Chapter 27:

Jack laid in his bed, relaxed. He couldn't think of a better life. He had Sam, he was engaged. What else does he need? Kids? He thought about it. If it was okay with Sam, he will give her a child in a heartbeat. But he had one more thing to do. The destruction of the Goa'uld. After this, he is done fighting in a war. He will go home, and be with Sam.

He sat up. Rubbing the back of his neck, the bulge/swollen part on his neck, another problem was Ares, he needs a host. Getting out of bed, he walked up to the doors and opened it big enough to slide out, he was standing on the balcony, overlooking the city. He breathed deep.

"Hey buddy, do we have any possible candidates for your future host?" he asked. Ares sighed as he spoke. "No. I am sorry. No one is willing.". Jack sighs as well. "I know. What am I gonna do?". Ares then made a suggestion. "I promised that I will sacrifice myself if-" but Jack cuts him off. "No way, if I have to carry you forever, I'll do it.".

Ares then said: "You have a future with her O'Neill. Don't waste it.". But before Jack could snap back, Sam opened the door completely and walked up to him. "Jack? Are you alright?" she asked worried. Jack nods at her. "Yeah, just got a lot on my mind.". Sam wraps her arms around his waist and hugs his back. "It's okay, everything will work out.". Jack knew she was right. But Ares has his doubts. He doesn't want his host to suffer. He and Jack might've been blended for nearly two years, but he does not want to keep Jack like this forever. So he spoke. "Samantha. If I don't find a host in time before the wedding, will you still love O'Neill?" he asked. Sam knew what he meant. "I'll always love him Ares. Always.".

Later that morning, Sam and Jack were walking around in the gardens. Sa'har was running around while Ro'tak was chasing him. The kid laughed as Ro'tak imitated being some kind of monster. Sam thought it was cute. "Jack, when we are married, do you want a kid with me?". Jack smiles. "Of course Sam.".

But then, a bell rang. Jack looked up. "Goa'uld attack.". He made a sprint for the Military Command station. There, many Jaffa were scanning the sky. One yelled. "My lord! Two motherships are in orbit. No, three, four, seven. It's an invasion!".

Jack then orders the civilians to be placed in the bomb shelters. The Jaffa were told to head to their battle stations. Jack let Ares slip in control and he turned to Sam. "Samantha Carter, I advice you to join the others in the shelters.".

Sam then crossed her arms. "Like hell I am.". Ares then said: "It's too dangerous!". Sam scoffed a laugh. "I can handle myself in a fight. Besides, someone needs to watch both your asses.". Ares chuckled. He understood why Jack loved this woman. For he was liking her more by the minute. "Very well.".

He ran to the armoury and a platform risen. He stood on the platform, a flash of light swallowed him and he appeared in the same battle armour her wore when he fought Fifth. He had a staff weapon at hand and he stepped down. "This might be our final battle. Either we win, or loose.".

Sam nods. "As long as I am by your side, I will follow you anywhere.". Jack smiled. "I'll do the same.". He walked up to her and hugged her tight. But their moment ended when Ro'tak ran in. "My lord! Gliders have been spotted!".

Jack cursed under his breathe. He placed a quick peck on Sam' cheek and made a run. He, Sam, Ro'tak and Teal'c stood at a ring device as they were transported. Once about the Ha'tak, Jack walked over to the command seat. "Update!". The young analyst then said: "Multiple ship were attacked sir, but their holding their ground.".

Ares then jumped in. "Initiate ground defences! Fire on the enemy ships!". The Jaffa did so. But another problem was at hand. "Many Kull warriors have been deployed! Attacking civilians within the city!". Ares grunted. "Is our prototype weapon operational?". The Jaffa nods. "Weapon will be online in twenty seconds!".

Ares then saw the Flagship of his enemy. "Anubis is aboard that vessel. Get me up there! I will deal with this guy myself.". The Jaffa then readied the rings. Ares walked to the rings, armed with a staff weapon and sword. Jack then spoke through to Ares. "We might not make it out of this one alive.". Ares nods. "I know.".
