Chapter 10 Mt. Hakobe
Natsu, Wendy, and their cats lead Lucy to the front of the Fairy Tail building. Lucy let out a breath of eagerness as she looked up and saw the flag bearing the Guild mark. Natsu wasted no time in kicking the door open.
"We're home!" he announced.
"We made it back alive!" Happy followed up.
"Oh, don't be so dramatic tomcat!" Carla told the other cat.
"What's up Natsu?" someone asked.
Lucy stepped in with Wendy as the young girl calmly entered with a smile.
"Hey, I heard you went all out in Hargeon Natsu!" Krov, one of the members said. "Had to go starting trouble-"
Krov received a kick in the face as Natsu leapt at him. Lucy gasped at the sight.
"Why did you do that?" she asked.
"You lied about that Salamander!" Natsu accused, for Krov had been the one to tell Natsu of the fake Salamander from the start.
"Hey its not my fault I was just passing along a rumor I heard!" Krov explained.
"It was just a rumor?" Natsu complained.
Carla sighed. "I told you it was likely someone impersonating you!"
"Well you want to fight? Come on!" Krov challenged.
Wendy suddenly ran between her brother and the buck toothed man. "Please, can't you just stop! Natsu, Krov didn't know it wasn't Igneel! And that Bora guy was impersonating you, so you should thank him!"
Natsu growled. "Alright, thanks for tipping me off someone was spoiling my name."
Wendy let out a breath of relief. But it was short lived.
"So Natsu finally made it back huh?" Gray said.
Lucy let out a gasp as she saw the ice mage in only his underwear. That had not changed in all these years, though many others members of the guild had changed in some way. Cana sat at the bar, wearing only pants and a bikini top while she downed an entire barrel of alcohol. Elfman had become a muscular man who was obsessed with being 'manly' rather than the crybaby he'd once been, and Mirajane had turned from the goth wearing punkish girl into a kind woman that often assumed the role of a mother figure in the guild, as well bikini model for Sorcerer Weekly Magazine.
"Welcome back Wendy!" Mira said as she approached. "Did you find your dragon?"
"Oh, hi Mira," Wendy said with a smile, she was no longer afraid of the former she-devil. Mira had pretty much lost that power after Lisanna's death. "We didn't find a dragon, but we did make a new friend."
She gestured to Lucy who was still bewildered by the fighting going on. Gray challenged Natsu to a fight and got his underwear taken off by the Fire Wizard, much to the embarrassment of Lucy and Wendy. When he tried to use Carla to cover himself, the white cat immediately hissed and began swiping at him with her claws.
"Keep me away from that disgusting part of yours!" she said.
Soon Master Makarov appeared, turning into a giant silhouette to break up the fight. He then shrunk down to his normal size and welcomed Lucy. Just a while later, she sat at the bar as Mirajane put the Fairy Tail guild mark on the back of her hand.
"There you go, you're an official member of Fairy Tail!" Mirajane said.
Lucy gasped in delight and looked around for Natsu and Wendy. The siblings stood at the Request Board with their cats.
"Natsu! Wendy! Mirajane put the Fairy Tail emblem on my hand!" Lucy told them.
"Oh, great welcome to the guild, Lumi!" Natsu said.
"The name's Lucy!" she corrected him angrily.
"Well I'm always glad to have a new friend!" Wendy said.
Natsu kept his eyes on the board. Then a job piqued his interest.
"160,000 Jewel to take care of some thieves!" he said. "What do you think Wendy?"
"Sounds good to me," his sister agreed.
"Alright, those thieves better look out cause Team Hot Air is coming!" Natsu said.
"Team Hot Air?" Lucy asked.
"That's what they decided to name their team," Carla said.
"Aye," Happy said. "Even though everyone in the guild is allied to one another, some members that are really close decide to form teams within the guild so they can work together to do jobs that might be too tough for just one person. Me and Carla are both on the team but we're not exactly fighters."
"We do help out with our flying though. It's helpful for covering distances quickly or scouting," Carla said showing her wings. "Natsu handles most of the fighting, Wendy backs him up with healing and support spells, and we help the two of them by flying them sometimes!"
"Wow, cool!" Lucy said.
"Well lets-
"Why hasn't my dad come back yet?" a voice cut Natsu off.
It was Romeo, Macao's son.
"You're starting to work my nerves Romeo," Makarov told the five-year-old boy.
"But my dad said he would be back in three days, its been over a week!" the boy cried.
Natsu watched as Romeo ran off after Makarov ignored his pleas to send someone to find his father.
"Change of plans, sis," he said, burning the job request. "We're going to Mt. Hakobe to save Macao."
Wendy and Happy nodded, Carla merely huffed but didn't protest.
….
They got on the transportation that took them to Mt. Hakobe. Lucy was with them. She watched as Natsu lay in the vehicle barfing.
"Wow, you really do have a serious case of motion sickness."
"Wendy has a healing spell that could help him with that but he's too stubborn to take it," Carla said.
Wendy sighed, then, unable to take her brother suffering anymore cast the spell.
"Troia!"
Natsu took a breath of relief. "Well I guess its okay to take the spell once and a while."
But at that moment the driver called out, "I'm sorry but this as far as I can take you!"
The door to the transport opened and Lucy's mouth fell open to see a land filled with snow. The blizzard raged around them.
"Where the heck are we, Natsu?" she asked.

Natsu removed his backpack and the blanket he carried and handed it to Happy. He then took Wendy on his back, she clung to him for warmth. He let out a bit of fire magic from his body, not enough to burn but enough to at least keep Wendy warm.
"Had you listened to me saying this would be cold instead of running off without thinking we could have stopped by the house and gotten your jacket child!" Carla scolded.
"I'm fine," Wendy assured her feline friend. "Big brother is a living heater!"
"What is with this blizzard! I know we're on the mountain but its summer right now!" Lucy complained as she walked over to Happy. "Give me that blanket, Happy!"
She tried wrapping it around herself, but it didn't help much.
"Hey I know!" Lucy drew one of her keys. "Open gate of the clock constellation, Horologium!"
A large clock with legs and arms appeared.
"Whoa, a clock!" Natsu said.
"Cool," Wendy said.
Lucy got inside the clock and began speaking, Natsu and the others couldn't hear her but the clock translated. She asked what kind of job would require Macao to come here, and when Natsu told her it was to slay a large monster called a Vulcan, she wanted to go back to the guild. So they started to part ways, Natsu carried Wendy further into the blizzard while the two cats followed and Horologium started to move in the other direction with Lucy inside him.
Then, out of the blizzard it appeared. A large white monkey like monster… a Vulcan. It sniffed the air, and walked up to Natsu and Wendy. Looking at the young girl for a moment, causing her to be weirded out.
"Eh… girl not big enough!"
He sniffed the air again then smiled and ran off after Horologium. Looking inside he saw Lucy who shook in fear at the sight.
"Me like human woman!" the Vulcan said as it picked up the Clock Spirit and took Lucy who cried for Natsu to save her.

In the Vulcan's cave, Lucy waited inside Horologium until his time was up and he vanished, leaving her alone with the Vulcan that seemingly wanted to mate with her. She shivered in fear as the monkey approached. Then Natsu came running in, Wendy still on his back and the cats flying after them, though he slipped on the ice. Wendy lost her grip and the two dragon slayer siblings spun around.
Natsu got to his feet and faced the Vulcan. "Alright monkey! Where's Macao?"
The Vulcan became puzzled as Natsu spoke to it. Lucy took the opportunity to run up to Natsu as Wendy also got to her feet.
"You understand me, right?" Natsu asked. "I'm looking for my friend Macao, he's a human man."
The Vulcan thought for a moment, scratching its big ugly chin. Then it pointed toward one of the passages in the cave. Natsu went in the direction it pointed… only to be thrown out of the cave down a thousand-foot drop.
"No like man! Me like woman!" the Vulcan said as it began a victory dance.
"Big brother!" Wendy screamed.
"This is bad! He can't survive out there!" Lucy said.
"I'll get him!" Happy yelled as he flew out to catch Natsu.
As the blue cat flew off, Carla looked at the Vulcan.
"I guess its up to us girls to take care of this Vulcan!"
"Right!" Wendy agreed while thinking, I've been waiting for a chance to test my strength.
She drew her daggers and looked at the Vulcan. It was still doing its victory dance and shouting, "Woman! Woman!
Wendy's face twisted in disgust. "Alright, Vulcan! You're mine!"
She leapt at him propelling herself with wind from her feet. The Vulcan managed to end its victory dance in time to leap back. In addition to its immense size it was fast too. It punched Wendy with one of its long massive hands and she was thrown back, sliding across the ice.
Lucy gasped and drew another key, "I got to help her! Can't let a little girl fight alone! Open gate of the Golden Bull, Taurus!"
A humanoid cow with a battle axe appeared in a flash of light.
"MOO!" he mooed.
"Alright ya pervy monkey! I'll have you know that Taurus is one my most powerful spirits!" Lucy said to the Vulcan.
Wendy got up and prepared to rejoin the fight. She stood beside Taurus. The cow looked at her.
"Hmm… too smmmall. Not a very shapely body like Miss Lucy," Taurus said.
"Oh I forgot you're a pervert too!" Lucy said.
Wendy suddenly became very sad. "Why am I cursed to not be as sexy as the other girls in Fairy Tail? Cana had a bigger chest when she was my age!"
"No time to worry about that right now, child!" Carla said. "Just focus on-
"Arrgh!"
Natsu rejoined the battle and kicked… but he kicked the wrong target. Instead of the Vulcan, he hit Taurus. The bull spirit was knocked to the ground instantly and nearly unconscious. Natsu was confused for a minute about how there were more monsters now than when he'd been there a minute ago. Lucy explained Taurus was a friend.
"Okay, but why is Wendy crying!" Natsu asked looking at his sister who was sobbing softly.
"That would be the Bull's doing!" Carla said. "He said she didn't have a very good body!"
Natsu growled and looked at Taurus, "Well, I'd say you deserved that kick for making my sister cry!"
He then turned to the Vulcan. "Alright monkey, you're gonna pay for tricking me! Fire Dragon Roar!"
The rage he felt at seeing Wendy's sadness and a little from being tricked burst into flame. The Vulcan was no match for the S-class wizard's wrath. It turned black from the burns and was thrown back. Then it glowed and burst into light. When the group looked at where the Vulcan had been, they saw Macao. Realizing that he must have been taken over by the Vulcan, Wendy immediately got to healing him.
Soon the veteran mage came around. "Natsu, Wendy!" he said. "Ah man… I killed nineteen of those monsters, but the twentieth got me. I feel so ashamed."
"Don't worry about it, you destroyed nineteen of those things! That's not an easy job!" Natsu told him.
With Macao rescued, they headed back to Fairy Tail where Romeo was waiting. He embraced his father in a tearful hug. Smiling, Natsu, Wendy, Lucy, and the two cats headed back to the guild as Romeo called out to them.
"Natsu, Wendy, Lucy!" Romeo called. "Thanks for bringing my daddy back!"
Authors Notes: Well here is my little rewrite of the second episode. I will probably skip over bits and pieces that would be more or less unchanged and only focus on the major differences for this fic. Poor Wendy got sidelined again I think, though I'm building something in that so I'm satisfied with this.
