The Two Maidens

"Whoa. What happened here?" Naruto saw that parts of the town were in construction and he also noticed a large chunk of a mansion being destroyed. Naruto decided to ask some inhabitants what happened to Lupinus Town. "Excuse me, what happened here?" He a group of construction workers.

"Oh, you must be from out of town. A fire wizard from a guild came here not too long ago and beat up some rogues, but he ended up causing this mess." Naruto immediately had an image of Natsu causing this destruction and began to sweat a little. Naruto excused himself as he and Kurama went to the address listed on the flyer.

"No wonder this town sounded familiar, it was one of Natsu's battlegrounds. I should've known." Naruto commented as he now had to be careful around this town in case a mob formed to chase him and Kurama. Naruto then collided with someone as he turned around a corner. 'Ow! What it me!?' Naruto rubbed his head until he opened his eyes and saw perhaps one of the most beautiful girls he has seen, but he realised that he knocked into her as she was rubbing her head too. The girl he knocked into was none other than Wendy Marvell. "Hey are you okay!?" Naruto got up to help the person up, offering his hand which she gladly took. "Sorry about that, I wasn't watching where I was going."

"N-No, I should apologize to you. I wasn't looking where I was going!" Wendy bowed as sign of apology. Naruto would not have it though.

"Looks like we both didn't see where we were going, so let's leave it be since we both apologised. Does that sound good to you?" Naruto smiled, which made Wendy return the gesture.

"Right. My name is Wendy, Wendy Marvell. It is a pleasure to meet you." Wendy bowed once more with Naruto doing the same. They were both interrupted by two fake coughs by their animal companions. "Carla!" Wendy turned to see her feline companion behind her.

"Kurama!" Naruto turned to see his loyal fox beside. Both youths had forgotten that they brought company with them.

"This hooligan doesn't deserve an apology from you Wendy, he was at fault." Carla spoke in mightier than you tone.

"Looks like you do have some manners after all blondie. I take back everything I said about you being an unsophisticated hairless monkey." Kurama spoke in a lazy tone.

"That wasn't nice Carla!"

"You called me a hairless monkey!" Both Wendy and Naruto then looked at the other's animal companions.

"A cat just like Happy!?" Naruto was shocked to see another cat that could talk like Happy from his guild. 'I hope she doesn't make stupid comments like him, one Happy is more than enough.'

"A talking nine-tailed fox!? And he's so cute!" Wendy's shock was overtaken by her admiration of Kurama's cuteness.

"He may seem cute but don't let that fool you. He's a lazy fox with a mouth to match." Naruto dodged Kurama's lunge as he was finally over the shock of seeing Carla. "Hey, cat. Tell me something, can you also grow wings?"

"My name isn't cat you ruffian! It is Carla. And how do you know that?" Carla demanded from him, with Wendy trying to calm her down.

"I'm from a wizard's guild and we also have a cat named Happy. He told me about his magic." Naruto replied to her, not liking Carla's attitude.

"You're a wizard too?" Wendy exclaimed and then noticed his guild mark on his arm. The same could be said for Naruto as he spotted her guild mark too. Wendy then realised something. "I'm sorry but I never got your name."

"Oh right. We were interrupted so I didn't get to tell you my name. My name is Naruto Uzumaki. This is Kurama." He pointed to the small fox, who now fell asleep.

"Did he just fall asleep?" Wendy questioned the blonde, who just sighed.

"Yeah, he does that a lot." Naruto just stared at his animal companion.

"Well it's nice to meet you Mr Naruto. This is Carla." Wendy politely gestured to Carla.

"Just Naruto is fine. Nice to meet you too Wendy." Naruto then realised he had to make his way to the Hyuuga Mansion. "I'm sorry, but I need to cut this short, we're actually on our way to place called the Hyuuga Mansion in this town."

"That's a coincidence, we're on our way there too." Wendy took out a flyer with Naruto taking out his own. "That's the same flyer I have but that mean we're on the same quest." Naruto was also surprised.

"I guess we both picked up the same job then. Now we must fight for the right to decide who gets this job." When Naruto mentioned fighting, Wendy's eyes comically widened, and she took a step back. Carla summoned her wings and would fly Wendy out of there if Naruto attacked her.

"I-I'm not much of a fighter and more of a support type. I do not want to fight you, so you can have this qu…" She was silenced by Naruto's laughter.

"Just kidding." He loved the shocked expression the two gave him with Kurama just joining Naruto in his laughter.

"Definitely one of your better jokes. It would have been funnier if you said it was to the death though." Now Naruto stopped laughing and looked at Kurama, angry. Wendy and Carla went pale as ghosts from hearing Kurama's words.

"You're a sadist, you know that?" Naruto commented before turning back to the other two. "We could go in together and let the person who put this flyer up decide who gets to take it. That sound like a plan?"

"That sounds good to me." Wendy easily agreed, with Carla also stating that it would be the best option since it was usually up to the potential employer anyway.

'I wonder how Erza's group is doing, I bet she already beat up the guys for something stupid.' Naruto mused to himself before joining the others into heading towards their destination.

(Guild Master's Meeting Hall)

"DAMN YOU!" The demonic flute Lullaby came to life and became a giant creature of destruction. It had planned to kill everyone using its curse, but Natsu, Erza and Gray all put holes through its body and prevented it from doing so. This was witnessed by the Guild Masters, Lucy, Happy and even the redeemed Kageyama.

Kageyama escaped with the flute earlier after Erigor was defeated by Natsu and the rest of their forces taken out by either Erza or Gray. With this, Eisenwald was defeated as the three Fairy Tail wizard finally took it out, but also destroyed the Guild Master's building.

(Back with Naruto's group)

"This place sure is fancy looking." Naruto whistled as the group was escorted inside the building, with the client making a fake cough. The man coming down from the stairs was a middle-aged man with long brown hair, a stern expression and his eyes were completely white. 'He looks like one of those serious types. And his eyes, he's not blind but they look strange.'

"Good evening, I am Hiashi Hyuuga. The mayor of this town." Hiashi saw that they were no older than his daughter. "When I asked for a wizard, I did not expect to see children." This made Naruto a little annoyed, but he showed restraint.

"Well, we're not kids and both of us are wizards." Naruto then saw Hiashi stare at Naruto's guild mark and immediately he jumped up with his eyes widening to comical proportions.

"YOU! YOU'RE FROM FAIRY TAIL!" Hiashi's expression was one of horror, even creeping out Wendy, though she was shocked to learn that Naruto was from a guild she admired.

"You're from Fairy Tail!" Wendy stood up, excited to meet someone from said guild. "Do you know Miss Erza!?" Wendy then realised that she was at a potential client's house and then faced the mayor of town. "I apologise for my outburst just now." She gave a small bow before setting herself back down.

"Now it makes sense. You're a ruffian that's from a guild full of ruffians." When Carla spoke, Hiashi jumped out of his seat after just calming down.

"A TALKING CAT!?" Hiashi then heard yawning and turned to see Kurama jumping on his coach.

"Could you keep it down, some of us trying to sleep." Kurama's appearance made him faint, especially after seeing he also bore the mark of Fairy Tail.

"He took that well, I think. Do a lot of people react to your cat like that?" Naruto asked Wendy, who was a little nervous compared to the blonde and checked on Hiashi.

"It's more common than you think, though it's the first time I've seen someone faint from shock. He should be fine though." She turned back to the blonde and placed her hands behind back. She looked shyer than usual. "So, is it true that you're a member of Fairy Tail?"

"Yeah I am. That's not a problem is it?" He had a stern expression, but it was replaced by surprise as Wendy became excited and began to question him about certain wizards, such as Erza and Mirajane.

(10 Minutes later)

"So, you people are not from the same guild? You and your companion, the white cat, are from Cait Shelter." Hiashi had woken up and was explained the situation by the wizards. "And you two are from Fairy Tail, the same guild where your friend, Salamander caused property damage to our town." Naruto just laughed at this.

"Sorry about that. Natsu tends to go overboard but at least he held back enough to let the people evacuate and nobody got hurt from that monster." Naruto replied, which Hiashi had to be grateful for, though it did not mean that one of Fairy Tail's wizards would be left out of the hook.

"Well, back to the topic at hand." Hiashi gazed at both. "Those flyers you two have are now outdated. The quest has changed from a missing person assignment to a retrieval one and raised the reward for it to 3 Million." This made the jaws of the wizards, except Kurama, widen.

"Can you explain what happened?" Wendy asked him, causing Hiashi to sigh in frustration. He revealed a picture of his daughter, another beautiful girl around Wendy and Naruto's age. She had the same eyes as her father, her hair was dark blue, slightly darker than Wendy's own hair. In the picture she wore a lavender sundress and had a fair complexion.

"This is my daughter, Hinata. She had run away from home a few weeks ago and I sent some of my employees after her. After they could not find her, I sent out those flyers to various wizard's guilds. But a few days ago, she was discovered with a group of thugs that stole cargo meant for a nearby trading town. I believe she is being forced to join them and I fear for her safety."

"I see. Have you decided which one of us is going to get her?" Naruto asked him, with said man sighing.

"I do not care who goes as long as you bring back Hinata. Either go by yourselves or team up and split up the money. Would that not suffice?" Hiashi made a point, as Wendy and Naruto looked at each other.

"I'm down with splitting the money evenly, how about you?" Naruto questioned her, with Wendy giving him a smile and nodding at him. "We'll find her together, I mean since the original job was 500,000 anyway, we can't complain about that."

'Great, she makes friends with an uncouth ruffian. At least this quest will pay well.' This was the thought of Carla, though her thought process was halted as Hiashi asked for their names.

"I did not get your names young ones, what are they?" Hiashi retained his stern gaze and had expected an answer.

"I apologise, I am Wendy Marvell and this my companion Carla. We're both from the guild, Cait Shelter." Wendy had gestured to Carla, with Naruto doing the same for Kurama.

"The fox is Kurama and I'm Naruto Uzumaki." When Naruto mentioned his name, Hiashi's eyes widened before they returned to normal. "Something wrong?"

"No, it's just that I'm surprised to learn that you are the one they call Paladin of the Sea." Hiashi then told them where Hinata was last spotted and gave them directions, also advising them to start their search in the morning. After they left, Hiashi went to his office and resumed his paperwork. 'That girl has caused me to fall behind my paperwork all because of her refusal to one contract. No matter, she'll be back safe and sound once she returns.'

(Oshibana Town)

'They've all been captured, I can only hope that the plan was carried out.' Erigor was limping and looked worse for wear. He had used his remaining magic to fly back to town, only to find his former guild mates captured by the authorities. Erigor managed evade them for now and found himself in dirty alley. 'It seems that I have no choice but to remain a pawn of the Oracion Seis.'

"Sorry, but we don't need a traitor like you in our group." A voice surprised Erigor and made said man turn around slowly, looking up to see a purple serpent with wings and a man sitting on it. The man has dark tan skin, upward facing spiky maroon hair and wore a long white coat.

"C-Cobra!" Erigor landed on his backside and was now fearful of the person that landed in front of him. "Why are you here!?"

"You think we didn't know that you planned to desert us and join up with Death Head's Caucus? My boss has connections with their Guild Master, so he gave us information about you. You know, if you succeeded, we would have let you go." Cobra had a menacing aura surrounding his body and he moved forward, further frightening Erigor.

"I won't die here!" Erigor released a blast of wind as Cobra moved in for the kill. All that was heard was Erigor's screams.

(Back with Naruto's group)

"We'll rest up and head out in the morning. It'll be no good if we're too tired to find Hinata." 'That guy didn't look like he was worried about his daughter one bit, I guess I need to ask this Hinata girl why she ran away in the first place.' Naruto pushed those thoughts aside for now and focused on rest for now. Kurama already went to sleep, with Carla shortly going to sleep after glaring at Naruto.

"Hey, Naruto." Wendy gained Naruto's attention. "Mayor Hiashi, it didn't look like he was concerned about his daughter, in fact, I feel like he's only asking us to find her because he needs her for something." Wendy knew the difference between a caring parent and one who was not.

"So, you noticed it too? Yeah, I've seen these types of parents before, that guy definitely doesn't look like he wanted his daughter back just because he misses her." Naruto then yawned. "Get some rest and we'll talk more tomorrow morning." Wendy could only nod in confirmation but wanted to ask Naruto one more question.

"So, what is it like being a member of Fairy Tail?" Wendy wanted to ask this since finding out Naruto was a member of Fairy Tail.

"Oh right, you were asking all those questions before you got interrupted by the mayor." Naruto then smiled. "We're a strange bunch from what other people say and when I joined, I couldn't believe what it was like. Even now, we brawl with each other, we cause so much property damage that we could be our own demolition crew, we have a drunkard, an exhibitionist and a guy who claims to be manly way too much." This made Wendy a little nervous. "And I love every second of it." This surprised her before she smiled at him. "What's it like being part of Fairy Tail? It's the best damn thing in the world because to me they aren't just my friends, they're my family." Naruto then looked at the stars. "And what about you?"

"Me? Well, Cait Shelter took me in when I was left alone. I found Carla's egg a year later and she became my best friend. Our guild isn't like yours, but they are nice people." Wendy yawned herself now and decided to turn in for the night.

(Unknown Location)

"Hey! That was a good haul! Those fools should really invest in a bodyguard!" There were plenty of mean and women wearing rough clothing, all sat around a big fire. However, one of them sat all alone, tightly gripping her own fists. Hinata Hyuuga looked down at her plate with a sombre expression.

'What have I become?' She thought to herself in disappointment.
