Chapter 24 - Wedding Day

Two months had passed since the attack and things had improved for the Uzumaki family, to an extent at least. While they were indeed getting along and having fun together, as well as doing a variety of missions during this time frame, there was one big problem that decided to rear its ugly head.

Inoichi Yamanaka had become something of a problem in the past month. He had noticed that Ino and Naruto weren't growing closer as a potential couple, especially considering he had never heard of or seen her on a date with Naruto. Inoichi had confronted Sean recently about the lack of progress being made and demanded that he do more to get Naruto and his baby girl together.

Sean, hearing this, wanted to deck Inoichi. Instead, he told Inoichi to get lost and to stop harassing them. The Yamanaka clan head had threatened him once again should he not do as Inoichi 'suggested'. However, Sean, rather than allow Inoichi to get away with his crap, told him to just go ahead and go through with his threat. This shocked Inoichi to the point that he left without any further words.

Now, however, the Uzumaki clan head was in the council chambers, facing a problem he hoped he wouldn't have to deal with. Inoichi had, indeed, gone through with his threat. "Sean Uzumaki is still guilty of the crime of revealing classified information to Naruto Uzumaki, despite it being an S-class secret, punishable by death. It's unknown how he even came across such information, but the fact of the matter is he committed a crime and needs to be punished for it."

The blue-haired Uzumaki grumbled at this and said, "It's a secret that everyone knows now anyways. What's the point of this? Some personal grudge against me? What the hell did I ever do to you, anyways? Besides that, Naruto-kun had a right to know who his parents were. Why keep such a secret from him? I'd say he did a good job of staying quiet about it until that punk Uchiha pissed him off enough to reveal said information. If not for that, it would still be a secret, and a damn well kept one. As for how I knew said information, that's my secret. Besides that, wasn't it kind of obvious who his parents were for anyone with a pair of eyes and a good head on their shoulders? I mean, he's a Minato look-a-like for crying out loud! And who did Minato spend a great deal of time with? Kushina Uzumaki! He was even given the Uzumaki name for crying out loud! So, I ask you Inoichi Yamanaka, what the hell is the point of all this? What did I ever do to you?"

Tsunade quirked a brow as she looked at Inoichi. "That's actually a really good question. Just what is fueling this crusade of yours to knock Sean down a few pegs?"

Inoichi flinched and glanced around at his fellow clan heads, hoping he'd have some kind of support. However, when he saw them looking at him with stern expressions on their faces, he grumbled irritably to himself. Of course they'd want to know. Can't get any damn support, even from my friends.

Sighing, the blonde mindwalker closed his eyes and shook his head. "I'd prefer not to say, Hokage-sama."

"Either you tell us what your grudge is with Sean or this matter will be dismissed, Inoichi." Tsunade said, sounding quite irritated at the moment.

Grumbling and clenching his fists tight, Inoichi glared at Sean and shouted, "It's because of him that one of my best friends within my clan was killed!"

Sean blinked and thought back on all the missions he had taken in the past. When he realized what Inoichi was talking about, he scowled. "You're pissed at me for your friend saving my life on that mission all those years ago? I didn't kill him, Inoichi! I was about to receive a fatal blow and he protected me, giving me the chance to finish our opponent. If we just had a competent medic with us, he might have survived. But Tsunade-sama's motion to have a trained combat medic on every team failed because those old bats over there," he said, pointing at Homura, Koharu, and Danzo, "felt it wasn't worth the expense! If you want to blame anyone for what happened to your friend, blame them!"

Before Inoichi could say anything in response, Danzo scoffed, catching everyone's attention. "Such a thing wasn't worth the expense. There would be no need for medics on a team if our soldiers were more competent."

The Uzumaki clan head glared fiercely at Danzo and said, "Shut the fuck up you blind old fool! You're a rotten old bat that claims to be a patriot. You claim that everything you do is in the good of Konoha. But that's fucking BULLSHIT! Everything, and I do mean everything you do is only ever to benefit yourself. If you had your way, you'd make enemies out of every other nation! You're nothing more than a warmonger! Face it Danzo, you're just a monster."

Danzo scowled at Sean, but when the Uzumaki head smirked and pointed towards his own eyes, the warhawk knew he had fucked up. Shit! I didn't expect him to use those eyes on me!

Sean, looking at Tsunade, smirked as he said, "Hokage-sama, I do believe you should look under Danzo's bandages. You might see something…interesting."

Tsunade's eyes narrowed as she heard this. She saw the gesture that Sean had made towards Danzo before he said that. Getting the hint, she looked at Danzo and ordered him to remove his bandages. When he didn't comply, she called out, "Anbu! Restrain Danzo and remove his bandages! I want to see what he's hiding!"

Scowling at this, Danzo watched as his most loyal guards appeared and cut down the Anbu that attempted to get to him. "I'm afraid you have no power here, Tsunade." he said before nodding to his Root. "Get me out of here."

Homura scowled as he looked at Danzo. "Hiruzen ordered you to disband Root! What do you think you're doing, Danzo?! You're a traitor to your own village! A village you swore to protect! Does that mean nothing to you?!"

Danzo scoffed again and went to say something, only to blink in shock as his bandages fell to pieces, revealing his grotesque arm and the many Sharingan eyes, including the one in his eye socket. Looking towards Sean, he saw the Uzumaki clan head rising from his seat. "You really are quite the thorn in the side, aren't you Uzumaki? I had hoped not to reveal this until I was ready to take Konoha as my own."

Tsunade rose from her seat, as did the remaining clan heads. "For crimes of treason against the great village of Konohagakure, you are hereby sentenced to death, Danzo Shimura!"

Before anyone could make a move against him, Danzo called his Root to him before disappearing together with them. Once they were gone, Tsunade punched the table, damn near shattering it in her anger. "Damn it! Anbu! Hunt him down and report his location as fast as you can!"

As more Anbu appeared and bowed to her before disappearing, Tsunade sighed and ordered everyone to take their seats once more. "Unfortunately, we still aren't done here. Danzo was simply a distraction from the issue we were discussing." Looking into Inoichi's eyes, the beautiful Hokage shook her head and said, "I'm afraid I'll have to refuse your request to punish Sean Uzumaki for his apparent 'crimes'. All this is is one man with a vendetta against another for something that happened far too long ago to be relevant. If you want, I'll look through the old mission records and see what I can find out in regards to your lost relative. But it sounds like what happened gives you no reason to place the blame on Sean for what happened."

Inoichi sighed and shook his head. "I'll let it go for now. But I still want to know why the relationship between my daughter and Naruto isn't progressing any. Is she still interested in that other person?"

Sean sighed and scratched at the back of his head. "Inoichi...your daughter's in love with me. Not Naruto-kun. I don't want to lie to you anymore. Turning to glare at his friend, the Yamanaka clan head growled out, "Let me go, Shikaku. I'm going to kill him!"

"Troublesome. That's exactly why I'm stopping you. Yes, I can understand why you're upset, but do you really want to end up in prison or perhaps even executed for killing a fellow shinobi of Konoha? So calm yourself and think rationally here."

Inoichi growled as he looked at Sean. "I'm bringing my daughter back home. I'm going to keep her far away from you, Uzumaki! You won't corrupt my little girl!"

Sean frowned at this and shook his head. "If you do that, you're just going to push her away. She's going to hate you and curse your name for this. There's a good chance your relationship with her might never be mended. And chances are she'll just run away from you, just as Hanabi did from the Hyuga clan. Are you willing to wage war against my clan just as the Hyuga's did? Is that really what you want?"

The blonde man glared fiercely at Sean and said, "If it keeps her away from you, I'll do whatever it takes! Even if it means I have to force her to quit being a kunoichi and lock her in her damn room all day, I'll do it just to keep you from touching my daughter!"

Tsunade scowled as she looked hard at Inoichi. "Watch what you say, Inoichi. It sounds as if you just threatened to wage war against the Uzumaki clan so long as it means you get what you want. I could have you thrown in a cell for that."

Inoichi shot a glare at Tsunade and asked, "How can you just allow this?! Who knows what the hell he's already done to my daughter?! This is wrong on so many levels!"

The Fifth Hokage frowned and shook her head disappointedly. "I can assure you that the most they've done is kiss and hold hands. She wants to take it to the next level, but as Sean said, he'd prefer to wait. Yes, there's a big age difference there, but love is love. You can't control who you fall in love with. Shikaku shook his head and said, "No, Sean. You did the right thing by telling him. No one could have predicted that he would go quite that far. Tsunade scowled and shook her head in disbelief. "This whole situation is a horrible mess. Ino's not going to be happy with her father when she learns about this." Sighing softly, she decided to just change the subject. "Anyways, we should focus our attention on hunting down Danzo and putting an end to that bastard. Keep an eye out and do what you can to find him. He's obviously kept Root running in secret, so there's a good chance they might be seen around the village if you search carefully enough. Should you find one, tail him/her to find out where they go. Afterwards, get help and inform me of what's going on. We can't let Danzo get away with what he's done."

After a moment to let that settle in, she turned to Sean and smiled at him. "Anyways, your wedding to Anko is soon, isn't it? I'm looking forward to the celebration."

The white-eyed Uzumaki shook his head and offered his girlfriend an apologetic smile. "Sorry, but I'll be alright. I plan to do a lot more in my time away than just target Orochimaru's hideouts. I'd like to visit other villages and try to patch things up if I can. Hopefully I can make us some new allies in the process. Taking too many people with me would only cause problems. Besides that, I know I can handle any problems I might face. Just trust me." he said with a smile on his face.

The beautiful Fifth Hokage sighed and nodded her head in acceptance of that. "I do trust you. But I still can't help but worry about you."

Nodding his head in understanding, Sean said, "It'll be okay. I'll stop by your office later if you want to talk about this in more detail?"

And face it, Jiraiya-boy, your books could use some work. Whatever happened to the spark you had when you wrote your first book? Now that was a good piece of literature."

Shima frowned as she looked up into Jiraiya's eyes. "Come on Jiraiya-kun. Let it go. Kami knows how you feel about Tsunade-chan, but your habits only pushed her away from you. You have it in you to be a better person than this. Just...let it go."

Jiraiya scowled and shouted, "You're going to take his side?! This asshole has ruined so many lives with his actions! Because of him, Hiashi Hyuga and the elders of the Hyuga clan, Inoichi Yamanaka, Asuma Sarutobi, and who knows how many others have all had their lives RUINED! And there's a high chance that, even if Tsunade-hime doesn't make it a mission, he'll abandon the village to go in search of Orochimaru and his family. So yes, he's a flight risk and I vowed to stop him should he ever get out of hand! So are you going to help me or not?!"

The Toad elders frowned and shook their heads in disappointment. "If you go through with this Jiraiya-boy, it'll be without our help. We aren't taking sides, but we recognize that there are problems with you both. Instead of trying to work things out, you're choosing violence. So I promise you now Jiraiya-boy, if you go through with this, your name will be removed from our summoning contract. Do you really want to risk that just to get some form of petty revenge on this man?"

Jiraiya scowled and was about to yell something in anger at the Toad elders, but he felt a wave of killing intent wash over him that caused a shiver to go down his spine. "Fukasaku-sama, Shima-sama, thank you for taking a stand against his actions. Jiraiya, how dare you watch my boyfriend and I make love?! I feel...I feel so violated right now! This is so much worse than that time I caught you peeping on me! I swear to Kami that if you try to attack Sean-kun again, I will destroy you! I don't give a damn that you run our village's spy network, I'll make you suffer before I end your life!" Tsunade shouted as she walked up to stand beside her boyfriend.

Jiraiya frowned deeply at this and said, "You were supposed to be with me! I've been pining after you for years and then you meet this bastard and you give him a chance right away?! Where the hell's the justice in that?! And even you have to admit that he's a chaotic force that's turned this village on its head. Look at everything he's done and all the people he's hurt! Something has to be done about him before he hurts anyone else!"

Sean sighed and looked down at the toads. "I'm sorry you were called here for this, Fukasaku-sama, Shima-sama. Thank you for trying to make peace between us...but it seems that as long as I'm here, things won't be resolved. I don't even know how to fix this situation we've found ourselves in. It seems that putting distance between us won't work, because he's trying to keep me from going to save my family from Orochimaru. So, even if Tsunade-chan makes it into a mission and allows me to leave the village for a few years, he'll just come after me and try to drag me back! As for me ruining lives? Honestly, I don't plan things like that! Circumstances surrounding me spiral out of control and people get hurt because of it. I never wanted Hiashi to die. I didn't want to see Inoichi hurt. I don't know why these things happen, and I'm sorry, okay? There's nothing I can do to fix everything. No magical wand I can wave to put everything right again. Just...let it go Jiraiya! You have to realize that what you're doing is wrong?"

Clenching his fists, Jiraiya closed his eyes tight and began to breathe deeply, letting it out slowly. "I'm not wrong about you, Sean. You're not a good person and something has to be done about you before you hurt anyone else."

Sighing softly, Sean closed his eyes and shook his head in apparent disbelief. "You just don't quit, do you? If you had your way, what would you do, Jiraiya? Kill me?"

Tsunade spoke up before Jiraiya could respond. "I wouldn't let him. Jiraiya, Sean is not being punished because he's done nothing wrong. If he had done something, I wouldn't show him any form of favoritism, I'd make sure he was punished appropriately. I may be in love with him, but that doesn't give him a pass. So just let. It. GO! I'm tired of this! If you insist on lashing out against him, I'll do whatever it takes to bring you down. Do you understand me, Jiraiya?!"

"Fine. Fine! I'll let it go...for now. But don't come to me later when something else happens, because I'll just tell you "I told you so." And Sean had better stay the hell away from me, because I'm likely to kill him for what he's done." Jiraiya said angrily.

"And that's a threat against a fellow shinobi. That's it Jiraiya, you're going to rot in a cell until you've calmed down and stop this nonsense. If you insist on pursuing this course of action and in your attempts to kill Sean-kun, you will be put to death." Tsunade said as she motioned to her Anbu to take Jiraiya away.

As Jiraiya was dragged away, he spewed a variety of curses at Sean, as well as more threats of varying kinds. Once he was gone, Sean closed his eyes and shook his head. "Why? Why does shit like this keep happening?"

Fukasaku looked at Sean and shook his head. "I don't know. But Jiraiya's proven himself to be an unstable person. Tell Naruto-kun that Jiraiya's name has been stricken from the contract. Naruto will be our sole summoner from this point forth. This isn't the only instance that Jiraiya's disappointed us. Ever since he was told of that blasted prophecy, he's been like a man possessed, obsessing over it. First Nagato, then Minato, and now Naruto-kun. We're done. We've had it with him."

Shima patted her husband on the shoulder before looking up at Sean. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry for Jiraiya's actions. Things may look grim now, but I think you've done a fine job with Naruto-kun. He's turned into such a fine, young man. Aside from that, I truly believe you're a good person at heart. Whatever these situations are that have caused these people pain, you're still a good person. Take care of yourself." she said before vanishing with her husband.

Tsunade hugged Sean tight and kissed his forehead lightly. "Sean-kun, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. You shouldn't have had to. And...and…"

As Tsunade began to shake, Sean hugged her close and gently ran his fingers through her hair. "I know, sweetheart. I know. I wanted so badly to tear him apart for what he did. Watching us...ugh! I fucking hate him."

"So do I. I can barely keep myself together right now. Why would he do this?!"

"Because he's a bastard, Tsu-chan. Let's get you home. You can worry about work later." Sean said as he began to lead Tsunade back to the Uzumaki estate.

As they walked, Tsunade couldn't help but cry. She felt so violated by what had happened. She thought for sure that Jiraiya had learned his lesson after she beat him nearly to death, but it seemed he hadn't learned his lesson after all.

Seeing his girlfriend in tears, Sean hugged her close and kissed the top of her head. Jiraiya, you're officially on my shit list. If you ever come after me again, I'm going to kill you. That's a promise.

The Next Morning

Ino scowled as she listened to Sean. She was furious that her father had said the things he did and acted in such a manner. After all, her father had tried to kill her precious Seanie-kun! However, before she could say anything, a jingle sounded throughout the house, signalling that someone was at the gate.

Blinking at this, Sean rose from his chair and opened the front door, only to see Setsuna, Ino's mother, standing at the gate. Walking up to the gate, he asked, "Setsuna-san? What brings you here?"

"Before I answer that, do you think you could let me in? We need to have a talk."

Sean frowned, but opened the gate anyways, despite his instincts telling him it was probably a bad idea. He led her inside and motioned for her to take a seat while he went back to his favorite chair. "So, what brings you here?"

Setsuna took a seat on one of the couches and released a heavy sigh as she folded her hands into fists on her lap and unclenched them a moment later. It appeared as if she was trying to calm herself before she did something she'd regret. Eventually, she looked into Sean's eyes and said, "I was told by my husband that you're seeing my daughter. While I admit that my husband crossed a line in attacking you like he did, I still feel he was right. I'm here to take my daughter home. I don't feel comfortable leaving her here with you. She's far too young yet to be doing...that with you."

Ino glared at her mother and shouted, "We haven't done anything like that yet! The most we've done is hug each other, kiss, hold hands, and cuddle! Seanie-kun refuses to do anything like that until I'm older. What the hell did Daddy tell you anyways?!"

Setsuna frowned as she looked at her daughter. After a moment, she looked at Sean and asked, "Is that true?"

Sean sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "She's telling you the truth, Setsuna-san. Kissing and cuddling is as far as we've taken our relationship. If it helps, I genuinely love her. I respect her as well and would never, ever do anything she didn't want."

Ino grumbled to herself as she folded her arms across her chest. "Not for lack of trying on my part…"

Setsuna's eyes widened as she looked at her daughter in shock. "What?! You mean to tell me that you've been trying to...to…?"

Setsuna looked at Sean with a frown before she looked back at her daughter. "I see." Turning to look at Sean, she bowed her head and said, "I'm sorry. It appears I have misjudged you, just as my husband did. I will try to talk to him and assure him that our baby girl is just fine. Just...promise me you'll continue to wait until she's truly ready and mature enough?"

The Uzumaki clan head smiled at Setsuna and nodded his head. "Of course. Though you should know that I'll be leaving on a long-term mission soon that'll keep me out of Konoha for a few years, most likely. I just hope she'll be alright without me." he teased.

Setsuna giggled a bit as she looked at her daughter. "I don't know. She can be a little impatient sometimes. Having to be without you for so long might be more than she can take."

Ino pouted and looked between the two of them in disbelief. "That's not nice! Don't tease me like that you guys!"

Sean and Setsuna couldn't help but chuckle at that. After they calmed down, Setsuna rose from the couch and offered Sean a smile. "I'll try to smooth things over with my husband for you. He can be a bit…"

"Overprotective?" Ino suggested.

"Yes. I didn't expect him to attack you though." she said, looking at Sean. "Anyways, I'm going to go. I hope to be there for your wedding to Anko."

"Of course. You're more than welcome to come." Sean said as he stood up and went to show her out. Once she was gone, Sean sealed the gate again before heading back inside. Looking at his young girlfriend, Sean walked up to her and whispered in her ear, "Never said we couldn't do a little...light 'petting'. So long as we don't go all the way, I don't see a problem in pleasing you in that aspect."

Ino blushed deeply as she looked up into his eyes. "But you said…!"

Sean chuckled and nodded his head. "I know what I said. But I never said I wouldn't take things a step further. You just assumed that. And you know better than to make such assumptions, my adorable Ino-chan."

Glaring at him, Ino got up and took his hand. "That's it! You're going to give me what I want for tricking me like that!"

Before Naruto could say anything in response, she licked his cheek, causing him to turn red and turn to face her. Sean and their guests chuckled at this, leaving her blushing a bit. Taking her hand in his, Sean said, "Anko-hime, I vow to cherish and love you forever. I'll always be here for you, through thick and thin. And I vow to make your enemies mine as well. I promise you here and now that I'll make Orochimaru suffer for what he did to you. I vow to protect you from any and all threats. And I promise I'll love you even when we're old and gray." he said, chuckling a bit at the end.

"You'd better still love me then. You're stuck with me forever, Buster." Anko said, teasing him goodnaturedly.

After that was all said and done, the wedding ceremony proceeded without incident and soon came to an end.
