Albus Dumbledore couldn't sleep. It had been weeks since he had defeated Gellert Grindlewald in their famous duel, and all he could think about was him. He was imprisoned in his castle, and alone.

Albus tossed and turned. Eventually, he got up. He was going to get a sleeping potion, but instead he grabbed his wand and broom. Soon he found himself in Gellert's cell. He wanted to leave, but couldn't.

"Fancy seeing you here." A familiar voice said.

"I didn't mean to be." Albus quietly said.

"You know," Gellert said as he moved to a comfortable sitting position, "you're the only one who isn't a guard or inspector that's bothered to contact me."

"Really?"

"Yes." Gellert sadly sighed. "It appears the revolution's died."

"Or it's become more peaceful."

"I suppose." Gellert took a long pause. "Care to sit?"

Albus felt awkward. He wanted to, but also didn't. Eventually, he found himself sitting near his ex.

"Trouble sleeping?" Gellert asked.

Albus wanted to answer truthfully, but was worried what Gellert would do. "A little."

"If it were a little, you wouldn't have come here."

Albus raised an eyebrow. "What -"

"I know you."

Albus sighed. He felt ashamed. He had told him everything about him, now he was using it against him.

"We were young." Gellert assured, "The young are too naive to know any better, and the old are too set in their ways to learn anything new."

"I suppose." Albus was feeling uncomfortable.

There was an awkward silence that fell between them that the blonde man eventually broke. "Look, I've seen the future. There's no way I'm gonna escape."

"You sure?"

"Sadly." There was a pause before Gellert continued, "During my previous imprisonments, one of my followers would've contacted me within the first week or two. And so far, no one has."

"Surely someone must've."

Gellert shook his head. "I fear everyone's been taken care of. If I leave too soon, it will be suspicious and I'll likely be recaptured again, if too late, then no one will listen and I might be punished worse. Besides, where will I go?"

Albus desperately wanted to say his house, but he couldn't. He wouldn't make that mistake again.

"Anyway, soon a wizard darker than I shall rise. He will gather his followers through fear and hatred. He will be defeated and return, but unlike me, he will regather his group."

"Why?"

"Fear." Gellert paused with a smirk before continuing, "Fear is powerful, but love is stronger. That's one of the major differences between us. He can't understand love, but I can. He only knows fear, and uses it as his main weapon. I don't agree with that, and try to use love."

"Is that why you went after me?"

"I never meant for things to go as far as they did. I needed you. You're the only one more powerful than I. You could've helped us so much. You would've made us unstoppable."

"I told you I don't agree with all-out war!" Albus all but shouted. He quieted himself slightly before continuing, "Your motives, I agree with, but not your methods. The youth are more accepting than the old. If they are correctly molded, then when they take over, things will be better than they were before."

"But that takes too long," Gellert countered, "I told you that."

"While you were seducing me."

"True." Gellert replied, then he put a finger to his chin in thought, "But I did tell you."

Albus wanted to leave. But his body wouldn't let him.

"Albus," Gellert said in a comforting tone, "I know our past is difficult, but I still think we can be of use -"

"I've moved on in case you're wondering." Albus quickly said. He had a feeling of where Gellert was going, or maybe he was just fearful of a regress.

"Really?"

"Y-yes."

Gellert took a moment to think. "Elphias Doge?"

Albus felt heat rise in his face. "Sorta."

Gellert knew how close the two men were. Albus told him all about his dear Doge, his closest friend. During their schooling years, Albus and Elphias were roommates and would sometimes share a bed. Some might call them passionate or romantic friends.

There was another silence. Neither man knew exactly what to say. Eventually Gellert asked, "How many seers do you know?"

Albus was taken aback slightly, but answered, "Not many."

"Well, since I'm stuck here, I was thinking that in exchange for your companionship, I'll tell you all about my visions. Certainly you will want to know more about your student Tom Riddle. I believe he's graduating this year."

"I've been suspicious of him." Albus admitted.

"As you should be." Gellert replied, "He's a monster. He's arrogant and merciless. I hate killing and torturing, always have, you know this, but not he. He loves it."

Albus nodded. He knew Tom had a dark side, and should never be put in a position of power, but he still hoped to see good in him, no matter how futile that might be.

"The visions I've had, they show him recruiting mostly through fear, instead of solely people's own free will like me. He will change his name, and become a darker wizard than I. The things he will do, even I deem too dark."

Albus was intrigued. Tom was graduating that year, and the vibe he gave off, it made the graying auburn cringe. He did want to know more, wanted to be prepared, and maybe spare the boy from wickedness.

"Do we have a deal?" Gellert asked.

Albus dared to look at him. He knew the information was vital, but he didn't want to risk regressing. He had already been manipulated by Gellert before. But he was younger then, now he was wiser. Besides, it would only be visits.

"As conflicted as I am," Albus sighed, "deal."

Gellert smiled.

"But I won't come everyday, I have a life."

"I know. Just regular visits is all I ask."

Albus sighed, then laid down to sleep. "Please stay on your side."

"Only if you stay on yours." Gellert promised.
