Pokémon: Indigo League
Chapter 2: Pokémon Emergency
"That's right! I declare to the Pokémon of the world. I will be the greatest Pokémon Trainer. The greatest Pokémon Master... of all time!", ash shouted in declaration.
"And I will be the first Legendary Gym Leader and make a Legendary Gym and Pokémon Center!", Maya added before then showing Ash was dragging Pikachu along by a rope as it was very hesitant before Pikachu later jumped over to Ash's shoulder and leapt into the air as Maya noticed before Ash saw Pikachu up in midair as it then got supercharged by a bolt of lightning, and used a Thunder Shock, blasting all the Spearow to the point that after the explosion, they all took off in a panic, scattering in all directions with Maya gasping upon noticing an injured Pokémon appearing on the ground.
Narrator: Last time, Ash and Maya, our heroes from Pallet, met Pikachu, a Pokémon who was not too thrilled with its new trainer. Soon, they found themselves fighting off a flock of fearsome Spearows. Pikachu saved the day with its amazing Thunder Shock, but the electrifying encounter left Pikachu weak, and soon, Maya found a frail and injured Mew with its fate in Ash and Maya's hands.
"That's Mew! The Mythical Pokémon and the rarest of all...! But it's hurt! Badly! We have to get it and Pikachu to the Pokémon Center, and quick!", Maya shouted.
"Right!", Ash nodded.
"Pika...! (Got it...!)", Pikachu agreed.
Pokémon Emergency!
Later, a police officer in Viridian City is heard announcing something.
"Attention, citizens of Viridian City! Attention, citizens of Viridian City! We have reports of possible Pokémon thieves in our area! Be on the lookout for suspicious looking strangers! Repeat - Be on the lookout for suspicious looking...", the officer spoke before she saw Ash and Maya rushing to the Pokémon Center.
"Huh? Speak of the Devil?", the officer puzzled.
"We've crossed the border of Viridian City. The Pokémon Center is further down the road. I'll know it when we see it. Please hang on, Mew.", Maya assured.
"Pika Pikachu! (You can make it, Mew!)", Pikachu assured.
"Yeah, we're almost there.", Ash agreed before the officer stopped both Ash and Maya.
"Hold it! And just where do you two think you're going with that Pokémon, young man? And who's that Pokémon you're carrying, young lady?", the officer asked.
"It's my Pokémon and it's hurt! And we gotta get it and Mew to the hospital right away!", Ash angrily responded.
"Wait. Did you say 'Mew'?", the officer puzzled.
"Yeah, that Pikachu was attacked by a flock of angry Spearow. They ran us all the way to the dirt before that little guy shocked them all. But it was hurt in the process. And before you ask, he's my little brother and as for the Pokémon I'm carrying, I just found it wounded like this. Pikachu may be barely all right, but Mew doesn't have much time left.", Maya spoke worriedly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you might be stealing them. Just show me your IDs and you can all go.", the officer assured, surprising Ash.
"ID? Ugh... I don't have any. You see we just came hear from Pallet and we-", Ash began.
"Hold on a sec. You mean an ID in our Poké Dexes, right?", Maya asked as she got out her Poké Dex and showed it to the officer with Maya's face shown in it.
"I am Patrika. A Poké Dex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokémon Trainer Maya Ketchum of the town of Pallet. My function is to provide Maya with information and advice regarding Pokémon and their training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced.", Maya's Poké Dex spoke.
"Wow. So, our Poké Dexes are our IDs? I didn't know that.", Ash puzzled in surprise.
"Not exactly, but they all have each trainer's IDs in it. Give it a try.", Maya responded.
"Okay, but I'm kinda new at this.", Ash spoke before he then pulled up an ID, at least at a cautious pace.
"I'm Dexter. A Pokédex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum of the town of Pallet. My function is to provide Ash with information and advice regarding Pokémon and their training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced.", Ash's Poké Dex spoke.
"You know, you two are the fourth and fifth people I've seen today from Pallet Town.", the officer spoke.
"The fourth?", Ash puzzled.
"Fifth?", Maya puzzled.
"Oh... That means Gary Oak's here already.", Ash groaned.
"Look. I don't know who this Gary Oaks is, exactly, but all that matters now is that we get both Pikachu and Mew to the Pokémon Center.", Maya urged.
"It's very unusual for someone to carry a Pokémon around in his arms and not in a Pokéball.", the officer spoke.
"Well, the thing is, Pikachu doesn't like to get in the Poké Ball.", Maya explained.
"It doesn't, huh? How do I know you two didn't steal those Pokémon?", the officer asked.
"I don't think I like the implication of your accusation! I'd never do something like that and neither would he!", Maya scolded.
"Okay, okay. Just calm down.", the officer spoke.
"Please let us through. We wouldn't steal a Pokémon and we've got to get Pikachu and Mew to the hospital. Please, Miss.", Ash spoke.
"I'll get you two there in no time at all.", the officer assured.
"Thank you very much, Officer...", Maya began.
"Jenny. Officer Jenny.", Jenny responded.
"Right. Thank you, Officer Jenny.", Maya grinned before later, she and Ash, with Pikachu and Mew in tow, were already in the biped with Maya just behind Jenny.
"Sit back, hold on, and don't yell.", Officer Jenny warned before the Police Bike took off in a cloud of dust.
"WHOA!", Ash and Maya exclaimed, inadvertently leaving Misty, who was carrying her charred bike, in the dust.
"Hey, what's the big idea? Come back here!", Misty shouted as she went after them.
But suddenly, a fishing hook caught the wanted poster outside the police station and pulled it up to a hot air balloon.
"A wanted poster. How flattering." a woman with dark crimson, spiraling hair spoke.
"Flattering? This picture makes me look terrible.", a man with blue hair responded.
"Then, you should be happy that the photographer captured the real you.", the woman spoke.
"Exactly, Jessie.", the man agreed.
"We'll show these bumpkins.", Jessie spoke.
"The people of Viridian City will be sorry they ever saw this face.", the man added before a sort of cat-like Pokémon opened its eyes and spoke.
"Never mind your face, James. If we want to save the boss', and ours, we gotta focus and capture rare and unusual Pokémon, even that Mew.", Meowth stated.
"Absolutely.", Jessie agreed.
"But, of course.", James concurred.
"And I'm the top cat. Don't forget it.", Meowth stated.
"You got it, chum.", James added.
"Meowth.", Meowth grinned.
Meanwhile, on the ground, the group neared the Pokémon Center.
"There it is.", officer Jenny spoke as the center soon came into view.
"The Pokémon Center. It's gigantic.", Ash commented.
"I know, it's huge!", Maya agreed.
"This is tricky. Just hold on. Here we go!", Officer Jenny warned before she hopped her bike onto the entryway.
"That's not necessary!", Maya exclaimed in worry before the bike came to a screeching stop at the front desk.
"We have a driveway, you know.", the nurse spoke.
"It's a Pokémon emergency.", Officer Jenny urged.
"Pikachu and Mew are in trouble. Can you please help them?", Maya asked.
"What? Mew? Are you sure?", the nurse asked before Maya nodded.
"We'll do what we can. I need a couple of stretchers for a small electric Pokémon and a small Pokémon, stat!", the nurse urged before some Chansey's appeared with said stretchers.
"Chansey!", the Chancey spoke as they arrived before the nurse put on some gloves.
"It'll be okay. Rush those Pokémon to the critical care unit.", the nurse urged.
"Chansey!", the Chansey spoke.
"We'll begin the treatment right away.", the nurse assured.
"Uh...", Ash puzzled.
"Get well soon, Mew...", Maya spoke in worry to Mew as she held out her Poké Dex and took its picture.
"Who are you?", the nurse asked.
"Their names are Ash and Maya, Nurse Joy. They're the Pokémon's Trainer.", Officer Jenny explained.
"Actually, Pikachu is Ash's Pokémon. I just brought Mew on our way here to help Pikachu recover, but it looks like Mew's in worse shape than Pikachu right now.", Maya responded, puzzling Pikachu.
"Pika...?", Pikachu puzzled.
"If there's anything I can do, please just tell me.", Ash said.
"You can be more responsible. If you want to became a Pokémon trainer, young man, you don't let your Pokémon battle till it's this condition.", Nurse Joy scolded.
"But you don't know what happened.", Ash responded in shock.
"Yeah, we barely escaped a flock of angry Spearows from the outskirts of Pallet Town! We tried to save it from them, but it saved us instead!", Maya added.
"Thank you for telling me, but what's past is past. Now, we have to heal Mew and your Pikachu, Ash.", Nurse Joy spoke.
"What can I do?", Ash asked.
"Just leave everything to me.", Nurse Joy assured.
"Please.", Ash spoke.
"Don't worry, Ash. Nurse Joy has it covered.", Maya assured.
"It's in your hands. I know you'll give the Pokémon excellent care.", Officer Jenny grinned.
"You got it here just in time.", Nurse Joy spoke.
"That's my job.", Officer Jenny grinned before she realized something.
"Oh my goodness. I left my motorcycle parked at the front desk.", Officer Jenny realized.
"Next time use the driveway.", Nurse Joy spoke before Officer Jenny chuckled and ran sheepishly to her bike.
"Uh, Nurse Joy? Don't you think you should...?", Maya began.
"I was just getting to that. Ash, you and your sister will have to go to the waiting room.", Nurse Joy advised.
"Can't I...?", Ash began.
"Pika Pika... (Don't worry...)", Pikachu assured, puzzling Ash.
"Pika Pikachu... (We'll be all right...)", Pikachu assured as it and Mew were then carted over to the ER.
"Pikachu...", Ash spoke in slight worry, if not awe.
Time passed by, and neither Pikachu nor Mew had come out yet, ,ainly because the former was keeping watch over the latter, who was being examined more closely due to how injured it was, worrying the electric mouse Pokémon.
"Pikachu... (You can make it...)", Pikachu assured.
Meanwhile, Ash and Maya were just as worried for Pikachu and Mew.
"I hope Pikachu and Mew aren't hurt too bad.", Maya spoke before she and Ash noticed the phones nearby.
"I'll call home.", Ash spoke before Maya nodded.
At Ash's house, Delia just got out of the shower as the apparent computer-like phone rang, shouting, "Ring, ring, ring! Ring, ring, ring! Phone call! Phone call!" before Delia answered.
"Hello, this is the Ketchum residence.", Delia spoke.
"Hello, Mom?", Ash asked.
"Hi, honey. Is everything okay?", Delia asked.
"Well, not exactly, no...", Maya sighed.
"What's wrong? Where are you two, Ash?", Delia asked.
"The Pokémon Center in Viridian City.", Ash replied.
"You're already in Viridian City? It took your father four days to get there when he started Pokémon training. Oh, he'll be so proud. You're the apple of his eye.", Delia grinned.
"Yeah, more like a rotten apple...", Ash groaned.
"Oh Ash, don't get discouraged. You're doing fine, honey.", Delia spoke.
"But you don't understand. You see, the thing that went wrong was... Mom, we were just attacked by an angry flock of spearows and Pikachu risked its life to save us when we didn't ask it to. That's the reason we're here.", Maya responded.
"What? Pikachu's been hurt?!", Delia exclaimed.
"Yeah. We barely escaped with our lives and Pikachu's.", Ash responded.
"That's horrible...!", Delia spoke.
"But Pikachu's not the only one. On our way here, we've found another injured Pokémon that's in even worse shape. I couldn't bare to see it hurt like this, so we had to take it there, too. But for all I know, it might be too late...", Maya spoke sadly, starting to tear up and sob a little.
"Oh, honey. I am so sorry to hear that... What was that Pokémon you found that was injured?", Delia asked.
"Well... You see..., the Pokémon we found was Mew...", Maya sniffled.
"What? You found Mew? Are you sure?", Delia asked.
"I'm not making it up, Mom! See for yourself!", Maya responded, showing her a picture of the injured Mew via Poké Dex.
"Oh. You weren't kidding. It was badly hurt. Good thing you brought it over here, though. You two're growing up right before my eyes, spreading your wings and soaring like a Spearow.", Delia grinned.
"I feel more like a fallen Pidgey.", Ash commented.
"I won't let you talk about yourself that way. Just be confident! You can do anything that you set your mind to. Do you understand?", Delia asked.
"Yes.", Ash replied.
"And are you changing your underwear every day?", Delia asked.
"Yes.", Ash replied.
"OK. Goodnight, you two. I love you.", Delia spoke.
"Us too, Mom. Bye.", Ash spoke before hanging up.
But no sooner had he done so that he noticed the stone Pokémon murals.
"Hey. Wow. That's the flying Pokémon I saw.", Ash noticed.
"Wait a minute, I don't think that's it. If anything, one of those murals showed an Arcanine. And those must be the Three Legendary Birds! Moltres, the bird of fire. Zapdos, the bird of lightning. And Articuno, the bird of ice.", Maya responded before she heard a computer phone ring out loud.
"Who could be calling the Pokémon Center when Nurse Joy is tending to a patient at this hour?", Maya puzzled before Ash picked up the phone and answered.
"This is Ash. Who's calling?", Ash asked.
"Here! I'm over here.", Oak spoke before a stone picture moved to reveal Professor Oak talking through a video phone camera.
"It's Professor Oak. Don't you recognize me?", Oak spoke.
"Oh, Professor. It's you! Sorry about that. It's just kinda hard to recognize the back of your head.", Maya spoke.
"Oh, wrong camera. There. I just spoke with your mother and she tells me you and Maya have made it to the Pokémon Center in Viridian City. Is that correct?", Oak asked.
"We couldn't be talking to you if we weren't here.", Ash stated.
"You couldn't be talking if you.. Oh I see. I dialed the Pokémon Center in Viridian City and you are able to answer.", Professor Oak responded.
"Yeah, because that's where we are.", Ash replied.
"I suppose that proves it; the other new Pokémon trainers made it there with no problem and I'm pleasantly surprised you two got there so soon. I admit when you two left, I had my doubts that you could handle your Pikachu, but when my grandson Gary said that you wouldn't have a single new Pokemon by the time you got to Viridian City. I bet him a million dollars that he'd be wrong.", Oak responded.
"Oh. Well, actually, I caught a Pidgey with Maya's help. That counts, right?", Ash grinned.
"Oh, that's splendid, Ash!", Oak grinned.
"I also saw a flying Pokémon like that one. It flew right over the rainbow.", Ash added.
"I know you're getting excited, but don't talk such nonsense. You couldn't have seen this Pokémon. Trainers have searched their whole lives and never seen it.", Oak spoke.
"Well, it sure looked like it.", Ash responded.
"You must have been mistaken.", Oak spoke.
"It's true. I saw, it too. And that's not all. We found Mew while we were on our way to the Pokémon Center, but it was injured.", Maya added.
"Come now, Maya. You, too?", Oak puzzled.
"I figured you wouldn't believe me, so...", Maya spoke before she pulled out a picture of Mew and showed it to Professor Oak.
"That's the picture I took while we were on our way.", Maya stated.
"Oh, my! You actually found Mew?! But it's the rarest of all Pokémon! That means you very well might be the first to catch it!", Oak spoke in surprise.
"I know. But not for longer if Mew doesn't pull through...", Maya spoke worriedly.
"Doesn't pull through? Oh. I can already tell that you're worried about Mew's condition. Well, not to worry, it'll be patched up soon.", Oak assured before he heard a doorbell ringing.
"Ah, There's my pizza, coming. It was very nice talking to you, Ash. And good luck to you, Maya. Mmm, anchovy, spinach and pineapple pizza.", Oak spoke before the message ended.
"Who would eat that stuff?", Maya puzzled.
"Now I got you two!", Misty shouted, catching Ash and Maya's attention.

Misty was panting angrily as she was carrying her burnt bike.
"I knew I'd find you two here.", Misty sneered.
"Hey, what happened to your bike?", Ash puzzled.
"What happened to my bike? You happened to my bike, you little loser! This is what's left after you stole it to save your Pokémon!", Misty scolded.
"Oh, no...!", Maya groaned upon realizing what must've happened as it flashed back to Pikachu scaring the Spearows off with a Thunder Shock, but not without shocking the bike as well.
"Back before...", Maya added.
"Now I can see why your Pokémon is in - whoaoaoaoah!", Misty exclaimed as she lost her balance and fell, prompting Ash to go over to her.
"Let me help you.", Ash offered only for Misty to slap his hand away.
"I don't need your help and you're gonna pay for what you did to my bike!", Misty spoke angrily.
"I'll make up for it. I promise I will, really. But I can't do anything about your bike until...", Ash began before Misty angrily interrupted.
"I don't want any of your lame excuses, kid! I just want a new bike right now!", Misty shouted, not even caring about what happened to Pikachu and Mew (not that she knew at the moment).
"That was the last straw for Maya.
"WILL YOU SHUT UP?! I told you that we'd try and get your bike back to you in one piece, but you didn't believe me, not once! Now, here we are, worried sick about not only Ash's Pikachu but also the Mew that we found in critical condition, and all you care about is your stupid bike! Are you kidding me right now?! Why don't you do us a favor and leave, because you're not helping at all! My own brother is already questioning whether or not he's a capable trainer enough as it is when the Pokémon he chose was really hurt and you yelling at him is only making it worse! I'll have you know my brother is a phenomenal trainer and he will be the best in his own way!", Maya scolded quickly, shocking Misty while Ash was quite surprised.
"Maya...?", Ash spoke up.
"What is it?", Maya asked, still sour from what Misty was shouting earlier before Ash hugged Maya, surprising her.
"Hey!", Maya exclaimed.
"Thanks for believing in me.", Ash thanked with a slight grin.
"Uh..., you're welcome?", Maya responded.
"Wait. You said the Pokémon you brought in was Mew and it's in critical condition?", Misty asked.
"Like you'd even care. But, yeah.", Maya glared, turning away toward the treatment light.
"My Pikachu is not too good.", Ash added as he and Misty also looked at the treatment light.
"Is it very serious?", Misty asked.
"I think so. And there's nothing we can do to help now.", Ash replied.
"Oh... Sorry about the attitude just now. Could we just start over?", Misty asked before Maya only turned away angrily.
She could not forgive Misty for caring more about her bike than the Pokémon in critical condition. Or could she...?
"Well..., I guess it's not all your fault. You weren't there with us when they wound up in critical condition, so naturally, you don't know what happened. If anything, I'm sorry about your bike. Tell you what. While we wait, I'll go fix up your bike for you.", Maya assured.
"Really? You'd do that?", Misty asked.
"Sure. After all, my dad did teach me how to fix bicycles before he left home.", Maya grinned.
Soon, time passed as a half-hour had passed.
"And there. That should do it.", Maya grinned.
"Wow. It looks brand new. Thanks.", Misty thanked.
"Don't mention it.", Maya responded before the treatment light went off with Pikachu and Mew rolled out on stretchers.
"Pikachu, are you alright?", Ash asked.
"Mew, are you okay?", Maya asked as she picked Mew up.
"Wait. That's the Pokémon you found? A mythical Pokémon?!", Misty asked in surprise.
"Yeah.", Maya nodded.
"Mew...", Mew spoke weakly before it then weakly, but just as kindly, licked Ash and Maya's cheeks gently.
"Your Pikachu's resting. It's a good thing you got it here so fast. The procedure went well and it should be fine.", Nurse Joy assured.
"Thanks to the Pokémon Center.", Misty grinned.
"Yes, thank you very much.", Ash thanked.
"You know, that Mew was actually easy to heal like any other Pokémon.", Nurse Joy grinned before Maya nodded.
"Now your Pokémon need a good rest in the recovery room. You and Maya should go in with them, Ash.", Nurse Joy suggested.
"Thanks.", Ash agreed before turning to Misty.
"Listen, I'm sorry about your bike. But I'm gonna need some time to make things right.", Ash apologized.
"Well, you should take care of Pikachu now and we'll settle up later.", Misty suggested.
"Okay.", Ash replied before Mew turned to Misty and then grew nervous and cautious from the sight of her.
"What's wrong?", Misty asked a bit sadly.
"Oh. I guess it just needed to get used to you. Kinda like how it needed to get used to us when we first met it. And that was several hours ago.", Maya assured before a sudden announcement on the intercom sounded with Officer Jenny relaying the news.
"Your attention, please! Our Viridian City radar systems have detected an aircraft belonging to a gang of Pokémon thieves. If you have a Pokémon in your possession, exercise extreme caution.", Officer Jenny advised as the woman chuckled.
"Guess we woke up this sleepy dump.", the woman spoke.
"And how dare they treat us like criminals? They should welcome Team Rocket.", the man spoke.
"Well, we'll teach them to respect that name.", the woman assured.
"Meowth, and when we get that Mew back and snatch all their Pokémon, those scared little mice will know I'm that top cat.
"We know, Meowth. We know. Ekans, Koffing, attack!", the man and woman shouted as they tossed out their two Poké Balls, which crashed through the sunroof and then released two Pokémon named Ekans and Koffing.
"Koffing! ('Ka-boom!')", Koffing spoke.
"Ekans! ('Dinnertime!')", Ekans added before the former Pokémon then created a smokescreen with its own gasses.
"Huh? Where'd those two Pokémon come from?", Maya asked worriedly.
"Mew?", Mew puzzled in just as much worry.
"Koffing! ('Beware!')", Koffing spoke as he then spread some smoke.
"What are...? Who are they?", Ash puzzled.
"Don't be frightened, little boy. Prepare for trouble.", the woman responded.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves. And make it double.", the man added.
"To protect the world from devastation.", the woman began.
"To unite all peoples within our nation.", the man added.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love.", the woman added.
"To extend our reach to the stars above.", the man added.
"Jessie.", Jessie introduced.
"James.", James introduced.
"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light.", Jessie added.
"Surrender now or prepare to fight.", James added.
"Meowth, that's right.", Meowth added as he jumped in, making Mew exclaim in fright before moving behind Maya.
"Huh? What's wrong?", Maya puzzled before Mew peeped out from behind Maya, floating.
"Are those the people who hurt you?", Maya asked.
"Mew.", Mew nodded.
"What are you talking about?:, Ash puzzled.
"He just doesn't get it, does he?", Jessie said.
"How can I? You don't make any sense.", Ash responded.
"We're here for the Pokémon.", james replied.
"Forget it! You're not getting Pikachu!", Ash shouted.
"Pikachu? We're not interested in your precious electric rat.", Jessie responded.
"We only seek rare and valuable Pokémon.", James added.
"Yeah, like that Mew hiding behind the twerpette.", Meowth added.
"You're wasting your time. This is a Center for weak and injured Pokémon.", Nurse Joy retorted.
"Well, that may be so, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we find a few little Pokémon gems to go with Mew among all the junk.", Jessie added.
"That's awful! How could you do that to innocent creatures who haven't done anything to you, especially this sweet, cute, and innocent Mew who was just minding its own business?! You people are just so evil! We're not letting you get your hands on any of these Pokémon!", Maya shouted, cradling Mew.
"Oh, yes, you are.", Jessie smirked.
"We don't really care what you think.", James added.
"Meowth, than let's squash 'em!", meowth added.
"Koffing, attack!", James shouted.
"Ekans, go!", Jessie added.
"Run for it!", Maya shouted before she, Ash, Misty, and Nurse Joy all ran with Pikachu in tow as Koffing and Ekans lunged forward, destroying the front desk computer/video phone.
"Koffing! (Come out!)", Koffing spoke.
"Ekans! (I will ssswallow you whole!)", Ekans added as everyone hid in one of the rooms while Ekans and Koffing continued in the direction they think they went.
"Koffing! (I am toxic!)", Koffing exclaimed.
"Ekans! (Dinner!)", Ekans added before the two cut the power of the Pokémon Center, causing the lights to go out.
"Hey, the lights!", Misty exclaimed.
"What happened?", Maya asked.
"They must have cut the power, but we've got our own Pika power source.", Nurse Joy grinned before soon, the lights came on, thanks to a bunch of Pikachu running forward, holding each other's tails while moving forward on a circular conveyor belt, as our group can see.
"Wow, look at all the Pikachu.", Misty grinned.
"Wow... A Pikachu powered emergency generator!", Maya grinned in awe.
"A crisis situation has arisen. Initiating Emergency Pokéball Transport sequence.", the computer spoke as Nurse Joy started an emergency transport.
"We have to save those Pokéballs. This is the Viridian City Pokémon Center. We have an emergency situation. Transporting Pokéballs.", Nurse Joy exclaimed
"This is the Pewter City Pokémon Center. Out-loader activated, ready to receive Poké Balls.", the computer spoke before, as the Pokéballs are transported, Ekans and Koffing burst in, causing the Poké Balls to fall to the floor.
"Oh, no! They've found us!", Maya shouted.
"Get those Pokéballs!", Nurse Joy urged.
"Right.", Ash agreed before he picked one up.
"This is war. Don't just hold them, throw them!", Misty urged.
"All right. Poké Ball, here we go.", Ash shouted as he tossed one before a Pidgey popped out.
"Pidgey.", Pidgey spoke.
"Wait. Is that Pidgey yours?", Maya puzzled.
"I don't think so.", Ash replied.
"That thing can't beat us.", Jessie smirked before Pidgey ran away after seeing how much bigger Ekans is compared to it, or in this case, flew away.
"Sorry, little guy!", Ash apologized as he then returned Pidgey back in its Poké Ball.
"Guess I'll try this one. Go, Poké Ball!", Ash shouted before he tossed it only to find one problem: it was empty!
"Empty?", Ash spoke in shock.
"Some of the Poké Balls are empty.", Nurse Joy explained.
"Now, she tells me.", Ash spoke.
"We're never gonna beat them that way!", Misty shouted.
"Hope this one works. Go, Poké Ball!", ash shouted as he tossed another Poké Ball out, this time, releasing a Rattata.
"Rrrrrattata!", Rattata exclaimed.
"Heh. Pipsqueak.", James smirked.
"Meowth.", Meowth agreed before Rattata ran away after seeing how much bigger Koffing is next to it.
"Sorry!", Ash shouted before returning Rattata to its Poké Ball.
"Well, those aren't any help. No offense.", Maya stated.
"I guess I'm gonna have to take this into my own hands. You two grab your Pikachu along with that Mew and get out of here. I'll take care of these three clowns.", Misty spoke, leaving Mew in awe.
"Oh, no you won't. At least not alone. Charmander, come out!", Maya shouted before releasing her Charmander from its Poké Ball.
"Char? (Yeah?)", Charmander asked.
"I need you to help Misty out while Ash and I keep Pikachu and Mew safe. Can you do that?", Maya asked.
"Char Char. (No problem.)", Charmander agreed.
"Thanks for the help, but those would work just as fine.", Misty assured.
"That's pretty big talk coming from such a little lady.", Jessie smirked.
"At least you're right about the pretty part. Thanks for the compliment.", Misty smirked back.
"Heh. The girl thinks she's pretty.", James smirked.
"I agree with her. I think she's pretty, too. Pretty pathetic.", Jessie concurred, making Misty mad.
"I'll show you. Poké Ball, go!", Misty shouted before it released a Goldeen, which materialized and flopped around, making Team Rocket laugh.
"Goldeen, return.", Misty shouted before Goldeen was then recalled.
"That's her best shot?", Jesse laughed.
"She's all washed up.", James agreed.
"You know as well as I do that water Pokémon can't battle on land. I was just warming up.", Misty stated.
"Warming up?", Ash puzzled.
"That's where Charmander comes in.", Maya explained.
"Just take Mew and Pikachu and get out of here.", Misty whispered.
"Right.", Ash replied.
"Hang in there, Mew. It's gonna be okay.", Maya assured to Mew as she and Ash took off.
"Koffing! (After them!)
"Ekans! ("You won't essscape!)", Ekans added with Ash and Maya taking Pikachu and Mew and making a run for it with Ekans and Koffing right behind them.
"Koffing! (Hand over that Mew!)
"Ekans! (Or else we'll have to ssstrike!)", Ekans added.
"Leave us alone!", Maya shouted as she and Ash ran before the two tripped, the impact enough to wake up Pikachu, who blinked its eyes.
"Looks like it won't be long now.", Jessie smirked.
"That Mew is as good as ours.", James agreed.
"No, it's not! Charmander, use flamethrower!", Misty shouted.
"Char...mander! (Take...this!)", Charmander shouted, spewing out fire toward the generator, letting loose a flock of Pikachu, which all burst out, taking Jessie, James, and Meowth by surprise as they flocked past them.
"Yipes! A stampede of mice!", Meowth exclaimed.
"Pika, Pika? (Where am I?)", Pikachu puzzled before several more Pikachu piled themselves onto Pikachu, astonishing Ash, Maya, and Mew (who lifted its head up and down in awe, seeing numerous Pikachu piling themselves onto Ash's Pikachu.
"Where are they all coming from?", Maya puzzled.
"Over here!", Misty shouted, waving as she and Nurse Joy ran out.
"Misty? What did you...?", Maya began.
"Let's just say I made for some effective misdirection.", Misty smirked in response before several Pikachus piled onto Ash's Pikachu and then all zapped Jessie, James, Ekans, and Koffing with multiple Thunder Shocks at once.
Soon after, Pikachu recovered and got up on top of the Pikachu that powered the emergency generator.
"Pikachu. (I'm recharged!)", Pikachu grinned.
"Pikachu!", Ash grinned.
"Whoa! Did you just see that?", Maya asked.
"I did, and I can't believe it!", Misty replied.
"And it looks like that jolt recharged Pikachu!", Nurse Joy guessed.
"Mew!", Mew spoke up, going over to Maya's cheek while floating.
"Mew! Thank goodness you're okay.", Maya grinned, hugging the mythical Pokémon before Meowth landed on the ground in front of the burned Jessie, James, Ekans, and Koffing.
"I can't go anywhere with you numbskulls! Just you wait, Pikachu! You're as good as cat food!", Meowth spoke, stepping forward, making the Ketchums growl before Pikachu spoke up.
"Pika, Pika, Pika, Pika! ('I want more power, give me more power, Pika Pika Power, give it to me!')", Pikachu spoke up.
"Pika, Pika?", Ash asked.
"Pika! ('Yes!')", Pikachu nodded.
"Pika Pika Power?", Ash asked.
"Pika! ('Yeah!')", Pikachu repleid.
"You want more power...? You got it, Pikachu!", Ash said before he got on the burnt up bike and started pedaling, with Pikachu connected to it.
"What's that?", Meowth puzzled.
"Don't underestimate, Pikachu, Meowth. Pikachu and I are gonna show you our true power!", Ash replied as he pedaled faster and faster until the light on the burnt bike turned on, worrying Team Rocket.
"Uh?", Jessie puzzled.
"Oh...", James added.
"Wha...?", Meowth added worriedly before Pikachu got on and started charging up.
"Pika Pika, Pikachu! ('I have the power, Pika Power!')", Pikachu shouted, firing its thunder shock at Team Rocket.
The shock hits all five of them at once.
"Whoa!", Misty and Maya spoke in awe before Mew laughed at quite a big shock with James grunting in shock, literal shock, that is.
"Yipes!", Meowth exclaimed before Ekans exclaimed as did Jessie, James, and Meowth in succession.
But very soon, Koffing was spewing some gas in its shock.
"KooooooooooffIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!", Koffing exclaimed as the thunderbolt caused the gas to explode, creating a massive explosion which destroyed the Pokémon Center just as Officer Jenny arrived.
"Too late. But not for the fireworks.", Officer Jenny guessed.
Later, we see Jessie, James and Meowth were hanging on to a rope from their balloon.
"Great, to think that a mouse would defeat the cat.", Jessie
"Hey, that Pikachu was givin' off major Gigawatts.", meowth responded.
"It certainly is rare, even more so than Mew.", James guessed.
"Then, let's catch it.", Jessie responded.
"Maybe we will.", Meowth agreed before, very soon, their balloon ripped and sent them flying into the night.
The next day, Nurse Joy was talking with another Nurse Joy on the only working computer left after the explosion.
"Your Viridian City Pokémon were transported here safely.", the other Nurse Joy assured.
"Thanks, sis. Ash, Maya, Misty, Pikachu, and Mew are heading your way to Pewter City. If they can get safely through the Viridian Forest.", Nurse Joy
"Don't worry, from what I've seen, those five can take pretty good care of themselves.", Officer Jenny assured.
"Well, I hope you're right.", Nurse Joy responded.
In the forest, Mew was floating around Maya while following her, Ash, and Pikachu.
"How long has it been since Mew started following us now?", Maya asked.
"Since before sunup.", Ash replied.
Then, Maya quickly realized what it meant.
"Wait a second. Mew, you actually want to go with us?", Maya asked.
"Mew.", Mew nodded, slightly surprising Maya with a touched gasp before she then gave a tearful look of joy.
"Well, we did save Mew back there.", Ash guessed before Maya got out a Poké Ball and enlarging it with a press of a button.
"Well..., if that's what you want, Mew..., go, Poké Ball!", Maya shouted as she then launched it toward Mew, who then pressed the button on the Poké Ball with its paw, opening it and causing it to suck Mew inside before closing and landing on the ground.
When it did, after a few moments of shaking as the center button glowed red, the Poké Ball finally let loose some stars as the shaking stopped and a clicking noise was heard.
"I... I can't believe it...! I actually caught Mew!", Maya shouted excitedly before grabbing her Poké Ball and then releasing Mew, who then flew around excitedly.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're with us, Mew!", Maya grinned.
"Yeah. Now, you get to be best buds with my Pikachu.", Ash grinned.
"Pikachu. (That's right.)", Pikachu agreed.
Mew then wrapped its tail around Maya's neck gently, giggling.
"Okay, Mew. Say 'cheese'.", Maya spoke before taking a picture of the recently recovered Mew sitting on Maya's shoulder as its tail was gently wrapped around Maya before Misty suddenly screamed loudly and ran toward Ash and Maya.
"What's wrong, Misty?", Ash asked.
"Look. Over there.", Misty whimpered, gesturing to the source of her fright.
"Wait. Is that...?", Maya puzzled.
"It's a Caterpie. Cool! It's one of the bug Pokémon.", Ash spoke.
"Even if it is a Pokémon, bugs are disgusting and I don't like them! Do something!", Misty whimpered in fright.
"All right. Stand back. This one's a piece of cake.", Ash assured as he got out an empty Poké Ball and brought it to full size by pushing the center button with Ash and Caterpie having a stare-off as Maya and Mew looked on.
"Go, Poké Ball!", Ash shouted as he tossed his Poké Ball toward Caterpie.
Narrator: Will Ash capture the Caterpie? What will happen with Mew joining Ash, Maya, Misty, and Pikachu? What sinister plans are being concocted by Team Rocket? All the answers to come as the journey continues.
A/N: So, what'd you think about the 2nd chapter? Pretty great, huh? Who knows what would happen this time with Mew joining Ash and the others, well, apart from Team Rocket coming after Mew as well, this time? Guess we'll find out for sure in the near future. :)
