Chapter 10:

As Ares was back in his System Lord clothing, Sam walked up to him, she cleared her throat and Ares turned around. "Oh, sorry, didn't see you come in.". The silence between them was awkward, so Sam broke it. "Can I… … is he-" but Ares finished her thought when he bowed his head and Jack took over, his smile was proof. "I am here Carter.".

Sam couldn't help herself, the tears were streaming over her face, she flung to him and her arms were wrapped around him. Jack did the same. She was crying her eyes out. "I am sorry.". Jack then said: "Don't apologize, I should've known better, if I suspected something was off when I received those messages, I wouldn't been in this mess, I basically fucked myself.".

Sam giggled in his shoulder. "No giggling Carter, you make me loose my trail of thought." Jack jokingly responded. Sam then met with his gaze, inches from his lips. She looks at them, she wondered to herself how they will feel on hers, without the interference of some fancy virus or hallucination. She lend in closely, wanting to do it, but Jack pulled back.

"Not with him around." He asked. Sam didn't understand, until Ares spoke.

"Hey! I am part of this screw-up like you are!" the symbiote retorted.

Jack then snapped back: "If you didn't use my right eye to take a peek I would've done it you sneaky snot!".

Sam doubled over with laughter, this was her Jack alright, the humorous guy she knew, the brave and selfless soldier she fell in love with at first sight. No wonder she forgot to introduce herself at their first encounter, too bad Kowalski had to ruin the moment. But again, Jack acted like an ass as much as she acted like a soldier with an attitude. "Why did you act like an ass on our first encounter?" she asked. Jack smiled: "Because I liked you already, I just had to test you to see if you could hold your ground against an idiot that knows shit.".

Sam had to admit, she didn't think of it that way. Ares then slipped in control and said: "Don't worry Miss Carter, I'll watch his six for yea.". He winked at the end and placed his last bit of armour plating on, mostly the wrist guard, shoulder pad and neck guard. He looked a lot like a character from a medieval movie. Sam had to admit, he looked really sexy in it.

Sam and Ares arrived in the Gate Room, Daniel and Teal'c were waiting. Ro'tak then motioned them to expect cufflinks to be placed on. When that was done, General Hammond spoke over the intercom. "SG-1, good luck.".

They walked through to a plane where more Jaffa were, but they carried Ares's mark. Ares spoke: "Jaffa! Kree!". The Jaffa stood at attention. Ares turned the warriors. "Jaffa, SG-1." He introduced them. The Jaffa then went down on one knee. They then rose. Ares then explained that this will be their surprise attack if the Asgard tracker didn't work.

Ares then dialled another address. They walked through and found themselves on a planet, with a giant golden building. Kull warriors walked to them. Ares stepped forward and spoke: "Kull, hal mek!".

The Kull stopped, turned to face each other and then knelt. Anubis walked up. "Ares, Tek'ma'te". Ares returned the greeting. "Tek'ma'te.". Sam then turned to Teal'c. "Do system lords usually, greet each other like this?" she asked.

Teal'c was just as surprised. "Indeed not. I never seen such behaviour before.". As the prisoners were lead to the dungeons, Anubis swung his arm over Ares's shoulder. "We have a lot to discuss.".

As Sam was in the holding cell, she was fiddling with her tactical vest zipper. Daniel was cleaning his glasses while Teal'c was completing kelnoreem. Sam was worried, what if Ares and Jack's cover is blown? She was nervous beyond.

But surprisingly, Anubis and Ares were drinking some kind of liquor. Anubis raised his goblet: "To your success, Shal met!". Ares raised his goblet. "Shal met.". The goblet clicked and Anubis downs his drink. While Ares was still thinking. Of course, this wasn't going unnoticed by Anubis. "You alright?". Ares nods. "Just thinking.".

"About?" asked the half ascended Goa'uld. Ares sighed as he spoke: "Why this one? Why this man as my host, Father?".

(Hows that for a plot twist?).

Anubis then said: "The most feared man in this galaxy as your host, all bows in front of you.". Ares sighed. "Is that why you tricked my mother? Into spawning me?" he asked. Anubis sighed. "Son, I knew, if I was to have a child, he will be ten times the god I am.".

Ares then looked questionable at the guy. "What if I don't want to be seen as a god?". Anubis was taken by shocked. "What!? We are the Goa'uld! We are GODS!". Ares refused to answer.

Anubis then said: "Those Tau'ri clouded your judgement, it's time I show you the real meaning of being a god.".
