Chapter 40:
Mark Carter was sitting on his couch, his kids playing in the backyard, he was watching the news, apparently an organization was taken down by the Air Force. He had a strong suspicion his sister was involved. But it got interrupted when someone knocked on his door. He turned his TV off and walked up to the door, opening it to see his sister. "Sam? Hey! It's been a while. Come in.".
He closed the door behind her and walked up to her. "So, how's life?". Sam shrugged at the question. "I am getting married, for real this time.". Mark chuckled. "I know, I got the invitation. So, isn't Jack O'Neill your commanding officer?". "He was." Sam corrected him. "He resigned after Pete tricked him.". Mark then got the idea. "Yeah but, isn't Abydos a city in Egypt?". (So, there is a city in Egypt named Abydos, google it, it's really interesting.). Sam then said: "It was the cover story. Mark, I need you to come with me.". The trip to Cheyenne mountain was short.
Arriving, Sergeant Harriman waited at the elevator. "Mister Markus Carter?". Mark nods. "Yeah.". Walter then handed him the papers. "Please sign this.". Mark signed it in a heartbeat. He was desperate to know what his sister does for a living, he also made a bet with his wife that it's a game changer. With his signature placed he smiled at his sister. "Anything else?".
Sam then indicated to the elevator. They rode down until they reached the level in question. Where Sam led her brother to the control room. "Mark, welcome to Stargate Command.". Mark's jaw dropped. "I knew you did something cool, but this! This is insane! What is this?". Sam smirked at her brother's interest. "Well, I travel to other planets for a living, through that." She pointed to the gate.
"So, where is your fiancé?" Mark asked after he and his sister were in her lab. Sam smiled. "Well, there is a lot you should know about him first.". Mark didn't understand. "Like?". Sam was gonna enjoy this reaction. "He's an emperor.". Mark was dumb-folded. "You're joking.". Sam shook her head. "Nope, he is currently off-world. Wanna meet him?". Mark then said: "Hell yes!".
The gate was dialled for The Capital. Sam and Mark walked through. Arriving, Teal'c walked forward. "Major Carter. Welcome, you must be Markus Carter, it's an honour.". Mark then said: "Thanks uh…". "Teal'c.". Mark then nods. "Thanks, Teal'c.".
Teal'c led them to hat looked like a Mess Hall for the soldiers. They were crowding a single table. Cheering. Sam rolled her eyes. "Oh boy.". The crowd parted so that she and the newcomer could pass through, only to find Jack and Ro'tak locked in an arm wrestle match. Ro'tak actually looked like he was struggling. While Jack was finishing his drink. He saw Sam and said: "Sam." He quickly flipped his arm, making Ro'tak fly over the table as the back of his hand suddenly touches the table. Jack stood up and said: "How's my queen? Who's this?".
Sam introduce her brother. "Jack, this is Mark, Mark, this is Jack. My fiancé.". Mark's brow dipped. "You're a lot older then I pictured you.". Sam felt offended by her brother's comment. But Jack burst into a fit of laughter. "Oh please, with Ares in my head, I can live up to 200 years.". Mark then asked: "Who's Ares?".
Ares then spoke. "That will be me.". Mark jumped at the sudden change in Jack's voice. Ares then said: "O'Neill is my host, who is also a skilled warrior, if I were you, I would be careful.". Mark then crossed his arms. "Atleast my sister's in safe hands. Please, tell me about yourself.".
