Straight Edge Sister
Pharya held up the camera as she sat in the makeup chair on her phone.
Instagram LIVE on her screen as the comments pulled in.
The stylist behind fixing her hair.
Rebecca slid in behind over her shoulder making Pharya laugh.
"Someone asked if we are going to have a match Becky?" Pharya points out one.
"When, Ellie, stops being a punk." Rebecca nods, she nudged Pharya. "No pun intended."
Pharya head snaps to her friend.
A laugh from Ashley and Mercedes down the row.
"Get away from me." Pharya points.
"Okay, okay!" Rebecca jumps away. "You should appreciate good humor."
"No, I put up with your dad jokes the whole car ride yesterday. I will not be harassed at work." Pharya says. "So stay away."
The stylist, Janie looks up. "What was the joke?"
"Even I'm curious." Ashley giggles.
Mercedes bounces her leg. "Right?"
"Please get uncurious." Pharya begs. "She doesn't know how to stop."
"Ignore her," Rebecca waves Pharya off. "Okay, okay. Why did the iPhone need glasses?"
All the women look around, except for Pharya who was already face palmed.
Ashley shrugs. "Why?"
"Because...he lost all of his contacts!" Rebecca claps, in her laugh.
The women chuckle.
"Hold on, wait, wait."
"God." Pharya groans.
"Hush!" Rebecca tells her. "Okay. What did 50 Cent do when he was hungry?"
Mercedes lips lift in amusement. "What?"
"58." Rebecca says to Mercedes and Ashley laughter. "Phar, you get it? Fifty—ate!"
"Please stop." Pharya begs.
Rebecca laughs. "My jokes are golden."
"Not at two in the morning!"
"There's always jealousy." Rebecca sighs.
"Oh please." Pharya rolls her eyes.
"Ladies!" Xavier walks over.
Colby walked with him. "What's up, how is everyone over here?"
"Well, Rebecca is torturing Pharya." Ashley points.
"Sounds about normal." Colby nods.
"Do not make this normal." Pharya points.
Xavier looks between them. "Why is she being tortured?"
"Tell him," Pharya motions to the men.
"Okay, wait I got one." Rebecca holds up her hand. "I've been saving it."
Pharya shakes her head. "No, no, no, I meant-"
"I already decided to tell it!" Rebecca calls out. Pharya throws up a hand. "Okay, Colby." She clears her throat. "What did the janitor say when he jumped out of the closet?"
Colby thinks. "Uhhhh. You know, I-I'm not sure."
"Me either," Xavier says.
Rebecca jumps. "Supplies!"
Making everyone laugh. Pharya watches Rebecca crack up as she had to use her chair for support.
"G-Get it, because." Rebecca stops when she sees Pharya blank look. "Alright! I'll stop."
"Thank you," Pharya nods.
"It was funny to me." Colby shrugs.
Rebecca opens her mouth. "I-"
"No." Pharya points.
"Fine." Rebecca groans.
Colby walks behind the chair, waving to Pharya's camera.
"What are you doing back there?" Pharya asks him, an amused smile on her lips when she felt her hair being touched from the opposite side. "Are you doing my hair?"
"Yeah, I got this." Colby picks up the curlers. "These are to straighten right?"
"No," Janie snickers. "Those are for curling."
"Oh my God." Pharya grew nervous.
"This is a weird looking thing for curling." Colby frowns at it, he looks to Pharya. "You just relax over there. I know what I'm doing." Colby tells her.
"I don't believe you!" Pharya argues. "Janie promise me right now you will take it away if you think he is burning my hair."
"Okay." She laughs.
"Lopez, got this." Xavier cheers him on.
"Wait, I wanna see." Mercedes jogs over.
Rebecca points. "Give her a bald spot."
"What?!" Pharya snaps.
"Jokes, jokes." Rebecca pats her shoulder.
Colby lets it go showing the bounce
"Ohhh!" Everyone behind Pharya reacts.
Pharya laughs. "Oh my gosh."
"Nice!" Colby fives Xavier. "I got skills. I will officially be putting in my part time card back here for stylist."
The women laugh.
"Thank you, thank you." Colby hands Janie back the curlers. "Here you go. You won't be as good as me, but try."
"Will do." She nods.
Pharya shakes her head.
Mercedes low fives him. "Remind me to call Lopez for my next appointment."
"I'm not cheap." He points. Mercedes laughs going to her chair. "Woods is going to be my shampoo guy."
"I do great co-washes." He nods.
Pharya eyes fall into amused slits at the two men.
"What would you two call it?" Rebecca asks, leaning on the table.
"Umm," Xavier looks at Colby. "I'm not sure."
Colby slaps his chest. "Lo&Avier."
"I like that! I like that!" Xavier nods.
Rebecca hums. "Catchy."
"The fact you two have this picked out is terrifying." Pharya says.
Colby chuckles. "I wanted to let you know that I got a meeting to go to, so I'll meet you at catering later. I got our sheet for this week so we can go over it."
"I will see you there, sir."
"Alright," Colby looks to everyone else and waves. "Thank you for letting me show off my skills. Ladies."
"And Banks." Xavier adds on.
Mercedes holds out her hands with a dropped jaw.
The girls laugh.
"Aht, uh, because what did I do?" Mercedes asks.
"I think it's because your hair is purple." Pharya points.
"Ha!" Ashley laughs.
"Shut up, Pharya." Mercedes scoffs.
Rebecca laughs and low fives a snickering Pharya.
Later...
Pharya had stopped at the table with Renee and Jon in the catering area.
"I like you hair for tonight, Pharya." Renee points.
"Thank you," Pharya moves a curl.
Twisted back in a few rows, her curls hung down her back as one braided strand had a yellow band braided inside.
Jon eats;pointing to, Pharya. "She's giving biker chick. You still have an obsession with leather."
"A healthy one." Pharya points back.
Leather black pants with a pair of black heel boots. The fitted Seth Rollins tank made into a crop top. Her heart choker and wrist bands on.
"I like it." Renee nods.
"See." Pharya motions to her. "Hype me up like Renee."
"How long have you known me?" Jon head tilts.
"Point taken." Pharya nods. "I forgot. Unless it's violence I can count you out."
"Yes." Jon nods.
Renee chuckles. "You are evil." Jon holds out his hands, confused.
Pharya picks up her plate and drink. "I'm leaving."
"Don't rip the leather when you sit down." Jon calls out.
He laughs when Pharya simply help up a middle finger in her walk.
"Love you to Brooks!"
Pharya waves at the table with The Bellas and a few of the other girls.
Spotting, Joe and Colby.
Colby waved her down to the table.
"Rebecca will be here in a minute, she's waiting for pineapple juice." Pharya says. Colby stops in the midst of pulling out the chair next to him. "I-I don't know. Don't ask me."
Colby hand goes up in defense and continues to pull out the chair.
Pharya giggles at his reaction, she nods to Joe. "Hello to you, Reigns."
"What's up Pharya, how have you been?"
"Eh." Pharya sat down. "I'm sore in new places that I didn't think was possible."
"So, normal?" Joe nods, the two of them share a laugh.
"Your guy tell you he's a hair stylist now?" Pharya jerks her thumb.
Joe laughs, lowering his drink. "I'm sorry. What?"
"You see her hair?" Colby nods his head to it."
Joe eyes widened. "You did that?" He points across to Pharya.
"I-" Colby shakes his head. "Well no, I did one of the curls though."
Joe's shock dropped. "Really man?"
Pharya shakes her head. "He's really proud of it."
"Yes, I am proud." Colby defends. "Did you not see the bounce, and the volume on that curl."
Joe laughs at him, dropping his head with a shake.
Pharya looks at Colby crazy. "Okay, I'm going to figure out how you know more about the 'volume' part another day." Colby chuckles. "However, now all of a sudden. He thinks he has a career in this."
"Don't be a hater, Pharya." Rebecca sits down, she sends a nod to the men.
"She's being real negative right now." Colby agrees.
Pharya eyes widened. "Me? Your turning Smackdown into Hairspray."
"Whoa, whoa, what's wrong with Hairspray?" Joe gets involved.
"Yeah." Rebecca asks. "I like that movie."
"I feel like we are missing my point here." Pharya sips her water.
Joe smiles, he looks at Colby. "Oh, Irin, invited us down tomorrow morning. For the Cross Fit center."
"Nice." Colby claps.
Joe nods to the girls. "What are you two up to tomorrow? We got two spots open. Claudio is coming with us."
"Swiss Superman?" Pharya looks up.
"Yeah," Colby chuckles. "The owner said he wanted us to come down and visit the next time we were in town. What do you say?"
Pharya looks to Rebecca who nods.
"Were in." Pharya says. "I'm not CrossFit Jesus here but,"
Colby eyes roll. "Haha." Pharya giggles offering her hand in peace but he slaps it away to her laugh. "You are wrong for that."
"You can't stay mad at me. I'm your ring partner."
"She's got a point." Joe nods.
Colby looks at him. "Don't get in between our arguments. The ones she mostly starts."
Pharya jaw drops. "I don't!"
"At least we know on-screen is only half acting between you two." Rebecca motions between them.
"She starts it." Colby pushed her away from leaning on him.
"Don't treat me like this, Lopez. What if I support your new career?"
"Too late." He denies.
"Wow."
Rebecca and Joe laugh at the two of them.
After catering, Colby walked with Pharya going over their things for the night.
"I can't wait to start doing things with the guys." Pharya looks over her paper. "Paul says its coming."
"Hey, baby steps." Colby nudged her.
"This is true." Pharya sighs, she nods her head with a smile. "Who knows though. Maybe we might have a match down the line."
Colby smirks. "I'd bet money on that."
"Yeah?" Pharya smiles.
"We fought once in ROH."
"You mean you tripped me?" Pharya brow raises.
"For the last time woman," Colby looks to the ceiling. "I didn't mean it."
"Right." Pharya nods. "If you hate me, Colby. Just say that."
"Oh for the love of," He throws up a hand. "Now you know I would not hurt you."
"You sure?"
"Positive." Colby nods. "Unless your being Ellie at the moment. Might have to give you a few shakes."
Pharya shrugs. "Knowing my character, I probably deserved it."
His phone goes off, Colby takes it out his pocket and sees the name.
With a sigh he shoves it back inside.
"You don't want to get that?" Pharya asks.
"Kind of could do without an argument before I go out there tonight."
Pharya noticed the trouble written over his face. "You want to talk about it?"
"Nah, it's just stupid things." Colby shakes his head. "I'm pretty sure you got more things to do then hear about my nonsense, Phar."
Pharya pulls a smile. "If I did, Lopez. I wouldn't have asked you. Also the worse thing you could do is have things on your mind while your out there. And you have a match on top of that. So spit it out, come on." Her arms fold, he sighs. "We aren't leaving this spot until you do."
"Really, Pharya." Colby shakes his head. "It's nothing." Her brow raises higher, not phased and still waiting for an answer. "It's stupid."
"Then say it, what's the problem?"
Colby eyes fall to the floor before looking back at her. "You are. Kind of the problem."
Pharya blinks in shock. "Okay. Didn't see that one coming. Why me?"
"I don't know." Colby shakes his head. "She called me yesterday about it after RAW. Wondered if this would be a long on-screen thing and why it had to be you, just asking me questions I didn't have the answer to." He rubs his temples. "I told her it's not that big of deal but of course my words traveled out her ear."
"I get it." Pharya nods.
"Come on, don't you start."
"I'm serious, I do get why she is upset." Pharya admits. "If it was me and the roles were reversed. I'd be upset."
"It wouldn't be." Colby tells her.
"Why not?" Pharya brows pull.
Apart of him wanted to tell her that she would be the only one who he agreed to be this close with inside the ring. Being attached to someone professionally is a big deal but he knew how great she was back then and even now. You would be an idiot not to have someone like Pharya on your side in the ring. She had been the perfect partner and he wasn't going to get rid of her. That wasn't an option for him.
"I just know it wouldn't." Colby tells her. "Listen, don't worry about it. I will handle that. You are fine." Pharya looks down until he gets her attention. "Hey," her eyes wander up. "we are fine. Okay? That's all you need to worry about."
"Is there something I should do different?" Pharya asks him. "I don't want to be the reason you two are having problems. You've been through enough of that, and I don't want people to think you're fooling around with me and have them look at you weird again."
"All this, and you're worried about me?"
Pharya averts her eyes for a moment, she nods to herself and looks back at him.
"Yeah. I am."
Colby smiles a slight scoff. "If anything I am worried about you." Pharya brow pulls. "Being associated with me already comes with those whispers. Still, I don't ever want to hear anybody think of you in that way. Your not that girl, you never where. So as much as I appreciate you caring. I can handle people back here. I'm always going to be more worried about you then me. If that makes sense?"
Pharya stares at him. "...Yeah, it makes sense. But I can protect myself when it comes to that."
"I know you can, Phar." He nods. "I know. Doesn't mean I'm going to let you do it by yourself though." Pharya smiles. "Look we know what we have here, right?" Pharya wanted to ask him but instead just nods. "So unless I say it's a problem and you say it is. Nothing changes, okay? We are still friends and we got a story to finish together. Okay?"
"Okay, Lopez."
They shake hands, Colby pulled her in a side hug making her laugh as they walked down the corridor.
"Thank you, for wanting to look out for me." Colby nods, looking down at her. "Not many do."
"Your welcome." Pharya holds onto his waist. "Thanks for caring about me to."
"Always did, Phar."
Colby kept her close and he would always do so.
That one promise that he knew she forgot but he never did.
Maybe it was just one of those random thoughts but he kept her words in the back of his memory.
He always would...
Flashback...
Laughing at the party with everyone, Colby sat with his table close by the TV's.
Everyone had decided to meet up at the bar spot not to far. ROH had a successful big night event with a collaboration of other wrestling promotions.
"Oh, look." Kevin points to the group with commotion.
Hearing a few shouts, one of the girls stormed out of the bar upset.
"Celebration didn't last long." Kevin laughs.
"Right?" Colby scoffs.
A ring on his side made him groan. "One night." He sees his mothers name. "Guys. I'll be right back."
"Take your time." Kevin waves off.
Walking towards the exit, he bumps into someone.
"My bad,"
"Don't worry about it." Ross steps back , he double takes. "Tyler Black. What's up man?"
A forced smile. "Hey, I didn't know you were here tonight."
"Just for support." He nods. "Somewhat support." He tossed a heated glare to the door.
Colby caught a glimpse of this. "But great match you had out there. You and Jon."
"Thanks." Colby nods slow. "He should be around here somewhere. You came to support Pharya?"
"Yeah, but I'm on her list as of right now." Ross scoffs. "So I don't know where she went."
"Did she drink?" Colby asks the obvious question.
He shrugs. "I don't know, man. Pharya is a grown girl but she probably caught a cab back. I'm giving her the space she just shouted in my face for. Embarrassing me like that in front of people. Woman got freaking issues."
Colby brow raised at him but only shakes his head. "Well I have a phone call to get to. So excuse me."
"Don't let me keep you."
Colby went outside, going through his phone to call his mother back.
He stops in his tracks when he heard crying and turned his head down to the source.
The girl on the bench, fumbling with her purse as she goes through it in a frantic.
Hitting the end button-Colby walks over.
"Excuse me?"
Pharya slammed the purse down. "What?" Looking up, tears stain her face with a bit of her makeup. When she saw who it was her gaze softened. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. I'm-"
"No, no, you're fine." Colby shakes his head. "You okay?"
"I left my damn phone back at the hotel and I didn't drive here, Ross drove." Pharya sniffles up her tears. "I just want to go back to the damn hotel. My night was fine and then he-" Frustrated she drops a few things. "Shit." She cursed. Colby helps her. "Thanks. You don't have to be out here with me." He hands her the small mirror she had. "I'm really sorry,"
Colby head tilts. "What are you apologizing for?"
"I..." Pharya looks at him. "I don't know, um..."
Colby looks her eyes over. "It's okay," He brushed her tears away. "Just relax and breathe for a moment." Pharya breathes but it was shaky. "There you go." Colby nod, pushing her hair back from her face. Holding onto her hand, he felt her shaking and gave it a squeeze. "Your okay, Pharya."
The way she looked at him so terrified. He didn't know what their fight was about but the fact Ross didn't even attempt to check on her like this, it angered him. Of course she could defend herself but Pharya is still a small girl, who had been drinking and halfway into a panic. Something people see as an easy target.
Pharya sighs more steady this time to his liking.
"Thank you,"
"No problem." Colby head jerks to the bar. "How much did you have to drink in there?"
"Not even sure about that." Pharya throws up a lazy hand. "Can I borrow your phone?"
"Yeah." He hands it to her.
Pharya looks at their hands, she slowly lets it slip from his own-an empty feeling inside when she did so. She pulls herself up to sit on the bench. Her fingers tremble as she dials a number that she knew would never let her hear the end of it.
Putting it to her ear, she prayed the person she needed to would answer.
Colby stands up, he hears pieces of her conversation but was sure to give some space.
After a minute, Pharya stood up.
"Here you go," She holds out his phone. "Thank you, Colby."
"No problem." He shakes his head. "Do you need a ride?"
"Mines is coming." Pharya sits down. "Not proud to be," A sigh. "but they are."
"I'll sit with you."
Pharya head tilts, trying to give her best smile. "You don't have to do that. There is a party going on."
"You are a little more important than that party. Especially being like this."
Pharya shakes her head. "I was having a good night until he came down." She plops down.
"You didn't invite him?" Colby sits next to her.
Pharya scoffs. "No. Though what I say never matters to him anyway. So I stopped speaking about it."
"You know that isn't healthy?"
Pharya head rest on her closed fist, propped up on the back of the bench.
"Yeah? What do you know about healthy relationships?" An honest question.
"Just don't think they should be like whatever you two got."
"Point." Pharya agrees.
Colby takes the few napkins out his pocket. "Ever a good time then any to take napkins. Here you go."
Pharya takes them. "Thank you,"
"No problem." He says, he watched Pharya hold her head and lean over. "You feel sick?"
"No, um-just light headed." She sighs.
Colby rested a hand on her back. "You sure that's it?"
"Yeah." Pharya holds her head. "It'll pass. I get them all the time when I drink, just not this soon."
Almost tilting over, Colby lifted her back up.
"I got you." Colby tells her. The upper body of Pharya practically resting in his lap as she tried to ease her pain. He leans over. "You okay?"
"Yeah. Your actually comfortable." Pharya says.
Colby chuckles. "Thank you,"
"Your welcome." Pharya smiles, dropping her hands from her head-she continued to lay in his lap. "You are right though."
"About?"
"Me and Ross not being healthy." Pharya sniffles her tears away.
"Why do you stay then? You don't have to put up with that, you know."
Pharya eyes lower. "It's not that easy to just leave like people think it is..."
Colby gives her shoulder a gentle squeeze.
"I think I get it."
No judgement, not telling her what she needed to hear. It was simply him, understanding.
"Most people don't." Pharya mumbles.
"I still think you deserve to be happy." He tells her. "Maybe one day you will realize that to."
"Happiness doesn't really last long for me, Colby."
"Your not around a good person for it to be, Pharya." He says. Silence from her made him shake his head. "But again, that's just my opinion."
"Your opinions got a strange way of you being right." Pharya mumbles.
Colby chuckles. "I try to be."
Pharya scoffs. "Wish I would have met you before, Ross."
Colby brow raised. "Yeah? Even with me being arrogant, Tyler."
Pharya giggles under her breath. "Even with that." Her eyes saddened. "I'm too damaged right now to be with anyone to be honest."
"You're not damaged." Colby tells her. "We all got our problems, sweetheart. Doesn't mean your not worth better." He looks down.
"Are you better?"
"Possibly." Colby nods. "But I'm not perfect, either. Only one way to ever figure that out." He jokes.
Pharya rest her hand on his leg, eyes going low. "I'll wait for our day then..."
Colby hears this and looks back down, a little shocked of her answer. "...So will I, Phar"
A smile pulls on her lips as he hears a low chuckle escape her.
Sitting with her in silence, he watched her breathing slow and become more fluent.
Peeking down, he could see she fell asleep for a moment.
A car pulled up not to far from them.
Getting out, Devitt closed the car door.
"Pharya!"
Colby raises his hand. "Down here."
Devitt stops from going to the bar and makes his way down to them. "Hell. She alright?"
"Fine, she just fell asleep." Colby waves it off, he nods to him. "Good to see you though."
Devitt scoffs. "Wish it was for better reasons, yeah?" He stoops down, giving her a gentle shake. "Pharya, hey." Devitt eyes softened when she finally opened her tired ones to stare back at him. "Come on, lets get you back. We got to get your things and leave, we have a flight in the morning for Japan, anyway."
Colby watched the concern written over Devitt's face for her. He wondered exactly how deep did this situation between the two of them and Ross really went.
"Devitt," Pharya recognizes him.
"Yeah," He smiles a bit. "Come on."
Helping her up to her feet, Colby gives him a hand.
Devitt held her up and holds her arm around his shoulders, with one arm snaked tight around her waist.
Pharya walks with him, she abruptly stops her heels. "Oh wait!" She lets go of Devitt to walk back, Colby caught her in the slight trip up. Hugging him tight, she buried her face in his arm. "Thank you," Pharya blinks her tears away. "I mean it."
"Anytime." Colby rubs her back. "Take care of yourself, Pharya."
"I'll try." A giggle from her, she smiles up at him. "Bye, Colby."
Pharya pulls away from him, he lets her hand go and he didn't know if she felt it but an emptiness started to settle when she left him.
Devitt nods to him. "Thank you."
"Don't worry about it." Colby waves it off.
Devitt helps Pharya to the car and gets her inside.
Colby watched her lean against the window, her eyes find his and she tries her best to smile at him. A tired wave from her.
All he could do is give her a smile and wave as the car pulled off.
That one day. He could have told her everything and wish he did.
His last night before going to FCW, and he had the opportunity to tell one girl everything he wanted to. They wouldn't see each other again for a very long time and the hurt started to settle in more.
Though he doubted she would remember anything about this day. But he would.
He always would even if she didn't.
'I'll wait for our day...'
