little something more, though. It's now a two-part mission."

Tsunade nodded. "Indeed. If that's the case, then our first and top priority should be to rescue Karin Uzumaki. Then, and only then, we'll hunt for Orochimaru if he's not at the Southern Hideout and he hasn't made some kind of move against us. What about Kabuto? Would you like to offer him up as a tasty side dish?"

Naruto chuckled a bit and thought it over for a time. "Y'know what? I might just make a deal with the Shinigami in that case. Kabuto's body and soul in exchange for my mother's. Kabuto's just as nasty a person as Orochimaru is, so I'm sure the Shinigami's eager to feast on his soul. I think it's more than a fair trade."

Tsunade raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Don't take this the wrong with, Naruto-kun, but is there any reason in particular you want to bring your mother back to life? She's been gone for 15 years, all your life. You don't really need a mother anymore."

Naruto shrugged and said, "I know, but she's an Uzumaki, and she's family. Besides that, Kiyoko didn't mean to kill her that day. If things had played out differently, Kushina would still be alive. I figure she deserves another shot and a chance at life. I may not need her as a mother, but there's nothing saying we can't be friends. We Uzumaki have to stick together, after all."

"I see. I suppose that's as good a reason as any. For now, what do you need for this ritual of yours?" Tsunade asked.

The blue-eyed teen shrugged and said, "Just some privacy. I just need to use a room at my home and make sure seals are set up to contain Kiyoko-chan's power when she's released. Because trust me when I say that when she's released, her power is going to flare up like crazy. She may be at half power, but she's still the strongest of the bijuu for a reason."

Rose frowned for a moment before realization struck her. "That room in the basement with all the seals. You're planning to use that room, aren't you?"

Naruto nodded. "Yes. It's the only place in the village that could possibly contain the kind of power I'm talking about. But I'll need someone waiting outside, because once I'm done, I'm going to be drained. I'm going to need someone to feed me some Military Rations Pills. Otherwise…"

Haku frowned deeply at him and said, "If you know you're going to be on the brink of death afterwards, why are you doing this?"

The whiskered teen sighed and shook his head. "I made a promise, Haku-chan. Besides that, she deserves her freedom. No offense to you, Tsunade-chan, but your grandfather should NEVER have done what he did and traded the bijuu as if they were pets to be given away. It's time for me to correct his mistake and free the bijuu and ensure they can NEVER be sealed again. Your grandfather may have been a good man…but he was also an asshole for doing what he did to the bijuu. I'm sorry, but it's the truth."

Tsunade sighed and closed her eyes for a time. After a few minutes, she spoke up. "I agree with you, Naruto-kun. I loved my grandparents, but my grandfather could be a real idiot sometimes. Grandma Mito on the other hand was not just beautiful, but a genius as well. I really looked up to her. I think you would have liked her, Naruto-kun."

"I'm sure." Naruto said with a smile on his face. "Anyways, if that's everything, I'm going to go and get everything prepared to unseal Kiyoko-chan. Haku-chan, can I trust you to be there to feed me the pills when I'm done?"

Naruto dispelled his Shadow Clone and went over the memories it gave him. Frowning slightly, he summoned another one and commanded it to alter a small mistake that the previous one had made. Everything had to be absolutely PERFECT for this to work.

As soon as the clone finished and Naruto was satisfied with the work, he breathed in and out deeply to try and calm his nerves. "Here goes nothing." Raising his hands up into an unusual hand seal not normally seen, he called out, "Demonic Binding Seal Release: Kai!"

As the seals spiraled around the seal on his stomach and began to do their job, Naruto grimaced and tried to hold back a scream. It hurt, just like he knew it would, but he knew it would only get worse. Still, he kept perfectly still and continued to perform the jutsu. As Kiyoko's body began to emerge, appearing a few feet from him, Naruto screamed out in sheer agony, but still kept up with the sealing technique. When it was finally over and Kiyoko stood before him, completely naked, he smiled at her and said, "Kiyoko-chan…"

Kiyoko blinked her eyes a couple of times before looking around the room she was in. Realizing she was out of the seal FINALLY, she turned to Naruto and her eyes widened. Quickly, she threw open the door and shouted, "Haku! Hurry and get in here! He needs those pills, NOW!"

At first, Haku blinked in surprise at seeing the naked woman with nine, flowing bushy fox tails and fox ears atop her head. However, when the woman's words registered in her brain, the Ice Mistress hurried past her and began feeding Naruto the pills, one at a time until some color began returning to his face.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Haku lifted Naruto into her arms and looked at Kiyoko. "I assume you're Kiyoko? The Kyuubi no Yoko?"

Haku sighed and shook her head exasperatedly before walking past the Kyuubi. "Follow me. We need to get you some clothes. Though…" Pausing, she glanced over her shoulder at Kiyoko. "What are we going to do about your tails?"

Frowning slightly, Kiyoko shrugged her shoulders and said, "Could always just get some clothes custom-made for me to accommodate 'em. 'Cause I'll tell you right now, I'm not hiding my features. I'm magnificent dammit!"

Haku giggled a bit and said, "I'm not arguing with that. You're going to scare a lot of people though."

"So? What's your point?" Kiyoko asked, sounding somewhat dumbfounded as she follow Haku through the house towards the master bedroom.

Sighing softly, Haku entered Naruto's room and laid him down on the bed. Turning to Kiyoko, she folded her arms across her chest and said, "The people are going to form mobs again to try and kill Naruto-kun for 'freeing the beast'. They'll think you're here to destroy the village and kill everyone, even if you don't do anything to anyone. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they try to get in here to burn the mansion down. Not that they haven't tried that already."

Kiyoko scowled and said, "They'd try to attack me just for being the Kyuubi no Yoko as well, no doubt. I swear, the people of this village are such bigots and assholes. I swear, if they try anything simply because Naruto-kun and I are different from them anymore, I'll start killing people. Nobody will be able to stop me either. It's time these people learned their lesson anyways."

Haku shrugged and said, "Not going to argue that point with you. I say kill them all. I hate these people. I honestly like the idea of moving to Uzushiogakure and rebuilding the village. We could make our home there rather than live here where we're hated by the people. Besides that, we'd finally be all alone with our Naruto-kun. Sexy times forever!" Unfortunately for Haku and Meru, they still had yet to have that threesome, now potential foursome that they wanted to have so badly. It was coming, but they didn't know when they'd get around to it.

True to Naruto's promise and Tenten's desires, Naruto had helped her get moved into his home. Zabuza couldn't help but make a comment about how he was constantly adding more and more girls to his harem, which earned him a solid kick to the nuts from Kurotsuchi. He quickly learned his lesson not to speak of such things again.

One thing Naruto couldn't help but notice was how, after he and Tenten had made love and he mentioned how beautiful she was and how amazing her breasts were, she started to dress a bit more provocatively. Her teammates certainly noticed, and Neji had even tried to come onto her at one point. Yeah, his attitude might have improved a bit ever since Hiashi had talked to him, but the Hyuga prodigy was still a little arrogant. Tenten had immediately shot him down, which hurt his pride. What made it worse was the fact that she told him that she'd be marrying Naruto and having his babies. Despite himself and the beating he had already suffered at Naruto's hands, Neji wanted desperately to crush that bastard for taking the one desirable woman in the whole village away.

Another thing that happened is the fact that Naruto and Ino got to talking about the seals that had been placed on her. Deciding that Ino could be trusted, he removed the seal on her tongue that prevented her from speaking about Sasuke. The first thing she said as soon as it was removed was, "Sasuke was a douchebag." Naturally, this earned chuckles from the both of them before Ino kissed her boyfriend passionately. They made love soon after that.

Naruto had also begun spending time with Yugito and B and learning more about them and their relationships with their bijuu. When he explained his goal to them about freeing the bijuu, they were hesitant at first, but they still consulted with their bijuu about it. After a time, they both explained that, once they were older and things were more peaceful, that their bijuu agreed to be freed at that point. For now, they seemed to be content as they were. The two blondes also found that there was a mutual attraction between them, but nothing had come of that yet. For the moment, they were content with just being good friends.

The final thing of note was the fact that Naruto had spent countless hours training with his Shadow Clones to improve his chakra control as much as humanly possible now that his chakra reserves had practically tripled what they were. It took quite a bit of time, but he was satisfied with his currently level of control. For now, anyways. He would continue to work on it, as well as the various elemental nature exercises, in an attempt to gain better control and learn how to wield more than just the few elements he already had under his belt. The spiky-haired 15 year-old wanted to make sure that he had all his bases covered so people like the Akatsuki and the villagers of Konohagakure could never catch him off guard or target a supposed weakness he knew nothing about.

Now, he and the other members of Team Dragoon, plus their new member, Kiyoko, were in the Hokage's office. They had been summoned a few minutes earlier, claiming that it was urgent and they were needed right away. "What's up Tsunade-chan?" Naruto asked, seeing the serious look in her eyes.

"Kabuto tried to sneak into the village this morning. Most likely to gather intel and find out what the holdup is. He's currently being interrogated by Ibiki, but he's a tough nut to crack. Regardless, Orochimaru likely knows his right-hand man has been captured and is beginning to panic. I'd say now is the time to strike. Do you still want B and Yugito to cause a distraction?"

Rose nodded instantly. "Yes. If nothing else, they can lure out most of Orochimaru's subordinates. The snake will likely be in hiding, keeping Karin close. We'll rush in, hunt him down, and slay him before he can get away. Orochimaru won't be escaping. Though…" Looking at Naruto, she frowned a moment and asked, "Do you need him alive for the trade…?"

Naruto frowned in thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. "I can just bring the mask with me. I've got that and everything else I need sealed away for safekeeping anyways. Shouldn't be a problem to trade his soul for Kiyoko-chan's other half while we're there."

"Good." Tsunade said. "Ibiki and the others will get everything we could ever need to know out of Kabuto. I'll inform B and Yugito about their roles and then all of you will set out within the hour. Good luck."

Team Dragoon nodded as one before they left to go and prepare for their new mission. It likely wouldn't be an easy one, considering they were up against Orochimaru of the Sannin this time, but if they could kill A, the Raikage of Kumogakure, then they were positive they could kill Orochimaru as well. Sadly, he was a slippery bastard, so there was always a chance he could pull a fast one on them if they weren't careful. They'd need to be extra careful to ensure that he not only couldn't get away, but to ensure they actually killed the son-of-a-bitch.

Southern Hideout

It had taken a little over a week and a half to get into position for the members of Team Dragoon. They had to circle around the island to the other side, away from the points of entry that B and Yugito would be landing on, and then sneak inwards from there towards the hideout. As soon as they landed, Naruto pressed a finger to his headset and said, "Team Dragoon in position. Waiting on your signal Y & B. Let it rock."

"Copy that Nine-o. Time to let it flow, yo!" B rapped before the Hachibi could be seen rising in the distance.

Yugito's voice could be heard sighing. "Ignoring the dolt, we'll get their attention. Get in there and do what you need to do, Naruto-kun. Good luck." she said before the Nibi could be seen striking from another part of the island.

Shaking his head and letting out an amused chuckle, Naruto turned to his team and nodded once. "It's go time. Once we're in there, we aim straight for Orochimaru first and foremost. We absolutely CANNOT let him escape. Once he's defeated, I'll summon the Shinigami and trade his soul for Kiyoko-chan's other half. I'll inform him about Kabuto as well and see if I can strike a deal with him for Kushina's body and soul. But our main objective, above all else, is to rescue Karin Uzumaki. Understood?"

Everyone nodded in understanding before they began sneaking towards the hideout's entrance. Upon reaching it, they waited a moment for Orochimaru's forces to finish piling out, obviously going to try and confront the two rampaging jinchuriki. Most likely, they'd have preferred to run away, but they were more terrified of Orochimaru than the jinchuriki, apparently, which was pretty damn foolish of them. Regardless, it left the hideout mostly undefended, allowing Team Dragoon to slip in unnoticed.

Kiyoko scowled as she signaled for everyone to stop. They were currently traversing a corridor filled with prison cells housing hundreds of prisoners. "He knows we're here. Orochimaru has Karin with him. Her chakra is fluctuating wildly and Orochimaru is practically oozing negative emotions. We need to hurry before something happens to her."

Rose and the others nodded as they sped through the hideout until they arrived in the room where Orochimaru was holding Karin captive. When they arrived, Karin had the Kusanagi blade piercing through her stomach and she was slumped over, blood dripping from her mouth to the floor below where it was slowly forming a pool that was ever increasing in size.

Seeing this, Naruto began to snarl and clenched his fists angrily. Before he could say anything though, Orochimaru looked him in the eyes with a maniacal look on his face. "You've been quite naughty, my little Naruto-kun. I had to do something. Anything to ensure you didn't take another useful pawn from me. I assume Kabuto-kun isn't coming back? Shame, he was so useful too. Do tell me, why have you turned against me? I'm your precious godfather, am I not?"

"It doesn't matter if you're my godfather or not, Orochimaru! You've done some truly terrible things. You've committed countless crimes and you're only going to commit more if we permit you to live past today. My mom may have trusted you to look after me, but you have a funny way of showing you care. And look at what you've done to Karin-chan! Who does such a horrible thing to one of their subordinates?!" Naruto exclaimed, barely holding himself back from simply charging at his godfather.

Seeing the state Karin was in, Rose narrowed her eyes, going over the possibilities in her head. Shooting a quick glance at Hinata, she nodded once at her. Afterwards, before Orochimaru could reply, she dashed forward and thrust her rapier towards Orochimaru's face, forcing him to leap backwards away from Karin's slumped over body. As he did, he ripped the Kusanagi out of her body and allowed the redhead's body to fall to the ground.

As soon as the coast was clear, Hinata hurried forward and transformed before using her magic to try and cure Karin. When nothing seemed to be working, her eyes widened in horror at the implications. Checking for a pulse, Hinata found none no matter how she searched. Even her Byakugan wasn't showing any signs of life. Tears pouring down her cheeks, she looked at her beloved to see him shaking his head, refusing to believe what he was seeing. Rising to her feet, Hinata walked to her boyfriend and hugged him tight. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."

Tears streaming down his face, his body started to tremble, fury engulfing his being. Clenching his eyes shut tight, he soon pushed Hinata to arms-length and turned to his godfather. Without a word, he disappeared and then reappeared with his fist embedded in Orochimaru's face, sending him crashing into the ground, spittle flying from his mouth from the sheer force of the impact.

Unwilling to let go of his rage or give his godfather the chance to slither away like the snake he was, Naruto proceeded to unleash a power he didn't know he had until now: his mother's famous chakra chains. Pinning Orochimaru to the floor, he proceeded to beat the man within an inch of his life while his chakra was drained by the chains and absorbed into Naruto himself. As he kept the man pinned to the floor, he unsealed the Shinigami's mask and placed it onto his face. "You're going to die, Orochimaru. You and your little butt buddy, Kabuto Yakushi."

When the Shinigami appeared and glared down at them, Naruto interrupted the god before it could so much as speak a word. "Shinigami-sama, I'm not going to beat around the bush. I'm offering you two trades. First, I'm giving you Orochimaru's soul and body in exchange for Kiyoko-chan's, the Kyuubi no Yoko's, other half that Minato Namikaze took with him to the grave. The second trade I am offering you is Kabuto Yakushi's soul and body in exchange for Karin Uzumaki's soul. She deserves to live and Kabuto deserves to rot inside your belly. And I don't care if you are the God of Death and whatever else you govern, I refuse to take no for an answer. You can either accept this deal, or I can kick your goddamn ass and force you to do as I say. Do you understand me?"

The mighty god raised an eyebrow as he looked down upon the boy that had dared to challenge him in such a way. For a while, they simply stared into one another's eyes, having a silent contest of wills between the two of them. All was silent in the room and throughout the hideout itself. Not even the prisoners were making a peep.

After a while of this, the Shinigami chuckled deeply before saying, "Very few have the balls to threaten me, boy. Even fewer are those who can get away with such a thing. Very well, I'll accept your trades. First, I will take Orochimaru's soul and give Kiyoko her other half, as you requested. When you return to Konohagakure, summon me again for Kabuto's soul and Karin Uzumaki shall be revived. I would hurry though, if I were you. I am not going to be patient with you forever. Though, because I like you, boy, I think I'll grant you a boon. I'll need time to think on it, however. I'll contact you later when I've determined what to give you."

Naruto bowed to the Shinigami and watched as he extracted Orochimaru's soul and devoured it, leaving his carcass there to rot. Afterwards, he pulled out Kiyoko's other half and thrust it into the Kyuubi's body, listening as she screamed out in pain from the process. When it was all over and she laid curled up on the ground, whimpering in pain, the Shinigami looked deep into the Uzumaki's eyes and said, "Farewell for the time being, Naruto Uzumaki. I look forward to devouring that little snake's soul." And with that, he disappeared, returning from whence he came.

The whiskered teen looked at Hinata and motioned towards Kiyoko. After she hurried over to the Kyuubi to tend to her, he walked over to Karin and gently brushed her hair out of her face. "I'm so sorry I didn't get here in time. If I had just been faster. You'll be back soon, though. Everything will be okay. Damn that man."

Rose walked up to him and placed a firm hand on his shoulder. "Seal her body in a scroll. We'll take her with us back to Konoha and do what needs to be done. I'm sorry we weren't quick enough."

Naruto nodded and did as instructed. Afterwards, he stood up and walked over to the others, getting a good look at Kiyoko. She was slightly taller now and her beautiful crimson hair had grown slightly darker. Her eyes shone brighter and, if he wasn't mistaken, her breasts had grown a few cup sizes, causing him to blush just a bit. All-in-all, he had to admit that the changes were good for her.

Meru looked into his eyes at this point for a time before turning to look at Rose. "What do you guys want to do about the prisoners? I get the feeling that a lot of them are prooobably better being left to rot in their cells."

Rose frowned in thought for a time before she nodded in agreement. "We leave them. No point in letting them loose, only to hear about their crimes later. If they die here, then they die."

Kurotsuchi shrugged and said, "That's cold, but I agree. I don't want to run the risk of people dying or women being raped or something because we let a bunch of psychos run free."

Samui walked up to Naruto and placed a gentle hand upon his shoulder. "Are you going to be okay, Naruto? I know you wanted to bring your mother back…"

Naruto shook his head and said, "It's…fine. I'm sure she would have understood. For now, we should probably just get a move on. I'd like to get back to Konoha before Kabuto somehow escapes confinement. I wouldn't put it past that bastard to somehow escape."

Everyone nodded in agreement before they set out, leaving the hideout and making their way to rendezvous with B and Yugito. Just wait Karin, we'll have you back in no time. I'm so sorry we failed you in the first place though. Naruto thought to himself as they hurried to make their way onto a boat and back towards the mainland. Time was of the essence, after all.

A/N - And that's the chapter! I know, not a nice way to end the chapter, buuut it fit. *shrugs*

Anywho, I have a MASSIVE headache right now, so I'm not going to say much. I'd like to think the chapter turned out well, but hell if I know. lol. Like I said, some of you are probably pretty pissed at me right now. So if you are, I apologize.
