Drawing in the Park
By
Ragemoon
Zuko looked over the park near him he could hear children laughing and playing. He watched the children play games in front of him. He brooded and wondered if he was ever that care free. Hiding behind his dark sunglasses that just hid the huge scar on his face his eyes watch the kids running full tilt in front of him. He has to smile a little for their innocence was amusing and beautiful. 'I wish I could be innocent once more. But that's stripped from me forever.' He sighed.
He keeps scanning the park then realizes that no one was coming to join him. He shook his head picking up his drawing pad he begins to draw. He takes the people from his memory and draws them in fantastic situations. He smiles as his drawing of Katara as a water goddess comes to light. "Not too bad." He smiles as he accidentally speaks aloud.
"What's not too bad?" a familiar voice speaks up suddenly making Zuko look up from his drawing pad. His eyes alight on who he was waiting for, Katara. He blushes suddenly as she smiles at him taking a seat next to him on the bench. She sees what he has been drawing. "Wow, you're not that bad are you?"
"It's something I picked up while living with my Uncle Iroh." Zuko smiled. "He lives out in the country and I needed things to do so he taught me how to draw."
Katara smiled then punched him in the shoulder. "I wrote you everyday for a two years Zuko. Why didn't you write me back?" She looked at him she was still trying to figure him out. He managed to confuse her still even after all these years.
Zuko smiled. "I have all your letters. I even read them." He paused. "I just was not ready to talk to anyone yet. It took me almost six months till I talked to my uncle. I just don't know why I did not write. I wanted to call but then I did not want to know how everyone else was doing." He sighed not wanting to admit how much he wanted to hear her voice to see her even though he felt less then human for the first three years after his burning.
Katara looked at him. "I'm glad we are going to the same collage." She looks at him. "How is your uncle?"
"He is great, normally." Zuko smiled looking at her. "You're late."
She laughed and blushed. "Yeah I am."
Zuko stands up after putting away the drawing pad in his massager bag. He looks at her holding out his hand, "Come on, I need a latte." He pulled her up and smiled a little pulling her into his arms and hugging her he then kissed her soundly. "Don't be late next time." He led a speechless Katara to the coffee shop for tea and lattes.
