Chapter 1:

It started out as any other day in the SGC, Sam in her lab. Daniel translating a tablet. Teal'c in a deep state of kelnoreem. Jack was in Washington DC with General Hammond. Jack decided to text Sam.

Whatcha doing?

Sam on the other end took her phone and replied:

Nothing much. Working, you?

Jack texted swiftly.

Meetings. The usual.

They talked for a few minutes until Hammond called him in. Apparently, President Hayes was suspicious about Vice President Kinsey's behaviour. And wanted the guy gone. But there wasn't any solid evidence. "It is believe that Robert has an inside man in the SGC, I want you to find him.".

Jack smirked. "Will do sir.".

The flight back to Colorado was very unpleasant. Jack couldn't shake the thought, an inside man in the SGC. He walked into the SGC an hour later and went to find Sam. But not to his knowledge, was in her lab on the phone with Pete Shanahan.

He waited until she was done, and when she was, she looked up to him with that same smile that makes his brain stall for a second. "Sir?" She asked. Jack shook his head and return that smile. "Carter, uh, did anyone on base act a little weird for you lately?" he asked.

Sam shook her head. "No.". Jack believed her and then said: "Just asking.". He walked out of the office and went to the Mess Hall. He was eating his usual cake when Teal'c joined him. "Is this seat occupied O'Neill?" The stern Jaffa asked. Jack shook his head. "Not at all.".

As Teal'c sat down, he could sense Jack was uncomfortable. "I sense discomfort in you." He pointed out bluntly. Jack looked at his alien friend. "It's just, I had a rough flight. And I just need to think for a bit, that's all. No biggy.".

Teal'c raised his iconic questioning eyebrow. "I understand.".

As Jack clocked out of work, he was in the elevator when Sam caught up and jumped in. "Leaving sir?" she asked. Jack nods as he was playing with his truck keys. "Yeah, you?". Sam tapped her foot lightly. "Date night.".

That took Jack by surprise. "Date night? Well, hate to make you late.". As a matter of fact, Sam was looking for a reason to back out, but again, Jack refused to interfere in her personal life. One of the many things she loved in this man. As the elevator opened up, Jack walked up to his truck and drove to his house, while Sam sat there and didn't know what to do. "Damn." She grunted angrily.

She guessed she was going on that date after all.

The next morning, Jack woke up, it was Sunday, and he doesn't work on Sundays. So, he cracked open a beer and texted Sam.

How was your date?

He got an answer within five minutes.

Why are you texting me? You lost your chance.

This confused Jack to the core.

The other person answered immediately.

If you ever loved me, you would've quitted your job, your too late.

Jack's heart fell to the floor. Sam was doing THIS to him?! He couldn't stand it anymore. He was done. Done with Sam, done with the SGC, done with SG-1.
