Ch. 51

It was almost time for Kotoko and Naoki to get off work. They had been making their rounds when Nishigaki stopped in front of them with Ns. Kamogari. The later pair looked like they had a rough day compared to what they looked like this morning.

"What's wrong with you two?" asked Kotoko.

"About half of our patients were pretty difficult today," stated Ns. Kamogari. "One even asked me why I was doing a "woman's" job.

"That or they were asking for the two of you," quipped Dr. Nishigaki.

"What?" questioned Kotoko and Naoki.

"Apparently you two have somehow become the power team of the hospital," replied the older doctor. "One of the most handsome doctors with a cool expression, and is paired with sweet and cute nurse."

"Everyone says the way you two act with each other has brought a little light in our dreary world," commented Ns. Keita (a/n: going to use his first name for a while). "All the patients seem to like how you two react and work with each other.

"They have even have asked if you two are married," finished out Dr. Nishigaki with a smirk. "But of course we assured to all the single male patients that one of our top nurses is single, but is not dating right now."

"What about all those single ladies?" asked Kotoko with a raised, and an amusing smile playing on her face.

"That even though he is married, I'm still free," remarked the older doctor.

Kieta just twitched an eye after he said that. "Basically we had a hard day either to wanting you two, or the patients complaining about everything we did."

"Well it's only Monday, I'm sure the rest of the week won't be so bad, but our shift is done," said Naoki as he began to walk off.

"Why is he so eager to finally get off shift?" asked Dr. Nishigaki.

"He needs to get cleaned off before he goes to dinner with his wife," said Kotoko trying to sound normal. However, the doctor could see right through her.

"She must have gone on another "work" trip," stated Ns. Kieta.

"Kamogari, I have stated about that kind of talk," said Dr. Nishigaki looking serious for a moment. "I don't condone that kind of gossip from the nurses, even you."

Kotoko looked surprised as the other nurse apologized. "What are you talking about?" asked Kotoko.

Both men looked at each other not knowing what to say, but knowing the female nurse was close with the handsome young doctor it might not hurt to tell her. She could also probably clear some light for them.

Sighing Dr. Nishigaki told her the rumor that was going around. "There is a rumor going around that Dr. Irie's wife is cheating on him, and that he has been planning to divorce her. However, that rumor start about five, four months ago."

"What?" questioned Kotoko. "That's ridicules." After everything that had been going around that woman, there was no way something was going on; wasn't there? But than a thought came to her mind, "Wait did you say about five months ago?"

"Yes, but that is none of our business," stated the doctor. "However, outside of the hospital you can say something to him if you wish."

Keita just side glanced at that comment. Kotoko just looked unsure at that statement. True she was his friend outside of work, and he was the father to her son. Did she have a really have a right to ask about his private life. "I don't know?"

"Well, all that I ask is that you talk to him outside of work," and with that Dr. Nishigaki walked off as well.

"He might every now and then listen to the gossip that goes around, but if it is something serious like that he doesn't want us talking about," replied Kieta. "But he is right, it's none of our business, but for you it is different." And with he finally walked off as well.

Kotoko just stood there for a while. Had Sahoko really been cheating on Naoki, and she was how long had that been going on for. She shook her head at the thought, sure she had changed a bit, but cheating is something she couldn't see. But then again maybe she should talk to him about it.

"No matter what has happen to us, I should ask him, as a friend."
