Chapter 6:
In a far distance from Earth, Ares was standing in the throne room, gazing out of the window of his ship. He was thinking, flashes appear in his mind, memories foreign to him, memories of his host. But one particular memory came to his mind:
"Why didn't you leave Major Carter behind?".
"I would rather die myself, then loose Carter.".
"Why?".
"Because I care about her, a lot more then I am supposed to.".
The memory stopped and he shook his head. Ro'tak was at the entrance. "My lord? Are you alright?". Ares turned his head lightly. "Peachy." He replied. Did he just say that? The only way he will ever use Tau'ri phrases is if his host was fighting for control. Ro'tak bowed his head and walked away. Ares used this moment to show his fear. His fear of his host being stronger then him, 'I AM A GOD! I CAN WITHSTAND THIS!' he told himself. But the question was… … can he?
Back in the SGC, Sam was working on tracking the source of the signal. She didn't want more allies getting hurt. Narim fell asleep while reading Sam's copy on Steve Hawking's theory on Black holes. Sam was about to call it a day, when she was taken by a beam.
She found herself in a room, and who stood in front of her made her relax, it was Thor. "Greetings Major Carter, I heard of O'Neill, I believe to have found him, there is a chance of rescuing him, but we must capture him first.". Sam agreed with the Roswell Grey alien. But how were they gonna find him. Apparently, Thor had that covered, there were a string of planets who worshipped Ares, not as a god, but as a leader. If Ares didn't make people see him as a god, Earth could use that to their advantage.
Ares was at the moment on one of the planets in his domain, he was on his throne where many people came to visit him. One was a boy. "My lord, my mother is gravely ill, but we can't afford the needed healing to save her.". Ares got up from his throne and walked to the child. Kneeling he said: "Little One, I hear you, I shall send my greatest healer to your home. In return, I wish to see you become a strong warrior, I sense courage in your heart, doing what you believe to be best for your family.".
The boy rose and said: "Thank you my lord, your kindness won't be forgotten, and I shall become the greatest warrior to ever live.". Ares then called his First Prime over. "Then, you shall be trained by the best.". Ro'tak knelt down. "What's your name child?". The boy spoke. "Sa'har from the Northern Mountains.".
So, Ares had a soft spot, why? It can only be because Jack's protective instincts over children were clouding the symbiote's judgment more then it hoped. But to be honest, Ares liked the feeling, gaining love and respect from his worshippers other then using fear was always hard, this might make Ares's opinion over humans change, he never had a human host to redeem him before, but the feeling of growing a heart was very pleasant to him.
Back on Earth, Sam was summoned to a meeting with Earth's allies. The Asgard, Free Jaffa, Tok'ra and Tollan. Apparently, they had theories on how to save Jack. Jacob and Anise of the Tok'ra had a plan on attacking Ares's main stronghold, capture Ares and remove him.
The Asgard theorised on beaming him out and kill the symbiote from within.
The Free Jaffa planned on a full-scale attack to withdraw the enemy attention so that the Asgard could beam him out.
The Tollan wanted no part in this. (Cowards.).
Sam listened to them arguing against the Tollan's selfishness, while the Tollan claimed it to be impossible to rescue Jack. The only Tollan to agree with the other allies was Narim, who held little power of his people, a handful of Tollan survivors wished to assist in the fight to rescue Jack.
But Sam had other plans. Ares wanted her; she will give him what he wants.
