Reunion

Oh, the pain was unbearable. His mind had cleared suddenly, as if someone had closed the door on a room of cacophony and horrors, but the pain was intransigent. He'd made so many mistakes, so many. Was this his punishment? He peered ahead uncertainly; was it truly a fog he walked through, or something else? Wouldn't fog cool the burning of his skin? (
He stepped forward and suddenly he was enclosed in someone's arms. Gentle fingers ran over his hands, his arms, his face, leaving trails of coolness behind them. Blessed coolness that spread and poured over his entire body as if he stood under a waterfall, the burning and pain vanishing as if they had never been. Hands cradled his face and soft lips touched each eye and his vision cleared.
He blinked and tears fell down upon his newly healed cheeks as a beloved and much missed face smiled back at him.
"Fin?"
