~Henry's POV~
"Why end the book on an empty page?" Sera asked confused. "Shouldn't there be a happy ending?"
"Well, in an epic tale like this, there's usually an open ending," I said. "But there has to be an ending for them. And hopefully a good one." I slapped the book shut and handed it to Sera.
She stared at it, a look of contemplation on her face. She bit her bottom lip, thinking before shoving it back towards me.
"Bea doesn't need it," She said. "She has read this book dozens of times. I'm sure she won't miss it."
"But you said-"
"I'll just tell her it was lost when I donated the books, that it wasn't one of those," She smirked. "I'll chance another attempted murder to let you keep it." I gave her a look, seeing the fear in her eyes.
"You can stay as long as you like," I said, taking her hand and squeezing it. Though, it's strange. This simple act of kindness on my part, this simple touch...it felt familiar.
"Thanks, Henry," Sera said, taking a few short breaths. "It's strange though how my name is in the book."
"Your name?" I asked.
"Yeah! My full name is Serafina Holt. And if my suspicions are correct," She flipped open the book to the page her name was on and pointed. "Spell the same way."
I stared in disbelief. She had the same name as the princess in the book. How did I not notice that before? How did it not click? And with the fact that she has the same color hair as the girl in my dreams should have been a BIG red flag.
Could she be the Moon Princess?
I shook the thought away for a moment, thinking it over. If she was the Moon Princess from the book, then she'd remember now that the curse was lifted. Right?
Oh, who am I kidding? She was from the Enchanted Forest before it became enchanted. Before the Evil Queen came around and cast the curse. Before my grandparents took power. She wouldn't be affected by the curse.
"Henry, you okay?" Sera asked, making me look at her. With her gorgeous blue eyes and perfect hair, I couldn't comprehend why she was so familiar. I'd remember a face like hers if I had met her before.
Why couldn't I?
"I'm fine," I said, smiling at her now. "Just tired."
She gave me a look and giggled. "I've used that excuse on Bea and the orphanage manager. I know that usually means something's on your mind." I scoffed, amused. She knew the same tricks as me.
"Now, tell me," She asked. "What's wrong?"
I sighed, taking a deep breath before turning completely to her and setting the book aside. I guess I should tell her.
"Have you ever had a dream? A dream from the Enchanted Forest, but with different people and places and you-"
"-feel like you belong?" She finished, making me stare in shock. "Every night."
"So you've seen her, too?" I asked, receiving a confused cock from her head.
"Her?" She asked. "I've seen HIM, but never a girl." I stared. She's seen the man I've only heard in my dreams. "What's she look like?"
"You're not going to believe this," I said, looking down my hands.
"The bar on unbelievable is pretty high right now," I chuckled as I looked back at her. "What's she look like? I've only heard her."
"She looks like you," I said, making her stare in surprise. "Well, you, but..." I paused and showed a photo of the Moon Princess from the book. "...her as well. That make sense?"
"Yeah, it does," She said. "And the man that you probably hear looks like him." She pointed to the prince that stood before the princess in the photo, making me stare for a moment.
He did...
"Henry! Sera! Dinner's ready!" Grandma called, making me close the book again and look at Sera.
"Let's eat," She said as she stood up and I followed, stopping her movements.
"Let's not mention this to my family," I said. "Let's have this mystery be between us."
She smiled, seeming to like this idea.
"Agreed," She said. "We can figure out more at the library tomorrow if you want."
"It's a date," I said, freezing as I stammered to fix what I said. But she just giggled and nodded, her way of saying she knew what I meant.
I just smiled as we both headed downstairs and ate our dinner.
The morning seemed to be coming slowly. All I wanted was to go there now and search for answers. I didn't want to wait until tomorrow. I looked at the time on my phone, seeing it read 3 am. I sighed.
So slow.
I could hear Sera's soft snores in the bed beside me, making me look over and see her sleeping face, so peaceful, so beautiful.
Ah! I need to stop. If what I assume is true and she is the Moon Princess, then she is to marry Prince Harold of Earth. There was no room in her heart for an affair.
"Henry?" I looked back to see Sera had woken up. "You're still up?" She rubbed her eyes a bit as she sat up. "It's 3 at night."
"I know, I just can't sleep," I sighed. "The first night I won't get to see her."
"Same for me," She said. "The prince I've been seeing is alluding to me tonight." I gave her a look, thinking of an idea. I looked at the time again, 3:05.
"It's technically morning," I said, looking at Sera, a smirk on my face. She gave me a squinted look, one that told me she was confused. "How about we go look now?"
