Chapter 17 Two Dragons and a Demon

Wendy faced Lyon. The air tensed up around them for a few seconds as they gazed into each others eyes. Wendy formed a determined expression, Lyon's dark eyes were narrowed in what seemed like annoyance. Wendy felt the air grow colder as the ice mage prepared to attack.

"Ice make: Eagle!"

Lyon raised one hand, from it three birds made of ice flew at Wendy. The young dragon slayer dodged them, only to have them fly back around and crash into her, she yelped as she felt herself get hit with cold and physical force. Lyon, meanwhile laughed at her.

"I suppose you've seen what Gray's maker magic can do? He specializes in creating inanimate objects from ice, while I specialize in creating living beings!"

So his ice could move on its own like a living being could? This was bad. Wendy pushed herself up.

"Ice make: Snow Serpent!"

A large icy snake formed and slithered toward Wendy.

"Sky dragon roar!"

Her roar didn't destroy the snake, only managing to slow it down. At least for a moment until the roar subsided, then it sprang at her and wrapped around her. Wendy yelled as she was wrapped in the snakes cold coils. Her wind wasn't able to hurt this ice directly, she needed fire to melt it She tried to reach for the daggers at her hips, only to find they were gone! They must have been taken away when she was captured. Then she looked at Lyon and saw he had her daggers at his hips.

She took a deep breath, eating air even as it left her while the snake cried to squeeze her to death. Struggling, she shouted, "Sky dragon dome!"

The icy snake had immobilized her, preventing her from waving her arms, but an orb of wind surrounded her. The snake was thrown off, it fell and broke into pieces on the stairway. Wendy then turned to Lyon and charged. She had to get her daggers back from him! As she got close, Lyon threw a kick out at her. She blocked it, but he was much taller and stronger than her. He broke her guard and went on to kick her. Wendy fell, groaning in pain, tears forming in her eyes.

Natsu tried to run after Wendy but the masked man hit him with the Crystal Ball, multiple times.

"Your opponent is me Salamander!" Zalty stated. "I knew capturing your sister would lure you here. I've been waiting a long time for the chance to fight you!"

"You wanted to fight me huh? Fine then!" Natsu said. "Fire dragon Iron Fist!"

The crystal ball that had hit him so many times broke and hit the floor!

"Natsu you okay?" Happy called.

"I'm fine, follow Wendy! Make sure she's safe!" Natsu ordered.

"Aye!"

The blue exceed flew off in the direction Wendy had gone. He followed Wendy and hid around the corner as he watched her begin to engage the man called Lyon in a fight. He saw her get hit by the eagle, coiled by the snake before she managed to free herself and charge at him. He saw her reach for the red dagger at Lyon's hip, the dagger that Happy recognized as belonging to Wendy. But Lyon simply gave her a hard kick and she rolled down the steps.

Happy growled. He had to help her!

"Leave her alone!" Happy flew at Lyon and took Wendy's fire dagger from its sheath.

"Happy!" she exclaimed.

"Wendy, here!" Happy held out the dagger.

She nodded and took it. Now she would have a better chance.

Lyon frowned. "Enough games. Ice Make: Snow Tiger!"

An enormous tiger made of ice charged at Wendy who screamed and ran back down the steps. The tiger crashed into the wall where she had just been a second ago before turning and chasing her. Even though Wendy was a strong mage, she was still a little girl and that tiger was scary!

Then Erza's voice sounded in her head. She remembered her dagger lessons. How she'd often flinched when Erza came at her.

"You must never run away! You must not close your eyes! You must never lose focus!"

Wendy turned and face the tiger as it leapt at her. She focused her magic power into the dagger in her right hand, bringing it up to full power. At the same time she also did it in her mouth.

"Sky Fire Roar!"

Fire shot from her dagger, while wind shout from her mouth. It was hard to channel her magic through two different areas, but she'd pulled it off. Her daggers fire mixed with her roar and hit the tiger. Wendy let out a few pants. She had more magic power since she'd been nine, back then using both daggers together at the maximum setting drained her completely, but now she could do three times that much. Her roar used more magic then the wind dagger though. She would have to end this quickly, for she only had one or two of those attacks left.

Wendy charged back up the steps where she saw Lyon.

"Sky Fire Roar!"

Lyon put up a shield made of ice to try and protect himself from the fire enhanced by wind. But it broke through and hit him.

"This can't be! Defeated by a little girl!" he cursed as he collapsed.

Lyon tried to get up. At that moment Wendy heard someone coming. She looked back down and saw Erza, Gray, Lucy and Carla all there.

"You got him!" Gray exclaimed. "I don't believe it!"

"Well, good work Wendy!" Erza said. "But you are still getting punished!"

Suddenly the temple began to glow.

"Tobi has started the moondrip!" Lyon said.

"No! Call him off!" Gray ordered.

"I will… defeat Deliora!" Lyon began to crawl down the steps.

"You're insane, you'll never be able to beat it in that condition! Even if you were at full strength you couldn't!" Gray protested. "Besides… there's something you should know. Ur is alive! Her spirit is part of the ice encasing Deliora, if you melt that ice it's the same as killing her!"

"I know that!" Lyon said.

"What?" Gray was completely caught by surprise. "You know, and you're stilling doing it!?"

"Ur is as good as dead to me since I can't challenge her physically!" Lyon said.

Soon, a roar sounded from below. The demon was freed!

Natsu growled. He'd had enough of this guy! The masked man kept throwing the Crystal Ball at him and had lured him under to where the demon Deliora stood frozen. Natsu kept breaking the man's crystal ball, but the man just kept turning it back in time. He used something he called Arc of Time magic. It allowed him to send something back or forward in time. He could send the ball back to a time when Natsu didn't break it and undid the damage before using to hit him again.

"You are really annoying!" Natsu shouted as he leapt at Zalty and punched at him in the cheek.

The man fell into the water and vanished. Natsu let out a few pants.

"Phew… haven't met someone that could ever last that long against my Berserk Brother Mode!" he said. "That guys strong. Or was he even a guy at all, he kinda smelled like a lady? Ah well, he'll know better than to try and kidnap Wendy again. Wendy!"

Natsu was about to turn and run back the way he came to check on his sister when the cavern containing the demon suddenly glowed with purple light. He looked and saw it shining on the frozen monster. The ice began to melt.

"That's not good!" he said.

He watched as the ice began to melt off the demon which roared.

"Big brother!" Wendy's voice called.

Natsu looked and saw her coming toward him along with Gray.

"Wendy! Are you okay?" Natsu asked his sister.

"I'm fine! I defeated Lyon… but the Moondrip is happening!" she said.

"You defeated him?" Natsu repeated.

She nodded, then looked at Deliora was halfway free. Only its legs were encased in ice now. It eyed with them black soulless eyes. Wendy shivered at the sight. Gray did as well.

"We're too late!" Gray exclaimed. "Erza and Lucy went up to try and stop the one performing the Moondrip ceremony but its already halfway free!"

Soon the ice on Deliora's legs was gone. It growled and began to walk forward.

"Guess we'll just have to defeat it then!" Natsu said.

"No, we can't! Its too powerful!" Gray said.

"Maybe, but I'm still not backing down," Natsu said. "I came here to make sure Wendy was brought home safe and I'm not gonna let some stinking demon hurt her! Listen, if I don't make it out Gray… I want you to promise me you will get her out of here."

"No way, I'm staying with you Natsu!" Wendy protested. "I'm not some weak little girl that needs you to protect me all the time!"

Natsu began to tear up slightly. "I can't lose you! I lost Lisanna already!"

Wendy sniffled a bit at the mention of their late friend. "I know. I miss her too. But I can't rely on you to protect me all the time. I'm a Fairy Tail Wizard too, and I'm gonna fight my own battles when I have to!"

She walked out in front of him, facing the demon… it was nearly to them! For Natsu, a few short seconds seemed like an eternity as he looked at his sister. She used to be so shy and weak, but now she was a strong wizard capable of taking care of herself. Not as strong as him, but maybe getting there.

My little sister is growing up. Natsu thought. He rubbed his tears away and came up beside her.

"Alright Wendy! Let's take this demon down together!" he said.

"Right!" she nodded.

They looked at the demon as it raised its giant fist. If it hit them… it would be over.

Natsu and Wendy both leapt into the air.

"Fire Dragon-"

"Sky Dragon"

"Roar!"

The two roars combined, forming a fiery ball of wind that was even more powerful than Wendy's daggers. It hit Deliora, and the two dragon slayers were surprised by how much damage they did. They'd expected to hurt it at least a little bit but not for it to crumble instantly.

"Whoa! We make a better team than I thought!" Natsu said as Wendy's mouth hung open.

"No… it couldn't have been that easy," Gray said. "Unless that demon was already dead. Its lifeforce was depleted from its time in the ice. Those were just…. Its final moments."

It was over. Natsu and Wendy hugged at their victory and returned to the village with Gray and all the others. The villagers were still demons, but Erza quickly figured out what was the real cause. She threw a spear at the moon, and with Natsu's power seemed to pierce it. But the moon reappeared unharmed. The moondrip had created a magical bubble around the island and affected the villagers who were actually demons all along. They'd been affected to think their human forms were their true forms. Lyon and his minions had not been affected in any way because they were human.

After a party in the village, the Fairy Tail Wizards got on the pirate ship to return home. Many adventures were ahead for Team Hot Air, but they would face them together as proud members of Fairy Tail.

Well, this is it for Part 1! I'm kind of debating on whether or not to keep this all one story or make a second story for Part 2. What do you guys think? I kind of lean toward keeping this as one story since I have the main characters all listed.
