A/N: Ok so my partner prompted me with a subject I could put on and wanted to write it. So enjoy and love to hear your thoughts.
By 10pm pretty much everyone was in the bunkroom trying to get some sleep before any calls came in.
Shay was stirring as she couldn't fall asleep. Looking over to Gabby's bunk she saw it was vacant. She quietly got up, trying not to wake anyone as she began a walk to see where Gabby was.
As she arrived in the common room she could hear the TV was on quietly and Gabby was curled up on one of the sofa's as Shay walked round and over to her, sitting next to her best friend.
"Hey. Couldn't you sleep?" Gabby looked over as Shay sat down, smiling gently.
"No I just kept stirring. I guess you couldn't either." Shay smiled back and wrapped an arm around Gabby's shoulders as Gabby shook her head to say no before settling into Shay.
"I tried. Just couldn't get my head to settle. My brains just going over our conversation earlier today." Gabby answered honestly. "I love being on Truck 81 but I know it must of taken a lot for you to even come and ask me knowing I'm happy."
Shay looked down "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause upset. I just miss working with you. Brett is such a great paramedic and we work well together."
Gabby nodded her head as she touched Shay's cheek and spun it towards her so they were looking at one another "Shay you don't need to apologise. I'm still your best friend and always here to talk and listen even if it about me."
Gabby pulled Shay into a kiss that became heated quite quickly as both Shay and Gabby settled into it. Gabby pushed Shay down so she's lying on the sofa with Gabby on top as the TV continues to play to itself.
"We should stop before we get caught" Shay spoke between kisses even though her body wanted to continue. Shay bit her lip as Gabby kissed down to her neck.
"Do we have to?" Gabby spoke huskily into Shay's ear, rolling there hips together over there clothes, making them both gasp quietly.
Gabby soon came to her senses as she sits back up as she had heard movement further down the corridor. "I'm sorry. Yeah we should stop"
Shay sits herself up and takes Gabby's hand "Hey...it's fine. It's just badly timed and bad place otherwise..." Shay leaned in and whispers into Gabby's ear "our clothes wouldn't be on right now and I would be making you scream."
Gabby moved back and gave Shay a glare as they got back into a normal sofa seating position. It was perfectly timed as Otis came in for a drink.
The girls ended up falling asleep on the sofa. Being woken up by Mills in the kitchen. The rest of the shift went well and it was soon home time.
90 MINUTEs LATER
Casey and Gabby was in bed at home after a sex marathon.
"Wow that was just wow" Casey said as he held Gabby's hand on top of the cover.
"Yeah it was. Casey I have a doctors appointment at a fertility clinic in a hour. Can I you come with me?" Gabby spun to face him as she just remembered her appointment.
They had spoken about having a family for a while now but hadn't had much success in conceiving so Gabby was looking into her fertility prospects.
"Of course I will."
With that Casey and Gabby got showered, dressed and breakfast ready to go out.
1 HOUR LATER
Gabby and Casey arrived at the clinic and signed themselves in. It didn't take them long to be called through.
Once introductions was made they started the tests. It was a hour later when the doctor came back with some news and apologised for the delay.
"No problem we just been thinking of questions to ask." Gabby replied. They were happy to be there.
The doctor goes through the results with them, explaining about her aneurism on her right artery. And that although Gabby could get pregnant, it wasn't advised due to it could kill Gabby during pregnancy or the birth if the aneurism ruptchers due to the added stress to her vascular system.
"So...what are our options?" Matt asked as Gabby went quiet as she was upset and in shock.
"I'm sorry I wish I had better news. We do have 1 option that will work around the aneurism. Have you thought about using a surrogate? So we use your sperm Matt and your egg Gabby to form a baby that someone else will carry for you. So the child is still yours biologically. Aside from this your safest option would be to Foster or adopt a child." The Doctor said politely. "I'll leave you with these leaflets and call us when and if you want to take the next step" The doctor handed over the leaflets before leaving the room.
Once Gabby was ready they leave the hospital to head for home, Matt decided to drive as Gabby was still in shock.
As soon as they were back inside home, Gabby burst into tears on the sofa, putting her head onto her hands as Matt came down and sat next to her not knowing what to say as he rubbed her back comfortably.
"Do you want me to get hold of Chaplain Orlovsky and get him to come over?" Matt asked as he tried to comfort Gabby.
Gabby shook her head as she didn't want to talk to anyone in a professional way right now. "Matt I just found out I can't naturally have a baby. I'm not ready to talk to a therapist or Councillor or anything" Gabby sobbed as she got up grabbing her coat and bag.
"Hey, where you going?" Matt asked worried as he stood up and walked over to where Gabby was grabbing her phone charger, putting it in her bag.
"I need time to think. I'm heading to Shay's" Gabby answered honestly as she grabbed her keys through tears. Gabby always went to Shay when she was upset.
"Ok, well I'll take you. Your in no fit state to be driving" Matt said as he took the keys out of Gabby's hand and grabbed his own keys so he could get back in later.
Gabby didn't speak a word as they lock up and Matt took her to Shay's apartment. Matt waited outside until Gabby was inside.
As Shay opened the door, she could see her best friend was in a state as she pulled Gabby in by the hand, closing the door as she pulled Gabby into a hug. Matt had left as soon as Shay had opened up to Gabby at the door.
"Hey...shh...it's ok" Shay soothed as she rubbed her hand up and down Gabby's back. Severide had gone and grabbed Gabby a drink of water.
It took a few minutes before Gabby was just sobbing in Shay's arms. Shay moved them over to the sofa at this point and they sat next to each other.
Before Shay could ask, Gabby finally spoke "Shay...I can't have kids naturally"
"What do you mean?" Shay asked confused as she held Gabby's hands in her own.
"I have a aneurism. They said if I do become pregnant I am putting myself at risk as the stress could erupt it." Gabby spoke sadly, allowing Shay to stroke her hand.
"Oh Gabby..." Shay pulled Gabby into a hug as Gabby began to cry again. "I'm sure there's other ways you can have a family Gabby. Fostering, adopting or Surrogacy." Shay reassured her. "you will be a fantastic Mum."
Gabby sniffles "I know...just I wanted to be able to carry my own child."
"You know I would help you if I could. But I'm still recovering and I don't know the affects will be from the blast to be pregnant." Shay offered genuinely. "I'll be here for you what ever happens Gabriela Dawson."
Gabby smiled softly as she understood why her friend couldn't risk being a surrogate. "I understand and thank you for being here for me wifey." Gabby lightly joked. Something they had done for a while.
Shay smiled as she watched her friend slowly calmed down "I would marry you tomorrow and do all I could to let you have a easy pregnancy if it made you happy if I could" Shay replied, not realising what she had suggested.
"Shay you want to marry me and have a family together?" Gabby looked Shay dead in the eye after wiping them of tears.
A/N: Ok so think I'll leave this long chapter here. Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Had a bit more Matt/Gabby on this chapter.
