Based on Rainy Day Man song… you'll get it.
The beginning you'll have to use your imagination, it's supposed to sound like a record player catching on a word, actually any time when a word repeats with - between the repetition is suppose to sound like that. This is also meant as a short so the whole moving so fast and vaguely was intended.
"I-I-I am in love-love-love with another-other-an-other-another girl-girl-girl."
The words crushed her spirit, she turned and ran through the pounding rain. She slipped and careened into another girl. She was caught by the other and they locked eyes. "an-other-another-another girl."
"Rei-" She started but Rei ignored her and continued on her way to her home to cry her eyes out. It had been her first brush with love.
The following day Rei believed she could handle this turn about. She would talk to her best friend about it. But she reached the park and there they were, the blond pixie up on her tiptoes brushing his dark strands out of his eyes and they were in a tight embrace.
They turned to look at her, the pixie pulling out of the embrace and taking a step towards her, an apology on her lips, but Rei shook her head and ran off in the other direction. It wasn't her fault, it wasn't even his, it was her own. She knew they were in love but she ignored it and tried to get him to see her in even a shadow as much as he loved the other one.
"Rei-Rei-Rei." Rei turned her head to see a man emerge from the rain's fog.
"Chiro." Rei gasped. "What are you doing here?"
"I was looking for you, you're grandfather you'd probably be here." He looked around. "How long has it been raining like this?"
"A week." Since she first found out that the man she was crushing on loved another, always had.
"How long have you been out here?"
"Long enough." Rei sighed before she burst out in tears. "He loves somebody else!"
"Who?" Chiro stepped towards her and took her in his arms.
"My best friend!"
"You're best friend loves somebody else?"
"No! He loves my best friend, and they are so cute together and so in love!" She sniffled against his shoulder. "Now I'll have to see them often together!" She shook against one of her oldest friends as he ran a hand down her back in a soothing motion.
"It'll be all right."
He was like a brother to her and she used his support at this moment. She knew she loved him more than a friend but it was towards him as a brother and sister not anything else.
"Come now Rei, you knew this all along, didn't you?"
Rei nodded against his shoulder. "I did, I should have seen this coming, but he's so handsome, I thought I had a chance but she's so special."
"You're just as special."
"I know, but she's perfect for him." Rei tightened her hold on her rainy day man. He smelt like the rain unlike the other one who always smelt like roses. She liked this scent better. She raised her tear stained face to look at him.
His green eyes looked down at her and before either knew it they were clinging to each other in the torrential rains soaking wet and most likely feverish. They quit kissing and Rei just hugged the man, who was no longer like a brother to her, but something more. Her first brush with love brought her to somebody she always knew. She wanted to see him again but knew that it wouldn't ever go pass that kiss.
He was her rainy day man, and now she could face whatever would be thrown at her.
