Chapter Two Meeting the Fairies
The master clapped his hands and everyone Mystogan had put to sleep awakened. They looked around at Makarov.
"What happened Master?" a red-haired girl with an eyepatch taller than Natsu asked.
"Mystogan was here again," Makarov said.
"Geez, why does that guy always put us all to sleep whenever he comes in? What's he hiding?" a black-haired boy in only his underwear said.
"Gray find your clothes now!" the red-haired girl ordered.
She had a scary voice that sent a chill down Natsu's spine. The other boy yelped as he looked down and saw he mostly naked.
"Ahh!" Wendy yelped, taking Natsu's arm and looking at the girl as though she were a monster.
"Wasn't he here like half an hour ago?" one of the older members, a man with a pipe asked.
"Geez isn't once a day enough to be put under a sleeping spell?" a man in a white jacket with an S shaped silver necklace said.
"Well everyone you should know that he came back because he found us two new members!" Makarov said gesturing to Natsu and Wendy. "This is Natsu Dragneel and Wendy Marvel! Say hello!"
Natsu waved at all of them and grinned. Wendy meanwhile, being really shy, hid behind Natsu, hugging him closely while looking out from behind him.
"Nice to meet you guys!" Natsu said.
"H-hello," Wendy said.
"Ooh, the little girl is a cutie!" the man smoking the pipe whispered.
"You can say that again Wakaba!" the man in the white jacket, Macao said.
With dragon slayer enhanced hearing, Wendy was able to hear the comments even though they whispered. She turned bright red and clutched Natsu's arm. A group of kids around Natsu's age walked up to them, there was the black-haired boy in his underwear, the red-haired girl wearing armor like a knight, and two other girls. One in a yellow dress with long brown hair, the other short blue hair like Wendy's who had a book in her hands.
"Good to meet you both!" the armored girl said. "I'm Erza. Erza Scarlet. The other girls are Cana and Levy."
"Hey there!" the black-haired boy in his underwear said. "I'm Gray!"
Natsu frowned, there something about this kid he didn't like. His scent, it smelled foul. Natsu's noise twitched while Wendy looked away, not liking the sight of the boy in only his underwear.
"You smell like you need a bath! And why are you half naked? You some kind of pervert?"
Gray's friendly smile vanished, anger rising from the insult. "You wanna fight?"
"Bring it on!" Natsu said.
Gray grinned. He and Natsu began pommeling each other with their fists. Wendy watched with a nervous expression. She looked around, hoping someone would try and break this up. But to her surprise the other kids and even the grown ups were grinning at the sight of their newest member getting into his first scuffle with Gray.
"Aren't you gonna stop them?" she asked.
Makarov laughed. "Fights happen in our guild hall every day! Its part of what makes Fairy Tail fun and exciting!"
Wendy couldn't believe that. These people thought fighting was fun? She could never understand that. Though Natsu was getting a rush out of it, he grinned as he punched at Gray. The grunts of the two boys filled the room, then they both leapt back. Gray put his hands close to each other as white ice magic appeared between them while Natsu punched his palm with a fist full of flames.
"Whoa, the new kid uses fire!" Macao noted.
"And Gray is an ice user! Something tells me those two will never get along!" Wakaba said.
"Ice Make: Canon!"
"Fire Dragon Roar!"
Gray's maker magic created a bazooka made of ice and he fired a snowball from it, while fire erupted from Natsu's mouth. Fire and ice collided in midair, then it subsided.
"Huh, not bad," Gray admitted. "But I bet I'll put out that fire in a couple more rounds!"
"I'll melt your ice faster, you popsicle stripper!" Natsu declared.
Wendy walked toward Gray, taking his arm. "Please, don't hurt Natsu!"
His only response was to punch her in the face without thinking. The little girl fell on her rear and he looked at her as tears filled her eyes and she began crying. Remorse instantly filled Gray.
"Hey, hey, I'm sorry! I didn't mean too!"
If he had seen how small she was he wouldn't have dared hit her. Natsu meanwhile, was filled with rage as he watched his fellow Dragon Slayer go down and start crying. He growled as flames began to circle his body.
"How dare you!" he snarled as he advanced toward Gray.
Gray turned back to his opponent and was met with a scare that was equal to, perhaps even greater than… Erza.
"Fire Dragon Roar!"
From Natsu's mouth, a fireball far more powerful than before shot at Gray who raised his hands.
"Ice Make: Shield!"
A shield of ice appeared in front of Gray, but it melted instantly and he was hit by the fireball. Turned black, he immediately collapsed, defeated. The guild members who had watched the fight gasped. Out of all the kids his age there, Gray was the strongest. Levi and Cana were nowhere near his level, Erza was a couple years older and stronger than most of the adults there already. They were instantly reminded of her power when they saw Natsu defeat Gray in this matter after seeing him hurt Wendy.
Natsu huffed a few times than turned to Wendy, walking over and picking her up into a hug. She soon began to calm down, his touch soothing her. Both she and Natsu were lead to the Fairy Tail infirmary where they were given magic healing creams that instantly soothed the wounds inflicted by Gray who received a different cream meant for burns.
As Natsu lead Wendy out of the infirmary he found himself face to face with the red-haired girl in armor. Erza smiled at him.
"That wasn't bad out there, I haven't seen anyone capable of beating Gray that easily besides myself. But you probably aren't in my league," she finished in a taunting matter.
"Wanna bet?" Natsu asked.
"Please Natsu, don't!" Wendy cried, taking his arm.
Looking at her, Natsu sighed before looking at Erza.
"Maybe later, I've had enough of seeing Wendy cry for the day!"
He took Wendy's hand and lead her back to the guild hall, which was filled with people who were fighting themselves, celebrating the fact that they had two new members. Wendy, becoming scared at the scene, hugged Natsu's side.
"Don't worry, I'm gonna keep you away from that," he said putting a hand on her shoulder.
The day went by quickly as the guild members brawled, or they talked with Levi or Cana who weren't as interested in fighting like most of the others.
"So, you use fire magic Natsu?" Levi asked.
"Yeah, well… I use Fire Dragon Slayer magic," Natsu sold her.
"Dragon slayer? What's that?" Levi asked.
"It's a magic that's used by dragons."
"Dragons, I thought they were just make believe!" Levi said.
"Wendy has it too! Show them Wendy!"
Wendy hesitated. Then looked up at the ceiling.
"Sky Dragon Roar!"
A strong burst of wind filled the air, though it was nowhere near as the level of Natsu's fire but Wendy was left gasping for breath. At this stage in her magic development she was only good for a few roars before running out of energy. Natsu could do up to twenty last time he'd checked.
"Whoa!" Levi and Cana said together.
"What kind of magic do you guys use?" Natsu asked.
"Well we're studying different kinds of magic right now. I'm trying to learn solid script magic and Cana's trying to do Card Magic."
Natsu had no idea what either of those were but grinned. "Cool!"
So now he and Wendy were part of Fairy Tail. Some of the people there might have been a pain like Gray, but they would have the chance to make new friends, and more were to sure to come.
Authors Notes: Well, here's chapter two. I know that the Smart Flame had Mira, Elfman, and Lisanna already be in Fairy Tail at the time Natsu joined but it was established in the Tartarus Arc that they joined after he did so I will probably have them join next chapter. Now that my biggest fanfic project for My Little Pony is done, I can focus on this. Don't know for sure how often this will update, but waits shouldn't be too long.
