Blessed
It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the sky was clear with cottony white clouds here and there, birds could be heard singing from rooftops and nests, and everyone seemed to be in a pleasant mood.
"Oh come on! You lousy bucket of bolts!
Well…almost everyone.
Keiichi Morisato sat beside his bike, the aforementioned bucket of bolts, swearing and throwing his wrench down, only slightly mollified by the abrupt 'clang' caused by the impact. His once-clean white shirt clung to his upper body in clumps from sweat, his chocolate-flavored hair hung in his eyes, and he was utterly exhausted from working on his bike, trying to fix his computer, which had crashed just two paragraphs away from completing a term paper that counted for a third of his final grade, and trying to ignore Urd and Skuld's arguing (he had a better chance of getting his bike to fly).
He leaned forward onto his knees, closing his eyes and trying to cool down. All of a sudden a cool hand touched the back of his neck, and he looked up into cerulean spheres framed by thick black lashes. Belldandy smiled at him and offered the glass of lemonade in her hand.
"You looked hot, so I thought I'd bring you something cold to drink, Keiichi." She said, still smiling sweetly at him. He took the glass absentmindedly, staring at the beautiful creature before him. One touch from her, a simple gesture, and suddenly his day didn't seem quite so terrible.
Her dress, a cornflower blue, floated around her from the slight breeze and it made her look more like an angel than a goddess. He smiled back up at her before rising to his feet and kissed her firmly on her full pink lips. Belldandy made a small noise of surprise before responding wholly. When he pulled back, her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were sparkling.
His beautiful blonde goddess smiled at him, and he found it amazing the reaction he produced from a simple upward curving of her lips. Belldandy placed her hand on his cheek and said softly, "Thank you, that was lovely." He grinned and replied, "No, thank you." Her smile widened at his words, and she then turned to return to the house. He stood there for a moment, staring after her before sitting back down on the ground to go back to his work.
As he sat there working on his busted bike, his thoughts returned to Belldandy and he realized just how blessed he was. 'Well,' he thought, 'how many guys actually get to be loved by a goddess?'
