Author's note: A couple of things I forgot to mention is how Nathalie was able to handle herself against a group of transformed miraculous users. Well, that actually happened in the show though I don't remember what episode, and I figured this does fit Nathalie, considering what she is she would be able to do that.

Chapter 31
(THIS IS NOT A) SWAN SONG PART 1
Mister Bug tied Nathalie up and was ready to head off when he noticed a picture of himself with his family. He remembered when he saw a picture of himself with Nathalie on her laptop as a wallpaper. He took a glance at the unconscious Nathalie over his shoulder again and couldn't help but feel sorry for her. He gave a slight sniff and he wiped his nose with his finger.
"Mister Bug!" Ryuko called. "We must make haste!"
"Oh, right."
Meanwhile…
Rocket lifted the largest piece of rubble he could muster as he tried to free the people below, only to see that she was too late. He sighed and looked away and pushed the rubble off.
"Any luck in your end?" he asked everyone with his wrist communicator.
"Not much aside from the people who have succumbed to the plague," Pegasus said slowly.
"Nothing here either," Future Queen Bee said.
"I got bupkis," Carapace said. He and Rena were at the bridge over the river where they usually hang out with Adrien and Marinette.
"This can't be right," Rena said, stroking her chin. "We're supposed to see *gulp* bodies, yet we can't find anything at all."
"Could they have evacuated?"
"How could they leave so quickly, I mean, there are usually not boats in this part of the river as the nearest pier is almost 6 kilometers away," she calculated.
"Hey look over there," Carapace pointed to where there was a yacht in the distance approaching the area. They saw someone taking the wheel at the top and wave.
"Hey, need help?"
"Luka?" Rena recognized.
"Oh, I thought I left people behind," he said.
"Hey, dude," Carapace greeted. "Wait, did you rescued the people here?"
"We knew there would be people helpless here and us back at the pier knew the fastest way to get them out was by boat.
"You alone?" Carapace asked.
"Need the space," Luka confirmed.
"Hey, is Juleka all right?" Rena asked.
"Yeah, she's comforting Rose back at the pier with my mom. Her folks didn't make it," he lamented. Rena and Carapace froze in place.
"Rose…" Rena moaned.
"It's amazing how quickly that stuff does you in," Luka pondered.
There was a sudden vibration that shook all three kids and Luka had to maintain more due to being on a yacht.
"What was that?" Carapace and Rena said as both communicators rang.
"Guys, we got trouble!" Rocket shouted.
"Look!" Luka yelled, pointing at the source. All three teenagers' jaws dropped at what they saw.
"Cthulu?" Luka asked.
"Ca-what?" Rena asked.
"Read some classic horror way back when."
"Is that another sentimonster?" Carapace asked. "Already?"
"This isn't good," Rena said. "Luka take us to the pier, we need to take the people to a safe space, stat!"
"Hey Pegasus," Carapace called. "Get Mister Bug we need to look for that amok thing, now!"
"I am already on it!" Pegasus asked. "He's already fabricating the next COA as we speak!"
"It's gonna be tricky," Mister Bug stepped in. "For starters, I have no idea what may be his amok or where it is."
"Do you know where it is, 'future me?'" Present Queen Bee asked, an eyebrow raised and her hands on her hips.
"I… I don't remember…"
"How can you forget something like that?" present Queen Bee asked. "Are you really me or not?"
"Gimme a break, not everyone is stuck in an interdimensional island for 500 years!" she retorted. Everyone stared at her, their jaws dropped.
"Wait what?" Carapace asked.
"Uhhhh…" Future Queen Bee meandered. "Could you pretend I didn't say that?"
"Wait you just expect us to forget that?" Rena inquired. However, there was another violent vibration before the conversation could go any further.
The creature emerged from the cities and it was astonishingly large in size. Almost everyone was disturbed by the monster's imposing appearance while Mister Bug had recognized it from the illustrated novels he read in his lonely childhood. They all saw it was Cartman in an blue miraculous suit.
"Isn't that…" Future Queen Bee said.
"The peacock miraculous?" Mister Bug finished.
"There you are!" Cartman shouted and flexed his arms with thumbs pointing at himself. "Now you will face Beefcock!"
The entire team couldn't help but stifle a laugh, a nice change of feeling considering what had happened. Even Ryuko understood the implication and couldn't help to giggle herself.
"Yeah, we're not calling you that."
"Uhhhh… guys?" Rocket said. The Cthulu sentimonster roared again and began stomping on the buildings.
"It's gonna have to wait," Mister Bug said. "Now we don't know where the amok is so we need to aim for Cartman himself."
Everyone got ready as they all took a fighting stance.
Meanwhile…
Nathalie woke up and felt she was bound and her mouth taped. She immediately began to struggle to break free. She looked around and saw she was… in Hawk Moth's former lair.
"Why here?" She pondered as she looked around and saw that the damages from the fight between Hawk Moth and Cat Noir weren't cleaned up. She couldn't say she was surprised that Gabriel would refuse to return here after that fateful night. She rolled her way to the staircase and got up on her feet with her unnaturally enhanced stamina. At the point of the edge of the railing and with enough rubbing she was able to wear out and break free from her bonds. She untied her feet and slowly pulled the tape off her lips.
"Gabriel…" she said as she took the elevator down to his office and was shocked to see that the office was trashed as well. His computer was also decimated, she observed and it did not seem to be destroyed from an outside attack. She figured out it was destroyed from the inside in a fit of rage. It most likely happened when he figured out Emilie's plan. With a gasp, she remembered where the infrared sensors were placed and anticipated that with the manor empty, security was still on. She carefully went to her old desk and found herself wishing she was sitting at the desk in broad daylight, waiting for Adrien to return from school. She was overjoyed to find he was alive but she couldn't be more terrified at him right now. She opened her drawer and saw that her business tablet was still there, she quickly dialed the person she wanted to speak to at that moment.
"Hello?" he said and froze upon seeing who it is. He slightly blushed upon realizing she was no longer wearing her usual business suit but a rather revealing summer dress, her hair was all down as well. He quickly turned stern, not cold but professional. "Hello, Nathalie."
"Hello, Gabriel."
Meanwhile…
Rocket, Ryuko, Pegasus, and Carapace landed on the ground hard, leaving craters and all shouted in pain. Cthulu grabbed Rena from its head and threw her away as well.
"VENOM!" The two Queen Bees shouted in unison as they charged together with their top points. Cartman threw a bunch of thick feathers at both of their faces, stunning them and grabbed their arms, and stung them with each others' points, paralyzing them. They were thrown off as well. Mister Bug spun his yoyo and clashed with Cartman's fan.
"Cartman!" Mister Bug shouted. "Stop this now!"
"Screw you guys, screw you guys, screw you guys," Beefcock said in a high-pitched sing-song voice. The two spoke as they traded blows.
"What do you hope to gain?" Mister Bug asked. "Decimating half of Paris and for what?"
"Squeeze the info from your mother that's what!"
"And killing everyone else in the process?"
"If that means to maintain my freedom to think for myself? Then yes!" he said as he struck.
"What do you mean?"
"She doesn't know but I don't think you should be surprised but all those souls gathered by the White Plague is only enough for one wish and the Blue Mustang never intended for her to get her wish. Their plan was to use the wish to take full control."
"World domination!" Mister Bug concluded.
"Of course!" Cartman spouted.
"And you want to stop them because…?" he asked as he backflipped, dodging Beefcock's attack.
"A world where I can't do what I want and me not on the top of the world? No thanks!" Cartman retorted said as he pinned his opponent down.
"What? And hey, where's the amok, anyway?"
"Would you like to know? You missed it."
"What?"
"I don't have it with me. So I hid it right under your nose, probably a certain frame that shook you?"
"Huh?"
"Now how about be a good little boy and stay put while I squeeze your mom, huh? Screw you guys, Imma going home! WHOAAAAA!"
Beefcock was suddenly levitated by an unnatural wind. He struggled with the wind but it seemed to have a will of its own.
"You do not wish to improve the world" Ryuko sneered. "You simply wish to mold it to your twisted image!"
"Get your ass off me!" he yelled as he swung his fan as she blew off abruptly regaining her original form and landing on top of Mister Bug. "Cthulu, your turn!"
The Cthulu creature obeyed as he knocked Mister Bug and Ryuko off its head and continued its rampage on Paris searching for its prey.
Mister Bug and Ryuko saved the paralyzed Queen Bees from a painful landing, despite their ability to survive the impact.
"Damn it, at this rate he'll destroy Paris with the survivors in it!"
"Have you used your lucky charm?" Ryuka asked as they got up on their feet.
"Not yet, I was thinking of using it while you guys gang up on him," he said. As if on cue the Arc Triomphe came down.
At this rate, there will be no Paris and your mother will leave town," Ryuko urged.
"No choice," he conceded and threw his yoyo up in the air. "LUCKY CHARM!"
His yoyo then popped up into a ring. He caught it and looked at the design carefully and saw the textures in it and resembled...
"The black cat ring?" Ryuko asked. "You told me you have the ring to become Cat Noir."
"That makes no sense, I still have to be Mister Bug for this to work so how can I be…oh…" his vision turned black and white, and saw crucial objects flashing red with black spots: the ring, his yoyo, the Eiffel Tower.
"Mister Bug?"
"Ryuko, rally everyone else and come up with a plan, I gotta set this whole thing up," he said as he backed away and tried to contact Marinette.
"I believe you must take care of them while I reunite the others," Ryuko suggested, pointing at the two paralyzed Queen Bees.
"You got it," he said as he contacted on his yoyo and saw Ryuko off.
Meanwhile…
Marinette paced around the private jet, something she would never be able to do in a public plane. Her phone rang which caused her to yelp and juggled her cell phone so it would not hit the ground. It slipped between her fingers and it bounced off her palm and fell to the other side of her bed. She finally grabbed it and answered.
"Whoah…" she cleared her throat. "Hello."
"Marinette, where are you now?"
"Mister Bug?"
"Paris should be within view isn't it?"
"I…" she said but was cut off when Gorilla came out of the cockpit.
"Kid, change of plans we are heading to the nearby runway at the outer rim!"
"Huh, why?"
"Look over there!" he pointed at the cockpit view straight ahead. Marinette entered and saw the giant creature terrorizing the city.
"Oh my God!" she bellowed, "What is that thing?"
"A sentimonster," Mister Bug replied. "It's a long story but we need you here now!"
"What? But the pilot already said we need to…" she cut herself off when Mister Bug quickly explained a crazy proposal. She took a look at the monster in the distance yet again.
"Marinette…?"
"Fly towards Paris!" she said pointing onward at the creature.
"What!?" Gorilla yelled.
"Are you insane?" the co-pilot asked.
"I gotta get there and stop that thing?"
"How?"
"Just trust me and do it!"
"You sure about this, Marinette!?" Mister Bug asked. "I gotta admit, this plan is bonkers! And it was my idea!"
"No way," the co-Pilot said. "We're turning!"
"Contact Gabriel Agreste, he can bypass protocol and give him the order!" Mister Bug suggested.
"We ain't got time for that!" Gorilla took control of the plane before it could deviate too much from its course to Paris.
"Are you insane!?" the co-pilot yelled.
"This is something bigger than us, DeMayo!" Gorilla yelled as he stirred the plane hard causing Marinette and DeMayo to wipe out.
Meanwhile…Back in Paris…
"All right," Mister Bug whispered as he hung up.
"Uuuhhhh…" One of the paralyzed Queen Bees muttered, still unable to speak.
"What's wrong?" Mister Bug asked. His earrings rang; he gritted his teeth and covered his earlobe.
"AAAAAhhhhhh!" the two Queen Bees bellowed in panic as the monster spotted them.
"Planning something out in the open, huh?" Cartman shouted from above the creature's head. "Classic mistake!"
The beast raised its and showed its claws before it struck towards them. Mister Bug got between the sentimonster and the two Queen Bees and begun to spin his yoyo in defiance, preparing for the worst. The two Queen Bees bellowed in protest as the claw approached.
"SHELL-TER!" Carapace stepped in and a barrier protected them from the attack of the beast. "Ryuko explained everything!" he said giving a thumbs up.
"We'll keep them busy just go a don what you gotta do!" Rena said as she Ryuko, Rocket, and Pegasus stepped in as well.
"Hmm," Mister Bug nodded.
"Hmm," Rocket nodded.
"Hmm."
"Hmm."
"Hmm."
"Hmm."
"Hmm."
"Hmm," The two nodded at each other.
"Okay, everyone, draw it away from the Eiffel Tower!"He ordered his team. "Pegasus?" He jumped away from the rest of the group.
"Say no more," he said as he created a portal below Mister Bug.
"Stop him!" Beefcock yelled. But it was too late. Mister Bug gave a two-finger salute as he fell into the portal and it disappeared. Cthulu's attack barely missed him. "GODDAMMIT!"
"Everyone!" Ryuko called. "Be on your guard! You heard what he said, we must retreat it from the Eiffel Tower!"
"Time for a little payback to get adrenaline flowin'!" Rocket said in a rap. Rena scoffed.
"Ugh, you really have to drop that…"
"Nice rapping, dude!"
"Ugh, really Nino?"
Elsewhere…
The plane was hovering above Paris. Neither Gorilla, nor Co-Pilot DeMayo was fully sure of Marinette's plan. If Marinette was completely honest, neither was she. Her sweaty palms were massaging the pilots' seats as she had not moved her hands in quite a while as she hung on and waited for the moment to strike. She was still too far from the 'meeting point' and it may become too dangerous for the plane to come any closer. She stepped out and called Mister Bug.
"My lady?" he greeted.
"Mister Bug, where are you?"
"I'm in my hideout feeding Tikki some sweets, we're getting ready how about you?"
"This is bad, once we get to our spot there no guarantee they can fly out of here safely."
"We better think of something fast we only got one shot at this, otherwise there will be no way to get him to speak again without most of Paris already gone!"
Adrien paced back and forth in his storage as he tried to figure out what to do. He opened the drawer from the thin desk where the small box which held the black cat ring as well as the Eiffel tower keychain. He opened it and took the ring, leaving the box behind. He couldn't help but take a glance at the Eiffel tower keychain. The feeling of melancholy he always had whenever he saw that keychain crept up on him once again, now even more so considering he brought that day up earlier when he interrogated Nathalie.
"Mister Bug? Please focus," Tikki prompted. He shook his head.
"I can't think about that now…" he thought and closed the drawer.
"What're we gonna do? Gorilla tries to keep in control but I can he's clearly on edge…"
Adrien froze at the mention of his bodyguard. He hasn't seen him since he went underground and did wonder how he was getting along.
"Come on, come on, think, think, think," he muttered. "AHA! Oh boy…"
"What's wrong? Thought of something?"
"*sigh* Yeah… But as if my plan couldn't get any crazier…"
"Huh?"
"Marinette, I need you to…"
Gabriel's private jet…
"What!?" Marinette shrieked, the two pilots were startled. "Are you crazy?"
"It's the only way to ensure they'll be all right," Mister Bug insisted.
"But the plane will run out of gas and crash!"
"The miraculous cure will take care of that, just point it east, or better yet, aim for the sentimonster!"
"WHAT!?"
"Don't worry Paris is been evacuated, the people are still freaked out about the plague."
"That's not the point! It's just…" Marinette cut herself off and facepalmed then stroked her hair backward.
"Marinette, look, things aren't quite the same as they were then…"
"Yeah, we didn't really have to get our hands dirty like that…" Marinette agreed. "Things really have changed haven't they?" she said with a sad smile.
"Marinette," Tikki greeted in.
"Tikki…" her voice cracked.
"Marinette, it was bound to happen. Every Ladybug has had to get their hands dirty to do what's right. I don't care where you came from, you're just as Ladybug as much as the rest!"
"Marinette, we need you." Mister Bug said. "I need you."
Marinette closed her eyes and smiled, thinking about all the times she spent with Tikki and Cat Noir. Despite the dangers that they went through, they also had a ton of fun.
"We can still be part of your life and live the time you did with us," Tikki said.
"It's not that we can't have fun together anymore, we still can if you will it," Mister Bug added in. Marinette opened her eyes, not losing her smile
"You know me too well…"
"So what," Mister Bug asked. "Are we doing this?"
"You bet, I'll get the thing going now," Marinette confirmed. "Oh, and Tikki?"
"Yes, Marinette?" Tikki acknowledged. There was a brief pause with the two.
"It's good to hear your voice again," she finally spoke up.
"Same here Marinette," Tikki said. "I wish we could talk now but now we must go back in, the other needs us."
"You're right," Marinette agreed. "Take care, you two."
"We'll see you soon." Mister Bug said and hung up.
Marinette took a deep breath. She turned around to the cockpit.
"All right you two put this plane on auto-pilot and get out of the cockpit!"
"WHAT!?"
Adrien's storage…
"Ready Adrien?" Tikki asked.
"Let's hit it. TIKKI, SPOTS ON!"
He got off his storage and closed the gate. While jumping from rooftop to rooftop he called his team, making his way to the Eiffel tower.
"Rocket, How are things on your end?"
"Bad, can't hold them off much longer. If you're gonna do something you better make it quick!"
Meanwhile…
Rocket quickly hung up and jumped back into the fray. Rena played her flute and created as many shadow clones as she could with Rocket doing something similar.
"BARRAGE!" He ran around the rooftops to give the illusion of more clones joining the charge. They all climbed their way up the creature and charged at him, he dodged all their attacks skillfully.
"WATER DRAGON!" Ryuko shouted as she became a huge wave that surrounded Beefcock. "WIND DRAGON!" Combining both the water and the wind she created a tornado to surround Beefcock to blind him with the mist. Present Queen Bee emerged from behind.
"Venom," she whispered. As she activated her top and was ready to strike.
Meanwhile, Future Queen Bee, Carapace, and Pegasus were facing the monster head-on.
"Over here!" Pegasus popped from a portal and quickly went back in. "Or is it over here?" he said from elsewhere. The monster was frustrated and began to smash buildings, causing quite a vibration.
"Maybe that was a bad idea dude…" Carapace suggested.
"What matters now is to drive him away from the Eiffel tower. Mister Bug should better hurry," she prompted before moving in.
The vibration caused by the rampage leads to present Queen Bee stumbling and accidentally stinging the sentimonster instead of Cartman. This immobilized the creature somewhat but still be able to move only more restricted.
"What are you doing? Move your ass!" Cartman sneered. "ACK!" he was grabbed from behind on a jujitsu lock.
"Where is the amok?"
"Isn't that the question of the day?" Beefcock sneered. He elbowed her in the rib and flipped her overhead. Ryuko landed on her feet and tried to roundhouse kick him, which Beefcock dodged. He then gave a barrage of quick punches on her abdomen then one on her face to knock her out of the monster. Ryuko recovered quickly and hung on its arm.
"Grr… I have underestimated him," she muttered, surprised at his fighting skill.
"Hey-oh!" Another voice shouted behind Beefcock. He turned to see Rocket striking from behind, which he reflected with his fan. "The amok, NOW!"
"Oh, Let me think, um no!" He deflected his claws.
"All right, let's do this the hard way!" he continued his barrage but the Beffcock knocked him off his feet and pinned him to the ground.
"I had your miraculous, I know what it does."
"Maybe, but you don't know anything about me," Rocket defied. He spun himself around to break off from his grip. "One way or another I'm gonna squeeze the amok outta you."
"Screw you!"
Gabriel's private jet…
"Wait what about you!" co-pilot DeMayo asked. "You don't even have a parachute!"
"Don't worry about me, just jump!" Marinette pushed the co-pilot who was horrified to jump despite having a parachute.
"Wait, this is crazy!"
"Young lady!" Gorilla yelled from behind, when she turned, he shoved the parachute to her. "You two jump and I'll pilot the plane!"
"No! You don't understand!" Marinette retorted, with her abnormal strength she grabbed him by the arm and forced the parachute into him.
"Hey!"
"I have to stay up here and drop at the right spot and it's too dangerous for you to stay on the plane."
"Gabriel has made you my new responsibility and I'm not gonna let him down like I di…"
"YOU WON"T!" Marinette retorted, cutting him off. She continued to fasten his parachute pack tightly. "You're just going to have to trust me."
"OW!"
"Ok, now jump!" not wasting any time, Marinette pushed both pilots off the plane with both of the available parachutes leaving her without one.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" DeMayo was screaming like a girl, not pulling his parachute.
"ANDY!" Gorilla yelled."Pull your parachute!"
DeMayo did not pull his parachute, still screaming like a girl. Gorilla rolled his eyes and groaned as he closed his arms to approach him rapidly and pulled his parachute before pulling his own.
"All right," she said after insuring the two men parachuted to safety. She contacted Mister Bug. "All ready?"
Paris…
"Almost there!" Mister Bug jumped from rooftop to rooftop. "We gotta be at the right spot, just be ready!"
On the last building closest to the Eiffel tower. Once his feet landed on the tower he wall ran his way upward to the top. His heartbeat only accelerated as he finally reached this part of the plan, there was no going back now. He slightly opened his yoyo and put the black cat ring on the tip of the lid and closed it tight enough so the ring wouldn't fall off. He reached the top of the tower and called Marinette.
"Mister Bug?"
"This is it, JUMP! OOOOF!" he stumbled when he saw that Ryuko gave the creature a hard front kick and Rocket gave it an uppercut at the same time, causing it to stumble back and crashing into a tall building. It on angrier and grabbed both of them with each hand and slam them down the ground causing a seismic wave, which made Gabriel's jet waver.
"AAAAAHHH!" Marinette panicked and fell backward to the plane entrance and held on for dear life with the gate entrance, losing any previous courage she had to jump. She looked over her shoulder but quickly turned back shutting her eyes and due to the plane wavering, she was unable to pull herself back in. She began to hyperventilate and looked around for no real reason. "Maman… Daddy…" she sobbed, holding onto the edges tightly, crying her eyes out as she desperately tried to pull herself back in but to no avail.
"MARINETTE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? JUMP!"
"I can't!" She sobbed.
"Pull yourself together!" Mister Bug hissed. "The whole city is riding on this!"
Amidst her tears, she remembered the enigmatic long-haired Kagami's message…
Trust Cat Noir
Sniffing for a bit she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and let go of the plane falling backward. She had to admit she enjoyed the cool misty air blowing all over her as she plummeted. Despite her dread, she opened her eyes and saw Paris upside down as if she was falling into the dark yellow sky as it consumed the town.
With his enhanced vision, thanks to the ladybug miraculous, he could make out Marinette falling into the ground way up high and fell into the ground, he began to spin his yoyo faster than he or even Ladybug herself had before as he sweats bullets doing so.
"Come on just as I instructed, extend your hand…"
"So Beautiful…" she whispered. The world fell silent for a few seconds. Once she heard the hard winds she quickly focused again and turned to face where the Eiffel tower's direction. She stretched her hand towards it and waited for what was next with any of her previous fear gone.
"One shot, Bug-a-boy, make it count!" he said to himself and threw the ring as hard as he could, calculating as to where she'll be when the ring reaches a certain point.
Both their hearts raced for a full thirty seconds which might as well be the longest of their lives.

The ring went right into Marinette's palm. She instinctively closed to a fist and with her other hand she quickly put it on, Plagg emerging from the ring immediately after. He saw where they were and panicked for a send before seeing who was wearing the ring.
"Explain later?" he asked.
"Yep," she replied. "PLAGG, CLAWS OUT!"
"Swan Song" by Dua Lipa plays.
She transformed into Lady Noir midair and quickly summoned her staff and spun in like a helicopter to slow down her fall and then used its tip to hit the ground and pole jumped off.
"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Mister Bug celebrated, jumping around, spinning as he jumped, fist-bumping upward as if punching the sky. Raising both his hands up in the air.
"WHOOOOO!"

And here you have it; Marinette finally returned to Paris with a vengeance. This moment has been built up for a long time as I was waiting for the right time to execute this scene.
Kudos if you spotted the "Steven Universe" crossover character. There are a few more characters I wish I could add in but unless they have a spot in the story, chances are slim at this point. Maybe I made Gorilla a bit to talkative…

Ok, here's the deal. I'm moving to a new home and I have to settle there by the end of March. Balancing packing, writing, and work won't be easy. I will still be working on this fic every chance I get but if there is indeed a delay you'll know why. It's also possible that the next chapter will be on the short side, below the 3,000 word minimum, if so then this will likely be a 3-parter.
Nevertheless, I will try to post a chapter in March before "the big haul," if you know what I mean.
