A/N: Sorry it took long, but I finally have the next chapter for "Pokémon: Indigo League" ready. And in this one, we'd get to see a few famous flashback scenes involving Mew's escapades in the Kanto region. :)

Chapter 4: Challenge of the Samurai
Play Pokémon: Let's Go Music: Title Screen
"That's right! I declare to the Pokémon of the world. I will be the greatest Pokémon Trainer. The greatest Pokémon Master... of all time!", Ash shouted in declaration.
"And I will be the first Legendary Gym Leader and make a Legendary Gym and Pokémon Center!", Maya added before then showing Ash was dragging Pikachu along by a rope as it was very hesitant before Pikachu later jumped over to Ash's shoulder and leapt into the air as Maya noticed before Ash saw Pikachu up in midair as it then got supercharged by a bolt of lightning, and used a Thunder Shock, blasting all the Spearow to the point that after the explosion, they all took off in a panic, scattering in all directions with Maya gasping upon noticing an injured Pokémon appearing on the ground.
Narrator: As their adventures began, Ash and Maya, our heroes from Pallet, met Pikachu, a Pokémon who wasn't too thrilled with its new trainer. A flock of angry Spearows nearly finished them off, but the injured Pikachu saved the day with its Thunder Shock power. And soon after, Ash and Maya encountered Mew, the Mythical Pokémon.
"That's Mew! The Mythical Pokémon and the rarest of all...! But it's hurt! Badly! We have to get it and Pikachu to the Pokémon Center, and quick!", Maya shouted.
"Right!", Ash nodded.
"Pika...! (Got it...!)", Pikachu agreed before it then showed both Pikachu and Mew on stretchers just prior to Koffing creating a smokescreen to start the ambush.
Narrator: "Pikachu and Mew regained their health at the Pokémon Center in Viridian City, which soon found itself under attack."
"What are...? Who are they?", Ash puzzled before the smoke cleared to show the perpetrators responsible.
"Jessie.", Jessie introduced.
"James.", James introduced.
"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light.", Jessie added.
"Surrender now or prepare to fight.", James added.
"Meowth, that's right.", Meowth added as he jumped in, making Mew exclaim in fright before moving behind Maya, who became puzzled as Mew peeped out from behind Maya, floating before it then showed Koffing and Ekans chasing after Ash and Maya, the latter two of which tripped and fell onto the ground prior to several Pikachu jumping onto Ash's Pikachu and zapped Jessie, James, Ekans, and Koffing with multiple Thunder Shocks at once. Soon after, Pikachu recovered and got up on top of the Pikachu that powered the emergency generator.
Narrator: "That IS right. While tracking down Mew, they attacked the Pokémon Center, hoping to steal some rare Pokémon.
"Pikachu. (I'm recharged!)", Pikachu grinned.
"Pikachu!", Ash grinned.
"Whoa! Did you just see that?", Maya asked.
"I did, and I can't believe it!", Misty replied.
"And it looks like that jolt recharged Pikachu!", Nurse Joy guessed before Pikachu got on and started charging up.
"Pika Pika, Pikachu! ('I have the power, Pika Power!')", Pikachu shouted, firing its thunder shock at Team Rocket.
The shock hits all five of them at once.
"Whoa!", Misty and Maya spoke in awe before Mew laughed at quite a big shock, literal shock, that is.
But very soon, Koffing was spewing some gas in its shock.
"KooooooooooffIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!", Koffing exclaimed as the thunderbolt caused the gas to explode, creating a massive explosion which destroyed the Pokémon Center before it later showed Caterpie getting caught by Ash via Poké Ball.
Narrator: "But their sinister plans were thwarted by Ash and Pikachu, who next journeyed into the Viridian Forest where Ash made his next catch."
"All right, I did it! I did it! I got Caterpie! And this time, I did it all by myself!", Ash shouted happily as Maya grinned as did Mew before Ash took Misty's hand and started running around with her.
"This is the first step on my way to becoming the number one Pokémon master in the whole world.", Ash grinned with a bit of laughter.
"Hey! Wait a minute. I'm getting dizzy! Ash, you're gonna get me sick! Quit it!", Misty exclaimed as Pikachu tried to keep its eyes on Ash and Misty only to wind up dizzy before collapsing backwards.
"Look out, Pokémon! Nothing's gonna stop me now!", Ash grinned before it then showed Ash catching Pidgeotto next.
Narrator: "Next, he caught Pidgeotto."
"All right! We got Pidgeotto!", Ash grinned as he got out two fingers raised upward as did Pikachu.
"Pikachu! (Congratulations!)", Pikachu grinned.
"You did great, Ash!", Maya grinned.
"Mew.", Mew nodded before it showed Caterpie spraying out mist-like silk from the mouth and covering itself with its own substance.
Narrator: "And even more surprises were to come."
"Wait. Is it...?", Maya puzzled with Mew in just as much awe.
"It's evolving!", Misty guessed before the evolution into a sort of shell Pokémon was complete.
Narrator: "Caterpie evolved into Metapod."

A loud squeal echoed through the forest and birds took flight in fright. Ash, Maya, Pikachu, and Mew were staring at Misty, who currently has her legs wrapped around the branch of a tree and was making a high pitched moaning noise
"What's wrong now?", Maya asked.
"I think I see another buuuug!" cries Misty, "GROSS!"
"Another one? What do you think that is?", Maya puzzled.
"Maybe it's a..." starts Ash, then suddenly appears dressed in a cow's costume, "COW-TERPIE!"
"EHHH!" gasps Misty, the branch breaking and dropping her to the ground while Maya tripped to the ground as well and Pikachu slams its face into the dirt in response to Ash's terrible joke, although only Mew whacked Ash in the back of his head with its tail and then giggled.
"Do us a favor Ash, and never tell jokes that bad again...", Maya groaned.
"Yeah! That's not even funny! You know I hate bugs and I saw one right over there!", Misty exclaimed.
And indeed it is, a funny yellow worm-looking Pokémon with a small horn on it's head. It crawls closer and a frightened Misty swings behind Ash, pressing her body close to his.
"Hey, that's a Weedle.", Maya stated before Ash, being Ash, simply stepped forward, whipping out Dexter to find out more about this Pokémon.
"Weedle. The stinger on this Pokémon's head guarantees that any attacker will get the point right where it hurts.", Dexter stated.
"A stinger, huh? Now there's a challenge.", Ash said.
"Yeah, especially with a second on at the back of it like a small tail.", Maya added.
"Why are you excited about a bug with two stingers? Make it go away!", Misty pleaded.
"You gotta be kidding! You can't possibly expect a great Pokémon trainer like me to let a Weedle escape. I'm gonna catch it!", Ash stated before he reached for a Poké Ball, but realized his mistake before he can make it.
"Oh, yeah, I almost forgot! You have to weaken a Pokémon before you can capture it. Let's go, Pikachu.", Ash said before everyone almost falls over in disbelief when they see Pikachu sleeping.
"I guess it's gonna be some time before you earn Pikachu's respect. After all, a trainer must earn the respect of the Pokémon. The Pokémon doesn't just give its trainer respect right out of the Poké Ball.", Maya said.
"Taking a nap, huh? Okay. There's still Pidgeotto and Metapod to do the job.", Ash said.
"You deserve to have your head examined.", Misty responded before she quickly looks down in horror as once again her leg is used as a post by Weedle, who was going up against her thigh.
She is, understandably enough, horrified by this turn of events and sped away, screaming.
"Don't just stand there, catch it!", Misty urged.
"Well, when you put it like that... Pidgeotto, I choose you!", Ash shouted as he then released Pidgeotto.
"Nice. You're actually taking our advice on Pokémon type match-ups. Either that or you're just bringing out your strongest Pokémon first. Well, either way, it's not much of a surprise.", Maya said.
"Mew.", Mew nodded.
"Pidgeotto, use Gust Attack!", Ash shouted.
Frankly, Pidgeotto was more than willing to do this and sent Weedle flying with several flaps of its wings. Flying high in the air, Pidgeotto swoops down and sends the shocked Weedle tumbling about all over the ground, dizzy and disorientated and ready to be captured.
"Great work, Pidgeotto!", Ash grinned as his Pokémon does all the work for him.
"I wonder. Where did Misty run off to?", Maya puzzled.
"Mew?", Mew puzzled.
Meanwhile, Misty has had enough and was getting the heck out.
"This whole forest is crawling with slimy, disgusting Pokémon. I wish they'd all just bug off!", Misty shouted as she strode angrily through the forest.
As she rambles on angrily, however, she is watched from the trees, not by a bug but rather by an infinitely more dangerous opponent. Unsheathing its sword, the sound captures Misty's attention and she turns just in time to see a screaming figure hurtling towards her with sword unsheathed, frightening her until he stopped, pointing his katana at Misty.
"Greetings, oh shrieking maiden.", the little samurai greeted, holding the edge of his sword mere inches from Misty's face, "Are you by chance the Pokémon trainers who come from Pallet?"
"Uhhhh... no," quavers Misty, "That's not me."
"Alas, my search continues.", the samurai sighed, putting his sword back in its sheath and turning around.
"I advise you to refrain from further shrieking while passing through this forest, unless your goal is to attract a horde of Beedrills.", the samurai warned.
And with that, he walks away, sword sheathed and a butterfly net slung across his back.
"What a weird kid," sighs Misty, dropping to her knees and watching the samurai depart, "I wonder why he'd be looking for a Pokémon Trainer from... UH! That's Ash!"
Sure enough, it was as meanwhile, so far, Ash's Pidgeotto is doing a rather good job of putting a whupping on Weedle. It swoops in once again on it's opponent, which lowers it's head, glints it's horn then pounces forward to strike.
"Pidgeotto, watch out for its Poison Sting!", Ash warned.
Thankfully, though, Pidgeotto has already got this figured, however, and twists aside so that the attack misses.
"Ha! Nice work!", Ash grinned.
Pidgeotto then turns and swoops down once again, sending Weedle flying and crashing to the ground where it lays hurt and disorientated, no longer able to fight back.
"Okay, I got you now.", Ash grinned as he got out a Poké Ball.
"Weedle, I've got you now! Go, Poké Ball!", Ash shouted before he tossed his Poké Ball toward Weedle and successfully caught it, trapping it inside before the ball shook a few times and clicked.
"Yeah! I caught it!", Ash shouted before he picked up the Poké Ball.
"Pidgeotto, return!", Ash shouted before Pidgeotto was recalled back in its Poké Ball.
"Great work, Ash.", Maya grinned.
At that moment, the sandalled wonderer appeared.
"Greetings. Am I addressing the Pokémon trainers who comes from Pallet?", the stranger asked.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm a Pokémon Trainer from Pallet.", Ash replied.
"Me, too.", Maya added.
"I have found you at last!", the samurai shouted before he unsheathed his katana.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!", Misty shouted, prompting Ash to turn to see him.
"HIIIIII-YAAAAA!", the samurai shouted.
"Mew, use Psychic! Quick!", Maya shouted.
"Mew!", Mew agreed before its eyes glowed bright blue, causing the samurai to be lifted up in the air, much to his surprise.
"What is this? How am I being lifted off the ground?", the samurai asked.
"Seriously! Where's the honor in using a sword to threaten us just to steal our Pokémon?!", Maya scolded.
"I am no Pokémon thief.", the Samurai stated.
"You're not?", Maya puzzled.
"Mew?", Mew puzzled before letting go of him with the samurai landing on the ground.
"Who are you then?", Misty puzzled.
"I AM SAMURAI!" proclaims Samurai, pulling his sword away from Ash's face, "I am also shrewd, fearless and completely invincible in combat! I have been searching the forest for you two!"
"What do you want from us?" asks Ash, not getting it as always.
"A Pokémon match!" announced Samurai, holding up his Pokéball, "Let us see who triumphs!"
Ash and Misty stand staring at the odd, socially maladjusted little punk.
"Pika? (A match?)", Pikachu puzzled.
"A match? Sure. I bet I can beat you in a Pokémon match blindfolded.", Ash bet.
"There is one way to find out.", the Samurai said.
"Uh, maybe let me go first, Ash. We got this covered.", Maya suggested.
"Pikachu. (Sounds like a challenge.)", Pikachu thought as it blinked.
"Come out, Metapod!", Ash said, releasing Metapod, who materialized.
"Wanna go watch the fight, Metapod? Mew's about to go up against a trainer.", Ash said.
"Metapod.", Metapod responded.
Soon, both combatants are ready.
"Okay, Mew, do your stuff!", Maya grinned.
"Mew.", Mew nodded.
"Pinsir, assume battle mode!", Samurai shouted as he released Pinsir from his Poké Ball.
"Whoa! He's got a Pinsir!", Ash said as he got out Dexter.
"Pinsir. This fearsome Pokémon uses its powerful claws to put the squeeze on its opponents.", Dexter stated.
"That Pinsir looks pretty tough.", Ash said.
"It may be strong, but you can beat it, Mew!", Maya assured.
"We'll see. Pinsir, Tackle it!", Samurai ordered before Pinsir moved in to tackle Mew.
"Mew, dodge it!", Maya shouted before Mew did so and dodged every single one of Pinsir's attacks before giggling.
"What?! This is inconceivable!", Samurai exclaimed.
"Mew, use Psychic, now!", Maya shouted before Mew then used Psychic on Pinsir, lift it up and push it toward a far-off tree on the other side, making it faint as it had swirls for eyes.
"Wow! Mew did it.", Ash spoke in surprise.
"Nice work, Mew.", Maya grinned.
"Mew.", Mew grinned.
"Pinsir, return!", Samurai exclaimed before Pinsir was recalled back to its Poké Ball.
"Clever, quite clever.", Samurai said.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is wandering around the forest in a tank they made.
"I'm tired!", James whined.
"James, stop whining!", Jessie exclaimed.
"But, Jessie, what's the point of dragging this tank around?", James groaned.
"To protect us from Beedrills. Ever been stung by one? It hurts!", Jessie replied.
"Hey, quit chattering down there! Get a move on!", Meowth ordered.
"Why aren't YOU down there?!", Jessie exclaimed.
"And helping us for that matter?", James added.
"Gee, I'd love to help, but I'm only a foot and four inches, so I'm riding lookout.", Meowth replied.
"Oh, yeah?! Well, look out for this!", Jessie exclaimed before she and James headbutted the tank, causing Meowth to scream and fall off the tank and run after them.
"Hey, wait a second, you guys! Come baaaaack!", Meowth whined, trying to catch up.
Meanwhile, Samurai tossed out his Poké Ball.
"Pokéball, go!", Samurai shouted before a Metapod materialized.
"A Metapod? That's just like mine.", Ash said.
"Metapod, use Harden!", Samurai shouted before Metapod hardened as instructed.
"Mew, use Psychic to lift it up!", Maya urged before Mew used Psychic again and lifted the Metapod up in the air.
"Mew.", Mew grinned.
"Good. Now spin it until it gets dizzy!", Maya urged.
"Mew-ew. MEW!", Mew exclaimed as it then started spinning Metapod around and then tossed it to the ground, revealing that Metapod was now dizzy and fainted, evident by the spirals on its eyes.
"I've been bested!", Samurai exclaimed.
"Oh, yeah! Way to go, you two!", Ash cheered.
"Thanks, Ash.", Maya grinned as Mew went over to Maya and giggled as it wrapped its tail neatly around her neck and sat down on her shoulder.
"Metapod, return.", Samurai said before he recalled it back in its Poké Ball.
"Not bad. Tell me. What is your name?", Samurai asked.
"My name? It's Maya.", Maya responded out of puzzlement.
"Well, Maya. It seems you are the superior trainer.", Samurai said.
"Me...? Really? Although, I could stand to give Charmander a chance to battle again one of these days.", Maya puzzled.
Then, right on cue, a buzzing sound was heard and got louder.
"Huh? What's that noise?", Misty asked.
"Sounds like... Beedrill!", Maya shouted, making Mew exclaim in worry.
"Correct! A Beedrill swarm approaches!", Samurai agreed.
"I think there might be over 50 of them!", Maya said in worry as Ash got out Dexter again and saw a picture of a Beedrill.
"Beedrill. This Pokémon is an evolved form of Weedle, following its Kakuna stage. Its sting is highly poisonous.", Dexter stated.
"I think we'd all better get out of here and quick!", Maya urged.
"Excellent idea!" Samurai agreed before he and the others ran off.
But not long after, Ash and Maya noticed one of the Beedrill grabbing and flying off with Metapod.
"Oh no! Ash, that Beedrill just Poké-napped your Metapod!", Maya said in worry.
"Metapod, return, now!", Ash urged as he tried to recall Metapod, but the Beedrill moved fast enough to avoid the recall beam and flew off deeper into the forest.
"Oh, no! Metapod!", Ash said in worry.
"Beedrill bomber at six o'clock!", Maya shouted before Pikachu quickly leapt up and shouted.
"Pikachu! (Thunder Shock!)", Pikachu exclaimed, successfully zapping Beedrill, but also shocking Ash as well, prompting Beedrill to fly away dizzily.
"Nice move, Pikachu. But next time, try to warn Ash before you do that.", Maya blushed a bit.
"Come on! Let's move it!", Misty urged as she grabbed Ash's arm and urged him away as she and Maya ran as well with Pikachu and Mew following.
"But Metapod...", Ash said in worry.
"We'll come up with a plan to rescue Metapod later, but for now, let's just run!", Maya urged.

The Beedrill swarm was chasing after Samurai, Ash, Maya, Misty, Pikachu, and Mew.
"They're gaining on us!", Misty shouted in worry.
"Beedrills are pretty fast!", Maya explained.
"Pikachu! (Hurry up!)", Pikachu exclaimed.
"Quick! Duck in there!", Maya shouted before everyone dove into a bush and hid from the swarm, which only flew in a straight-forward direction, much to their relief.
But that relief was not to last as Maya noticed something.
"Uh oh. Nobody. Make. Any. Sudden. Noises. Or movements.", Maya warned with a frightened whisper before everyone soon saw what Maya saw.
"A whole hive of Kakunas.", Samurai said before Misty screamed slightly only to earn a shush from Maya.
"Not so loud. Do you WANT to wake those things up?", Maya whispered before Ash got out Dexter again.
"Kakuna. A transitional stage between Weedle and Beedrill. Kakunas remain inactive until they evolve into deadly Beedrills and hatch.", Dexter stated.
Then, Mew nudged Ash and pointed at his Metapod within the Kakuna hive.
"Hey. That's Metapod...! I'm gonna try and get it back.", Ash said with a whisper.
"Great idea, but we have to be quiet.", Maya urged, earning Ash's nod.
"Misty, I know you're afraid of bugs, so you'll need to stay put here.", Maya suggested.
"No argument here.", Misty agreed with a bit of nervous laughter.
Then, the group snuck in quietly and carefully toward the tree where Metapod was before Ash picked it up.
"All right! I got it!", Ash shouted before the Kakuna then glared its way toward Ash.
"Oh, no. We've been spotted...!", Maya squeaked before the Kakunas started cracking and a bright white glow came from within.
Right afterwards, the newly evolved Beedrills emerged with the bright light then dimming down.
"Beedrills! They evolved!", Misty said in worry.
"SBEE!", one of the Beedrills shouted as it and the others quickly went on the offensive.
"RUN FOR IT! AGAIN!", Maya shouted before she, Mew, and the others ran for it again with the Beedrills in hot pursuit.
Soon, though, they spotted a cabin up ahead.
"My cabin! I think we can make it!", Samurai shouted before everyone eventually managed to get inside just as one Beedrill stuck its back stinger through the door.
"Phew. That was close.", Ash sighed, holding Metapod in his arms.
"Yeah, too close for comfort. But at least we got Metapod back.", Maya sighed as Mew panted.
"Sorry about what happened back there, Metapod. That was on me.", Ash responded.
"Metapod, Metapod. (Apology accepted, Ash.)", Metapod responded before Samurai took off his helmet as our heroes caught their breath.
"I hope you've learned your lesson, novice!", Samurai said.
"Hey, take that novice crack back!", Ash shouted.
"I do take it back because not even a novice would abandon his own Pokémon as you did.", Samurai argued.
"Abandoned it?! I saved it!", Ash argued.
"Actually, we all did.", Maya added.
"Mew.", Mew added.
"Regardless, the other trainers from Pallet would never have been so irresponsible.", Samurai responded.
"Wait. Other trainers from Pallet?", Ash asked.
"Did you have a match against Gary and the other trainers from Pallet?", Maya asked before Samurai replied back as a flashback of his first 3 defeats began as Charmander roasted Pinsir, Squirtle knocked back Metapod, and Bulbasaur hung Pinsir upside down.
"Correct. There were three spectacular matches, each more challenging than the last. Those trainers really knew how to raise Pokémon. Even though I was defeated all three times, I was inspired to redouble my own training. I had been eagerly preparing for that day when, finally, I would beat the next Pokémon trainer from Pallet. And then came you, Maya, along with the Mythical Pokémon, Mew, of all Pokémon, as your partner.", Samurai responded.
"Mew?", Mew puzzled.
"So THAT'S why you've been waiting around here for Ash and Maya to show up.", Misty said.
"Compared to Maya and those other three, Novice, here, is a joke!", Samurai responded.
"Hey. My brother may be just starting out, but he's actually really great! He's even managed to to beat these three troublemakers that have given us so much trouble! Someday, he'll be the greatest Pokémon master of all time.", Maya responded, certainly leaving a sort of impression on Ash.
Later that night, Ash could not fall asleep as he stayed awake and was outside, not knowing that Mew woke up and turned to see him.
"Mew?", Mew spoke before it then flew over to Ash and stopped near him.
"Huh? Mew? What are you doing out here?", Ash pondered.
"Mew. Mew, Mew. (You've been outside the whole time.)", Mew spoke.
"Huh?", Ash puzzled before noticing how dark it is.
"Oh. I guess I have been outside longer than I thought, haven't I?", Ash grinned a bit before Mew flew over to Ash's hat and landed on it gently, puzzling him.
"Mew...", Mew said.
"Huh? You want to stay out here with me?", Ash puzzled.
"Mew.", Mew nodded.
"Well, all right...", Ash said before he and Mew looked up and saw several stars around the moon.
"So, I heard how you saved Kangaskhan's baby from falling off a cliff. That was 5 years ago, right?", Ash asked before Mew squeaked in reply.
"I wonder how it's doing now. Come to think of it, how did it get to that cliff anyway?", Ash puzzled.
Then, Mew looked out to the full moon and thought back to 5 years ago when it met a certain Drill Pokémon.
"Nido!", Nidoking said before it then showed it growling as Mew floated around, not yet knowing that two children, a boy with black hair and a short-sleeved shirt with Gengar on it and a girl with purple hair with a braid from the back of her head, were watching.
"It's a Nidoking! Hold on.", the boy said as he not only noticed a Nidoking, but also Mew with the girl puzzled.
Mew then spun forward and giggled. This angered Nidoking as it obviously wasn't going to take this lying down.
"Nido!", Nidoking shouted as it used Earth Power to try and teach it a lesson.
"Meep!", Mew exclaimed as that failed due to Mew teleporting away, making Earth Power miss it entirely.
"It vanished!", the boy exclaimed before Mew reappeared behind Nidoking.
"Mew.", Mew squealed, surprising Nidoking in puzzlement.
"You're kidding!", the boy exclaimed.
"Mew-ew. MEW!", Mew exclaimed as it then turned the tables and used Earth Power right back at Nidoking.
"Nid...!", Nidoking exclaimed as it took the brunt of its own attack, lost its balance in a dizzy haze, and fell backwards, which was more than enough to give Mew a good laugh out of it.
"It just used the same move as Nidoking.", the boy guessed.
Of course, that wasn't enough to get Nidoking down, much less out.
"Nido!", Nidoking shouted.
In an attempt to retaliate, it had launched Sludge Wave against it.
"Mew.", Mew said as it teleported away before it could land and reappeared just like before.
"Mew. Mew, Mew!", Mew exclaimed as it then used Sludge Wave on it, using its own attack against it once more.
"It used the same move again.", the boy said.
However, it was only a matter of time as Nidoking got fired up and then pounded its chest repeatedly. It was mad.
"NIDO!", Nidoking shouted as it then fired its Fire Blast toward Mew.
"Mew.", Mew said as it vanished and reappeared quickly before it could hit.
"Mew, Mew!", Mew said as, to add insult to injury, it used Fire Blast against Nidoking, who suffered an inevitable and possibly humiliating defeat.
"It's playing around by using the same moves as Nidoking.", the boy guessed before Nidoking then tipped backward, covered in soot form the explosion, and fainted.
"Who's that Pokémon?", the boy asked before it turned around to see the two children.
"Mew? Mew.", Mew as it took off from noticing the two children, urging the young boy to chase after Mew.
"Goh, wait up!", the girl shouted before she followed Goh as he chased after Mew.
"Mew.", Mew said as Goh ran after it with the girl chasing Goh.
"Goh, come on! Wait up!", the girl complained.
"Now, where'd that Pokémon go?", Goh asked as he stopped while he girl barely caught up, panting for breath.
"Oh, will you hold on?", the girl asked exasperatedly.
"Magmar.", the magmar said before Goh and the girl turned to see it.
"A Magmar.", Goh said insurprise.
But it wasn't a Magmar at all. It suddenly morphed back into none other than Mew, who giggled and flew away with Goh chasing after it.
"Hey, Goh!", the girl exclaimed as she ran after him with Mew turning back to notice and giggling before using transform again, but this time, it became a Tauros.
"Now, it turned into a Tauros!", Goh exclaimed before "Tauros" leapt up into the air with a bellowing moo, turned back into Mew, and then turned into Lapras as it landed in the water.
"And now, it's a Lapras! It won't get away from me!", Goh said determinedly as he ran on the ground alongside Lapras.
"Goh!", Chloe shouted, trying to catch up to Goh.
Back in the present, Ash was quite surprised by what he learned.
"Hold on. Somebody saw you during your battle and tried to catch up with you?", Ash asked.
"Mew.", Mew nodded.
"And you can turn into other Pokémon as well? Wow. So, what happened next?", Ash asked.
Then, Mew thought about what happened next, most likely to a point involving Kangaskhan's baby. At one point, it was lost and saw what was thought to be a Lapras, but it was actually Mew as it then flew over to the baby, revealing its true form and playing around by teleporting around the baby, which found it quite enjoyable. But it was right then that Goh and his friend were walking down the path near the forest.
"I just know it flew over this way.", Goh said as he led the way.
"But Goh, we've got to get back to the group now! I'm sure Professor Oak's worried about us!", the girl urged as Mew then decided to float back up with the baby was following after it as well as climbing up a rock wall.
Sometime later, though, Mew led the baby to the top of the small cliff and floated around as the baby jumped around with glee, neither one knowing that below, Pichu and Kangaskhan noticed it.
"Kangaskhan.", Kangaskhan said before Mew waved goodbye to the baby.
"Mew, Mew.", Mew said before flying away, apparently upsetting the baby, which unfortunately broke apiece of the small cliff off and then fell down with it with Kangaskhan and Pichu noticing.
"Kangaskhan!", Kangaskhan shouted before Pichu gasped.
"PICHU!", Pichu screamed in horror.
Fortunately, Mew did not go far as it stopped and turned around to see what was happening.
"Look out!", the girl shouted in worry.
It seemed like the baby was doomed as it screamed while falling. But Mew wouldn't let it happen if it could help it.
"Mew!", Mew said as, luckily, it used Psychic to stop the baby's descent, much to Kangaskhan, Pichu, and Goh's surprise while the girl had her eyes covered in horror.
Soon after, the rocks around the baby fell to the river while the baby itself was still floating, although gently going down with Kangaskhan grabbing its baby gently.
Having witnessed its good deed, Mew happily flew away before it again went back to the present.
"I get it... You made the same mistake I made just earlier today and made up for it by saving it. I guess we're a bit alike that way, huh?", Ash guessed.
"Mew.", Mew grinned before giggling as it nuzzled against Ash, making him giggle as Maya watched from past the door with a grin.
"I just wish I saw you earlier at Pokémon Camp, Mew. But other than that, it's great to have you here with us.", Ash said.
"Mew.", Mew grinned.
The next morning when all the bug types were still asleep, Ash relayed Mew's story to Metapod, Pikachu, and Weedle, leaving the first of the three quite surprised to say the least while the rest were amazed.
"And that's how it happened. Pretty surprising, huh, Metapod?", Ash asked.
"Metapod. (It sure is.)", Metapod responded.
"Mew-ew. (It's true.)", Mew grinned.
"Weedle?" (It is?)", Weedle puzzled.
"Pika Pika. (I was there.)", Pikachu said before Ash giggled.
Suddenly, however, Meowth got the jump on Ash, landing on his head.
"Ah!", Ash exclaimed.
"Pika?", Pikachu puzzled.
"Wanna guess what my favorite game is?", Meowth asked.
"Hey, get off!", Ash shouted before Mew used Psychic on Meowth to lift it up and push it out of Ash's head toward the grass.
"Hey, what's the big idea interrupting my joke like that?! That was plain rude!", Meowth exclaimed.
"Meowth? If you're here, then that means...", Ash began.
"Guess who?", James shouted.
"It's you two!", Ash spoke up.
"Prepare for trouble! The early bird gets the worm.", Jessie said.
"And make it double! It can only squirm.", James added.
"To protect the world from devastation!", Jessie added.
"To unite all people within our nation!", James added.
"To denou...", Jessie began before Ash interrupted.
"Do you guys think you could keep it down a little?", Ash interrupted, peeving Jessie as she growled.
"Interrupting the Team Rocket motto is very rude, you know!", Jessie growled.
"Butou don't understand...", Ash began before Jessie cleared her throat.
"Ahem! To denounce the evils of truth and love!", Jessie continued.
"To extend our reach to the stars above!", James added.
"Jessie!", Jessie grinned.
"And James!", James smirked.
"I'm serious. You're gonna wake up the Beedrill!", Ash urged whisperingly.
"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!", Jessie added.
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!", James added.
"Meowth! Daaaaaat's right!", Meowth shouted before fireworks were ignited behind Team Rocket.
Unfortunately, the Beedrill woke up and lividly spot the intruders.
"SBEEEE!", Beedrill shouted before Ash screamed in panic.
"There's no use trying to resist us, twerp, so why don't you be smart and give us your Pikachu and that twerpette's Mew?", Jessie asked.
"I don't have the time to deal with you guys now, and even if I did, I'd never let you take them!", Ash shouted before he and Pikachu ran while Ash picked up both Metapod and Weedle.
"Mew.", Mew said as it followed Ash and the others.
"Come back here!", Jessie and James shouted in unison as they gave chase.
"If we can make it past those Beedrill, they'll dive bomb Team Rocket.", Ash said.
"Pika.", Pikachu agreed.
Unfortunately, the Beedrill captured Metapod once again.
"Ah! Not again!", Ash shouted before Mew then used Psychic on the Beedrill that captured Metapod, freezing it in place, before then using it to bring Metapod back to Ash.
"Thanks, Mew. You're the best.", Ash grinned before Mew giggled in response.
Suddenly, a glowing light shined from a forming crack in Metapod's shell.
"Pika Pika! (No way!)", Pikachu spoke in awe.
Meanwhile, Maya, Misty, and Samurai were awoken by the bright light.
"Huh? What's that light?", Misty puzzled.
"Guys? You might want to look at this.", maya said before Misty and Samurai caught up to Maya and saw the source of the bright light.
From the crack and the fading light, emerged Butterfree.
"Freeee freeee! (I have wings and I can fly!)", Butterfree grinned.
"Wow... Butterfree...", Ash grinned.
"Butterfree's so beautiful.", Misty grinned.
"Pika! (Wow!)", Pikachu grinned.
"Well, that's a surprise to hear from someone with Entomophobia.", Maya grinned.
Then, Ash scanned Butterfree's entry.
"Butterfree. One week after Caterpie evolves into Metapod, it again evolves into Butterfree.", Dexter stated.
"But it seemed like only a day since Caterpie evolved. I just don't get it.", Maya said.
Meanwhile, the Beedrill swarmed around Team Rocket.
"The tank we brought with us will surely come in handy now!", Jessie grinned.
"It was worth the struggle dragging it here.", James agreed before he lifted up only for both to notice that several Weedle were already chewing at the tank.
"Yipes! They're eating the tank, you dopes!", Meowth exclaimed.
"But we made it out of paper to reduce the weight!", James exclaimed.
"Who knew?", Jessie asked before Meowth groaned in disgust.
Then, the Beedrills continued after Team Rocket, forcing them to retreat with a scream just as another wave appeared.
"Here comes the other Beedrill!", Misty urged.
"Free! (Ash!)", Butterfree shouted.
"Butterfree...", Ash said.
"Free free freefree! (Let me fight them!)", Butterfree responded.
"Yeah...! Okay! Butterfree, use Sleep Powder!", Ash shouted before Butterfree used Sleep Powder as the Beedrill drew close.

After a moment, one Beedrill fell, then another, and another. Butterfree kept using Sleep Powder over and over, it also put the Weedles to sleep as well as Team Rocket.
"All right! You put all of them to sleep! Butterfree, you're amazing!", Ash said before laughing in relief.
"Okay, Mew. Time to put the Beedrill and Weedles back.", Maya said.
"Mew.", Mew nodded before it then used Psychic to put both the Beedrill and Weedles back in their nest, although not without putting Team Rocket in the same spot with a mischievous giggle.
"Meeeeeeew.", Mew giggled.
"You were able to handle your Pokémon so well, just after it evolved! Most impressive.", Samurai grinned.
"Pikachu. (I agree.)", Pikachu grinned.
"Weedle. (Me, too.)", Weedle nodded.
"See? I told you he'd be the greatest Pokémon master of all time someday.", Maya grinned.
Soon, Samurai and our heroes are at the exit of the forest.
"This trail will lead you to Pewter City.", Samurai said.
"That's great. But before we leave, Samurai, I was hoping I can still have a match with you.", Ash said.
"Compared with you and Maya, my friend, I am the novice. But I will keep perfecting my technique, and one day, we will meet again.", Samurai said.
"I'm sure it's gonna be an awesome match.", Ash said.
"Pikachu. (Agreed.)", Pikachu agreed.
"That is guaranteed.", Samurai said.
"Until then, Samurai.", Ash said as he waved.
"See ya!", Misty waved as well.
"Pikachu! (Bye, Samurai!)", Pikachu waved.
"Farewell, Samurai!", Maya shouted.
"Mew, Mew. (Goodbye, Samurai.)", Mew waved as it and the others took their leave.
"Farewell.", Samurai said as the group left before Mew teleported away and reappeared near the tree.
Narrator: Having grown deeper in their bonds and with Team Rocket thwarted for now, Ash, Maya, and their friends leave the Viridian Forest, and set their sights on Pewter City.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket was up in a tree and wrapped up like cocoons.
"Do you have anymore bright ideas, Jessie?", James asked.
"Well, unlike you, at least I have ideas.", Jessie retorted.
"Yeah, and they're all bad!", Meowth argued.
"Who asked you?!", Jessie exclaimed.
However, all the fussing they made not only woke up the Beedrill in the tree, but also awakened the Kakuna, prompting them to glare toward the intruders.
"Uh-oh.", James said.
"Oh, no.", Jessie grunted before the Beedrill started stinging the trio as Mew reappeared and watched just in time as Team Rocket grunted and groaned in pain while saying "Ouch" and "Ow".
"Meeeeeeeeeew.", Mew giggled before vanishing from the area near the tree as the Beedrill did their work.
A/N: Looks like Mew's enjoying itself, doesn't it? In any case, the next episode involves Ash's 1st Gym Battle against Brock in the Pewter City Gym. Who knows what would happen this time with Maya and Mew involved? We'll know for sure soon enough.
