Ch. 46

Naoki had never been as scared of his father as he was right now, but he through that he could also see some concern on his father's face. Taking a deep breath he took the guest chair in front of the long wooden desk.

"Yuki told you something, didn't he?" Naoki said just looking at his father.

"Well son I won't lie to you, I have had the feeling something has been going on for a long time between you and Sahoko," his father's tone only sounded in an all knowing sad tone. "So why don't you tell me what's wrong?"

Naoki just sighed as he sank in his chair trying to think were to start, 'Oh yeah it goes back to that wonderful stupid night.' For the first time in a long time Naoki's full mask slept off his face. "My wife has been cheating on me."

To say his father was shocked was the understatement. He had known smoothing was going on in his son's marriage, but this thought never came to his mind. "For how long?"

"Probably a little over two three years," Naoki stated rubbing his hands through his hair. "I won't give you all the details, but I hired a private detective to double make sure I was right. I wanted proof so that way I could have a clean divorce."

'So Yuki was right,' thought the older Irie. "When did you plan to go through it?"

Naoki gulped as he began to speak. "I was planning to do it three four months ago, but then…"

"Kotoko's husband died," finished Mr. Irie. Finally he was able to put together enough information to some of his son's actions. "But now that you have some things worked out with Kotoko you are thinking its okay to go ahead and divorce Sahoko?"

Naoki was now able to tell what information his brother had given their father. "Not nearly, there is something else going on, but I do plan to do it sometime in the near future."

"Son," Mr. Irie started to get serious all of a sudden.

"I know what you and Yuki are thinking, but I will not go after her, at least not yet," Naoki stopped his father's thoughts. "I know first-hand that Kotoko doesn't won't to start dating anytime soon, and that when she does she may not even choose me. However, when she is ready I want her to know that I want to be there for, that I want a second chance. I know what I am doing."

"But what if she doesn't choose you?" his father spoke out his thoughts, he really did not won't his oldest son alone. Naoki just smiled knowing the older man's thoughts.

"I will be okay with whatever she chooses, as long as I have my son and I can still be there for her I will be okay.

All of a sudden Naoki felt himself being wrapped up in the strong arms of his father, feeling how broken he had truly become. As his tears started to flow he let himself go, all the frustration he has been going through these past few years was finally being let out.

"Your brother had a feeling for a long time that something was going on, but he fears that you are being very rash right now," spoke Mr. Irie calming his son down as he sat in the chair right next to him.

"Actually," said Naoki as he started to calm down. "I'm not being rash as I have a feeling like my "wife" is planning something, and I think I know what it is."

"What is it?" his father's ears being much focused.

"I can't tell you, but I feel like I have all the cards in my bag," Naoki's confidence coming back. "I made sure to work everything out with Watanabe earlier today, actually for a long time now. Whatever she troughs at me I have a plan already set in motion.

"I hope your right son, I hope your right.
