I was not in the mood. Most certainly not.

"Aelita," I heard a small voice call. I looked up to none other than short chocolate brown hair with a zillion purple streaks. None other than Ebony.

I didn't even bother being fake. "Hi." I pulled at the collar of my cardigan. Her Hazel eyes began to glow with a red undertone. I struggled to pull away from her unbreakable cold stare. My heart began to beat a little faster.

She began to smile. "Have you seen Odd?"

Odd? What did she want with Odd? "No." It was the truth. Maybe I was just as curious as her. I looked up again. She was perfect. Her flawless skin was impaled with light freckles. I looked down in fear of being caught in her net again.

"Oh. Just wondering. See you later," she called, fading into the usual hallway crowd.

Why does it have to be this way? Why am I always caught fighting for what's mine? I'd just find Odd first.

I felt a light tap on my shoulder. "Odd," I blushed, delighted. Perfect.

"Aelita," he was glowing lightly with the same fury I had glimpsed in Ebony's eyes. He lightly touched my arm.

Slam.

The home room doors shut and we were late. He looked at me in this funny way...like he wanted to kiss me.

And just my luck, here came Ebony right around the corner. Her mouth dropped open with shock. And then an angry red glow twisted around her eyes and a grin twisted around her face.

Odd realized that I was avoiding his eyes and turned around, letting go of me. Why did he have to let go?

"Hey, Ebony," He said, turning around.

"Was I disturbing something?" She asked, backing up as her black argyle socked legs knocking into each other.

"No, no, your fine. We weren't doing anything," he said chuckling.

We weren't?

"Oh, okay," she said smiling at me in relief.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Aelita," he called, walking off. "Bye, Ebony."

"Goodbye," Ebony said innocently, turning away.

I looked at my shoes in shame that I was alone. I would had to fight for what was mine.
