A/N - Yes, I have decided to upload a new chapter of this story! Been quite a while, huh? lol. Anyways, took me a while to work on this one and I blame my ADHD for it. I was barely able to focus at all, which was a real pain in the ass.

Anywho, I'm feeling rather tired and I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, so I'll just say this: Enjoy the chapter!

Chapter 4 – Arrogance

Anko and Shino watched the masked ninja cautiously for a moment, taking in her appearance and trying to get a feel for her character. This masked person was most definitely a woman, judging by the breasts this person was sporting. Anyways, the two of them had already determined that this woman was an accomplice of Zabuza for a few reasons, but they're not important at the moment.

When Kurenai and the others entered the clearing, surrounding Zabuza, the masked ninja tensed as if she was getting ready to interfere at any second. Smirking to herself, Anko thrust her hand forward and had her snakes wrap around the masked ninja, one of them biting her in the neck, injecting her with a paralytic venom. Oh, she wouldn't die, but she wouldn't be able to move for a while.

Moving next to the young woman, Anko reached down and removed her mask. "You're even prettier than I imagined." Anko commented with a shrug. "Suppose that's not important right now. What is important is the fact you're working with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Scary down there. We can't have you assisting him, so you're going to stay put right here and watch with us as they kill your little boyfriend down there. Sound good?"

Haku wanted to scream out in frustration and anger, but all she could do at the moment was glare hatefully at the Snake Mistress. When Anko turned her so she could watch the fight down below, her only thoughts were of Zabuza. She was begging him to stay safe…

Meanwhile, the other members of Team 8 stared coldly at Zabuza. They decided to ignore Kiba and Sasuke for the time being while Hinata went to help keep Tazuna safe from harm. Kurenai, Naruto, and Naruko were preparing to fight their muscular opponent. However, before they could even begin to go about rescuing Genma and potentially killing their opponent, Sasuke made his frustration at their sudden appearance known. "What the hell do you think you're doing here, loser? Take your little make-believe girlfriend and get lost. This is my fight and I was just about to win it before you interfered!"

Naruto and Naruko both sighed. Turning to face him, Naruko said, "Just shut up. You were not about to win the fight. For one, the fight between you two hadn't even started yet. Two, he's a skilled Jonin and you're a puny Genin. He would've mopped the floor with you. Three, you have a client to protect and picking a fight with Zabuza is the last thing you should be doing."

"If you're so concerned with the drunken fool, then why don't you guard him? I'm an Uchiha elite! There's better things I could be doing than wasting my time protecting some weak bridge builder. No, Zabuza is a worthy foe for me and I won't have you fools interfering!" Sasuke exclaimed angrily.

Naruto grumbled irritably before he stepped aside and motioned towards Zabuza. "Fine then, oh lordliness, go right on ahead. When he slices you in two, don't say we didn't warn you. Of course, you'll be dead, but the point still stands."

Kurenai frowned and shook her head. "No, Naruto-kun, even if we don't like him, we can't just send a fellow Konoha shinobi to his death. Sasuke, as your superior, I order you to return to Tazuna's side and keep him safe. Once the three of us free Genma, we'll finish things. If you disobey my orders…"

Sasuke scoffed and ignored her warning. "A woman has no place lecturing me. Let me show you what a man can do, you worthless peon." he said as he approached Zabuza, an arrogant smirk on his face. However, before he could get far, he felt something prick the back of his neck. Unable to move, he collapsed in a heap on the ground, wondering just what the hell happened to him.

Naruko sighed and fetched Sasuke, dragging him back to Tazuna and the others, making sure to drag his face through the dirt in the process. Afterwards, she removed the senbon she had struck him with and patted him on the back of the head. "Be a good boy and stay. Let the big boys and girls handle this."

When Naruko returned to their side a moment later, Naruto frowned at her and asked, "Did you really have to remove the senbon? You know he'll just get back up again soon and try to do something in retaliation."

Naruko simply shrugged and turned her attention to Zabuza. "We'll have already dealt with this by the time he can move again."

"Heh, tough talk for a little girl. You and your brother there look like puny little weaklings to me. But you're more than welcome to try me." Zabuza said with a grin forming on his face.

Naruto smirked at Zabuza and said, "Who's to say we haven't already made our move? Personally, I think you're a pretty lame villain, Zabuza-san. You're just too easy."

Zabuza frowned in confusion before he felt three sharp somethings pierce him from behind. He winced when he felt these objects pierce certain vital organs, causing him to gurgle and choke on his own blood as it tried to expel itself from his mouth. Collapsing to his knees, he glanced over his shoulder to see the two blondes and their Jonin sensei standing there, kunais in hand. Mere moments later, Zabuza passed away without a word being spoken.

Naruto smirked at Kurenai and said, "That was quite the genjutsu, Kurenai-sensei. I didn't think he'd fall for it so easily, but he was a bit overconfident, so…"

Kurenai giggled a bit as she helped Genma to his feet. "It's easy to manipulate someone's senses like that when they aren't expecting it. And what better way to fool an enemy than to fool your allies first? Your use of Shadow Clones played a key role as well, so don't sell yourselves short. You both did wonderfully." Naruto and Naruko blushed a bit, but smiled in thanks.

A few moments later, Anko and Shino rejoined them with the fake hunter nin. Their captive was glaring daggers at them with tears streaming down her cheeks. Seeing this, Naruto frowned and looked her in the eyes sadly. "He was dear to you, wasn't he? I'm sorry. We only did what we had to to protect our client and our comrades. If you want, we'll help you give him a proper burial. But in exchange, you have to lead us to Gato's base of operations so we can end his life and free the Land of Waves. Do we have a deal?"

For a moment, everyone was quiet as they waited for Haku to speak. When she could speak again, she glared into Naruto's eyes and asked, "Why should I help you? You took Zabuza-sama from me! My purpose…my purpose is GONE!"

Anko blinked a couple of times before asking, "The hell? What do you mean your purpose is gone?"

Haku glared up at her before returning her gaze to Naruto. "My reason for living…Zabuza-sama was the only reason I bothered to continue living! He…he took me in. Raised me as his own. I was to be his tool. I vowed to protect him, and I've failed. So tell me, why should I help you? Just kill me and be done with it."

Naruko scowled and slapped Haku hard. "Don't talk like that! I don't know what you've been through, but if Naruto-kun can find a reason to keep living after all the hell he's been through back home, you can find another reason to keep on living too goddammit! If Zabuza cared so much about you, do you think he'd want you to just roll over and die? Or do you think he'd want you to find another reason to continue living and carry on his legacy?! From the sounds of it, he genuinely loved you as he would his own family."

Haku glared into her eyes and asked, "What the hell could you possibly know about my pain?! My father…my father killed my mom and tried to kill me simply because we're 'different'! Don't…!"

Everything went quiet again when Naruko gave Haku another good slap, this one stinging worse than the previous one. "We've suffered too. I shouldn't be saying this in front of these people, but dammit, you need to understand that you're not the only one who has suffered! Our father sealed the Kyuubi no Yoko within Naruto-kun on the night of his birth. Ever since then, Naruto-kun's suffered alone. Nobody gave a damn about him, and the people wanted to rid the village of the 'demon' in any way they could. Can you imagine the kind of hell they put him through?! And…"

Naruto placed a hand on Naruko's shoulder and shook his head at her. "Not here. Not in front of them." He said as he motioned towards Sasuke, Genma, and Kiba, who was now being patched up by Hinata.

Naruko scowled before turning her attention back to Haku. "Live on in Zabuza's memory. He wouldn't want you to just throw your life away. I promise we'll give him a proper burial, and we won't try to cash in on his bounty. Your father deserves at least that much respect."

"If you won't do it, then I will!" Sasuke declared as he approached Zabuza's body. "Even if I wasn't the one who killed him, if I cash in on his bounty…"

Kurenai blocked Sasuke's path and glared down at him. "There are some things you ought to respect, Uchiha. Let go of your ego for one second and show some compassion. It can't be that hard."

"Compassion is for the weak and foolish. Now move, woman." Sasuke demanded.

Anko snarled and appeared behind Sasuke, pressing a kunai to his throat and saying, "Treat Kure-chan like that again and you'll see what happens runt. You won't lay a finger on Zabuza's body. Nor will you take credit for a kill that wasn't yours. No, you're going to be a good little princess and behave."

Naruko grumbled before looking into Haku's eyes. "I'm sorry about him. Not everyone from our village is like us, I'm afraid. Princess, over there, has been spoiled rotten and has it in his head that he's above everyone else, probably even the Hokage. Kiba, the guy Hinata's patching up, thinks with his penis and not his head. They're both egotistical pricks, in other words."

Haku sighed as she looked at Zabuza. "I'll lead you to Gato. If you truly intend to save the Land of Waves and you swear to keep your word to me…I'll help you kill that pig. But what do I do afterwards…?"

Sakura stepped up to them at this point and said, "Come with us back to Konoha. You'd at least have a home and I'm sure you could find happiness there. More than that, if you're truly lost without a purpose, then maybe you can find a new purpose in Konoha?"

Before Haku could respond, Naruto smiled down at her as he said, "Sakura's right. I have room in my home if you want to move in there. It's safe too. Nobody can get in without my permission. It would at least be a safe home for you until you find a place of your own. Or you could just keep living with me, either choice is fine. But really, the choice is yours. I just hope you can find your new purpose for living. I…understand suffering, more than you could probably imagine. I'll help you however I can."

Haku looked between Naruto and Naruko and slowly sat up as the paralytic venom started to wear off. "What are your names? I am Haku."

Naruko offered her a smile and said, "I'm Naruko Uzumaki and this is Naruto Uzumaki. We're technically siblings, but…"

Haku seemed to get the underlying message and simply smiled at them for a time. After a short while, she closed her eyes and released a heavy sigh. Nodding her head once, as if she had come to a decision, she bowed to the two of them and said, "Then I vow to serve you, Naruto-sama and Naruko-sama. You will be my new precious people."

Everyone blinked in shock at that before Naruto managed to stammer out, "C-Come again? Precious people? H-Huh?"

The Ice Mistress smiled at him and said, "When you have someone or something precious to protect, that's when you become truly strong. That is my belief. For me, that person was Zabuza-sama. Now, it will be you and Naruko-sama. That is my purpose."

"I see. I think I get it." Naruko said before smiling at the girl that was a few years older than they were. "Then Haku-chan, you will be our precious person as well. From now on, we'll keep you safe. Nobody will ever hurt you again."

Naruto smiled and nodded his head. "Yes. You, and our other precious people. But…"

Naruko, seeing where her boyfriend was going with his line of thought, nodded in agreement with him. Leaning in close to Haku, she whispered, "The Hokage cannot be trusted. He will try to give into the council's wishes and may very well try to give you to Sasuke-teme for breeding purposes. Mom will handle it, I promise, but do not trust the Hokage."

Haku frowned in confusion for a moment before she slowly nodded her head in understanding. "A leader that cannot be trusted. I hadn't expected such a thing. But I understand. I will be cautious."

While Naruko and Haku talked, Naruto walked up to Sakura and looked her over for a moment. "Are you okay? You aren't hurt anywhere, are you Sakura?"

The pinkette frowned a little at the lack of the -chan suffix, finding herself missing it for some reason. Shaking it off, she smiled at Naruto and said, "I'm all right, Naruto. Thank you. But…"

"But what?" Naruto asked, worried that something might be wrong after all. He may not have a crush on her any longer, but she wasn't a bad person. He was genuinely concerned for her well-being.

Sakura hesitated for a few brief moments, unsure if she should ask or not. Sighing softly, she looked into his eyes and asked, "Why aren't you calling me Sakura-chan anymore?"

Naruto frowned at her and said, "You made it kind of obvious you wanted nothing to do with me, Sakura. You treated me like garbage all because you wanted to please your 'Sasuke-kun'. Don't tell me that's changed?"

The emerald-eyed girl hung her head and said, "I see. For what it's worth, I'm sorry, Naruto. I should have been far more considerate of your feelings. And…I'm sorry I didn't treat Naruko like her own person. I'm sorry for a lot of things. I…I want to be friends. After taking the time to really think on it, I realized a few things. Sasuke isn't the golden boy I thought he was. He's just a jerk that doesn't treat anyone with any level of respect. But you? You're a kindhearted person that was only ever trying to cheer me up and make me feel special. I…I miss you calling me Sakura-chan. I just…"

The blue-eyed teen sighed and said, "Sakura…you hurt me. But…I understand. And thanks. But, at the same time, I don't know if I can forgive you so easily. I'd like to be friends too, but how am I to know you won't just try to hurt me again?"

Sakura frowned in thought for a moment before coming to a decision. "If that's the case, then why don't I just become your girlfriend?" Leaning in close, she whispered in his ear, "I could even start calling you Naruto-sama while I pleasure you. How would you like that?"

Naruto blushed so badly that it felt like his mind was going to blow. Before he could say anything, Sakura kissed him hungrily on the lips and proceeded to grab his butt, giving it a good squeeze. When they parted, the pinkette made a show of licking her lips seductively. Leaning in close again, she nipped at his ear and said, "I'm yours, Naruto-sama." And with that, Naruto fainted, unable to handle the shock of what just happened.

Naruko stared with wide eyes, unable to believe what had just happened. She tried to speak, but found it damn near impossible to do so. What the hell just happened?!

Hinata, meanwhile, walked up to Sakura and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and brought her face close to hers. "What the hell do you think you're doing with our man?" she asked dangerously.

Sakura simply smiled and said, "Showing him that I'm willing to give myself to him if that's what it takes to earn his trust again. I think I'll start calling him Naruto-sama more often. Sounds…kinky."

Hinata blushed a deep shade of red at that and let Sakura go. "Naruto-sama does sound kinky…" Hinata muttered, giggling pervertedly afterwards.

Kurenai facepalmed, unable to take it any longer. "Just what the hell is going on?"

Anko laughed and said, "Damn girlie! I like you! Welcome to the party!" Walking up to Sakura, the sexy Snake Mistress wrapped an arm around her and said, "We're gonna get along juuust fine, I'm sure."

Seeing that they were all distracted, Sasuke smirked and approached Zabuza's body once more. When he took out a kunai and prepared to sever the man's head, Genma gripped him hard on the shoulder and threw him away. "You were warned, Sasuke. That's two strikes against you. Try anything a third time and you'll see what I do to you. Unlike the Hokage, I WON'T tolerate your crap. The only reason I agreed to take you three on this mission was to try and knock some goddamn sense into you and Kiba. But I see now that was a foolish endeavor." Turning around, he sealed Zabuza's body in a scroll for safekeeping, making sure to keep his senses open should Sasuke try anything else.

Sasuke rose to his feet and snarled at his sensei. Suddenly, as if inspiration struck him, he glanced at Haku and said, "Fine then. If you won't let me have the credit for his kill, then perhaps I'll just have to take his bitch for myself."

Haku and the other women glared hatefully at Sasuke at this point, barely able to grasp what the hell he just had the gall to say. "I would NEVER let you touch me, you rotten little boy!" Haku exclaimed furiously. "Besides that, I have pledged myself to Naruto-sama and Naruko-sama."

Before Sasuke could say anything in protest to this statement, Genma appeared behind him and chopped him in the back of the neck, knocking him unconscious. Sighing heavily, Team 7's sensei shook his head in disappointment. "The worst part about this is he'll just get away with this behavior. Hokage-sama won't do anything to correct it. Knowing Sasuke, he'll take this matter before the councils and demand that Haku be given to him as recompense for crimes committed against him during this mission. Naruto, Naruko, you're going to need to make it clear to everyone that Haku is now a vassal of the Uzumaki clan and therefore cannot be touched. Clan affairs and all that. Even they aren't stupid enough to interfere in that case." Looking at Haku, Genma frowned in thought for a moment before he asked, "You have sworn to serve them, correct? Will you choose to live with them as well? It would probably be safest for you if you do."

Haku nodded in affirmation. "Yes, I plan to live with them. Just why has the Hokage allowed things to get to this point? What is he thinking?"

Anko sighed and shook her head as she looked at Haku. "Because he lacks a spine. The councils took it from him ages ago." she said somewhat sarcastically, but mostly seriously.

Sakura sighed and said, "I'd like to refute that, but after what I've seen, what she says is true. He's willing to bend over backwards to please Sasuke and seems afraid to go against the councils in any way."

Kurenai sighed as she looked at her team. After a moment, she looked towards Kiba, who was sitting up now with Akamaru barking at his side. "Enough. All of you. The Hokage's failings aside, we do still have a mission to complete. Genma, Hokage-sama said you're in charge, so what are your orders?"

The senbon-chewing Jonin frowned as he looked over his team. "Team 7 will continue to guard Tazuna-san. Team 8, I want you to follow Haku to Gato's lair and kill him and all his goons. Seal up everything of value and search for anything else he may be hiding. Return all the money and women he's stolen away to the people of the Land of Waves. In short: it's an assassination and recovery mission. Liquidize his assets and make him suffer. Got it?"

Naruto slowly sat up, looking up at Genma. "Yeah, no problem. At least not for us. My question is: what will you do about Sasuke? When he learns that you've sent our team after Gato, you know how he'll react."

Genma sighed and shook his head sadly. "He won't find out until it's too late for him to do anything. And Kiba, don't you go getting any ideas." He said, glaring at the Inuzuka. "You're injured, so despite how you may feel about it, you're stuck on bedrest and light guard duty."

Kiba wanted to protest, but a bark from Akamaru stopped him. Petting his dog, he said, "Okay boy. Fine Genma-sensei, I'll rest. I don't like this, but I'll follow orders."

"Good. I'll carry Sasuke. Let's get going." Genma said as he and the others started following Tazuna to his house.

As they walked, Naruto and Naruko sidled up alongside Sakura. Looking at her, Naruto asked, "Were you being serious when you said all that? I'm kind of shocked you'd be so bold…"

Sakura smirked at Naruto and leaned in close, licking his cheek before winking at him. "What do you think, Naruto-sama?"

When Naruto simply blushed deeply again, Naruko sighed and asked, "You do realize he's in a relationship with more than one woman, don't you? Aren't you a little put off by the idea of having to share him?"

The emerald-eyed girl shook her head and smirked at the both of them. "I don't care. Naruto-sama's a nice guy, and I'm sure he's a beast in the sack too. Sounds like it could make for a kinky time."

Naruto couldn't help it as he practically shrank in on himself, blushing furiously at what was happening. Seeing this, Sakura wrapped an arm around his shoulders and hugged him close as they walked. "Don't worry Naruto-sama, I think you'll get used to this pretty quickly." Leaning in close, she whispered, "And I think you're going to enjoy when I ride you later and scream your name." When Naruto simply blushed worse and hurried off ahead, Sakura giggled to herself before looking at Naruko. "Teasing him's kind of fun."

Naruko sighed and shook her head in mild exasperation. "You've changed Sakura-chan. It's refreshing to see."

Sakura smirked and said, "Well, I've stopped dieting, I've been taking my training seriously, and I'd like to think I'm making some progress. I've also been given time to really think about things. I have to say, despite his eccentricities, Naruto-sama's quite the catch."

"You really insist on calling him Naruto-sama? You're not his slave or anything." Naruko questioned.

"Just imagine how it'll sound in the bedroom." Sakura said simply before she walked on ahead to catch up to Naruto. She wanted to 'play' a bit more.

Naruko chuckled and shook her head in mild disbelief. "The way things change…"

Tazuna's House

Upon arriving at Tazuna's house, he threw open the door and went to announce his presence, only to receive a solid whack to his face with a frying pan. When he collapsed unconscious to the ground, Naruto and the others looked at the woman standing there with the improvised weapon. "Um, ma'am? Is there some reason you chose to knock out who I can only assume to be your father?" Genma asked, sounding somewhat amused.

Seeing what she had done, Tsunami dropped her frying pan, watching as it nailed her father in the nuts on its way down, and kneeled down to check on him. "Oh no! Father! I'm so sorry! One of the villagers warned Inari and me that a large group was headed towards our house! I only assumed…! Oh dear."

Naruto winced in pity for poor Tazuna. Sure, it was funny as hell, but the blow to the nuts was just adding insult to injury at this point. Naruko didn't have any reservations though as she burst out laughing at what had just transpired.

Genma sighed and looked at Naruto. "Can you help him to the couch so he can lie down?"

Naruto nodded and proceeded to carry Tazuna to the nearest couch and laid the old drunkard down upon it. Shaking his head at the state their client was in, he couldn't help but be thankful that it wasn't him that Tsunami had nailed.

As everyone took positions either on the furniture or standing around, Genma decided to get things started. "Team 8, after dinner, I want you to set out with Haku to put down Gato and his goons. Use the darkness as cover to sneak in close and begin your assault. No hesitation. No reckless actions." Looking at the Genin of Team 8, he said seriously, "Put aside your emotions until after your job is done. Once everyone's dead and the mission is complete, then you can break down if you need to. These will be your first kills, and the first time is ALWAYS the hardest. This mission can either make or break you, and I personally hope it's the former. Good luck out there."

Hinata looked worried as she truly began to think about what this new mission would entail. She had never killed anyone before and she worried that she might not be the same after doing this. Looking up at Kurenai, who she viewed as an older sister of sorts, Hinata wanted to ask if she really had to go through with this. However, when she opened her mouth, she closed it an instant later and said, "I'm ready. I can do this."

Kurenai smiled at Hinata and gently ran her fingers through the younger woman's hair. "I know you can Hinata. I also trust that this mission won't change you."

The Hyuga teen smiled and leaned against her sensei, loving the warm feeling she got from being near her. Meanwhile, Genma looked to Sakura and said, "As much as I'm sure you'd like to go with them, I need you here with me. You're the only one among the three of you on my team that I trust to help me protect Tazuna from harm."

The pinkette nodded in understanding. "Of course Genma-sensei. I'm not too worried about it." she said with a casual shrug of her shoulders. "Buuut…" Looking at Naruto, she kissed him again and whispered, "I wouldn't mind a little fun time when you get back."

Naruto blushed fiercely as he looked her in the eyes. "We're not…"

"Even dating yet?" Sakura mirrored, grinning at him. "Details, details, Naruto-sama. I know you want me." she teased.

The blonde palmed his face and chuckled mirthlessly. "My life was never meant to be a normal one, I swear. Can't say I'm complaining though."

Sakura grinned more and took his hand, placing it on her butt. "This is yours. All of me is now yours Naruto-sama. I just ask that you treat me right."

Naruto blushed worse, but he still found it in himself to massage her butt a bit, eliciting a low moan from the pink-haired cutie. He had to admit, he liked this side of Sakura and was definitely willing to take it a bit further. However, Tsunami walked into the room with a sweet smile on her face and said, "Now, now, I won't be having any of that happening in my house while my child is here. Is that understood?"

The two of them nodded frantically while Naruto removed his hand from Sakura's wonderful posterior. "Y-Yes, ma'am! Understood!" they exclaimed in a panic.

"Very good." Tsunami said with a bright smile on her face. "Now, food is ready, so I expect you all to eat up and be good."

"Thank you very much ma'am." Genma said as he sat down beside Kiba. "And before you question it, Sasuke's just going to be sleeping off his headache. He was complaining about it earlier and I recommended that he just get some rest. So if you would like to prepare something for him to eat later, I'm sure he would appreciate it. Hopefully."

Sakura deadpanned at him and said, "Sasuke? Thankful? Knowing him, he'd say something arrogant again and upset our gracious hosts."

Genma sighed and shook his head in mild exasperation. "I was trying to be nice about it, Sakura. But you're right." he said. "Oh well, I suppose. If need be, I'll deliver the food to him so he won't lash out at Tsunami-san."

Tsunami was about to ask when her father sat down at the table and shook his head. "Best not to ask, sweetheart. Also, why the hell'd you have to go and smack me with a blasted frying pan? Do you have any idea how much that hurt? And then you go and drop the frying pan there of all places. If I was a younger man, I'd say you were trying to ensure I couldn't knock some poor woman up. Cruel and unusual punishment, I tell ya."

The blue-haired woman simply smiled sweetly at her father before producing the frying pan from out of nowhere and patting it with her free hand. "Oh Dad, are you saying you want me to hit you again? Because if you don't stop complaining right this instant, I'm going to hit you. Again and again. Possibly even give you a concussion. Now wouldn't that be fun?"

Tazuna opened his mouth to say something, but when he saw the evil glint in his daughter's eyes, he wisely shut his mouth and proceeded to start eating. No point in pissing his daughter off any more than he already had.

"Naruto, honey, I don't think Tsunami-san's mad at you, like you're thinking." Kushina's voice could be heard saying inside her son's head. "Personally, as a fellow woman, I think she's just sexually frustrated. I don't think she's had a man so much as touch her in yeaaaars. So try to be a little more considerate of her feelings before you do anything like that with Sakura, okay? Or any of the others for that matter."
