Chapter 8:

Ares was taken by surprise by this one. "Very well, it's your choice.". A gate address was sent and Sam was instructed to go there, as she was preparing to leave, Daniel and Teal'c met her in the gate room. "Be careful Sam, and bring him back." Daniel asked. Teal'c gave Sam one of his one arm hugs. "Be alerted Major Carter.". Sam insured the guys she will be fine, walking through the gate she found herself on a swamp planet instead on at Ares's stronghold.

Once she realized she was tricked, she made a run for the gate. But two Jaffa blocked her way. And three more surrounded her. A voice came from behind. "Did you really believe I would lead your people to my capital?" it was Ares. Sam had no choice, she had to surrender.

Ro'tak cuffed her and led her to the rings, beamed up into the ship, she saw a small boy waiting, Ares walked up to the boy with a smile and asked: "You ready to start your training young one?". The boy jumped with excitement. "Yes my lord. What is my first task?" He asked eagerly. Ares then said: "Search her for weapons, paying attention to detail pays off in battle.". The boy ran to Sam and Ro'tak help him up, the boy searched her and removed her P-90, radio, pistol, knife, but not her tracking device.

The boy ran to Ares with his arms full. He was basically skipping. Ares inspected the weapons and smiled: "Excellent. Go place these in the holding room for further inspection, Ro'tak! Escort the prisoner to the cells." He ordered. Ro'tak bowed his head and escorted Sam to a cell.

Locked up she sat there, she couldn't believe how much of a fool she was. A few minutes past when the boy came with a tray of food. "His Lordship insists you eat something.". A slot opened and the tray slid in. Sam didn't touch it. "How do I know it isn't poisoned?".

The boy rolled his eyes and took some of the food and ate it himself. "See, nothing. I prepared it myself.". Sam sighed, she was starving. She ate a little bit and realized it tasted very good. As she ate, the boy sat against the bars. "Are you really from the Tau'ri?" he asked. Sam nods. "I am, what's your name?". The boy answered. "Sa'har.".

Sam then said: "You don't seem afraid of Ares, a false god.". Sa'har then said: "Ares is not a god, there is only one god. And it isn't the Goa'uld.". Sam was taken by surprise. "Ares isn't your god?" she asked. Sa'har shook his head. "No, Ares taught us the ways of Christ.". Sam was astonished by this information, a Goa'uld system lord that didn't pose as a god? She never thought she would see that day. She scooted closer to the boy. "Tell me more of your leader.".

Sa'har began: "He is suppose to be allies with Anubis, but for some reason, he went and formed his own movement against the other Goa'uld, believing it's time for them to change their ways. Many of us follow him for he shows us compassion and care. He sent his personal healer to save my mother. My father walked out on my family when I was born, Ares and Ro'tak have treated me like family sense I became Ro'tak's apprentice.".

Sam then knew what was going on, Jack' emotions were messing with the symbiote's fragile state. Ares was considered as a far young system lord, possibly recently matured and didn't rely on a Jaffa. Sam saw her chance on getting Jack back, the last piece of the puzzle she missed.

After she finished the food, Ro'tak walked up to her. He opened the cell and said: "His Lordship wishes your presence." He said bluntly. Sam got up and was escorted to a room, at a table, sat Ares, he was looking through some scrolls with a feather pen. Ares looked up. "Sit, please.". She sat down and Ares placed the pen in the bottle of ink. "I understand you wish for the well being of your friend. I looked into his mind. He cares for you, deeply.". Sam didn't return his kindness. "You took him as host!". Ares sighed. "Anubis implanted me against my will. You see, all this, was done by him, he wanted me to be like him. The guy is as O'Neill would say: An ass.".

Sam then snorted: "What do you want?". Ares replied: "A truce, between our people. In return, I release your friend, and I will take a host willing to carry me.". Sam's jaw dropped. This Goa'uld was in fact different from the rest. She never came across any like him. But Ares spoke her mind. "I am different from the other system lords. That's what happens when you're a half breed.".

Sam was confused. Ares then explained his back story. "The queen that spawned me was a Tok'ra. Her mate, or my father, is a system lord. I wish to be freed from the System Lords, after the Goa'uld are destroyed, I plan on disappearing where no one will find me.".

Sam then said: "After you release my friend.". Ares smiled, stood up and held his hand out. "Then we got ourselves an agreement.".
