Hoo weee, chapter six is here! Hope you all had fun ways to spend at home! This quarantine really sucks, but if it helps save lives, I'm more than willing to do it! Anyways, hope you enjoyed my story so far! Again, I'm not great at writing cohesive stories, but I'll do my best here!
Disclaimer: bruhmeister is not one of the following people: Jack Ma, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Tim Cook, Takahiro Hachigo, James Quincey, etc. Thus, I don't claim ownership of any companies portrayed.
On to the chapter, which I have a feeling some of you might enjoy!
Edit: I reuploaded this chapter since I made some errors with the levels. Whoops!
"Aww, come on! You're no fun!" Ruby pouted, fairly annoyed that Samuel won't pass her the remote. "I just wanna watch one movie, promise! Pleaseeeeee?"
The human groaned, placing his bowl of ice cream on the coffee table in front of him. He reluctantly handed the smiling Absol the remote. "Fine, but I'll be taking it back at 8, aight?"
"Yay, thanks Sam!" The Disaster Pokemon spoke, before rushing up the stairs with the remote in her maw. "Fhey! Fheliosf! Wanna waff a mofvie?"
"Yeah, sure." The Houndoom replied, walking down the stairs beside Ruby. She promptly rubbed her face onto his neck, getting him to blush faintly. The pair walked over to the couch and plopped beside Samuel, who sighed in response.
"Man, I really wanted to see the rest of the tourney…" He muttered as the image on the TV transitioned from a Toucannon raising its wings in victory to a fairly cheesey rom. He groaned again as he picked up his now empty bowl and walked over to the kitchen.
Just as he did, a sudden sound cut through the romantic music, as news flash popped up on screen. Upon impulse, Sam turned around to look at the screen, alongside a confused look and an annoyed one coming from Helios and Ruby respectively.
"Breaking news: Pastoria City's pride and joy, the Great Marsh, has been under attack this evening. Around 6:36 PM, a series of loud and violent explosions went off around Areas 1, 3 and 6, as well as near the gate. On first inspection, it seemed like nothing has been damaged, but upon closer look, researchers have been met with an incredible sight."
A few pictures flashed on screen, a few taken from the areas affected and one from the main gate. In all of them, a purple scraggy line was visible, spanning various sizes ranging from 30 cm to 5 m in length. It emanated a dark purple aura with some of it spewing from the inside. A photo taken closer to the oddity showed an interior that looked like a much skewed version of the Great Marsh, with upside down pieces of floating earth, inverted colors and dried trees.
"Roughly 2 minutes after these photos were taken, these purple 'tears' as the researchers say disappeared without trace. Currently, it is unknown whether the initial explosions are correlated to these tears, however it is highly unlikely they aren't. Here, we have Crasher Wake, the gym leader of Pastoria City, to give us his thoughts on this issue."
The camera cuts to a live interview of the large man, who wore a blue and black wrestling pants accompanied by a pair of yellow boots. His chest was uncovered, exposing his daunting muscles. He wore a mask that resembled an inverted Y with two white protruding fins on his head. He looked visibly angry.
"The Great Marsh has been home to various rare and endangered Pokemon for centuries! It's a place that must be protected at all costs for the current and future generations of people and Pokemon to enjoy, and yet some asshats decide to use it as a stage for a fucking experiment that could've spelled disaster!? Un-fucking-believable! If you're watching this, you assholes, you better get ready for judgement to arrive. Us gym leaders won't let shit like this to go unpunished, just you wait!" The man roared in anger, before storming through the crowd that gathered.
"Uhh…what?" Helios spoke, still wide eyed. Ruby was similar in response as well. "Did…that really just…?"
"Hey guys, sorry if I took too long. See, I accidentally- Uhm.." Josh was drying his hair with his towel, before looking around the room and at the shocked expressions. "Uhhh, did something happen?"
Samuel, who was still quiet and in shock at what had unfolded, explained the situation to Josh. Upon finishing, Josh sported his own look of disbelief.
"Holy shit." He muttered.
…
"Holy shit." Tyler muttered, as he walked down the street, with both is Pokemon on his shoulders and with his phone in hand. He couldn't believe what happened. As he scrolled through the article, it got more ludicrous the longer it went. "What the hell."
"What's wrong, Tyler?" Jewel spoke, breaking away her gaze from the setting sun towards Tyler. Tyler sighed and showed his screen to her, with the title of the article taking the most space.
'Multiple explosions occur at Great Marsh; physics seemingly broken'
"A series of explosions happened at the Marsh. Though the damage caused wasn't too severe, the explosions themselves caused a series of 'tears in space' to appear." Tyler spoke, still having a hard time processing it all. Autumn had decided to wake up at this time, after which she looked at the screen as well, sharing in Jewel's surprise.
"What!? Explosions!?" The Eevee yelped. Tyler nodded in response. "O-oh no, I-I hope everyone's o-okay…." The Vulpix on his other shoulder added, clearly fearful for the safety of innocent Pokemon and people alike. Tyler kept scrolling through the article, before letting out a sigh of relief.
"Thankfully, nobody was hurt, as the Marsh was closed due to the severe rain. Arceus, if only the weather hadn't been so bad…" Tyler mumbled the last part, shaking his head as he pocketed his phone. "At least everyone's okay."
Autumn nodded in response, now less scared than before. Jewel also let out her own sigh of relief, leaning her head into Tyler's. Tyler chuckled, before stuffing both his hands into his pockets and continuing his walk. The restaurant was in sight.
A large neon sign which said "The Hungry Snorlax" was set above the fairly old looking restaurant. Tyler deduced that it was probably built in the 80s. He also noticed the sign which said "Pokemon friendly", grinning in response. He walked up to the entrance and opened the door.
The trio was greeted with a waft of warm air, in stark contrast to the cold outside. The interior was spacious, adorned with a large number of tables. Large booths, tall enough to even fit Delmises, were placed along the side and rear walls. The deep red carpet and retro but cool furnishings made a good pair.
Tyler and the girls walked over to the counter in front of them, behind which was a waiter donning a friendly smile.
"Hello, sir. Welcome to the Hungry Snorlax! I'm Rob, how may I help you?"
"Yeah, hello. I'd like a table for three, please." Tyler said as he scratched the bottom of Jewel's chin, getting her to laugh happily, and using his other hand to stroke Autumn's back, getting her to smile and blush faintly. The waiter chuckled at this, before responding.
"Sure thing! Follow me please." He beckoned as Tyler followed him.
A short walk later, Tyler sat down at an appropriately sized table, big enough for two people or one person and two small Pokemon, with him being in the latter situation. Rob walked away for a bit, before returning with a menu in hand.
"Alright, would you like to order now or later?" He asked, waiting patiently for a response.
"Later would be fine. Thank you." Tyler replied with a smile, the girls following suit. "Thanks, mister!" Jewel spoke. "T-thank you…" Autumn spoke, softer.
The man smiled and nodded before walking away. Tyler picked up the menu and after looking at it, he finally decided on his order.
"Right, I'm feeling like a burger today. Sooo, the Deluxe burger it is. What about you, girls?" Tyler asked as he handed both of them the menu.
"Hmm, I think I'll have the summer berry salad." Jewel replied, handing the menu over to Autumn. "Uhh…I-I guess I'll have the Tamato curry." Tyler nodded at their response, before calling Rob back and giving him their orders.
After a few minutes of waiting, their food arrived.
Damn, I didn't notice how hungry I was. This place was a good idea
As they started eating, each of them noticed how tasty the food was. Jewel's salad bursted with fresh flavours of the Oran, Cheri and Pecha berries. Autumn's curry had a spicy kick and slices of Tamato berry that the Fire-type loved. Tyler's burger oozed with delicious juices, accompanied by crisp and delectable fries.
Upon finishing, Tyler can't help but pat his full belly and letting a small burp escape, getting the girls to giggle. "Wow, that was great! Josh really has to step up his game!" He exclaimed, delighted by his meal.
"I agree. That was the best tasting thing I've ever eaten!" Jewel yipped happily, as she only used to eat canned Pokefood before Tyler found her. She was eternally grateful for the fact.
"Y-yeah, that was really good." Autumn said with a smile. She's eaten Tamato berries before, but none that tasted so good. "Glad to see both of you agree, let's go and pay." Tyler spoke as he got off his chair, followed closely by both Pokemon.
After walking over to the counter, Tyler promptly tapped his card and exited the restaurant. Once outside again, the cold air greeted him again, causing him to shiver slightly. Then, he remembered what to do next.
"Hey, let's head on over to the park we talked about. How's that sound?" Tyler offered. Jewel was quick to answer. "Sure, sounds like fun!" She yipped.
"Y-yeah, sounds great." Autumn added, with a hint of excitement in her voice.
Tyler smiled and began walking, with Jewel and Autumn following closely.
After a few minutes of walking, Tyler thought about something.
We've never really trained before. Considering how dangerous the world might be, we should. That, and taking on the League challenge sound's pretty fun….
Ya'know what? Why the hell not?
"Hey, girls. I've been thinking…I feel like I wanna take on the League challenge." Tyler spoke softly, fearing the reaction. However, he had nothing to fear. Jewel perked up and ran over to him and looked at him, stars in her eyes.
"Really!? Yes! Let's do it!" She yelped happily, which was definitely not the reaction Tyler expected. "Wait, what? You mean it? I thought you'd refuse, since… you know."
The Eevee shook her head. "No, I mean it. I love battling, it's just that my previous trainer was too blind. He didn't care if I couldn't continue…I tried my best, but even so…I-I just can't win some of the battles….I was so scared since he would hit me…E-every time I-I.." Jewel sniffled, tears forming in her eyes. Tyler couldn't stand seeing her like this. Autumn shared her trainer's feeling.
Tyler knelt down and hugged Jewel closely, his warmth washing away her sorrow almost instantly. "Jewel, I understand. You can be sure I'd never do that to you. I'd be anything but human if I do. I love you girls and I'll never let anything happen to you two." Tyler spoke softly, tears streaking down his face as he included Autumn in the hug. "You two mean the world to me."
Jewel felt the intense happiness that came from him and vowed to do her best. Not for her wellbeing, but for her, Autumn and Tyler. Tyler broke the hug and wiped his eyes, looking over to Autumn. Before he could ask, however, she spoke up.
"Yes, I'll do it. I'm highly grateful for what you've done for us, Tyler. I…I want to repay you by helping you achieve your goals." Autumn spoke with newfound confidence, her determination palpable. Tyler smiled and pet her hair, smile and blush forming on her.
"Thanks, you two. I've never thought I'd meet such sweethearts." He chuckled while petting both of them, happy croons coming from both of them, with Autumn's trademark blush on her face. "Alright, let's go, ladies."
Tyler got up and beckoned them both to follow him.
After roughly ten minutes of walking, they reached the park. It was large, filled with plenty of small shrubs and trees, casting a natural shade. Berry bushes lined the sides of various sitting areas. There were a few large and open clearings in the distance.
Tyler walked over to one of the large clearings and stopped in the middle.
"I think we can get some training done here, then we'll head over to the hot springs. How's that sound?" Tyler asked.
"Yeah, sounds like a plan!" Jewel spoke up, followed by Autumn.
"That does sound good…" Autumn said, no longer stuttering.
"Right, let's see what moves you two know…" Tyler mumbled as he rummaged in his pocket for his phone. Around 8 years ago, manufacturers started integrating Pokedex technology into mobile phones, since it made no sense to carry around two devices if they can be merged. Now, even cheap phones had all Pokedex features, with more expensive ones having more.
Aiming his phone at Jewel, a small blue light was emitted from the camera. A few seconds later, Jewel's information popped up on screen.
Species: Eevee
Trainer: Tyler Whiting
Battle Level: 26
Ability: Adaptability
Learned Moves: Quick Attack, Swift, Double Kick, Bite, Baby Doll Eyes, Tackle
Tyler looked over her stats fairly quickly, before noticing something odd. Double Kick isn't a normal move that an Eevee learns naturally.
"Hey, Jewel. How come do you know Double Kick?" Tyler inquired.
"Honestly, I don't know. I just do." Jewel shrugged. Tyler then had an idea.
"Sorry for asking, but do you remember your parents?" Tyler asked, Jewel looking confused for a while before answering.
"No, I've never met them. All I remember is that I when I hatched, I was already with…him." She laced the final word with disgust. "Ah, figures. It's an egg move. A move carried down from your parents." Tyler concluded, with Jewel nodding in response.
"Alright, let's check yours, Autumn." He said, scanning her as well.
Species: Vulpix
Trainer: Tyler Whiting
Battle Level: 33
Ability: Drought
Learned Moves: Confuse Ray, Quick Attack, Flamethrower, Flame Charge, Extrasensory, Will-O-Wisp
Tyler's eyes widen at the sight.
Level 33!? What the fuck?
"Uhm, what is it, Tyler?" Autumn asked, worried by Tyler's facial expression.
"Autumn, how old are you?" Tyler asked, with Autumn looking confused. Jewel also looked at him, also confused.
"Uhm, I think I'm 6…Why?" She replied. Tyler looked even more shocked.
"You're level 33, yet you're only 6 years old!?" Tyler exclaimed, startling the poor Vulpix. Jewel was appropriately shocked too. "33!? I'm 7 and yet I'm only 26! How is this possible?"
"Eep! P-please don't be mad…" Autumn spoke, shivering in fear. Tyler noticed this and softened. "Hey, calm down, Autumn. I'm not mad, I'm just surprised. There's nothing to worry about."
"W-well, I mean I had to fend for myself alone in the forest. I-I knew I was fairly strong, but not that strong…" Autumn muttered, no longer afraid.
Tyler sighed. "Well, it makes sense. Sorry for scaring you, Autumn. Never thought you'd be so strong." He said with a smile, petting her lightly and scratching her between her ears, earning a wide smile from her as she leaned into his petting.
"Well, we should sta-" Tyler said before he was cut by a yell.
"Hey! You! You're a trainer right?" A childish voice yelled behind him. Tyler turned around to spot a young boy clutching a Pokeball in his hand. "I wanna battle!"
"Uh, you sure kid? I mean-" Before he could finish, Jewel tapped his shoulder, getting him to turn around. "Don't worry, Tyler. We got this." Jewel smiled somewhat smugly at him, getting him to chuckle.
"Alright alright. Let's do it." Tyler accepted, walking over to his side of the clearing.
"Hell yeah! Let's go, Staravia!" The boy yelled, as the Starling Pokemon emerged from the flash. It looked over at Tyler and smirked. Tyler gave it a determined stare.
"Go, Jewel!" He shouted, with Jewel running up front, getting into a fighting stance. The Staravia gave her a smug grin.
"You ready to lose, little girl?" He taunted, trying to agitate Jewel and Tyler. Fortunately, both of them kept their heads cool.
"I might be, but are you?" Jewel retorted, falling deeper into her stance. "Hey, Autumn, can you start us off?" Tyler asked her, with the Fox nodding in response.
"And, begin!" She yelped, beginning the match.
"Star, use Aerial Ace." Star took up to the sky before swooping down towards Jewel, his body glowing white. Jewel glanced back at her trainer, awaiting his orders.
"Now! Swift!" Tyler yelled. Jewel immediately let out a burst of stars, pelting Star hard. He began losing his balance, before swooping down and turning around, trying to gain altitude.
"Catch him off! Use Quick Attack!" Tyler yelled. Jewel ran as fast as she can and struck Starin the side, throwing him off his flight path. After tumbling a bit, Star gritted his beak.
"Hit her with Double Team!" Instantly, multiple copies of Star appeared, all simultaneously taking off. Jewel watched each of them carefully. Tyler did the same, and a thought popped into his mind.
I have to find the right one…Got it!
"Wing Attack!" Suddenly, all of them rushed towards her, their wings glowing slight blue. Tyler knew what to do.
"Baby Doll Eyes!" Jewel gave her best cute and innocent look. Out of all the clones, only one gave a visible reaction to her move. "Swift!"
Catching what he meant, Jewel shot off a volley of stars at one of the Staravia. His eye's widen as they made contact, knocking him out of the sky. "Now! Double Kick!"
Jewel ran and planted her forepaws on to the Starling Pokemon, kicking it hard onto the ground. It tried to get up, but failed to do so, as it fainted.
"Aw hell yeah! Nice work, Jewel!" Tyler congratulated, hugging her close. Jewel yipped at the hug.
"Thanks, Tyler!" She beamed. The kid wasn't happy, however, as he stomped over to them.
"Hey! You're cheating!" He yelled, catching Tyler off guard. "Aerial Ace always hits! What dirty trick are you using!?"
"Kid, you gotta read the description carefully. It always hits aka it never misses. Doesn't say that it can't be countered." Tyler explained. The boy tried to retort, but no words left his mouth.
"Fine, whatever." He grumbled before walking off. Tyler sighed and looked over to the now annoyed Jewel. "Man, he's so annoying."
Tyler chuckled. "You can say that again." Tyler walked over to Autumn who was watching the battle, excitement in her eyes. "You seemed to enjoy that."
"Yeah!" She beamed, a wide smile on her face. Tyler chuckled again before speaking again.
"So, uh, training?"
"Hmm….no."
"Autumn?"
"…I'm tired."
"Heh, of course. Tomorrow then." Tyler said, before leaving the park.
And that's it for chapter six! Keep in mind, this is my first time trying to write a battle. A short one this time, but I promise others would be longer. Anyways, thanks for reading and I'll see you guys in the next chapter!
