Albus wasn't a great cook. Ariana never properly learned, and no one trusted her due to her outbursts. Aberforth was the best cook among his siblings, but Albus didn't feel like putting all the responsibility on his younger brother.
Bathilda Bagshot, ever the kind woman, would insist on making diner for the Dumbledors at least once a week. Albus was nervous putting the kind woman at risk due to his sister, but the woman was persistent. Also as soon as Gellert moved in, Albus couldn't say 'no' to him.
One day, after dinner, everyone was gathered in the drawing room, having a nice chat.
"I don't see why you can't just change the rules from within." Bathilda told the boys.
"Dear Aunt, I'm sure you know how corrupt the Ministry is." Gellert replied with a level of sweetness and demeaning.
"It's filled with lobbyists and greedy rich bigots who won't hesitate to put those in power under their thumb." Albus added.
"The only way to uncorrupt it is to take it over and start from scratch." Gellert added, "Something drastic needs to happen in order for the Ministry to work for the Greater Good."
"And what could be more drastic than a takeover?" Albus added.
Bathilda sighed. "You have a point."
Gellert smiled. Albus leaned into his boyfriend of about a month.
"So how will you divide the Hallows?" Aberforth asked.
"Well the Cloak can be shared, and the Stone might be big enough for both of us to hold." Gellert answered.
"And we made our own Elder Wand." Albus said, patting his pocket.
"Really?" Bathilda, Aberforth and Ariana asked in shock.
"It took a couple tries, but we managed to get it right." Albus answered.
"It helped that we're both powerful wizards." Gellert added.
"More powerful than the Peverell Brothers!" Albus exclaimed.
Bathilda chuckled, "Well you two certainly are the best of the century."
"And no one can match us." Albus boldly exclaimed.
"Except each other." Gellert added, "But that won't happen."
Ariana grew uncomfortable. She and Aberforth didn't like Gellert, there was something about him that they didn't like. He seemed to be simply using their brother, which they didn't like. But he made their brother happy, and that what was important. Besides, there was nothing too alarming about their behavior.
"Why would it?" Albus stated in agreement.
"Just saying." Gellert replied with a shrug. He then looked straight into Albus's eyes and with a sweet and gentle tone softly said, "Although I could never go up against you."
"Neither could I." Albus softly replied. Then they softly kissed each other.
When it was time for bed, Gellert replenished the experimental enchantment he had put on Ariana. Gellert was fascinated by obscurials and the obscuruses they harbored. Of course, Gellert used obscurials to help his argument for wizard domination. Why should wizards and witches be forced to hide and suppress their gifts? Also, what happened to poor Ariana shouldn't happen to anyone. Albus was desperate to cure his sister, so he allowed his beloved to experiment on her. Albus wanted to ease her pain and stop her outbursts, while Gellert wanted to harness her power. Aberforth didn't approve, but he did want her to feel better.
