Bo smiled as she looked down. Lauren had been reading a book and fell asleep in the woman's arms. She gently reached down and took the book. "Lauren".
"Hmm? The blonde replied.
"It is time for bed, babe". Bo smiled as she gently rocked the hammock from side to side.
The doctor yawned and opened her eyes. "What time is it?".
"Time for bed". Bo gently pushed up so the woman would climb out first.
"I'm sorry about that. I didn't know I was that sleepy". Lauren gently raised up so the force wouldn't tilt the hammock.
"Hey, I fell asleep too. I guess we were both comfy". Bo smiled as she stood.
The women took turns showering and climbed into bed. Bo shut every light off so Lauren wouldn't be tempted to stay up. She did smile when the woman fell asleep and was soon mumbling something.
The Dal.
Bo sat drinking some coffee as she waited for her meeting. She knew she should have picked a private spot but she didn't want to go out of her way for people that wouldn't go out of their way for her.
"Bo?". Trick walked up.
"I'm not in the mood for bullshit, Trick". Bo looked up.
"I was just speaking. How are you doing?". Trick asked.
"I'm doing very well". Bo picked up her coffee and took another sip.
Trick walked back and forth before he spoke again. "Bo, this mate thing".
"She's my mate. I won't ever have another. I know you don't like her. You probably think we wouldn't last but we will. If you are plotting for me to get back with Dyson, forget it. I'm where I belong". Bo set her cup down, hard.
"There's no need for anger, Bo. I wasn't going to suggest that at all. It is just the Fae, they won't like it.". Trick stopped walking.
"I don't give a damn what the Fae thinks. I'm only Fae by birth, not by bullshit politics". Bo poured her coffee out and ordered a fresh one. She looked around and breathed in relief when her meeting was about to happen.
"Succubus". Blackthorn spoke.
"Is it done?". Bo asked.
"Almost but you could have asked me that over the phone". Blackthorn rolled his eyes.
"And you could have lied over the phone". Bo raised her eyebrows.
"Such a disobedient, spoiled brat". Blackthorn gritted his teeth.
"I can make you lose those". Bo walked towards the man but Trick pulled him back. "That's what I thought. Just a pussy".
"Dr. Lewis has been valuable to us for years. Something that you will never be. Her arrangements are with the Light and Dark Fae. No unaligned Succubus is required". Blackthorn yanked his arm from Trick.
"She's an unaligned mate. Everything that concerns her, concerns me. My doctor is restless so your people need to hurry and finish her clinic. Don't make me call you again". Bo walked past the men and she laughed hearing the old man growling. He knows he can't touch her.
Bo wasn't gone long before she pulled up again. This meeting wasn't planned and she didn't care. She walked past the ogres. She stopped when she reached the Morrigan's office. "Are we good here?".
"Damn it! Can't one Succubus knock?". The Morrigan laughed.
"We don't believe in that shit". Aife laughed. "Have a seat baby".
"No. I just want to make sure nothing is going on behind my back. Nothing bad that is". Bo waved the seat off.
"You don't have anything to fear on my end. I always wanted a Succubus. Your mother fits that need". The Morrigan laughed.
"I don't like the sound of that". Bo shook her head.
"I'm not pledged to the Dark. We just have an agreement that will benefit the both of us. Mainly we stick it to the Light Fae and Trick for our amusement". Aife drank her wine.
"She's right, Bo. She's not Dark Fae. She's like a Light Fae bounty hunter. Nothing we do will touch your life with the good doctor". The Morrigan sat back in her seat. Bo stood reading her aura. She almost looked sincere, but years on the run and being new to the Fae world still had her suspecting everyone as a suspect.
"I would kill this bitch, and she knows it". Aife turned serious.
"Well, I just had a little meeting with Blackthorn. He said Lauren's clinic is almost done. He better keep his word and the two of you better keep yours. I will drain this colony of the Fae and Lauren and I will start this world all over again." Bo walked out without another word.
"Can she really do that?". The Morrigan whispered.
"She really can". Aife laughed.
"Young folks". The Morrigan went back to writing.
Kenzi and Dyson
The two entered the Dal. Dyson growled when he caught Bo's scent. It was stale but just enough remained to let him know she had been there recently.
"Dude, can't you throw ice water on that thing, for once?". Kenzi rolled her eyes.
"I'm without my mate for her, but I'm still a wolf with needs". Dyson took a seat and patted the counter. Trick rolled his eyes and ordered someone else to serve them.
"Well, she's moved on. You need to too". Kenzi's eyes went wide and she ordered something to eat and drink. She was half asleep when Dyson showed up out of nowhere. She's always down for food and drink but Dyson lusting after Bo is growing stale and tacky. "What's the new place I saw going up? She asked to change the subject.
"It's a new building". Trick answered dryly.
"Well duh, I know it's a building. But what is it going to be?". Kenzi asked.
"It's not really important". Trick tried his best to skirt around the truth. With Dyson there, he'd lose his shit and probably try to destroy the Dal.
"He's stalling Kenzi. It must be top secret". Dyson squinted his eyes at Trick. He didn't even trust to tell even him.
"I'd advise you both to stay clear of that place." Trick finally walked over.
"Just spill it, Trick!". Dyson screamed.
"It's a new clinic". Trick walked away.
"A clinic means a doctor...". Kenzi rambled.
"It can't be for her!". Dyson screamed.
"Grow up Dyson. You are thousands of years old crying like a baby over spilled milk. They are not your concern! Bo is family and you will not hurt her!". Trick screamed. The room stopped at the sound. Trick had never spoken so loudly and called out his own wolf.
"The Elders must be told. It's treason. That is Light Fae land!". Dyson pulled his phone out. Trick walked back over to him and watched as he spoke on the phone. He watched the man's face go pale when he must have been told the truth. He walked away when Dyson hung up his phone.
"Well?". Kenzi poked the wolf. Dyson threw his glass and broke it. "Yep, it's for Lauren". She looked into her drink and drank it.
"Why?! Why does she get everything and so easily!?". The wolf screamed.
"Calm down or get out of my bar!". Trick screamed over his shoulder.
"I don't want to be here, anyway". Dyson stomped out. Kenzi watched him go and shook her head. He's not going to last very long in this town. Bo runs this shit, now. "I know you and I both are at odds with Bo but hanging out with Dyson could cost you. He's almost gone mad at this point, Kenzi". Trick stood in front of the woman.
"I don't know about Bo. I haven't seen her or spoken to her. I'm just here like you, waiting". Kenzi shook her head.
"She cares, Kenzi. She just cares about Lauren a lot more. No Succubus has ever loved a human. Bo's more than loves her. She mated with her." Trick took Kenzi's empty plate and handed it off.
"I don't know what to do". Kenzi sighed.
"Just sit. Be still. Wait. I know those are all hard things to do but Bo is only focused on Lauren right now. She's getting her life in order.". Trick leaned back against the counter.
"Okay". Kenzi shrugged. She misses Bo. Trick is right. She needs to let the woman come to her or wait it out.
Lauren
The doctor was walking around their house when inspiration struck. She walked out to the backyard and surveyed the area. She picked a pot and smiled. "Since I have to wait to treat a patient, I will work with another form of science and nature". She bent down and played with the grass. "Vegetables."
Bo walked into the house and soon found the blonde. She stood in the kitchen and watched the blonde with a shovel. She could go out and help but she had already arrived too late to the party. When Lauren stopped and wiped her brow, the succubus poured her a cold drink and took it to her.
"I thought this would help". Bo spoke softly.
Lauren smiled. "Thank you".
"So, what do we have here?". Bo asked.
"I'm going to grow a vegetable garden. I need something to do since the clinic isn't ready yet". Lauren drank the entire glass.
"I can help". Bo looked around.
"Easy, Bo. I just started". Lauren laughed.
"Okay. Okay. Have you eaten, doctor?". Bo asked.
"I just woke up actually. Once I showered, I came into the kitchen and thought of this". Lauren set the shovel down and walked to the patio deck.
"Get showered again and we can go out for brunch". Bo looked at her watch. It was almost eleven.
"Yeah, that's a good idea". Lauren laughed as she wiped her face with her shirt and Bo's eyes went blue at the sight of her stomach. "You need to be fed too". The doctor laughed.
"Don't tease a succubus". Bo licked her lips.
Lauren laughed all the way into the house and into the shower. She hurried through. She was starving and thirsty. Bo walked into the house and turned back to the garden area. Lauren is going to have some delicious vegetables for them to eat. She will let the doctor cook because she's not as skilled as she is. But during other meals Bo will either try to cook or get a chef a few times a week.
"I'm ready". Lauren pulled Bo away from the window and they walked out of the house. The women found a nice restaurant with a private deck. Bo helped Lauren sit and took her own seat. The waiter had come and gone before Lauren spoke. "Bo, we can talk about it". Bo sat back and shook her head. "Tell me".
"She's my grandmother. I met her. I left her". Bo spoke softly.
"That was her choice, sweetie. She wanted to stay. She said her time is over and our time is now". Lauren reached over the table and squeezed Bo's hand.
"She's another succubus. One I could learn from. Could've learned from". Bo took the view in.
"Aife is here. She's your mother and a true blooded extension of your grandmother. She can be out there but she's a succubus. One you can trust and learn from. Given how powerful yours is, she might not have the full experience but she knows your father. She knows your entire bloodline". Lauren offered.
Bo's eyes turned back on Lauren and she watched the woman for a few seconds. "Thank you."
"You're welcome.". Lauren smiled.
"Mom is playing both sides of the fence. That could be dangerous, so I will need to keep my eyes on that too". Bo looked her menu over and finally settled on something.
"From what I know about the Morrigan. She doesn't like a lot of bullshit. If she trusts Aife at all, that's a plus for her". Lauren looked her menu over and picked something too.
Bo sat quietly as the blonde ordered her food and drank something. This world is still so new to her. Being in love. Being Fae. Being in love with a doctor. She smiled at the thought and frowned at it too. Lauren will have her own clinic soon. She will be busy. But they did agree not to overwork herself. That leaves Bo with a lot of free time too. She and Kenzi were just getting started out as friends and potential work partners. That led them to Dyson and eventually Lauren. That part of her world has to change too. She can't be taking cases for the wolf and not expect him to be an asshole or make some snide remark about Lauren. Her blood boiled thinking of all those years he must have gone to Lauren's lab and insulted her. All the Fae probably did that. That for sure, is over. She adjusted in her seat when their food arrived. "Oh my goodness, this is delicious". She moaned.
"So is mine!". Lauren smiled. Bo laughed when Lauren went into scientific detail on how it must have been cooked. After a few hours, they paid their bill and left the restaurant.
"Let's go shopping so I can get my garden started". Lauren suggested.
"Don't say another word". Bo sped down the street and pulled into the parking lot when Lauren picked a store. She pushed the shopping cart as Lauren gathered everything that she needed. Bo paid for everything and they packed the trunk. She gently unpacked the trunk and followed Lauren through the fence leading to the backyard. She threw the blanket down where Lauren wanted it and stood back as the Doctor knelt down and pointed to what she wanted done. Bo smiled and helped everywhere she needed her to. When they were done, Lauren stood and smiled.
"It looks great". Bo looked around.
"It will be." Lauren smiled and turned towards the house.
"I'm happy that you will be working soon. I'm just not sure what I will do. I don't want to fall into that routine of helping Dyson, getting stuck and coming to you". Bo frowned.
"Bo, you can work with Kenzi and come to me when you need help. I never said I wouldn't do that. As for Dyson, he's a detective for a reason, let him solve his own shit". Lauren shrugged.
"Damn, that is sexy, doctor". Bo pulled the woman to her and kissed her. She pulled back and smiled.
"Why don't we meet up with her? She really doesn't know me and I really don't know her from what I've seen before". Lauren suggested.
"We can do that but I must warn you, she can be a handful". Bo sat on the couch.
"So can I". Lauren took her own seat and kicked her shoes off. Bo reached down and grabbed the woman's feet and started massaging them. "That feels fantastic". Lauren closed her eyes and let the succubus work her magic.
"Why don't we meet with Kenzi now? I want to be up and running the same day that you start working". Bo looked at the blonde.
"Okay". Lauren pulled her shoes on again.
"No, Lauren. That is what computers are for. Let's find a room with white or dark walls. She might wig out and we don't want that energy in or around us." Bo put Lauren's shoes back exactly where they were. The women chose a guest bedroom since the walls weren't as full as the rest of the house, yet. As Bo expected Kenzi was lit up when she answered.
"Bo! Where have you been? Why haven't you called?". Kenzi rambled. She was on to her next question before Bo cut in. "I'm calling now, Kenzi".
"Where are you? Can I come over?". Kenzi asked.
"That depends". Bo sat back in her seat.
"It depends on what?". Kenzi asked.
"It depends on your discretion. But more importantly, it depends on how you talk to and treat Lauren. There will be no snide remarks. There will be no eye rolling. There will be no bringing Dyson around her or me either". Bo answered.
"You really are doing this aren't you, Bo? Changing everything for her?". Kenzi asked.
"Kenzi". Bo said coldly.
"I'm just asking. That wasn't an insult." Kenzi pulled away from the screen.
"It sounded like it. Look I won't waste another thirty seconds if you are going to do this. I thought. We thought you might be interested in continuing our partnership with the strong conditions that we don't go to Dyson with anything but we can come to Lauren when we get stumped on a case". Bo pulled Lauren into her arms and into view of Kenzi.
"Hello Kenzi." Lauren spoke.
"Hello Lauren". Kenzi rocked on her boot.
"We've all spoken. Now, is it a deal or not Kenzi?". Bo asked.
"I heard you're getting a new lab. How secure will this joint be and will we be safe taking our cases there?". Kenzi asked.
"Where did you hear that Kenzi?". Bo asked.
"About the lab? Trick was doing his best not to tell me directly. Dyson was there too. I think he was trying to be discreet but then Dyson jumped on the phone and confirmed it all". Kenzi took a seat.
Lauren broke into laughter. "Lauren?". Bo whispered.
"Of course, of course, they wouldn't keep this quiet. But I won't be pushed around. He won't get into my lab. I'm only treating the Fae that I can trust. I can't trust Dyson around the corner". Lauren turned to Bo.
"Top security, of course". Bo squeezed the woman in her arms. "Well, Kenzi?".
"Okay. Okay. It's a deal." Kenzi smiled.
"We'll meet in person soon. Don't tell anyone about this either". Bo hung up. Just like that. She had set something else in motion. "Are you sure you are okay with this, babe?".
"I'm fine with it, Bo. I really am. This will be my clinic. I have known the Fae here for years. Those that can't be trusted won't be treated. Which is why my staff will be small too". Lauren squeezed the woman.
Bo took one of Lauren's hands and kissed it. "I just want you to be happy and comfortable. Here and at work."
"I am and I will be". Lauren winked as she stood.
Bo stood. "As for Dyson knowing about your clinic, I don't like that".
"He's more bark than bite. With the Elders involved, anything he does will have consequences. He's an Elder's boy. He can't touch me and he knows it". Lauren smiled at the thought.
