After Godora was re-oriented back up, he bowed with sentiment to his two vulpine saviors. "I am truly grateful to the two of you for saving me. But you must free the others. They need you."
Krystal replied, "We're on it, Godora. Your friends will be saved. I will never abandon those in need." She and Fox bowed respectfully to Godora and started heading back to that base from earlier.
Fox asked Krystal, "So how did you learn healing, telepathy, and all those other powers you have?"
"Well, as I said back when we were returning the second Krazoa Spirit, I gained my powers from the Krazoa Spirit that I encountered back in Cerinia's Krazoa Palace when I was a little girl. In addition to combat training, I also learned how to use my powers. Both my parents and the Krazoa Spirits taught me how to channel my Krazoa energy and use it for healing, sensing thought patterns, invisibility, cloaking my body heat, telekinesis, the list went on and on."
"You must have been a dedicated student."
"I was. Combining invisibility with cloaking my body heat may be easy peasy for me now, but during my youth, it took a lot of practice, and it seemed to exhaust me of my energy. Accomplishing one of those things by itself started off tough for me, but the more I practiced it, the more easily I was able to do it."
"Well, that is how practice works, right?"
"Yep."
Then, Fox and Krystal found themselves right in front of the base where they were at before they freed the EarthWalker and discovered that a door had been opened at the side of the base opposite the ladder. Fox said, "I guess blowing up those drones opened a secret door in the base."
"Hopefully we'll find the HighTop through there."
The vulpine duo then made their way through the newly opened door.
As soon as Fox and Krystal walked through the door, they then proceeded through the hallway and through another corridor to their right, and then they were there. They were inside the very center of the fortress, standing right in front of the captive HighTop, wearing two collars that each had two chains binding him to two of four pillars that surrounded him. He was happy to see Krystal appearing before him. He called, "Krystal! Thank the Krazoa! Did Godora send you here to save me?"
Krystal replied, "Yes, Teala. And even if otherwise, I still would have done it."
"Then free me! We must take the fight to General Scales and make him pay for what he has done."
Fox then said, "You'll be out of there in no time." He then aimed his staff at the links of one of the chains that connected to one of the four nearby pillars and shot his Fire Blast at it, breaking the chain that connected the captive HighTop to the room he was held captive in.
Krystal thought that Fox had a brilliant idea right then and there, so she aimed her staff at another one of the pillars and used her Fire Blast to destroy another one of the chains. Then Fox aimed at and then a third chain connected to a third pillar, then Krystal destroyed the last chain. With all four chains destroyed, the HighTop wrapped his neck against one of the pillars, and then the two collars around it instantly broke off.
Fox and Krystal then used their Rocket Boosts to soar their way to the balcony above them, making it easy for them to communicate with the HighTop. The HighTop then said to the vulpine duo, "Thank you so much for freeing me. I owe you my life."
Krystal bowed in reverence, saying, "I'll never turn my back on those in need."
The HighTop continued. "Now get on my back. We're crossing the plain. But when we do, General Scales's minions will be firing rockets at us from the tower in the center, and you're going to have to protect me from them." The HighTop lowered his head as he walked under the bridge, and as soon as his back was under the bridge that Fox and Krystal were standing on, they then jumped onto his back. The HighTop said, "Are you ready? Let's go!" The gate opened and the HighTop walked along across the plain as Fox and Krystal kept an eye on the tower at the center of the field, aiming their staffs at it as the High walked along the outer rim. Then, all of a sudden, a fearsome barrage of missiles were launched out of the central tower. The vulpine duo aimed their staffs at the missiles and launched powerful Fire Blasts at each of them. Many of the missiles blew up before they could even reach the HighTop due to the two foxes' accuracy and reflexes. The HighTop continued to traverse his way across the plain, but it started to feel to Fox like the HighTop was taking his sweet time, while under the threat of missiles. But he and Krystal continued to keep firing and firing at the missiles as they were being shot out of the tower.
Then, suddenly, more missiles started firing out of the tower in significantly larger clusters. Fox knew that even though his reflector and the barriers that he and Krystal could generate with their staffs could easily protect them from the missiles, he believed that the HighTop would be far more vulnerable. He panicked and started spraying his Fire Blasts everywhere and his aiming became even more sporadic than before. Krystal, on the other hand, was storing up energy for a much more strategic countermeasure. She built up her powerful Krazoa magic and a massive cyan sphere appeared around her, and when a massive barrage of missiles came close to her, Fox, and the HighTop, she unleashed her power and the cyan sphere instantly grew twenty times its own size passing right through Fox and the High Top, and sending all of the missiles back at the tower that launched them. The missiles were all sent back to the tower that launched them, crippling its attack system, making it unable to fire missiles anymore. When the missiles hit the tower, the tower was surrounded in flame and there were a few explosions, and the tower's defences were gone, and the missile firing completely ceased.
Fox and Krystal then breathed a major sigh of relief. Fox then said to Krystal, "Thanks, Krystal. If it weren't for you, all three of us would have been goners. Your powers definitely come in handy."
"You're welcome, Fox." But then Krystal started breathing heavily.
Fox was worried. "Are you tired?"
"Yeah. That bursting barrier technique I used took up a lot of energy. It shouldn't take long for me to recover, though."
Then the HighTop approached a large grey metallic wall with a bright red button on it, saying, "That's what I was looking for." He then pressed his head against the button. The button then turned green and the wall descended into the ground, revealing a new passageway. Fox and Krystal slid their way back down to the ground from his tail, and he walked off, saying to the vulpine duo, "It's up to you guys now. You'll figure it out." The HighTop walked off. Fox asked Krystal, "You think Kite might be over there?"
Krystal looked pensive, but determined. "He has to be." Fox and Krystal walked through the gate.
As soon as the Vulpine duo walked through the gate, they were walking through what appeared to be some kind of valley and then they spotted a FireCrawler. Fox and Krystal then pointed their staffs at it and started hitting it with their Ice Blasts. The beast got angry and tried to turn around to start scorching them, but was immediately frozen solid. Then Krystal struck it with her staff, shattering its body to a thousand pieces. The two foxes then continued down the valley, walking past three pillar-like buildings. But then, they heard a voice, shouting, "Help! Get me outta here!" Krystal recognized that voice in an instant.
"Kite!? Is that you!?" Krystal ran to the opening of a metallic-looking hallway at the side of the canyon. Fox then shouted, "Hey! Wait up!" and followed her.
As soon as Krystal reached the metal hallway she looked upwards and spotted a cage that dangled from the ceiling, and then she looked into that cage as Fox was catching up with her. When he finally caught up, he stopped to catch his breath, but Krystal instantly recognized the person trapped in the cage. It was her friend Kite who helped her escape from Krazoa Palace and that night and saved her life when General Scales threw her off his ship. She called his name. "Kite? Kite!"
Kite quickly looked to his left and took a glance below. He saw a vulpine woman below. He knew who it was. "Krystal? Is that you!?"
"Yes, Kite, it's me! And I have come to rescue you!"
"You're alive? I was worried that those SharpClaw ruffians did you in at Cape Claw!"
"I'm a trained warrior of the Crimson Sun. Even a thousand of those SharpClaw scum would lay slain at my feet in a matter of minutes. But I feared that I would have lost you as well. I'm glad to see that you're alright."
"Alright!? I'm locked up in this cage dangling from a large height, from a rope that could practically snap at any moment and you think I'm alright!?"
"Uh… what I meant is that you're not hurt."
"Not hurt!? My bones are aching! I'm cramped in this small cage and it's practically straining my back!"
"Well, that you're still alive, anyway. We'll rescue you. I swear it!"
"As in 'you and that new boyfriend of yours over there?'"
"Yes. But I'll introduce you to him after we rescue you. Just hang in there!" But she then suddenly had an idea in her mind. "I have an idea!" Krystal's eyes turned cyan again, and a glowing cyan force field surrounded the cage.
Kite got scared for a moment. He shouted in fear, "What are you doing!?"
"I'm using my telekinesis to keep your cage floating in the air after Fox cuts the rope!"
Fox shouted, "What!?"
"Don't worry, Fox. My telekinetic power will hold Kite's cage in the air so I could have it land safely. Now cut the rope with your Fire Blast!"
"But…"
"DO IT!"
Fox, hoping Krystal knew what she was doing, aimed his staff at the rope holding Kite's cage in the air. He shot a Fire Blast at it, cutting the rope. Krystal's telekinesis continued to suspend Kite's cage in the air, but the weight of the cage was starting to strain on her. He struggled with all her might to keep the cage in the air as she telekinetically lowered the cage to the ground at a slower, steadier pace. She felt her stamina draining from her, but her will was strong. She felt strain on herself growing as she kept lowering the cage, and feared that she would be unable to hold her grip any longer. Finally, when the cage was only a few inches from the ground, she released her telekinetic grip, causing the cage to land with a small, sudden thud, but still remain in its upright position. She breathed a sigh or relief. But then she ran to the cage and rammed the tail end of her staff into the keyhole in a lock that sealed the cage, breaking the lock into many pieces. The cage door swung open, and then Kite jumped out of the cage, and was now, finally, free as a bird. He stretched his wings but then Krystal hugged him in ecstasy before he could even react.
"Kite!" cried Krystal as she embraced her beloved Cloudrunner ally. "I missed you so much!"
"And I missed you too, Krystal. Thank you so much for rescuing me."
"I'll never abandon someone in need. Especially not an ally. I'm so happy that you're safe now."
Fox then walked up to Krystal and said, "So that's Kite."
"Yes. He was my friend ever since I first arrived on Sauria. Ever since I first met him, he was like a second brother to me. He helped me travel across Sauria, for expiration, adventures, and even helping out those in need. He even saved me that night from both General Scales and that evil phantasm in Krazoa Palace."
Kite then said, "She has been coming to my rescue plenty of times as well. If it weren't for her, I would have been lunch for a pack of ShadowHunters. And I take it you're Krystal's new friend, here?"
"Yep. I am Fox McCloud. I came here to get the SpellStones and save Sauria. That's why I'm helping Krystal."
Kite then stepped forward, saying "Then get on my back, you two! The SpellStone you seek is hidden in the great tower! I need to get you there!"
Fox felt a bit confused. He asked, "Wait! Are you sure you can carry two passengers at once!?"
"Yes I am! Now climb aboard so we could strike at the tower! But a horrid monster that General Scales created guards it!"
"We're not afraid! We won't let him stand in our way!"
Then get on!
Krystal got onto Kite's back, then Fox followed soon after. Surprisingly enough, it was possible for Kite to carry two passengers. Kite started taking off into the air. Kite then said, "Now, we can't get into the tower unless we destroy the four spires that protect it. I will fly you in close! But you gotta protect me from their fire!"
Krystal then said, "This is just like old times, isn't it, Kite."
Fox and Krystal drew their staffs and prepared to guard Kite from the spires protecting the tower. Fox said to Krystal, "Krystal, you protect Kite while I demolish the spires."
Krystal said, "Fine by me." After rescuing her friend, Kite, Krystal became determined to make sure he would remain safe and secure. She didn't want to lose him again. She would not allow it.
Kite flew out of the valley and past the large tower in the center. But even though they haven't even approached the first spire yet, small missiles started firing out of it towards our heroes. The two vulpines aimed their staffs at each missile and shot Fire Blasts at each one of them. The missiles then were shot out of the sky before they could even approach them. But by the time they got close to the spire, the missiles stopped firing for some reason, and then both vulpines aimed their staffs at the large circular target on the spire. They almost immediately rapid-fired Fire Blasts at it and the rapid blasts overwhelmed it so much it blew up in a matter of seconds. Kite then flew towards another one of the spires. Missiles then started firing out of the spire, but then Kite swooped downward to dodge the missiles. But then the missiles changed direction to aim at Kite. Krystal activated the barrier on her staff and it drastically expanded to engulf Kite's entire body. Kite swooped up and started circling the spire at the top. Fox aimed his staff so that the barrier wouldn't between the staff and the spire. Krystal aimed her staff downward and the launched missiles and not only did the barrier keep Kite safe from the missiles, it also was moved so that it wouldn't block Fox's Fire Blasts. Fox kept rapidly firing at the large circular target on the spire. He kept firing over and over again until it finally blew up, and then the missiles stopped firing.
Kite started flying towards the third spire. Krystal poured a bit more energy into her barrier since the missiles were becoming more aggressive. The barrier got larger and wider. But Krystal was almost uncertain if Fox could get a clear shot at the spire. Then she had an idea. "Fox! Could you combine your barrier with mine?" Fox then immediately aimed his barrier at the missiles as well, and then both of their barriers combined merged into one powerful super-barrier that instantly engulfed Kite. Fox was astonished by what happened. He couldn't believe what he was seeing right before him. Krystal was surprised as well, but as far as she was concerned, this could help them. Then Krystal commanded to Kite, "All right, Kite, I need you to ram right into the circular target for that spire!"
"Are you insane!?"
"We have a barrier protecting you. You'll be fine."
Kite then took off into the air and flew right into the circular target of the third spire, smashing it, and the missiles stopped being fired out of it. Krystal shouted, "Now, there's only one more!" Missiles fired at Kite and his passengers in droves out of the fourth and final spire, but that was practically irrelevant because Fox and Krystal were still holding up their barrier. Kite rammed right into the fourth spire, the spire collapsed, and the missile firing ceased.
With the missiles no longer being fired, Fox and Krystal deactivated their barrier. The two vulpines breathed a sigh of relief. Kite then flew to the top of the large structure in the center of the valley. Fox and Krystal then dismounted on the roof. Krystal then saw that Kite was a bit hurt in the leg. She then tried to heal him.
But Kite called, "No, Krystal! You must save your energy for fighting the horrid creature that guards the SpellStone inside!"
"What creature is it?"
"I don't know, but it is fearsome. Be on your guard, you two."
"We will." Fox and Krystal then walked to the center of the roof and then Fox activated a switch. The platform then descended, carrying them further downward.
As soon as the elevator descended to the bottom of a large, dark room, Fox and Krystal started to get nervous. Krystal asked, "Do you think that creature is down here?"
Fox replied, "It has to be."
But then they heard a low, loud, bellowing voice saying, "Well, well, well. Two lost little mice finally decided to step into my lair!"
The room all of a sudden lit up in harsh, red lighting, and then from an opening high above them, an anthropomorphic winged reptile swooped into the room. The creature had red scales, a long, dragon-like face, webbed dragon-like wings, and horned antlers on his head. He wore silver armor all over his body except for his neck, head, arms, wings, and long red tail. He also had a three-clawed arm cannon on his left arm, and he pointed it at the vulpine duo. "Normally, General Scales delivers me my meals, but another one just walked on it. I look forward to slurping your blood!"
