Yo, I'm back again for three more chapters here after finishing three more chapters for my other story.

This is the part I apologize for a late update and explain why, yadda yadda you know the drill. And long story short, reality is slowly catching up and I've got even more maturing to do. And I've been pulling a bunch of all-nighters without rest. Hell, this is chapter was an all-nighter since I wrote this on the spot.

I know some people has been saying that I should rest and all that but like... life calls and I must respond before I get fucked over. Besides, all those work has basically reprogrammed the word, 'rest' in my brain.

Anyways, short chapter let's get into it, night owl me needs sleep.

Quick warning, this chapter might seem a bit off since the texts are pretty brief, but then again, all-nighter chapter here so... eh.

"You plague ridden rat!" – Memory/Blood Echo Memory

"Away! Away!" - Yharnam

"You fiend"- Remnant

Quietus in Sleep: Crab Blossom (Ill Nature)

Location: Remnant, Vale, Peach's Office

The awakening process was quite the thing for Jaune. It was no different to all the times that he has awoken from the dream before but… for some reason, he feels more alive.

The image of Violet sleeping against the chapel flashes through his mind, bringing a smile a to his face.

"Jaune." The voice of his mother called to him. "You're awake!"

She came rushing into him and held him a tight hug.

"Mum?"

"Thank the brother gods… thank the gods." She muttered with a shaky voice. "After what happened to Peach, I thought something would've happened to you to. I thought you'll go into an infinite coma or-or even worse."

"D-did something happen?" He asked, "Is the doctor alright?"

"Oh right." She let go of him and wiped her eyes.

His mother explained how after Dr. Peach had placed him into sleep after the procedure, she activated one part of her semblance that allowed her to experience what he was experiencing. However, something happened while her semblance was active, and she went into a full-blown seizure with a massive nosebleed. After that, she was sent to the Vale Central Hospital for a check-up.

'I forgot that she could do that. No wonder she didn't show up when I was in Yharnam.' He thought.

The question, however, was what could've caused her to go into such a state? To this he asked his mother.

"As of right now, nobody knows." She sighs, shaking her head. "The receptionist lady said that she might've over sympathised with your body or something might've happened to her before the procedure, but that's all just speculations."

Jaune placed his hand over his mouth and hummed in thought. Numerous ideas flew by his head but none of them seem to put any significance into the reason for her sudden condition. The only one he could think of while her semblance was active was because she didn't have a body in Yharnam and this triggered a reaction of sorts. He will certainly put more thought into it.

"Ah, I see your son's awake, Mrs. Arc."

A woman was standing by the door, holding a tray with what seems to be a cup with some sort of hot liquid being held within.

The lady was wearing a white blouse and black tie with a simple black office skirt. She had golden eyes and black hair tied into a short ponytail with a monocle over her right eye.

"Yes. Yes, he is." His mother replied.

"If you want, I can just sign him out and you two can leave after." The lady said with a smile.

"Are you sure?" His mother asked, "Does he not need to be checked up on by a doctor or another professional to see if he's-"

"No need." The lady said, her golden eyes glowing an ethereal orange, "The damage doctor sustained did not affect your son in anyway. Don't worry, I checked."

The glowing faded away and the colour of her eyes returned to gold.

'A semblance?' Jaune thought.

"I see." His mother said, "Well if you wouldn't mind, then please. I think it would be for Jaune to rest back at home after today."

"Very well." The lady nodded, placing down the tray next to his mother.

His mother nodded back at her and the lady left the room.

She then held the cup that had small amounts of steam coming out of it.

"Who was that?" He asked her.

"That was the receptionist lady." She replied. "Here, some hot water."

Jaune reached for the cup that his mother held for him but suddenly, his arm fell next to his body.

"Jaune?"

He tries to raise his fallen arm, but it barely budged. Strange, his arm felt like it was… buzzing.

"Jaune are you okay?" His mother asks placing the cup down, a look of worry on her face.

"I-I can't move my arm…"

"What?!"

"I… I can't…"

With no control over this sudden circumstance, his body then fell to the floor, next to the couch laid on.

"Jaune!" His mother kneeled next to him and cradled his head, "Jaune talk to me! What's wrong?!"

The door bursts open and the receptionist lady with the monocle peeks through, shouting to his mother and asking her what happened.

"It's Jaune! He just suddenly collapsed for no reason!"

"B-Buz…" He muttered out.

"What? What did you say Jaune?" His mother exclaimed.

"I-I… I can't feel… anything." He stuttered. "It's like… my body i-is… buzzing."

The receptionist lady quickly slid next to him and her eyes glow orange once again.

"Mr. Arc, please repeat to me what you're feeling."

"H-he said he can't feel anything and that his body is buzzing." His mother said for him.

A few seconds passed as the receptionist lady eyed him carefully. After a few more seconds she then picked up one of his arms and asked him if he could feel anything.

"No… what did… you do?" He managed to mutter.

"A simple pinch, nothing more." She replied. "Strange, I can't find any anomalies with your body and yet you are experiencing an extreme case of numbness and paralysis."

"Paralysis? Is he going to be like this forever?" Jeanne asked with a horrid expression.

"I wouldn't know… has this happened before?" She asked his mother.

"Well, kind of. But it was never this extreme. Usually, he would be hurting, or he had aches after his… dreams. But it was never to the point of paralysis."

"So, it's temporary then." The lady said, standing from her position.

"What do we do?" His mother asked.

"Best thing we do right now? Leave him be until this… condition wears off." The lady sighs, "If it's temporary then he should be fine."

Augustus held his head in his palms. He was currently in the Vale Central hospital, sitting on one of the seats in the waiting room outside of one of the doctor's offices that had someone checking up on Peach. Right now, his head just feels heavy.

It was a simple thing. Bring his son into his old friend's office, help him and go home to see if the process had helped him in anyway. It was a simple thing. Yet it had somehow devolved into this… clusterfuck of a situation. It was supposed to be a simple thing.

Now he's sitting here worrying about one of his oldest friends and worrying about what could happen to his son right now. Damn it all. The times where she was taken out of the room and to somewhere else to be tested on didn't help with this feeling.

When the door to the office had opened, he raised his head to see if Peach had made it out, but only the doctor – a male – who checked up on her did.

"How is she?" He asked.

"She's alright for now. The scans we showed no lasting damages on her body, and she seems to be in an alright shape." He replied looking through some notes. "However, after the seizure and heavy nosebleed, her blood levels have been quite low, so we're giving her a small transfusion."

The doctor moved out of his way to show Peach sitting on the side of a bed, hooked to an IV with a blood bag.

"The amount of blood she lost from that bleeding was not something very common nor something we've dealt with before, but like I said, there weren't any lasting damages."

"Lasting damages?" Augustus said with a hint of anger, sending the doctor a glare.

"We say that because right now, we aren't sure about her mental condition." He replied raising a hand to calm him down, "She passed the test on her mental condition, but we aren't sure if she's still alright."

Hearing this, Augustus looks back to his old friend.

Her skin was pale, but not too pale that you can see it without looking closely. Her head was hung down; her hair dishevelled and palms covering her face. All in all, she seemed miserable.

"She may have passed the test but, some of her actions indicate that there may be a hint of psychological trauma from the event." The doctor said as he looks to Peach. "I suggest you may one to talk to her, as you are her friend."

He then left Augustus to his own devices and walked towards one of the nurses in the waiting room.

Seeing that the doctor was right, he went into the office.

"How are you doing?" He asked, pulling a chair and sitting down in front of Peach.

"Right now? No idea." She gave a hollow chuckle. "Just out of it I guess."

"Yeah?"

"…Yeah…"

The two then sat in silence for a bit.

"So… do you have any idea on what could've made you like this?" August then asked.

"…Maybe." She shrugged.

"That's a fairly cryptic answer."

"Yeah well, it's kinda hard to tell the difference between reality and dream when you're forcefully pulled out of the mind of your friend's son and went into what apparently was a seizure so… 'maybe' being an answer should've been something you could've expected, hmm?" She said with a raised brow.

"Sorry about that." Augustus sighs.

Peach then sent him a light punch on the shoulder and smiled.

"Relax. It's… not as bad as you'd think it be." She waved. "And plus, I'm sure it might've been something on my part that made me like this."

"Care to elaborate?" Augustus asked.

"Well, there was something peculiar that I saw in your son's dream." She began. "My memories are a little hazy, but something made me panic, which might've messed up the process. It felt like I was drowning in an endless sea."

She held onto the shoulder of the arm that was hooked to her IV.

"Whatever it was… it made me feel small, insignificant, like an ant to a human foot." She said with a shaky voice. "I don't know if your son experiences that even though what he told me was of a fictional world in his mind but… if he does. Just how strong is he to not fear it?"

He could only stare at her in shock.

This was not something he was expecting, heck he doubts that anyone would've expected something like this to come from anyone at all.

He then noticed that Peach was breathing a bit unevenly with how raggedly it sounded, and that her palms were sweating a bit. He reached over and tapped her shoulder lightly.

"Peach?" He called.

She turned her pink-coloured eyes to him and soon her breathing calmed.

"I'm… I should fine." She said. "If you don't mind, I would like some time alone."

At this Augustus nodded in solemn understanding. He stood up, placed the chair back to where it was originally at before bidding his old friend and wishing well.

She only smiled back as he left.

Once he had left however, her face turned hollow, and she gazes at the office wall in front of her. An image quickly flashes through her vision.

'Another one… another one of those symbols.' She thought.

She looks to the floor, but it didn't help as another symbol flashes by.

'…Damn it…'

She didn't want to see them. They brought back the feelings that she felt when she sympathised with the young Arc. So, she did the only thing she could think of and covered her eyes. Though, that didn't stop the symbols from appearing.

~~AMONGST US~~

Location: Remnant, Vale, Forest Path

By the time that Jaune was able to walk again, it was already dusk.

They were going to return to Dom the moment he was able to walk without too much issue but decided to wait for his father to meet them before they do so. On the way back to their frontier village, his mother and father talked about what had happened between the two. Jaune's sudden paralysis and Dr. Peach's condition.

"Jaune." Augustus called.

Jaune looked back to his father, prompting him to say whatever he needed to say.

"Are you sure you can walk right now? Do you need some help?"

"I'm good dad. A little stumble here and there but I'm fine." He answered.

As he said, he was fine. He usually slow down or stumble a bit during the walk, but it was a lot better than when he tried to walk while his body was still recovering. There is still a bit of numbness around his arms but at least he could feel something unlike before.

"Are you sure?" His father asked, however.

"Yes, I'm sure." Jaune nodded.

Augustus gave him one more look before nodding.

From then on, the conversation turned to what Jaune saw in his dreams. To which, he retold the story of what happened with dying only once, the feeling of going back, the fight with Dark Beast Henryk, finding out that Violet was alive and meeting the two hunters of hunters. But he also told them the relieve that he is feeling even after those events have occurred.

Of course, he left out the part about the truth behind why he dreams and also the secrets that Doll revealed to him.

His parents were obviously still uneased about the way he so casually talks about dying and how he had to power through borderline electrical torture. However, their looks said that they were glad that he was not as conflicted as he was before and gave him a smile.

"Alright then. I guess this calls for a small celebration!" His mother quickly exclaimed.

"A celebration, Jeanne?" His father chuckled.

"Of course! Our son has finally recovered, so why wouldn't we celebrate?" She responded back. "Isn't that right Jaune?"

Jaune himself could only chuckle like his father. Although, he was more than welcome for a change in the atmosphere.

"Sure, mum." He replied, looking back at her.

"See? Even our son agrees!" She smiled brightly.

"Alright, alright. You two win then." Augustus said, giving her a smile.

"When we get back, I'm going to make you two and the girls the biggest meal ever!" She shouted, "And then we'll-"

She suddenly stopped talking and stared in front of her, with what appears to be shocked.

"Mum?" Jaune asked.

"Jeanne?"

His mother didn't respond, and soon her shock turned to horror.

Both the male Arcs noticed this and looked towards the way she gazed at – the direction towards their village – and saw large clouds of smoke bellowing into the sky.

And among the smoke, the faint scent of ash and fire reached the young Arc's nose.

Read the reviews again since I remember jack shit. But I gotta say... hm, too bad.

Got some nice feedback, especially from Axxcel (hopefully I spelled it right since I'm going to bed after this), about their confusion on the italics and stuff so that prompted me to at least add a legend for what the style of text indicates so you know cool stuff. Ah! And the interludes, I know what you mean, Chad even said so after he looked through some of the reviews here.

Only thing that sucks is that some of you saw that I ruined the story and to that I could only say, damn too bad for you.

I get that people don't like it when there are more characters are introduced and can do the same stuff as the MC but like I said, this story was inspired by two other stories - with great ideas I tell you - and you know...eh. Besides, just think of the potential that comes with this. Of course, our MC is still Jaune, but it's just that you know... a little bit of... ideas in there and booyah! Potential.

Besides I have big plans, half of it is from Chad, but still! Big plans.

Also, what do yall think about the story cover? Made it myself. Yep that's right, an amateur with no skill at all made it HAH! What a joke! Me I mean!

Anyways, look forward to seeing yall next time.
