Mars Bars
Lily could have any candy she wanted, and she wanted Mars Bars. But of course, as things seemed to always go like this for Lily, the lady with the trolley had never even heard of them.
Lily was very upset. How could this lady not know what Mars Bars were? Everyone else se knew did. Mars Bars were only the best candy in the whole world.
It all started when Lily got a letter, around when she turned eleven, telling her that she was a witch, and was invited to study witchcraft at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Lily's parents had given her lots of money in case she needed to buy anything during the school year and had told her that if someone on the train came around selling candy, she could use some of her money to buy any type of candy she wanted.
Lily had found out that, yes, someone did come around with candy, around noon, and had very soon decided what she wanted.
But when the trolley came around and Lily asked for Mars Bars, Lily felt as if the whole trip was now pointless. Lily, being particularly clever, guessed that wherever she was going probably wouldn't have Mars Bars, because they probably aren't a magical type of candy.
Lily felt like she was going to cry. She had her heart set on Mars Bars. She barely ever got them at home and here was her chance and they didn't even have them!
Lily went back into her compartment, trying not to cry.
Lily was just starting to actually cry when the compartment door opened and a girl that looked about her age walked in carrying a plastic bag filled with what looked like some kind of food or drink.
When the girl noticed that Lily was on the verge of sobbing, she dropped her bag and ran right over to Lily to comfort her.
Lily thanked the girl for her kindness, once she had calmed down, and asked the girl what her name was.
The girl told Lily that she was Emmeline and Lily told Emmeline that she was Lily.
They shook hands.
Then Emmeline asked Lily why she had been crying.
After Lily explained her story to Emmeline, staring with the fact that she was going to Hogwarts for her first time, that she was a muggleborn, Emmeline told Lily that it was also her first time and she was a half-blood, and that she had brought a whole bag of Mars Bars because her father had told her that the wizarding world did not eat the same types of candy that the muggle one did, so she had brought some Mars Bars because she thought that they were only the best candy in the whole world.
Lily was so glad to hear that that she ran over to the fallen bag of Mars Bars and grabbed one before she realized that she should ask first.
So Lily asked and Emmeline let her have a Mars Bar. And then with Mars Bars at hand, the two girls became fast friends.

And that was how Mars Bars began the close and wonderful friendship of Lily Evans and Emmeline Vance.
