Team Hot Air Part One
Introduction: This story was largely inspired by The Smart Flame by Tigerstriker, in which Natsu and Wendy are brother and sister. I really like the two of them as sibling figures as many others do. This story is but part one and will likely cover the two of them joining Fairy Tail together as kids, making friends with the guild members, until the end of the Galuna Island Arc. Part Two shall be made taking place after Edolas, and we'll see what happens from there. I don't think I'll be able to do an entire rewrite of Fairy Tail, but you never know. A story about how things could have been if at least Wendy had not been separated from Natsu after the Dragon Slayers emerged in the current time of Fiore.
Relationships for this Fanfic:
Natsu-Wendy: Brother and Sister Figures
Natsu-Lisanna: Crushes
Natsu-Lucy: Crushes though they don't know it.
Lucy-Lisanna: Rivals but not enemies.
I love the fanfics revolving around Nawen siblings relationships, the romance ones are good as well, though I prefer Nali as my main ship even though I know that's probably not gonna happen. The one thing I can say I HATE about Fairy Tail is that Lisanna didn't get any chance to really shine after her return from Edolas, she just became a recurring character with no real purpose it seemed. I'll have her play a major role in this story upon her return from Edolas.
Chapter One: Two Lost Dragon Slayers
A pink haired boy and a blue haired girl around half his age walked through a forest. The boy, Natsu Dragneel, felt annoyed. She really slowed him down. He wanted to just take off and search for his dragon father Igneel on his own. But even as stupid as he was, he knew in his heart that it would be wrong of him to just leave her behind. She was so much younger than him, only five years old. He couldn't leave her alone in the middle of the woods which could be filled with monsters.
"Please, can we take a break Natsu?" the girl, Wendy Marvel asked. "My feet hurt!"
"We have to keep moving if we're going to find our parents!" Natsu snapped. "Come on!"
Wendy moaned softly. He looked into her face and saw the pain. Sighing, he walked over to her and bent down.
"Hey, don't cry. I'm sorry. Come on, I'll carry you."
He bent down and picked the younger dragon slayer up. She looked at him for a moment, then threw her arms around his neck. Slowly, he hugged her back. They were both two lost children whose parents had left them for unknown reasons.
"I'm sorry I get angry at you sometimes. I just want to find Igneel," Natsu said. "And I can't just leave you."
She sniffled. "Thank you. I don't want to be alone."
Natsu turned and began to walk in a random direction. There seemed to be nothing but trees for miles and miles.
He screamed. "Is there no end to this forest?"
Finally, exhausted from a day of walking, carrying Wendy, and barely any food for the entire day, Natsu collapsed. The sun was beginning to set, and Natsu was not sure they would live to see morning. If a monster wandering these forests found them right now, he would not have the strength to fight it.
Crunch. Crunch. Natsu's ears echoed with the sound of footsteps. He forced himself to get back up, looking in the direction that the footsteps were coming from. There was something approaching them… but it wasn't a monster. It was a boy about his age with blue hair similar to Wendy's. On his back he carried a staff. He looked at them in what Natsu thought was confusion.
"Hey, are you both alright?" he asked.
"Uh… yeah we're fine!" Natsu said. "Just hungry."
"And lost, we're looking for our parents!" Wendy cried.
The boy gasped. "Come with me. There's a city called Magnolia nearby, I know some people there who might be able to help you."
Natsu began to walk, his feet still aching but knowing that there was some refuge nearby gave him the strength to keep going. Wendy walked this time, her energy restored since Natsu had been kind enough to carry her.
After a short time they reached the city of Magnolia. The blue haired boy led them to the back of the city where a large building stood. The boy lifted the staff from his back. It lit up as Natsu and Wendy watched in confusion. The boy drew a mask from his backpack and put it on.
"Okay go in now," the boy said.
"Um… okay," Natsu said, slightly confused but too tired to really question it.
The blue haired boy opened the doors to the building and the trio walked in. Natsu looked around and saw to his astonishment that everyone in the guildhall but a short old man in the back was asleep.
"Well, hello there Mystogan!" the short man said.
"Master, I found these two wondering in the woods as I was leaving for my job!" the boy called Mystogan said. "They lost their parents!"
The old man looked at Natsu and Wendy with sad eyes. "Oh you poor kids, I'll do everything I can to help you!"
"Thank you," Mystogan said before turning around and walking back out the guild hall.
The old man watched him leave then turned back to the kids. "I am Makarov Dreyer, Third Master of the Fairy Tail Guild. Most people here call me gramps."
"I'm Natsu and this is Wendy," Natsu said.
"Okay what are the names of your parents?" Makarov asked.
"My father is Igneel, and her mother is Grandeena!" Natsu said pointing to Wendy. "They're both dragons!"
"Dragons?" Makarov repeated.
"Yeah that's right!" Natsu told him.
"But dragons have not been seen in over four hundred years!" Makarov stated.
"Mommy told me she was one of the last of the dragons," Wendy said.
Makarov looked at them with slight suspicion but decided to believe them. "Well I've seen some pretty strange things in my lifetime. Alright you two dragon children, I'll help you in any way I can. But first I must know, do you possess magic?"
"Yes!" Natsu said. "We both possess dragon slayer magic we got from our parents! I have fire and she has sky!"
"Dragon slaying magic, well that's a rare thing indeed! You two could become very powerful wizards when you get older! So how about you two join my guild? Since you're both kids you can live here free until you surpass ten years of age. How old are each of you?"
"I'm five," Wendy told him.
Natsu hesitated. "I'm not really sure. Dragons didn't really celebrate birthdays."
Makarov looked at Natsu. "Well you look about the right size to be ten. So, I'll let you live here free for a year."
"Thanks gramps!" Natsu said.
"If you'll just come up here I'll give you a stamp to mark you as a member of this guild."
They walked up in front of Makarov while he grabbed a magic stamp with the Fairy Tail Emblem of a feather on it.
"Alright, tell me, where do you want your mark and what color, Natsu?"
"I'd like it on my right shoulder and red," Natsu said.
Makarov set the stamp to red and put it on Natsu's shoulder before Wendy stepped up.
"Alright Wendy, where do you want it and what color?"
"Same as Natsu but blue please," the young girl said.
Makarov repeated the process, setting the stamp color to blue and putting it on Wendy's shoulder.
"Welcome to Fairy Tail you two! Now I'll just wake everyone up and you can meet them!"
