The Armoured Wizard
"Did you also have a dragon as a parent?" Lucy had to ask for her curiosity got the better of her. 'I mean Natsu claims his father is a dragon.'
"Yeah, I did. The dragon who raised me called himself Jormugandr. But I'll tell you about him some other time." Naruto showed some discomfort in his eyes for a brief second until he returned to his usual self. "Let's head back to the guild now, I'm hungry."
(Fairy Tail Guild)
"That Naruto, he actually managed to beat someone with minimal property damage." A short old man spoke with a bald had except for the hair from his sides and a mustache on his face. He wore a jester's outfit and drank a mug filled with ale. This is Master Makarov, the Third Guild Master of Fairy Tail and currently also a member of the Ten Wizard Saints.
"Well Naruto is more known for his pranks and he only causes damage when he goes all out. Though, it's debatable since he did destroy most of the Love and Lucky guild." A beautiful white-haired woman with a small ponytail above her forehead, wearing a red dress spoke. This was Mirajane Strauss, a barmaid of Fairy Tail and well known model for Sorcerer's Magazine, especially for their swimsuit edition. She was also referred to most as Mira for short.
"True, but unlike a lot of people, they won't complain about it since Naruto saved them without destroying the town. If only the others didn't get too carried away." Makarov saw a large man put two smaller members in a headlock with each arm, with Makarov sighing and his left arm stretched, with his hand enlarging, flicking the brawlers away from himself and Mira. "Don't even think about fighting near me, I don't want to get hit by anything from your stupid brawl."
"That was a bit harsh Master. I know our guild can get carried away, but Elfman didn't deserve that." Mira was worried about the large man, whom was actually her little brother, Elfman Strauss. The other two were Jet and Droy, member of one of the more well-known teams of Fairy Tail, Team Shadow Gear, with their third member, Levy McGarden just sighing at her Guild Master flick her teammates with ease.
"BOOM BABY!" Naruto suddenly kicked down the doors of the guild hall and yelled in jubilation with his arms stretched out. "Naruto Uzumaki has arrived!" Naruto was happily greeted by cheers and then jumped towards two older gentlemen. "Yo! Macao, Wakaba! What's shaking?"
"Naruto you cheeky brat! Where have you been?" Macao and Wakaba just placed their arms over the blonde, with Macao ruffling his hair a little. They were both much older than the blonde, being in their thirties.
"Let's just say challenging Cana to a drinking game was a mistake." They all laughed at this as the others arrived too, with the two older men greeting them afterwards. Naruto then made his way to Makarov and greeted him in his usual carefree way. "Hey Gramps, good to see you again! You too Mira!"
"Good to see you again brat." Makarov said lazily and drank some more ale.
"Welcome back Naruto. I was worried that something happened to you until I realised it's you. What happened this time?" Mira gave a little smirk and wink.
"I challenged Cana to a drinking contest and somehow ended up in Acalypha Town where I fought this tiger-guy." Naruto then looked at Makarov a little nervously. "I tried my best, I still caused a lot of damage, so please don't punish me Gramps!"
"I already got a call about your recent skirmish. You did a decent job, in fact, I was told that the Love and Lucky guild wanted to thank you for what you did. Good job brat." Makarov's words made Naruto sigh in relief. "But I want you to remember this, Naruto, if the situation is too dangerous, don't hold back." Makarov would prefer the destruction to be minimal but knew that defending themselves and innocents takes priority, so sometimes it cannot be helped.
"That reminds me, is the she-devil here?" Naruto nervously asked with Mira just giggling.
"Oh Naruto, I'm the she-devil, not Erza and no, she went on a long job." Mira just laughed at Naruto sighing in relief, with Makarov sighing at his attitude.
'I just hope Erza didn't destroy anything this time.' Makarov chugged another mug of ale. 'I have a meeting with the Guild Masters in a few days, I hope these brats won't burn down the guild while I'm away.' Makarov noticed Naruto gone and a brawl already started amongst them. 'I hope.' After this, Makarov stopped the brawl and told everyone that he would be out of town for a while for the Guild Master's meeting.
(Few hours later, with Naruto and Kurama)
"Come on buddy, let's get you to bed." Naruto was carrying Kurama on his shoulder, the fox was sleeping and snuggling into Naruto's shoulder. "You know you're actually cute when you sleep. Too bad you're a little monster." Naruto made his way to their home as it was already night. "Home sweet home." Naruto lived in the forest with Kurama, with their hut located behind a waterfall.
Naruto entered the hut and placed Kurama in his miniature bed. Naruto lied down on his own bed and placed his hands behind his head. Naruto began to wonder what tomorrow would bring him, though he knew that ever since he joined Fairy Tail, everyday would be interesting.
(Unknown Location)
'An inn!? Finally, all that travelling was killing me.' A man wearing a white suit and his black hair tied to a pineapple styled ponytail thought to himself. "Hey, lady. Let's rest up for tonight before we head to Oshibana Town and meet the others." This is Kageyama, a member of Eisenwald. He then began shivering as the air around him went cold with some fog surrounding him.
"My name is Haku." A masked person arrived, female. She wore a white mask and wore shinobi-styled pink kimono. Her long black hair flew with the wind. "Please refer to me as such, for this is the name my master gave me." She turned around. "You may go, but I will stay outside and rest here until we are to depart where I will drop you off to the nearest rail station and then my mission will be complete." Haku's apathetic tone only made Kageyama shiver even more.
"About that, I thought you were joining us until our mission was complete?" Kageyama sounded nervous now and placed his hands on his head. 'I thought Erigor said that she would work with us until it was all over! I need to call him.' Kageyama then noticed that Haku was gone. 'How does she do that!?'
Haku was now outside, having removed her mask and showed her beautiful face and looked at the star. 'Even if they fail their mission, we will suffer no loss.'
(The next day, Magnolia Town)
'That was scary, I don't think I can ever deal with having a Celestial Spirit Wizard in the guild, though I doubt I have much time lef…..What the hell!?' Loke, a handsome man with glasses and orange hair was surprised to see Erza, thought luckily for him, she did not notice him. He ran back to the Fairy Tail guild to warn the others of their impending doom.
"Guys! This is bad! Erza is back in town!" Loke arrived moments later to the guild and his words sent almost everyone in panic. Naruto spat his drink to the person sitting in front of him, in this case it was Lucy.
"The Scarlet Demon has returned!" Naruto exclaimed as his face lost all colour and he placed his hands on his head, ignoring Lucy's yell of annoyance. "Everyone, enable defensive manoeuvres!" Everyone moved at great quickly and began to fix the guild up, then remained still, including Natsu and Gray of all people. Lucy was warned about Erza earlier and expected some form of craziness, but not to this extent.
"I have returned." Erza kicked the doors open and brought in her jewel encrusted monster horn with her. She looked around as everything seemed to be in order, though she was oblivious to the nervous stares given to her or even some members looking away.
"Welcome back Erza." Mira was the first to greet her with her usual smile, being one of the few not affected by her stern demeanour.
"It is good to see you Mira. Where can I find Master?" Erza asked about Makarov's whereabouts and was answered by Mira.
"He's at the Guild Master's meeting at the usual place and won't be back until for at least another day." Mira was honest, though Erza sighed at this.
"I see, it's a shame. I needed to discuss something with him." Erza was then asked about her jewel encrusted monster horn by a random guild member. "I defeated a monster and the locals decorated the horn for me as thanks. Is that a problem?" The member rapidly shook his head and told her no. "Speaking of which, I've been hearing a lot of things concerning you all." Erza began to chew out everyone, mentioning Macao, Cana, Nab and many others. "Where are Natsu and Gray?"
"We're here Erza. Just hanging around and not fighting." Gray and Natsu were hugging and shaking hands, both having fake smiles plastered on their faces. Natsu even said 'aye', which was Happy's catchphrase.
'Why is Natsu acting like the cat!? What did she do to them?' Lucy simply felt that Erza was a little strict and did not seem like the monster everyone made her out to be. 'And she is really beautiful, especially her hair.'
"I see, I'm glad to hear that you're doing well, but it's only natural that even the best of friends to lock horns from time to time." She then turned to see Naruto, not noticing the sweat falling down the side of his face. "And I hope you've been behaving yourself." She folded her arms.
"H-Hey Big Sis!" Naruto shocked Lucy more than Natsu and Gray did because of how Naruto addressed Erza. "Me cause trouble? Come one Big Sis, what do you take me for?" Erza replied by bring him close to a hug and hitting his head into her armour. "Ouch!"
"Oh, it doesn't matter. You finally called me Big Sis like I asked you to." Erza hugged even more tightly and was unintentionally squeezing Naruto to death, though luckily for the blonde, she let go as she needed to discuss something with two specific members of Fairy Tail. "Natsu and you too Gray. I know this might be sudden, but I need your help." This confused everyone.
'Say what!?' Naruto thought to himself as Erza asking for help was unprecedented. 'What could she want help with if she's asking those two?'
"I need you two to team up with me on a special mission." Now everyone showed shock, horror and for Mirajane, just plain surprise.
"The three of them working together, this could possibly Fairy Tail's strongest team!" Mirajane commented to herself, though Lucy heard her as everyone else was whispering about this development.
'Gramps ain't gonna like this.' Naruto thought as whenever these three were together, mass destruction almost always occurred.
"Meet me by the rail station in an hour and I will discuss the details with you." 'We should have enough time, from what their members said, Eisenwald should be making their move today and are gathering their members in one place.' Erza then turned to Mira. "I need you to look after the guild whilst we're gone." Erza left, with Natsu and Gray following soon after, wondering what was going on. Happy joined them in their journey.
"Lucy, do me a favour and go with them." Mira asked Lucy with her signature smile.
"Why me?" Lucy did not see a reason why she should join them and she did not want to be part of Natsu's antics anymore since he would eventually get her into trouble.
"Because I want you to make sure they don't fight and do something stupid. Plus, with you there, I know nothing bad could happen." Lucy wanted to protest but Mira's smile was hard for her to say no to and the barmaid had just flattered her with her kind words.
"Fine. Only because you asked me to, Mira." Lucy left to join the others. Mira then sent a magic letter via carrier bird instead of a communication lacrima, which Naruto noted.
"Hey Mira, why don't you just use a communication lacrima instead of a letter?" Naruto knew that Makarov had one for emergencies.
"Natsu ending up breaking it when he accidently got thrown into his office a while back. Master's still waiting for a replacement." Mira told him as she sent the bird off.
"What idiot sent him through the wall?" Naruto immediately whistled and looked away when Mira point to him. "You know what, I think Nab's having trouble finding a job, I'll just lend him a hand."
"Really? That's the excuse you're going for?" Mira smiled in a playful way.
"Yes, that's what I'm going for." Naruto acted a little childishly, complete with a face that child would normally make when arguing with an adult and went to the quest board. "Hey, Nab, still can't find the perfect job?" Naruto asked the young man, who was known for waiting at the quest board looking for the 'perfect job' but
"No, I mean there's some good ones, but they don't seem to right for me. Though there might be a job that's right for you on here Naruto." Nab pointed to a few which Naruto had a quick read of.
"Let's see, this one seems to be interesting. It's worth 500,000 and all I have to do is find a missing person that's from Lupinus. I remember Mira mentioning this town a while back, but I can't remember why?" Naruto began to think but could not recall why and shrugged his shoulders. Naruto left the guild, heading to his home to pick up some supplies and his partner Kurama.
(With Erza's group, sometime later)
"Are we sure Natsu's going to be okay?" Lucy did not like the look on Natsu's face, mainly because he was facing her, and his motion sickness could cause him to throw up on her eventually. Lucy and the others were told by Erza that after her recent quest, she went to a bar and overheard some members of the dark guild Eisenwald about their plan to meet up at Oshibana. Usually Erza would not find this serious enough to team up with Natsu and Gray, but there were other factors.
"He'll be fine." Erza pulled Natsu closer to herself and punched his abdomen, knocking him out and scaring Lucy, with Gray also sweating at this. "But back to the original topic. Eisenwald has an ace member, Erigor, the man they dubbed called Death-God."
"I've heard about him. Back when Eisenwald was a legal guild, he only took assassination jobs hence the name. I still think referring to him as a deity is too much. But I doubt he's the only reason for you to ask for our help." Gray stared at Erza intently, with said redhead sighing.
"I knew I couldn't hide anything from you." Erza's expression turned grim. "They mentioned their comrade bringing a powerful artefact. An artefact of Zeref, known as Lullaby." The other two's face turned from curious to fearful, with Happy being only nervous, knowing only about Zeref and not Lullaby.
"What is Lullaby?" Happy asked them, with Lucy being the one to tell him the story behind Lullaby.
"Lullaby was created by the dark wizard Zeref and is flute that releases a curse that everyone around it except for the caster." Lucy saw how Happy's expression turned grim while the other two knew the significance of stopping Eisenwald now before lives were lost.
(With Erigor)
"Do not worry Kageyama, she completed the most important part of your mission. You have Lullaby now." 'These are just minor setbacks, once those flies are dead, I will gain what I rightfully deserve.' Erigor cut off the lacrima and walked out to set his plans in motion. 'Titania, you took might've learned of our plans, but even you cannot stop us.' Erigor had learned from one of his guild mates that Erza overheard their plans and defeated some of their members, with the last one being in the men's room before witnessing her beat them. He managed to escape undetected, but this forced Erigor to take more measures against Erza. 'It's troublesome, Kageyama is not much of a fighter and I was counting on her to guard him until he got here. But he should not have much trouble if he stays undetected.'
(Back with Naruto and Kurama)
"So, what's the job?" Kurama walked beside Naruto, who now held a satchel and he held out the quest flyer.
"The job's worth 500,000 jewels and all we have to do is find a missing person. First, we go to a town called Lupinus and get the details from the person who sent this flyer." Naruto tried to recall Lupinus again, but it still did not ring a bell to him.
"Does the flyer list the client's name?" Kurama questioned the blonde and was surprised by the answer.
"A guy named Hiashi Hyuuga."
(Unknown location)
"You managed to pick a quest worth 500,000 jewels? Isn't that a bit too much for someone who doesn't fight?" A stern but regal-like female voice spoke with another timid voice replying to her.
"W-Well it's a simple quest, all we need to do is find a missing person. So, I don't think there will much fighting. I hope." The other voice whispered the last part and revealed herself to be a beautiful woman with dark blue hair that was naturally let down and reached up to her waist. She had a large bust, shapely legs and had a fair complexion with beautiful hazel coloured eyes. She appeared to be the same age as Naruto and wore a strapped dress with sandals. The dress was striped yellow and blue, reaching just above her knees and she wore white armbands with feathers. She also has a blue guild mark on her right arm, shaped like a cat. The stern voice was a clothed white cat, that had wings like Happy.
"If it's too dangerous then we'll pull out. Understand Wendy?" The cat questioned the now known Wendy.
"I understand, Carla." Wendy was a little happier, having a chance to proof herself for the first time.
End. Sorry about the delay, I wanted to introduce Haku now as a female because she will be part of a later arc and to foreshadow other characters that will appear in later arcs and had to do a small change to the chapter. Right now, it is technically canon, but only slightly diverged and a separate arc. I will change a lot of canon parts with some events being the same with only slight differences and others having completely different outcomes.
Also, I plan on Naruto getting a unique ability that is basically inspired by Observation Haki from One Piece, which is basically attributed to Naruto being the Water Dragon Slayer and also a 'child of the sea' so to speak.
