"Hah….. huff…. Ha…."

Panting and trying to catch her breath, Sena tried to understand what just happened to her. She's still in her bed, in one piece, her hands are shaking, her heartbeat is rising to the point of making her uncomfortable. She's woken up from her sleep after a strange dream that she can only partly remember. Partly is a huge overstatement, since she can only remember the abstract bits and pieces of her dream. She can only remember about something something christmas bowl something something american football something something running

Running?

Running?

Running!

She doesn't know why, but upon encountering those words she feels the sudden urge to run, it's on the same level of urgency as holding your own pee for an hour, which means she can't hold this urge any longer. She takes a look at the clock, it tells the time is 5 am. It's weird since she usually woke up at 7 am and she woke up even later on days off, and today is Saturday. She doesn't even feel sluggish waking up this early, it's the opposite, her heart is beating ever so loudly and it doesn't seem like it will stop beating so loudly in any moment. But she knows the only way to tame her raging heart, it's by running.

Without delay she grabbed her pink hoodie, training short and her sock. Wearing them in haste ending up making her fall on her back when she tried to insert her leg into her sock while standing.

"ouch"

Ignoring the pain on her back she put her socks on while laying on her back. Sneakily she opened her door then she went downstairs. She almost stepped on her cat, because she's in a hurry and doesn't look at the floor properly, thankfully she managed to dodge her sleeping cat by moving her feet right on time. Even though she's able to prevent herself from stepping on her cat, the impact to the floor wakes him up.

"I'm sorry pitt" said Sena still in her haste to reach the front door.

Wearing her shoe while sitting down to make sure she doesn't fall again, since she doesn't want to wake her parents by being loud. Once she's done tying her shoes she went outside of her home eager to start running.

Cold and fresh air touch her pale skin, inhaling them makes her more awake than she was before. Getting out of her gates, she started running. No pose, no warm up, no stretching she keeps on running. Her breath is heavy, her limbs are crying, yet she doesn't feel like stopping. Every step she takes reminds her of how fragile her body is, her joints feel like they're about to tear apart. She no longer feels like she's actually breathing instead she feels like she's drowning from how suffocating this run did to her body. While every step brings her a countless amount of pain, it also brings her a new kind of comfort. The longer and the faster she runs the more that this feeling of comfort envelops her body, it's like she's finally liberated from the chains that she doesn't even know actually exist.

She keeps on running until she finally reaches the river, she drops her body on to the riverside panting like it's the first time she ever breathes. With her face looking up to the blue sky, the realization finally kicks in. Why did she decide to run just now? It's not like she likes running, she's good at it yes but she only ever uses it when her bullies told her to buy them something. but this time it's different…. She's not forced to run, instead she runs on her own decision.

How long has she been running? She can't even tell. It could be 5 minutes, 30 minutes or maybe an hour. It's the first time she ever pushed her body to its physical limit. She's not even sure she'll be able to stand up after this.

"Am I still in a dream?"

The throbbing sensation in her muscle confirms to her that she's indeed not dreaming. She's trying to convince herself that the pain she's experiencing right now is awful, but it's useless trying to convince herself since the wide grin on her face proves that the thing she's experiencing is amazing. On one hand she's scared and uncertain by what's happening just now, but on the other hand she's ecstatic. This is probably the first time she's ever felt this euphoric. Whatever she's feeling at the moment, she doesn't want it to stop. That's why she's getting ready to start running again.

Sitting up after spending a few minutes on her back, then catching her breath she decided to finish her running session by lightly jogging to her house. She almost fell on her back again when she tried to stand up, for a moment she couldn't feel her leg. It shows how much burden she puts her leg through. Dusting off her hoody and her shorts, getting ready to run again with less intensity of course. Until she saw someone who's jogging on the opposite side of the river.

All the plans about taking it easy, and lightly jog her way home are thrown from her mind. She immediately starts to sprint all the way to the bridge in order to cross the river. She's waiting for the man to come across her. She doesn't need to wait for long, because the man in front of her is jogging at quite the high speed.

The man stopped after noticing there's someone blocking his path 10 yards away. Usually he'll sidestep any obstacle blocking his way, But not this time. The one who's blocking his path is a tiny girl with short brown hair, probably around 1,48-1,5 meter, and she probably weights around 38-42 Kg. looking at the size alone there's nothing for him to be afraid of the tiny girl in front of him. Yet the bloodlust that she emits is more than enough to keep him on his guard. The smile appeared on her face, as if taunting him to take his stance.

Her stance is the stance he has seen a thousandth times, is the stance of a running back who's trying to pass him. He can easily ignore her then goes on to continue his jogging routine. But this pressure, and her eyes…. Especially her eyes. It's the eyes of a predator who's been deprived of his meal for a really long time. The clear hunger in her eyes told him she'll never let him go before she's done with what she's about to do.

Wearing his glove on his right hand, then he signals it to her, he accepts her challenge by readying his stance. Whatever she has with her, he'll make sure to stop her without fail.

In less than a second she starts running toward his direction. The sharpness of her run is beyond belief, it's as if a bullet is coming straight at him. If he blinks even for 0.01 second, he surely will miss her. He launched his hand to stop her, the hand that managed to stop everyone who tried to pass him, the weapon that he trusts, the "spear tackle". But the weapon that he trusted, betrayed him.

The lightspeed bullet spun her body, slightly avoiding the hands that were trying to reach her. By the time he extended his arm, she's already beside him. The man's turning his body 180 degrees trying to catch her. But by the time he turns his body, she's already 6 yards away. Nonetheless he runs after her, trying to catch up with her speed, But the gap between him and her is getting wider and wider. After attempting to close the gap he realized it's useless since he can no longer see her in sight.

"did I just lost?" he said to himself, standing still bewildered after what just happen

the question appeared in his mind. His feelings are mixed between amazement and disappointment. He's amazed by the unbelievable speed he witnessed, yet he's disappointed that he lost to her. His arm fails to stop her and his legs fail to even keep up with her speed. It's the first time he encountered someone faster than him, it's also the first time he failed to stop someone from trying to pass him.

Shin Seijuro is a devout athlete who knows the flaw and strength in himself, he knows he's already stronger than most of the athletes his age, but he knows more than anyone he hasn't reached the top at least yet. His teammates have told him all kinds of praises, praise regarding his strength, praise regarding his speed, praise regarding his tenacity. but none of those admiration made him happy. Yeah his teammate saw him as a great athlete, but what's the point of being great if you're not the best. That's the reason why he controls his diet, schedules both his rest and training time. Because he knew there's more room for improvement, his speed, his technique, his strength and he won't stop until he reaches his own limit.

Today's event confirmed his doubt even more. There is indeed someone who's able to best him. It might be only in speed, but it doesn't change the fact he lost to her.

Normally you'll get discouraged when you lose at something you're confident in, it makes you doubt your own ability and what you're capable of. Shin also gets discouraged by today's event, not for long though.

Disappointed ? Of course he is disappointed, but he is by no means dispirited, In fact his spirit is more fired up than ever. He used to think the biggest adversary he'll ever face would be Agon Kongo of Shinryuuji, yet today's challenger shows him there are more opponents he need to be wary of.

No, it's too arrogant of him to think of that girl as the challenger. Since she's able to beat him, he'll face her as the challenger from now on. He might not be able to win now, but if he's granted another opportunity, he'll make sure to defeat her without fail. Talk is cheap, if he really wants to defeat her, he needs to train even more to get rid of his weakness and to increase his strength.

With a new found motivation Seijuro Shin continues his jogging routine.

While the boy she just passes continues on his own routine, Sena found herself stopped running. Overwhelmed by multiple new experiences she stopped thinking, subsequently she continued walking, not running or jogging. When she reached her house, she found out her mom and dad were frantically looking for her.

"whe… where have you been dear?" her mom ask her with tears in her eyes, her voice sounds kinda shaky

Her dad closed the phone he's holding "huff… we almost called the police to report on missing person" her dad said while wiping the sweat on his forehead. She noticed that her dad went from agitated to relaxed, after seeing her.

"I-i just went for a jog this morning" Sena said while looking down, she feels bad for making her parents worry because of her abrupt action.

"oh Sena… why don't you tell us that you went outside?"

"I don't think I have to wake you up from your sleep…. because I only planned to jog for a short while" taking a look at the clock it shows to her it's 7 am which means it's been 2 hour since she went outside. It might not be much but to her worrywart parents it means eternity.

"Do you have any idea how worried we were when we found out you were missing this morning?" her usually calm father scolds her, she can't even remember the last time her father sounds this angry.

"I'm sorry I'll make sure to notify you guys next time"

"You have to… okay, we don't mind if you wake us up. it's better than waking up not knowing where your daughter went missing"

"I'm really sorry" bowing her head she genuinely feels ashamed

"It's fine, as long as you understand. Now wash yourself, you're drenched in sweat. Breakfast will be ready once you're done taking a shower"

Slowly making her way to the bathroom she realized how much of a sheltered kid that she is. She rarely went outside, usually she spent most of her time in her room. When she went outside (which is rare) her parents gave her a time limit on how long she's allowed to go outside. When both of her parents are nowhere home, they usually ask her childhood friend mamori-sis to watch over her. It's the same when she goes outside, mamori-sis is there to accompany her.

She already knew why her parents treated her like this. She has a small and frail looking body, even for a middle schooler her age she looks like an elementary student at worst first year middle school student at best (she still wears a camisole until recently). Because of her looks she's often approached by some shady figures from time to time. Her body's not the only reason they're this overprotective, her timid nature is also one of many reasons why her parents are still worried about her. Sena is an extremely shy person, she can't say no when someone takes advantage of her shyness. Because of her nature she's a soft target for bullies to turn her into their gopher. It doesn't matter if she has speed on her arsenal, when she herself feels bad declining her bully's order.

Sena's trying to hide the fact that she's being bullied from her parents yet one way or another they found out about it anyway. They already told the school regarding their daughter's situation, but the school did nothing since the bullying hasn't reached the point of it being physical. Powerless to do anything regarding their daughter's bullying, they at least wanted to make sure she felt safe at home.

Opening the door to the bathroom, then taking off her clothes, she finally turned on the shower. The cold water running through her head to her body is able to cool her head off. Even with her head finally cooling off, she still can't make sense of the action she partook in this morning. She still doesn't know why suddenly wanted to run, but she managed to brush it off, thinking it might be just a sudden impulse that happens from time to time. What she still can't make sense of, is the act of blocking the path of someone she doesn't know who.

'why did she do that?'

'why did she block his path?'

'Why did she have the urge to pass him?'

'who is he?'

'Why did he decide to stop her using his hand?'

'How come she's able to dodge his hand?'

'blocking someone's path then running toward them is rude isn't it?'

All kinds of questions come up in her mind, but the question that sticks out to her the most is 'why does it feel natural to her?'. She's supposed to be a timid person, there's no reason for her to challenge someone who's physically is far more superior than her. It's nothing new encountering someone who's physically stronger than her, but this time it feels like she already knew him. There's a familiar sense the first time she looks at him from across the river. Not familiar in a friendly way, it's the kind of recognizing him as a fearful force that she needs to be warries of. the mere thought of her facing him again, shook her body to her core. Unexpectedly what shook her isn't fear or terror but the excitement.

'Seriously what's happening to me!'
