"YAY SENA LOOK AT THE BOARD YOUR NAME IS THERE" Mamori standing beside Sena yells at the top our her lungs feeling ecstatic that his little sister is accepted to the same school she's attending. All those night tutoring she's done to sena finally paying off in the end.
"Yes i can see it Mamori-neechan" contrary to Mamori enthusiasm Sena sounds dejected. She should be happy that she got accepted to her first choice school, instead she looks like she wanted to cry instead.
"It's a shame that we can't go to school together even though we go to the same school" Mamori referring to her job as a disciplinary committee which means she needs to arrive earlier than any other students, and she doesn't want to disrupt Sena's morning jogging routine. She still find it strange how come someone so introverted suddenly like going outside to do exercise.
All of a sudden Mamori tried to hide Sena by covering Sena with her own body. 2 boys running toward any exam taker who manages to pass, the 2 boys toss the passing exam taker to congratulate them upon passing. Sena feels a sense of familiarity toward the 2 boys who are running around tossing and congratulating the passing exam taker. One after the other they finally run toward Sena's direction, but instead of tossing her they ignore her to toss another person behind her. Sena doesn't know why but she feels sad that they ignore her, there's a sense of familiarity when Sena sees both of them. Like she's meeting an old friend, not just any old friend but a a friend who're close to her. But she tought it's not possible since it's the first time she encounter those 2 boys.
'Well maybe because they're wearing an american football uniform, hence why i feel some sense of familiarity from them'
"You see Sena-chan that's Hiruma the one person you need to avoid the most, only trouble comes from being involved with him" mamori said with serious expression
'I'm sorry Mamori-neechan but it seems like i'll be heavily involved with him in the near future' sena apologize inside her minds
"Also that throwing he did earlier is a shady way for him to make sure other will join his american football club"
'Maybe that's why i'm feeling disappointed, they don't even recognize me as potential player'
"But the guy beside him is okay, he is the opposite of Hiruma, i don't even know why he hangs out with Hiruma, maybe Kurita is like many other students being blackmailed by Hiruma…."
Mamori keeps on talking while Sena has a blank look on her face and Mamori notices it, she knows the reason why Sena has that kind of look on her face. Today should've been a happy day for Sena especially since she is accepted to the school she desperately wanted to attend. But today is also the last day she'll be able to see karin. If only today isn't the day of karin moving she'll be jumping in ecstasy from getting accepted to deimon, but alas the day is overlapped with the day she'll be separated from karin. Sena doesn't want to waste more time here, she prefers to spend it with karin, that's why she's eager to go home as soon as possible, the result on the board hardly matters for her at the moment.
For the last 2 week their friendship has blossomed, they're no longer awkward around each other, even though they had awkward moments here and there usually they just laugh it off. Karin is probably the first best friend Sena ever had, while Mamori is more like an older sister rather than a friend.
How close do Karin and Sena get over the past 2 week? Let's say that they at least have a sleepover at each other's house every night, even the skinship level is to the level of where hugging each other is normal, to sum it up they're inseparable.
The closer they're to the days of their separation the more intimate their skinship is, especially on Sena's behalf. During their sleepover Sena usually hugs Karin as if she doesn't want to let go of karin. Even when they take a bath together Sena keeps on hugging karin like she doesn't want karin to go anywhere without her. Karin finds it cute and endearing, but the amount of skinship is too much every once in a while karin almost finds it annoying when Sena latches onto her. While every once in a while it is annoying to karin she doesn't find it bad since like Sena she also enjoys Sena's company. She doesn't even mind going to school and going back from school holding hands, even though there are rumors regarding their sexuality. Those opinions hardly matter to Karin and Sena since they just want to spend as much time together with each other.
Being considerate of her little sister's lack of festivities, she decided not to talk about the school anymore. The original plan for Mamori is she wanted to take Sena on a tour around the school, but seeing that Sena isn't in the mood to go touring with her and eager to go home instead, Mamori decided to cancel her touring plan.
"Since it seems like you'd rather not be her any longer let's go home Sena-chan"
Upon hearing Mamori said that Sena takes a running stance ready to go at any moment, just a moment before she took the first step Mamori grabbed her hoodie's collar preventing Sena from running.
"We'll go home walking okay, you know that i can't keep up with you if you run"
Feeling dejected Sena obediently walks beside her older sister
The Karin family has done packing every single thing they need to pack onto the van. What's left is farewell which is hard to do since both Karin and Sena aren't familiar with saying goodbye.
"You have to make a lot of friends in deimon ok!"
'With her lovely personality i'm sure she'll make dozens of friend there"
"...you too" Sena simply nod with her head still looking down at the ground
"Make sure to memorize the card that we made during our sleepover" back during sleepover they often draw card about plays and passing route to pass the time
"...i will" Sena said with her head still looking down at the ground
"Also make sure to sums up your courage to enter deimon football club"
"...i absolutely will" there's a crack at her voice
Then karin forces Sena's head that has been looking at the ground to face her for the first time. There are tears flowing in her eyes. The reason why she keeps on looking at the ground is because she doesn't want to send off karin with tears in her eyes, she'd rather send karin off with a smile on her face.
"Ohhh Sena you know that we can still talk to each other you know" karin also tears up a bit
"Yeah I already have your number on my phone but still…." Sena's parents gave Sena a handphone as a congratulation for entering deimon, but for Sena talking through the phone is still not enough.
"I'll make sure to visit every once in a while so don't make a sad face like that, at least do it for me"
Sena suddenly hug karin, karin can feel the wetness on her clothes from Sena's tear
"Promise?"
"Yes i promise" karin seeing Sena's sweet gesture also couldn't contain her tears any longer
Both girls cry while in each other's embrace, both don't know when to stop holding at least until Mamori drags Sena away from karin. Who can blame them it's the first time they have someone who they can call a real friend. Neither of them wanted to let go, separating these 2 innocent girls would be cruel. But that the action Anezaki Mamori decided to take.
"Sena-chan you're making it hard for karin if you're hugging her like that" mamori said while trying to pull sena apart from karin
"I know but still" sena tried her best not to let karin go but eventually both need to realize they need to move on and get on with the schedule
Karin reluctantly enter the van while shouting at Sena
"SENA! I'LL MAKE SURE TO KEEP IN CONTACT SO SHOULD YOU!"
"YES I'LL MAKE SURE TO CONTACT YOU, SO YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR PHONE 24/7 ON YOU!"
"DON'T WORRY I WILL!"
Just like that the 2 friends are separated by distance
Now Sena is officially a deimon student, she is currently in the middle of orientation for the new student, but she paid no mind to it. Her head is filled with determination to join an American football club as fast as she can. Once the orientation is over usually students put their belongings onto their locker, but not for Sena.
She still feel the blues about karin, but they still keep their contact trough their phone so she's not down or anything. At least she's enthusiastic enough to finally enter the american football team in a school she is attending
She went around looking and asking the whereabouts of the American football club. Strangely there's no one in the school knows the whereabouts of the club, some of them even have a fear in their eyes when Sena mentions the American football club. Fortunately after asking an old looking man she finally got the direction towards the american football club which is behind the school.
Standing in front of the club Sena suddenly felt hesitant to open the door, thankfully she spotted the huge senpai she met from when she was accepted into deimon. Before Sena could say anything the huge senpai invite her to come inside the club
The inside of the club room is no longer what you call a mess, the perfect word to describe it is jumbled. The uniform, the paper, tea set, cookies are cluttered everywhere inside the club. There's only 3 chairs inside the club and Sena doesn't see any sign of a locker since the uniforms are laying around everywhere.
"ARE YOU THE NEW RECRUIT?! DO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE CLUB ?!….." all kinds of questions are thrown toward Sena. the huge senpai ask those questions while preparing a tea for the guest. Once he deliver the tea to Sena Kurita suddenly goes quiet waiting for Sena's answer.
Usually someone will get intimidated if someone this huge aimed their enthusiasm on to them, but for sena she feels the warm when she look at the huge senpai in front of him. It almost feels like he will protect her from any oncoming danger toward her
"Yes i wanted to join the american football senpai !" Sena answered enthusiastically
Upon hearing Sena's answer Kurita hold Sena's hand and almost lifted her
"YEAYYY FINALLY WE RECRUIT SOMEONE"
"Ouch" Sena express her pain from having her hand being crushed by Kurita
Realizing his enthusiasm hurt his junior Kurita suddenly let go oh his hand
"I'm sorry does that hurt" the gentle giant ask with a hint of worry in his voice
"A little but that's fine just this much of pain is a given once i become a regular player" Sena said to ease her senpai worries
"Wait… you want to become a player, i thought you wanted to fill in as manager" Kurita ask Sena to confirm what he's hearing
"Yes i want to become a runner to be exact" Sena said with resolve in her voice, there's a fire of ambition in her eyes. Ones who take a look at it knew for sure she's not kidding around with what she said just then
'A runner with that kind of body? She'll be a soft target if she ever become one'
"Are you really sure you wanted to become a runner?"
"Yes i have no doubt about it"
Kurita saw the fire on Sena's eye full of determination
"You're aware of the risk of being a runner in this kind of sport"
"Yes i'm aware and i don't mind getting tackled once or twice"
"Oh yeah i forgot to introduce myself i'm Kurita ryokan i'm currently playing as lineman for deimon devil bat" because of how excited Kurita is he forgot to introduce himself to Sena
'So the team name is deimon devil bat' Sena thought
"My name is Sena Kobayakawa, feel free to call me Sena, Kurita senpai. Currently i'm hoping to become a runner for deimon" responding to Kurita introduction Sena answer with her own introduction too
"By the way senpai, where are the other members?"
"Unfortunately there's only 3 ehm 2 permanent members in deimon, the other member is Hiruma he is playing as quarterback. I'm sure you've heard of his name before" Kurita is worried that Sena won't be interested to join a doomed team with only 2 members inside it, what's more one of the members is the famous demon Hiruma. But Sena's reaction is the opposite of Kurita's expectation.
"So you're saying the runner position is free right?" the excitement on her voice is noticeable
"More or less yes, but you need Hiruma approval first if you want to join the team since he is the captain"
Less than a second Kurita mentions Hiruma's name. Someone slams the door open making loud noises around the room.
A guy with pointy ears and devilish looking eyes, is staring at her. Then dismissed her entirely to yell at kurita.
"Hey fatty how many times have i told you to tidy up this dumpster (referring to the club room)" the guy yell while shooting a BB gun toward Kurita
"But everytime i clean it up you always make a mess out of it later Hiruma" Kurita complaints with a quiet voice
"Who is this shorty ? your girlfriend or some shit" Hiruma starts grinding his brain trying to identify the girl in front of him, after all he has all the data of every deimon student and teacher
'Name is Sena kobayakwa, has close relationship with Mamori anezaki, suffer from bullying problem back in the past, there's a rumour that she is a lesbian' in a matter of second Hiruma manage to recall every information about Sena but he fails to find any information correlating her with american football or why she is here in the first place.
'Is this the rumored Hiruma? He used foul language, but somehow i don't find myself uncomfortable around him, maybe those rumor are exaggerated' rather than intimidated by a man carrying a weapon on his hand, sena feels something familiar about him, it feels like he can trust whatever decision he make. And he'll be the best captain for her.
'These familiar feelings is strange, but i don't hate them'
Instead of questioning her unexplained familiarity sena decided to accept it as a part of her quirk instead
"Oh yeah Hiruma, this is our new recruit Sena kobayakawa" kurita pointing her hand toward sena
"NAME IS SENA KOBAYAKAWA I WANT TO ENTER DEIMON DEVIL BATS AS A RUNNER" Sena yells with determination
"Heh, are you sure you have what it takes to be a runner? Don't underestimate american football you shrimp" unfortunately for Sena Hiruma scoffs at her determination
Scanning Sena's body to evaluate Sena's potential as a runner, other than his height which is useful to dodge tackle she's way too small to be a runner. And he doesn't want to get in trouble with anezaki Mamori by having Sena in the club
"Can you even hold a ball with your small hands" Hiruma taunt Sena by holding a hand on his hand
Without Hiruma realizing it the ball on his hand has disappeared already, only to be found on Sena's hand.
"It looks like i have no problem holding a ball" Sena smugly taunts back
While the length between Sena and Hiruma is only 4 yard Hiruma should be able to respond when Sena approaches him. Hiruma is not even blinking yet he can't see any movement from Sena, just a brief feeling of the ball disappearing from his hand.
It's out of character for sena to taunt and act smug, but she need hiruma's approval if she wanted to join the team, and she'll use every method existed to impress hiruma.
"Outside you shorty, fatty get the stopwatch" Hiruma still in doubt order both Sena and Kurita
Currently 3 students are standing at the field
Sena still wore her uniform, even though Hiruma already offered her if she wanted to borrow the pants from the club. Sena doesn't really need it since she already wore a gym short underneath her skirt.
"That must be a fluke, don't get all smug just because I'm not paying attention brat. FATTY have you got the timer ready?"
"Uhm oh yeah, it's all set"
"Listen here shorty, all you need to do is run for 40 yards, if you reach there in 5 seconds or more you're not qualified to be our runner and you should try your luck next time"
"Yes i understand more or less"
All of a sudden Hiruma fires his bazooka to the air as an alternative of whistle
Responding to the bazooka Sena run with all his might to reach the end of the field. She's worried that she starts too late since she's surprised by the use of bazooka.
Fortunately both Hiruma and Kurita's awestruck face contradict Sena's worry
"OI FUCKING FATTY TELL ME THE TIME HURRY" Hiruma yells at Kurita demanding answer
"Uhm i-i-its 4.2 second" kurita can't believe what he's seeing and what he's seeing
"YAA~ HAAA~ WE STRUCK FUCKING GOLD" hiruma yells, probably the loudest yell he ever shout
'Christmas bowl no longer seems an irrational dream anymore, just you see musashi we'll reach there'
Even though hiruma knew the chance of winning christmas bowl with only himself and kurita is a far from possible, he put all his hopes on the new deimon student who might've the talent to bump the team possibility of winning the christmas bowl.
"Ano…. Do I pass or fail?" Sena still worried about the result ask Hiruma warily
"Of course you're you fucking shrimp" Hiruma said with a huge smile on his face
"YESSSSSS" Sena jumps overjoyed by the news delivered by Hiruma
"You can go now, we'll have team meeting after school"
"Ok thank you senpai, i'll see you after school" after saying that Sena leave to go to her morning class
"Oi fatty, have you seen anybody run like that before?"
'It looks like she's used to run at that speed since there's no sweat on her after she finished her dash"
"No….."
"The fastest record in japan currently is being hold by shin (4.4 second), which means that shrimp is our silver bullet to take down ojo"
Even 4.4 second dash is a monster speed in hiruma's eyes, the existence of 4.2 second speed is something hiruma never see in the 17 years of him being alive. Reading the second on the stopwatch is more than impressive, but seeing it first hand is unbelievable
'What kind of hellish training she went through to achieve that kind of speed' hiruma doesn't realize that speed was achieved because sena was a gobber
In Hiruma's head thousand plays suddenly open for use
"B-but Hiruma do you think it's ok to have her as an out runner?"
"What the fuck do you mean you fucking fatty"
"Well i mean she's a girl and looking at her small body isn't she too fragile to be a runner"
Kurita's worry is justified, in a run play the most vulnerable role is runner not a quarterback , not the lineman but the runner. 1 good tackle is more than enough to cause someone concussion or even broken bones. What makes it more dangerous is that the entire enemy team will try to stop the runner from gaining yards. So it's 1 against many situations.
"Not only are you fat, you're an idiot too. With that kind of speed she would be untouchable"
'Yeah no one should be able to reach that speed, not even shin'
Hiruma's grin grew wider and wider imagining the potential of the new player he acquired.
