This bonus chapter takes place before Kagome died. Before leaving Termina after her adventures with everyone, Emmett had gone against the Goddesses' will and allowed Kagome and Link to spend what little time they had left with each other. I hope you all enjoy this extra bit!
Snuggled beneath the stars of Termina, Link and Kagome couldn't be anymore content. A few days had passed since they last saw the others, and since, they wandered around the land.
The night was peaceful, and Kagome found herself resting her head upon Link's shoulder, absentmindedly touching his tunic. After everything they had gone through, Kagome never thought things would end up like this. She didn't regret her decision, not in the least.
While they rested together near the outskirts of Romani's Ranch, Link shifted his gaze to the woman beside him, cuddled up against him beneath the shelter of a large log. "Kagome,"
Opening her eyes, she looked at him, her smile warming his heart. "Yes Link?"
Although a little embarrassed to ask this, he sat up, urging a curious stare from Kagome. "It's just … well I know this chance will never come again … and,"
Kagome watched him scratch the back of his neck nervously. Judging by his actions, her heart pounded with anticipation.
"Kagome … will you marry me?"
Since their time was short, he knew he couldn't waste another moment. His thoughts of the woman in front of him were never-ending.
Elated by his question, Kagome didn't hesitate to throw her arms around his shoulders while screaming joyously. "Yes Link. Yes!" Besides Link, there was no other man she could see herself with.
Relieved by her answer, he held her closely, and before long, the two fell into a long slumber, holding each other's hands tightly. When the morning came, the two traveled to Clock Town. They knew a wedding wouldn't come cheap, even though Kagome insisted they marry on their own, Link on the other hand was adamant about spending his rupees for a lavish ceremony for Kagome. This was a once in a life time between them, and Link didn't want to waste that.
Upon arrival, they visited the Stock Pot Inn, and once entering through the door, they were immediately noticed by Anju and Kafei, both standing behind the desk romantically.
Pulling herself away from Kafei, blushing from embarrassment, she quickly waved them over while Kafei looked on smiling. "Kagome, Link! It's so good to see you!"
"It's good to see you both as well," Kagome replied until suddenly noticing something looked a little different with Kafei. On closer inspection, she realized he was much taller now, and his clothes fit him a lot better than before. "Oh! You've gotten older!"
Kafei nodded. "The curse has lifted, and it's all thanks to you and your friends."
Eventually, Anju guided the two into the living quarters of the Inn and the four of them sat down to catch up. Kagome and Link spoke about their adventures through the land, much Anju's eagerness.
As she sipped her tea, Anju couldn't help but almost drop her cup when she heard Link mention something about a wedding. "Oh my! You both wish to wed?" She couldn't help but immediately congratulate the two, her eyes sparkling. "When do you plan to wed?"
Grasping Kagome's hand from the couch, he gave his answer. "I was hoping by sunset."
Kagome blushed at his reply, also nodding in agreement.
At their shy expressions, Kafei only laughed. "I'd say it's a match given from the Heavens."
Anju stood up with her hands clasped before her. "If it's okay, could I help with the preparations? I have a friend that would be overjoyed to help, if you don't mind?"
Kagome grinned at this. "Really? That would be great. Thank you, Anju!"
Since Cremia and her sister, Romani, were also visiting the town on the same day, Anju quickly relayed the news to the girls. Cremia was quick to respond with a definite yes to assisting to the wedding, while Romani had walked off deeply bothered by the joyous news.
"I'm so happy for those two! I knew from the very beginning there was something going on between them," Cremia laughed. Those days back at the ranch, she had seen the young boy and girl walk off together, sitting beneath the stars one night as Inuyasha brooded on the roof of her house.
Anju nodded. "First things first, we must inform the Mayor." If anything such as a festival or wedding were to occur, it was mentioned to the Mayor before he could give an approval.
When ten o clock came by, the doors to the Mayor's office opened to the public, and not wasting any time, Anju and Cremia both walked in and were the first ones to see the Mayor. The mere mention of a wedding was enough to spark the Mayor's excitement and when he asked what day they hoped to wed, he was happy enough to allow the special occasion to fall on that very night.
With his permission acquired, Kafei, Anju and Cremia quickly separated the love birds, explaining that they would see each other at the ceremony. Link was handed off to Kafei just as Kagome was handed off to the girls for the entirety of the day.
Without Kagome's noticing, Anju made a quick visit to the Florist shop, where she was immediately greeted by a beautiful man with auburn curly hair, smiling at her in welcome. "Good morning Jo-Ho."
While watering some of the herbs off to the side of the main desk, he walked over, quickly offering a polite bow to Anju. "Anju, it's very nice to see you. What brings you here?"
Pushing herself up closer to the desk separating herself from Jo-Ho, Anju smiled gleefully. "Let's just say a wedding is about to take place this very night."
Not expecting this, he leaned in towards her curiously. "Really? Who is the lucky couple?"
"Do you happen to remember a group of foreigners who wandered into town some time back?"
Images of a certain young maiden with raven long hair entered his thoughts suddenly, and he quickly nodded. "Kagome … and her friends?" Her name was the only one he recalled.
"Well," Anju continued on. "Kagome was the only one that stayed behind after she and her friends saved the land. It seems she is getting married to Link tonight! You remember, the young boy I often talk about," She exclaimed excitedly.
Although a little disappointed by this bit of news, Jo-Ho couldn't help but smile despite. The news was indeed a cause for celebration, and he decided to bring the best bouquet for the bride by tonight. "What time does the wedding start?"
As Kafei and Link wandered around the town, the two attended a few shops, searching for a gift for the bride, but Link said he had only one gift in mind for her.
As they sat down for a sip of tea at a local cafe, Kafei leaned in towards Link at the table, curious about the gift. "What do you have in mind?"
Blushing, he pulled out a small sapphire rupee from his bag, showing it to Kafei, who took it befuddled. "Kagome's birthday is on September and her birthstone is the Sapphire," Link explained. "I plan to have this crafted into a ring."
Hearing this, Kafei's immediately smiled. "That's an excellent idea! I have honestly never heard of such a gift, especially for a bride." While it was unheard of for a groom to give the bride a gift, Link explained that it was completely normal in Kagome's land. "I'm sure Kagome will be delighted by your gift. If you like, we can stop by the Black Smith and have him fix up that ring for you."
From within Anju's bedroom, the three girls sorted through various dresses and jewelry. Cremia had brought a few of her own dresses from the ranch after making a quick return to the house to pick up some Milk for the Bar.
"Hm … how about my wedding gown?" Anju pointed at the white dress hanging upon the mannequin against the far corner of the room.
Cremia shook her head. "No we need something new and fresh, Anju." Pulling up one of her hand me down gowns left to her from her mother, Cremia held it up to Anju and Kagome. "What about this?"
The gown itself was a light pink in color with lace sleeves and flower patterns at the ends of the dress. Although it was old, it was still very cute, and Cremia thought it suited Kagome wonderfully. "Why not mix it up a bit? Let's add a little color to the wedding."
Anju mused. "I'm not sure. I would love to have a dress tailored for her, but that would take too long to fashion…"
While the two bickered excitedly, Kagome sat upon the bed, smiling as she sweat dropped. There was really no reason the two of them had to go way overboard with the clothing, but it was a wedding after all, she supposed.
While rolling by in her wheelchair, Granny couldn't help but notice the girls inside her daughter's room discussing which dress would suit Kagome more for the wedding, and the old lady couldn't help but chuckle. She wheeled herself into the room and began shaking her head in disappointment.
"Granny?" Anju blinked curiously.
"Surely you aren't going to dress that young one in those? Why those dresses don't suit her at all, and that one," She pointed her finger at Cremia's dress. "has a hole in it."
Cremia made a face. "Nothing I can't fix."
She laughed. "She needs something that accentuates her curves and shows those suckers off," She was referring to Kagome's breasts, which Kagome blushed at. "Come with me. I have the perfect dress."
As she led them down a ramp which led to the living area, she wheeled herself towards her room in the back of the Inn. Once inside, she had Kagome open the closet, and when she did, Kagome gasped. A beautiful and stunning strapless white gown greeted her, embroidered with lace around the midsection. It flowed from the waist outward. It was a beautiful dress and if Kagome didn't know any better, she would have thought it came from her own time.
"It's perfect!" The girls said at once. They never knew granny had such taste in fashion, but granny only flipped her grayed and thinned hair over her shoulder with a mocking expression.
"Of course Tortus. I was a fine young woman in my youthful days!"
As Kagome was led to the small bathroom in front of granny's room, she slipped the dress over her head and as she fussed with the corset like lacings in the back. A pair of white flat shoes, compliments of Anju were also given to Kagome, and although they were a bit snug, they fit the dress quite well.
Stepping out of the bathroom, Kagome couldn't help but pull at the top of her dress where her cleavage showed. It was a little embarrassing that so much skin was showing, and it didn't help matters that her chest felt a little cramped in such a small space.
"Look at you!" Cremia whistled.
Kagome continued fumbling with the top of the dress. "It's a little tight here…"
Granny laughed. "That's because your nickers are bigger than mine!"
As night fell upon them, the entire town was alit with colorful lanterns and flowers around the main square. Everyone was gathered to celebrate the couple who would be wed beneath the full moon. Gorons, Zoras and some Deku Scrubs, had journeyed far to celebrate the wedding of the heroes that saved Termina.
Cremia and her little sister Romani stood with all the other guests. Their hair was done up and they both wore identical flower patterned dresses. Even the carpenters had decided to watch the wedding, as well as the Mayor and his wife themselves.
Link waited by the bottom of the stairs near the Stock Pot Inn, dressed in a simple white tunic with his hair pulled out of his face and into a low pony tail. There were lace cuffs around his wrists, compliments of Kafei, who stood at the alter holding the ring upon a velvet cushion.
Soft music played within the square, and as they looked to the alter, they saw the young florist, Jo-Ho playing his flute with the Gorons beside him pounding their drums. The sound was just perfect and it alerted the beginnings of the ceremony.
As Link turned his gaze to the top of the stairs, his eyes widened when he caught sight of Kagome standing at the top with Anju right behind her. Kagome's hair was done up in a beautiful bun with strands of hair curled on either side of her face. White flowers were woven into her hair and her eyes sparkled at the sight of him. Even her makeup was done up perfectly, thanks to Cremia.
From the sidelines, Natalie, who was dressed in her red and black checkered dress which flowed just above the knees, smiled at the duo walking past. Her blue eyes were sparkling at the two, patting her older sister, Violet on the arm. "Look at how beautiful she is! Aren't you glad we came?"
Violet only shrugged but she couldn't help but allow a small smile to appear. "I suppose."
Although a little nervous, Kagome made her way slowly down the steps, her beautiful white gown flowing with each step. At the last step, she took Link's arm, and with an embarrassed smile, they both walked the path to the alter where Kafei and Jo-Ho were waiting.
As they walked by, Kagome recognized two familiar faces in the crowd. The familiar sight of a short man with a white cloth over his head, wearing a one-piece blue shirt and pants with a mustache and Goatee was Zubora. Right beside him was his brother Gabora, a tall and almost menacing individual wearing an iron mask. Unlike his brother who hadn't dressed up for the occasion, Gabora was properly dressed in a custom fitted tunic. Gabora was waving his hands frantically in front of him, obviously excited about the ceremony while his brother stood there smirking.
It had been so long since she had last seen many of the familiar faces in Termina, and to see them again, brought a joyous smile to Kagome's face. Still continuing down the aisle, Kagome couldn't help but hear sniffling from somewhere in the crowd, and when she noticed the ranch sisters up ahead, Kagome saw Romani silently crying beside her older sister.
Kagome leaned into Link with a flushed expression. "She is so happy for us…" It was moments like these Kagome wished her mom could see her.
Although he had heard Romani's crying, he couldn't help but sweat drop. She wasn't crying tears of joy, that much he knew, but he smiled at Kagome regardless and nodded.
Standing behind the alter granny greeted the two love birds, much to their amusement. Earlier that day, she had insisted on marrying them, explaining that no one could do it better than herself. At the sight of Kagome and Link, she nodded her head, approving the entire look.
"Miss. Kagome?" Jo-Ho called softly, holding out a beautiful bouquet of pink and white roses.
Surprised to see him, she offered him a kind smile and took the flowers from his offered hand. "Thank you, Jo-Ho. It's nice to see you again. I hope you have been well."
He offered a small bow to her, smiling ever so widely. Never before had he thought she could become even more beautiful. "I wish you and Link a long and healthy life together. May you always have beautiful moments."
Lowering her head to him as well, Kagome turned to face Granny, her arm still holding onto Link's.
The sermon was just like any sermon, however they involved a few extra lines of embarrassment for the duo, most of which left Kagome and Link laughing. Eventually Kafei extended the cushion to Link, and from there, he retrieved the sapphire ring before taking Kagome's hand.
Her face couldn't get any brighter, and as she allowed him to place the ring onto her ring finger, he suddenly leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was enough to urge the guests to holler out in joy. The kiss continued on, and as Link pulled her in closer, the kiss only deepened, and everyone clapped at the newlywed couple.
After tossing the bouquet into the crowd, Cremia had caught the flowers, and soon after, a large feast and refreshments was presented near the Milk Bar on an elongated and beautifully decorated table, compliments from the Mayor and his Wife.
Song and dance immediately filled the pleasant atmosphere, and Kagome and Link shared their first dance. Although it was a little embarrassing to dance in front of so many people, the two managed just fine, often distracted by each other to notice. Eventually after, some of the guests had walked up to the two, expressing their joy on such a wonderful day and blessing Kagome and Link.
A short distance away, Natalie couldn't help but grab a certain Zora's arm, tugging him along behind her towards the newly wed. Once before them, Natali quickly shook Kagome and Link's hands before clasping her own excitedly. "Congratulations you two! Remember me?" and at their surprised nods and smiles, Natalie went on. "Violet and I traveled a long way here to see the festival, but we never expected a wedding after!"
Kagome grinned. "Thank you for coming. It's been a while since we last saw you." When Kagome noticed a familiar Zora suddenly move beside the young short haired brunette, her eyes widened. "Kauji!"
The Zora smirked at her reaction. "We meet again Kagome. Seeing you after so long brings me great relief. After you and your friends left, it's been rather boring back home."
Although she wanted to give him a big hug, Kagome held back and offered a respectful bow to the aquatic being. "It has been so long. I must admit, kind of miss Great Bay."
As Natalie wrapped her arm around Kauji's arm, Link and Kagome suddenly noticed a romantic atmosphere hovering around the two. Although Natalie was a human and Kauji was a Zora, this was the first Link and Kagome had ever heard of such.
From their knowing glances, Natalie blushed. "We're engaged," She admitted before sticking her tongue out teasingly. "Kauji was out adventuring until he stumbled onto our porch step one day. From there, he and I just connected."
Kauji blushed and looked away.
"Oh! If you're wondering where Violet is, she is right over there," Natalie pointed a short distance away.
As the newly wed looked in the direction the younger sister pointed, Link and Kagome gasped at the sight of another familiar face. Violet was dancing with a man who looked scarily similar to Dark Link, however there was something different about him.
Natalie continued. "Violet met him a short while ago in the woods near our house. Apparently he lost his memories, but as you can see, he and my big sister have gotten pretty comfortable with each other."
"He looks … very familiar…" Kagome couldn't help but say out loud to which Natalie only grinned.
"You know Link, you guys both seem to favor each other in looks," The short haired girl replied. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were long lost twins or something."
From the short distance, the four watched as the man dipped Violet, her long and flowing ebony hair falling over her bare shoulders and her right leg, exposed by a slit in her long black dress, raised itself into the air for a short moment.
Kagome looked back at Natalie. "So he has no memories at all?"
She nodded. "He is living with us for the time being."
It was at this point Kauji pulled Natalie up against him, causing the young girl to blush. "Yeah, but not for long," He smirked, earning a confused look from his beloved beside him and a wide eyed stare from Link and Kagome in front of them.
Natalie gave Kauji a confused look. "Do you know something I don't?"
Coughing slightly out of embarrassment, he felt there wasn't any real reason to hide it any longer. Although he would have preferred a more private place to talk, this was also suitable. "How do you feel about a house floating on the water?"
"A house on the water?"
Kagome and Link shared a knowing look and smiled.
For a short moment, Natalie tilted her head to the side, bemused by his words. A house on the water? Just then it clicked. "Oh! Do you mean our very own house floating on the water?" She asked.
Kauji smirked and nodded.
Excited by this, Natalie threw her arms around Kauji's shoulders. "Oh darling!"
As Kagome and Link smiled at the two, watching as Kauji spun her around off her feet, the two slipped away to greet the other guests. They eventually caught up with Gabora and Zubora, the Black Smiths who had traveled from their home in the Northern Mountains near Snow Head. The two still bickered as always, but Link and Kagome were glad to see them again.
Separating into the crowd of people, many of who were still dancing to the beat of the drums and flute, Link couldn't help but search out the young man that resembled a certain nemesis of his. When he caught sight of him near the stairs leading South of Clock Town, Link approached him.
When he finally stood before him, realizing he wasn't with his dance partner Violet, Link couldn't help but stare at him with obvious confusion. He certainly looked like Dark Link, but he wasn't acting like him at all. In fact, he smiled at Link, extending his arm out in greeting.
"How do you do? I've heard a little about you. Link, I presume?" Dark Link replied. "Congratulations on your marriage."
Had he truly lost his memory? If so, how did it happen? Was it perhaps the Goddesses doing?
Dressed in a fitting maroon tunic and black fitted pants, Dark Link's hair was combined back, his bangs no longer falling over his scarlet eyes. Unlike the rough and calloused being he'd known before, this one seemed entirely opposite.
Link eventually gave in and shook his extended hand, nodding.
"This is very intriguing. It's as if I'm looking at myself in a mirror," He explained with fascination. "Could it be we have met before by chance? I was told by friend I favored a certain man by the name of Link, but I never realized our appearance as well as our names would match so similarly."
Whatever darkness surrounded him before was no longer visible to Link. Right now he seemed like just an ordinary man. It was peculiar, and Link preferred him this way better. "In some ways we are like brothers…"
When Dark Link seemed confused by his words, Link took him by the shoulders, easily turning him around and leading him towards the Milk Bar where the table of refreshments sat. "Although you lost your memories, I think it was for the best. You could say we had a falling out a long time ago and you eventually went in your own direction in life while I went in mine." Rather than come out and reveal his dastardly crimes in the past, Link felt it was better to simply say they were brothers and nothing more.
They eventually stopped and each grabbed a drink, before continuing their conversation. From the look on Dark Link's face, he was elated that he was indeed of relation to Link and humbly apologized for whatever had happened in the past between them.
"Although I can't recall what happened, I do feel as if I've been given a second chance," He grinned before patting Link's shoulder.
Violet eventually caught sight of the two and wandered over to the table, asking Loretta, the transvestite of Clock Town, for a drink. "I'll take a Sex on Great Bay!"
At her order, Link blushed and only shook his head sweat dropping. Dark Link on the other hand merely smirked at his woman. Every time he turned around, she was always drinking, fortunately she was capable of holding her own liquor.
"Is your sister still out there dancing with Kauji?" Dark Link asked.
Turning her head towards the two, she pointed directly behind her, and when the boys noticed Kauji carrying a dizzy woman upon his back, the faintness in her face.
"She'll be fine," Violet said before calling the Zora over to them. Looking back at Dark Link and Link, she grinned. "I see the two of you are getting along just fine."
Dark Link nodded. "It seems you and Natalie were correct. We are brothers after all." Who would have thought in this big world he would stumble upon him?
Now standing beside the older woman, Kauji flashed a smile at Link before adjusting his fiancé on his back as she softly slept. And for a while, they each conversed with the other, not knowing there was one more visitor who was watching them from the sidelines.
A couple hours went by, and eventually some of the guests had left to return to their homes for the night while only a small numbered remained behind. Many were still dancing and some had excused themselves to the Milk Bar for a long drink.
"So it seems they went above and beyond their relationship," A masculine voice exclaimed before bringing a cup of wine to his lips.
While Link was speaking with an older gentleman nearby, Kagome was approached by an elderly couple who wished her great blessings on the marriage. "Thank you." As she waved goodbye to them, she noticed a shadow on the pavement and realized someone was behind her. Turning around to greet that person, she faltered and stepped back in shock. "Emmett…"
Although he had become separated from Kagome, Link looked up from his greetings, noticing the person standing in front of his wife, and immediately ran to her side before standing in front of her, his eyes narrowing.
Emmett on the other hand merely continued smiling, his hands folded before him. "I told you we would meet again, but it seems I have arrived on a wondrous day of celebration."
Link never moved from his spot. He knew the peddler had come to take Kagome back with him, but he wouldn't have that. "Emmett…"
The priestess grabbed tightly to her husband's arm, leaning into him fearfully. Her eyes remained fixed on Emmett and she shook her head, refusing to go back. "We just got married. Please … don't do this."
He only laughed at her response before pulling something out from his coat pocket. What he pulled out was a small hour glass, which he handed to Link, who took it somewhat nervously. "Congratulations on your marriage. Since this is a joyous day between the two of you, I have decided to extend the time."
Kagome's eyes widened and her frown turned into a smile. "Really?"
He nodded. "One month. That's the longest I am able to extend it. It seems the Goddesses have allowed this one wish to be granted, so cherish the time you have left."
"Thank you, Emmett," Link replied, no longer glaring, but not smiling either.
With a final small bow, the Happy Mask Salesman walked away, smiling as he disappeared into the crowd. When he had heard about the wedding between the two, he had explained the news to the Goddesses who returned to watching over the land every so often. Although he was pushing his luck by asking for an extension for Kagome's stay in this world, they were surprisingly willing to allow it.
As Emmett enjoyed himself, feasting upon some of the food in the square while the happy couple talked with their friends, he couldn't help but laugh to himself. "I still can't believe this has actually happened. It still feels like a dream…"
Unbeknownst to him, a certain grayed haired old lady with a sharp nose wheeled right up next to him, watching him with great interest. "Hey there good looking."
The sound of an aged and flirty voice greeted his ears, and confused, he looked down beside him, noticing an aged woman in a spiked wheel chair, her wrinkly face staring at him with strange interest. "Hello madam…" He awkwardly replied back. Had she called him good looking?
However, she took his awkwardness as a sign of piqued interest. "How about you and me ditch this wedding and have a few drinks at the Bar?" She asked, and when he looked at her somewhat uncomfortable, she only licked her chapped and cracked lips, rolling her tongue on her yellowed teeth.
He stumbled back, hoping to put some distance between himself and the old lady, but to his dismay, he found himself backed into a corner of one of the shops. "I'm afraid I must decline…"
Unabashed by her behavior, she reached out and grabbed him by the collar of his coat, pulling him down at eye level with her, which caused him to gulp. "and afterwards we can have our own party. I'll show you a really good time, especially when I don't have my teeth in my mouth," She winked.
If he could transport away, he would, but with her grasp so tight upon him, she would only follow him. Emmett's eyes searched the crowd for assistance, but no one was paying attention to his dilemma. It was as if everyone was deliberately ignoring him out of fear of granny. Soon enough, he was dragged away towards the Stock Pot Inn by a relentless and strong old lady.
As the poor fellow was being dragged off, Loretta, looked on pitifully before folding his hands together and looking up at the Heavens. "Dear Goddess, have mercy on that poor soul … if not, then at least let him walk tomorrow morning."
As Anju awoke early in the morning before the guests, she stepped out into the lobby, preparing things for their arriving and departing guests, she suddenly heard a door open from the back room, and as she rounded the corner curiously, she saw a tall man with red messy hair step out from granny's room. The man's entire face was sunken and he had large dark bags under his eyes, but he paid no mind to Anju as he walked past her and exited the Stock Pot Inn.
From the window, Granny was seen stark naked within her room, clutching a scarlet, thin blanket around her body. A cigarette was held between her fingers while her teeth were sitting in a glass of Chateau Romani, soaking up the alcohol.
The morning came, and Kagome and Link awoke within the best room of the Stock Pot Inn. Although the room was expensive, Anju had given the room to them free of charge. It was the least they could do for all their help in Termina.
For the remainder of their stay in Termina, she decided to stay in Clock Town until the Hour Glass's last grain of sand fell.
